SHURIG Murphy Shurig, 13, of Worthington, Thursday, August 8, 2002. Preceded in death by maternal grandfather William P. Weber. Survived by parents, Michael and Sue; maternal grandmother, Sally Weber; paternal grandparents, Mike and Jane Shurig, West Lafayette, Ind.; other loving relatives and many friends. Murphy participated in football, wrestling and lacrosse at Kilbourne Middle School and was active in marshall arts. A celebration of Murphy's life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 10, 2002 in Colonial Hills. Arrangements by RUTHERFORD-CORBIN FUNERAL HOME, WORTHINGTON CHAPEL, 515 High St., Worthington, Oh. SNEPP Virginia I. Snepp, 96, of Worthington Christian Village, completed her journey of faith on August 7, 2002 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. She was born in Glouster, Oh. on March 15, 1906 to William E. and Mildred M. (Birtcher) Steadman. She married Virgil T. Snepp, April 28, 1926 in South Bend, Ind. She devoted her life to being a loving wife, mother and grandmother and rearing her family in a Christian home. She served as pianist, choir member, soloist, and Sunday School Teacher for many years at various churches. She was a member of Liberty Christian Church in Powell, Oh. and had served as pianist for services at Worthington Christian Village for 13 years, retiring last year. She was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Michigan Extension Cooperative Clubs. She liked music, gardening, cooking and sewing. She is survived by sons, Dr. Neil O. (Connie), Haslett, Mich., Paul A. (Sylvia), Sylvania, Oh., Hugh G. (Laurel), Westerville, Oh., Dale M. (Joan), Columbus, Oh., Dean L. (Marcia), Topeka, Kan.; daughter, Bonnie L. (Gerry) Greene, Tecumseh, Mich.; 19 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1992, 3 granddaughters, 1 great-grandson, brother Fred and sisters Frances, Inez and Phyllis. SONY Daniel Patrick Sony, 46, of London, died Thursday, August 8, 2002, 1:45 a.m. He was born December 13, 1955 in Columbus, Oh., he was the son of Norman A. and Geraldine L. (Cronin) Sony. He graduated from Madison Plains High School in 1974. He was both a very loving father and devoted grandfather. He is survived by his mother of Grove City; sons, Matthew (Nichole) Sony of Galloway, Joshua M. Sony and Jason M. Sony, both of Hilliard; grandson, Colten Winters of London; brothers and sisters, Norman (Frances) Sony of Columbus, David (Mary) Sony of Grove City, Sheila Sony of Worthington, Linda Riddle of Mt. Sterling, Carol (Russ) Nicholl of Galloway, Chris Sony of Worthington and Angel Sony of Orient; friend, Melissa Holley of Worthington; and former wife, Benita Sony of Mt. Sterling; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father. SPANGLER Louise B. Spangler, age 96, of Cincinnati and formerly of Canton and Columbus, passed away Thursday, August 8, 2002 at Mt. Healthy Christian Home. Louise is the second of six girls born to the late Enoch and Elizabeth (Ramey) Stapleton. Louise and Kenneth left Columbus in 1933 and moved to Canton. Fifty years later they returned to Columbus. For the last five years they have lived in Cincinnati to be close to their son. She was a faithful member of the Canton Second Wesleyan Methodist Church, where she was very active as a Sunday School Teacher and strongly supported missions. She married Kenneth A. Spangler on May 31, 1927. Preceded in death by son Dale Spangler. Survived by her husband of 75 years, Kenneth A.; sons, Wayne (Harriet) Spangler of Cincinnati and Tom (Marie) Spangler of Mansfield; adapted daughter, Mina (Maurice) Beam; 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Maxie Baum; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral service Sunday, August 11, 2002 at 7 p.m., SCHOEDINGER HILLTOP CHAPEL, 3030 W. TANYHILL Charles William Tanyhill Sr., age 72, died August 7, 2002 at Crown Point Nursing Home. He was retired from Children's Hospital where he worked in the Emergency Room. Preceded in death by his parents Samuel Sr. and Lula Tanyhill. He is survived by his daughter, Deborah (Michael) Lyles; son, Charles W. Jr.; brother, David (Geneva) Tanyhill; sisters, Willie Mae Johnson, Christine (Dekab) Artis, Lillie Pearl Lee and Hazel Harris; 8 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; special friend, Nuruddin Burns. WITTMAN Jeremy Thomas Wittman, age 25, of Columbus, died Wednesday, August 7, 2002 at Children's Hospital in Columbus. Born on a beautiful Sunday in August, 1976. Preceded in death by his most loving great-grandmothers Evelyn Linton and Mary Ann Kimble. He is survived and will be forever missed by his mother, Sheila Wittman (Mike Seminsky); father, Thomas (Patty) Wittman; his loving girlfriend, Stacy Collins and her family; his brothers, Joshua Wittman, Sean Wittman-Seminsky, Ryan Wittman-Seminsky and Dustin Wittman; his great-grandfather, Williard Kimble; his grandparents, James and Arlene Kimble (maternal) and Leonard and Edna Wittman (paternal); his aunt and uncle, Sharon and Bill Bevins (with cousin, "Billy Joe" Bevins); his aunt and uncle, Teresa and Charlie Henderhan (with step-cousin, Jonathan); his uncle and beloved friend, John Kimble; his many paternal aunts and uncles and cousins; and the many friends he made during his happy time with us. He graduated from Whetstone High School in 1994 and attended Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Oh. He loved his happy days of childhood with his mother and grandma and grandpa Kimble on Melrose Ave., and his college days with Stacy in Bowling Green, and was one semester away from graduating with a degree in telecommunications. ADAMS Martin L. Adams, age 71, passed away Sunday, August 11, 2002 at his residence. Retired from Buckeye Steel after 25 years. U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. ANTHONY Phillip Lawrence Anthony Sr., age 66, August 10, 2002 at Grant Medical Center. Preceded in death by parents Electoria Tolliver Anthony and Martin Bray Anthony, brothers Martin, Frank and Dewitt. Phillip attended the Columbus Public School system, and was an employee of The Columbus Athletic Club and the Gilbert Shoe Store warehouse. He was also a self-employed auto mechanic in the Columbus area. BYERS Edna L. (Reiter, Iler) Byers, age 93, died in her sleep Saturday, August 10, 2002 at Lutheran Village Nursing Home. She spent her lifetime in Columbus. Life member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday School and several years as secretary to the women of the church. Member of the Ruth Circle. Past President Department of Ohio Blue Star Mothers and several years President of the Columbus Chapter. Member of Big Dipper honor society and served as deputy at the V.A. Hospital in Chillicothe, OH., where she was a faithful worker with the veterans for 13 years. Preceded in death by husbands William F. Iler and John A. Byers, brothers Clarence and William Reiter Sr., an infant son, son William J. Iler, daughter Marie E. Hughes, one grandson, granddaughter, and one great-granddaughter. Edna is survived by daughter, Mary E. Mead; sister, Clara M. Schulz; 5 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and other relatives; also great friend and pal, Virginia Leasure of Washington Court House. CARINA Arthur Joseph Carina, 53, of Powell, died Monday morning at his residence. Born October 7, 1948 in Camden, N.J. to Arthur George Carina and Gilda A. (D'Antonio) Carina. He was an accountant/CPA for Banc One Leasing, Columbus. Member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Delaware, the Willowick Jaycees, where he was President from 1979-1980, The Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman. Survived by his wife of almost 32 years, Dorothy (Kutsor); son, Arthur John Carina of Willoughby, Oh.; daughter, Christine Marie Carina of Seattle, Wash.; grandson, Nicholas Joseph Carina of Willoughby; his mother of Maple Shade, N.J.; 2 sisters, Kathleen Rudolph and Janet Anderson of Marlton, N.J.; numerous nieces and nephews. CORDELL "Remember Me" Nellie "Granny" Cordell, age 78, left her earthly family to join her heavenly family on August 10, 2002. CRAIG (JOHNSON) Gloria E. (Johnson) Craig, 75, of Grove City, passed away peacefully at her daughter's residence on Sunday, August 11, 2002. She was born April 27, 1927 in Columbus, Oh., the daughter of the late Esther Johnson. Also preceded in death by her brother Vincent Johnson and former husband Ralph Craig. Gloria was retired from COPH, having been an RN for many years. She was a graduate of St. Mary's High School and the Mt. Carmel School of Nursing. Gloria was also a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church. However, she will be best remembered as a wonderful and caring mother and grandmother. Gloria is survived by her 4 devoted children; Michael (Terry) Craig of Columbus, Jeffrey (Melissa) Craig of Orient, Tonya Craig of Grove City and Douglas Craig of Chicago; precious grandchildren, Zachary, Megan, Erin Cassandra and Brittany Craig; brother and sisters, Mary Fitzsimmons of Columbus, Agnes (Charles) Rossiter of Detroit, Rosanne Smith of Chicago, Alice (Edwin) Zang of Cleveland, Richard (Joan) Johnson of Columbus, Eileen O'Gorman of Upper Arlington and Stella Duffee of Syracuse, N.Y.; many nieces and nephews; and the Girls from the Club.
