GERMAIN Suzanne S. Germain, 75, of Naples, Fla., passed away peacefully at home on September 2, 2002 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born and raised in Cleveland, Oh, where her great-grandfather, Adam Wager, was an original settler of Lakewood in 1818. Sue's family history was of great interest to her and she derived hours of pleasure doing research and compiling scrapbooks. Her home has always reflected this pride in her heritage with photos throughout and her famous "The Book" shown frequently to visitors. She contracted polio at the age of 7, which she overcame with the help of her mother. She was promised a xylophone upon recovery, at which she later became accomplished. She attended Laurel School for Girls in Shaker Heights, Bradford Junior College in Bradford, Mass. and the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor where she graduated in 1948 and remained an avid, if not exuberant, football fan. After marrying, she moved to Columbus, Oh. where she lovingly raised her 4 children. She moved to Naples, Fla. in 1981. Suzanne is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Susan Germain Maahs and Wayne Maahs of Naples, Fla.; 3 sons and daughters-in-law, Robert Lawrence Germain Jr. and Laurie Germain of Naples, Fla., Stephen Lewis and Kim Germain, Richard Bailey and Elizabeth Germain, all of Columbus, Oh.; her very special 13 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her brother and sister-in-law, Carlton Louis Shmock, M.D. and Polly Shmock of Rockport, Tex. Sue also leaves behind her devoted cat, Fluffy, who gave her much joy and companionship. The void we feel in her passing is only surpassed by the joy she brought us in her life. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2002 at 12noon at St. John's Episcopal Church, 500 Park Shore Drive, Naples, Fla. The family will receive friends at the Parrish Hall after the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Suzanne S. GIBSON Frank Gibson, age 37, of Columbus, Oh., retired Navy, passed away Sunday, September 1, 2002 at his residence. Survived by parents, Burl and Tina; brother, Steve (Sarah); nephew, Lane; niece, Bailey; several cousins, aunts and uncles. Service held Friday, September 6 at 1:30 p.m., Ohio Western Reserve, Rittman, Oh. Arrangements by ARBAUGH-PEARCE-GREENISEN FUNERAL HOME, 330-332-4401.

HARGROW Florence M. Hargrow, age 75, of Columbus, Oh., went home with the Lord Saturday, August 31, 2002 at Lutheran Village. Born March 28, 1927 to the late Clinton Sr. and Etta Garnes. Preceded in death by brother Clinton Garnes Jr. and sister Annabell Reed. She was a member of Kappa Gamma Ro and Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church. She worked at The Ohio State University as licensed physical therapist assistant for 30 years. Survived by husband of 55 years, Charles; daughter, Denise; brothers, Orville (Mary) Garnes and Fred Reed; sister, Catherine Hoke; grandchildren, Francesca Hargrow and Arnold Spikes; many other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Service of memory Thursday 2 p.m., Chapel of DIEHL-WHITTAKER FUNERAL SERVICE, 720 E. Long St. Mrs. Hargrow will lie in state Thursday after 9 a.m. in the mortuary, where the family will receive friends 1 p.m. until time of service. Interment Green Lawn cemetery.

HARRIS James R. "Bob" Harris, age 74, Sunday, September 1, 2002, Grant Medical Center. Retired ironworker, Local #172. U.S. Army Veteran. Preceded in death by parents James and Wynema Harris, sister Kathryn Brand. Survived by daughter and son-in-law, Roberta and Eddie Barton; grandchildren, Jessica and Garrett Barton; sister, Betty Drone; many nieces, nephews and friends. Family will receive friends Thursday 5-8 p.m. at the MAEDER-QUINT-TIBERI FUNERAL HOME, 1068 S. High St., where service will be held Friday 10:30 a.m. Dr. Wm. Snider officiating. HETENHOUSER Leland S. "Lee" Hetenhouser, age 72, of Columbus, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2002 at his home with his wife, Maria, by his side. He was preceded in death by his parents Bus and Nell Hetenhouser and his brother Harry Ashton. Lee was a graduate of Franklin University and a retired electronic engineer from ABB (Accuray) and a U.S. Army veteran serving in Vienna, Austria. He was past president of TAPPI, an international pulp/paper association; held patents on industrial measuring gauges and was a member of the Hudson Club (HET). In addition to his loving wife, Lee is also survived by his daughter, Linda (Mark) Dillman of Lockbourne; granddaughters, Anna (Mark) Whitmer of Columbus and Shannon Dillman of Lockbourne; five-year-old great-grandson, Ethan Whitmer; niece, Janice Thomas; and great-nephew, Scott Thomas. Family will receive friends Tuesday 6-8 p.m. at GRAUMLICH & SON FUNERAL HOME, 1351 S. High St., where service will be held Wednesday, 2 p.m., Pastor Thomas Knauff officiating, followed by burial at Walnut Hill cemetery. JEFFERS Katherine Eileen Jeffers, age 81, a long time resident of Worthington Hills, died Monday, September 2, 2002. Born and raised in Athens, Oh., where she attended Ohio University. She and her husband owned and operated a number of Super Duper markets in Central Ohio. Preceded in death by James Kenneth Jeffers her husband of 54 years; parents Ernest and Garnett Nash; and one brother Bill Nash. Survived by daughters, Barbara DiPietro, Westerville, Patty (Joe) Karr, Powell, Jean (Steve) Herb, Sarasota, Fla., Janice (Phil) Kabealo, Dublin; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Scoles, Apopka, Fla.; sister-in-law, Reba Nash, Galloway. JONES Kenneth T. Jones, age 35, born April 6, 1967. Graduate of Hamilton Township High School, Class of 1985. Served 4 years in the United States Marine Corps. Devoted father and enjoyed coaching T-Ball for his daughter. He was a current employee at Georgia Pacific for the past 12 years. Preceded in death by mother Jeannette Lewis Barnes and step-mother Helen Jones. Survived by wife, Yvonna; daughters, Presley and Kennedi; parents, Gilbert and Ruth Jones; brothers, James Jones and Mike Bilger; sisters, Vicki Bilger and Carolyn Benson.
