CONRAD Margaret "Connie" Conrad, age 87, passed away Tuesday, September 10, 2002 at Mt. Carmel East Hospital. Member Bellows Ave. Church of the Nazarene. Survived by son, Jack (Shirley) Conrad; grandchildren, Sheree (Mark) Burtel and Patti Conrad; great-great-granddaughter, Paige Pellegrino; sister, Betty Lynn; numerous nieces and nephews. DAUM Harold Leonard George Daum, age 76, of Marysville, died Friday, September 13, 2002 at Heartland of Marysville following a 9 week battle with cancer. He retired in 1980 after more than 30 years of dedicated service as a job setter with General Motors. He was born February 24, 1926 in Marysville to the late George P. and Margaret Streng Daum. He was preceded in death by a great-grandson Ronald Sidney Nicol, his infant twin sister, four brothers, and four sisters. He is survived by his wife of more than 55 years, Patty Jean Amrine Daum; daughter, Linda (Ronald) Nicol, Great Falls, MT; son, Danny (Joan) Daum, Marysville; four grandchildren; two great-grandsons; two brothers, Manuel Daum of Marysville and Ernest (Lena) Daum of Huntsville; a sister, Mary (Albert) Mabe of Powell; four sisters-in-law, Alice Reams of Prospect, Janet (Everett) Humble and Carolyn Amrine, each of Marysville, and Carolyn Daum of Columbus; and a brother-in-law, Richard (Evelyn) Amrine of Marion. Service will be held Monday, September 16, 2002, at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church. Reverend G. Renee Ahern and Reverend Steve Smithberger will officiate and burial will take place at Oakdale cemetery. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Sunday in the West Chapel at MANNASMITH-HALE FUNERAL HOME, Marysville. DEMIR Mae Dash Demir, age 82, of Oakland, California died after a brief illness, early Friday, September 13, 2002 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. Mae was a devoted mother to Jamel Demir and Jeannette Jusuf Demir Bird, beloved grandmother of Jusuf Demir, Jacob Demir, Anna Rose Bird, caring mother-in-law to Emily Demir and David Bird, caring sister to Idan Gani, Henry Dash and Stanley Dash, special cousin to Vicki Hamet, and loving aunt of many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Jusuf Demir on May 7, 1995 and parents Vehap and Razi Dash. Mrs. Demir was born July 25, 1920 in Pawtucket, Rhode Island and lived in the Mansfield area most of her life before moving to California. She was a homemaker, was an avid gardener and active in the community, primarily as a school volunteer. Along with her husband, she opened her home to support numerous Albanian immigrants in the 1950's and 1960's. Mae was an active supporter of the Albanian American Moslem Society in Detroit until her move to California in 1989. Friends may call at the DIAMOND STREET HOME OF WAPPNER FUNERAL DIRECTORS, Sunday, September 15 from 3-6 p.m. Funeral service will be held Monday at the funeral home at 1:30 p.m., conducted by Iman Vehbi Ismail. GUMP Fred Gump, age 71, of Columbus has traveled on from this world and onto the world of eternal music. Fred passed away Thursday, September 12, 2002 at his home, doing what he loved as well as enjoyed, fixing things. Fred was born December 31, 1930, the son of Dr. Ernest and Muriel Gump, who preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife and soul mate of 27 years, Debbie Cross-Gump, as well as his faithful companions, Mick & Truman. He is also survived by a host of extended family and friends, including musicians, motorcyclists and car enthusiasts. Fred was a jazz drummer who was inducted into the Columbus Seniors Musician Hall of Fame. In addition, he was an avid motorcyclist and member of the American Motorcycle Association, the Columbus Chapter of the Harley Owners Group, the Antique Motorcycle Club of America and the Ohio Valley Chapter. His love of cars led him to become a member of the Mid Ohio Bunch Car Club. Friends may come and share in his memory from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, September 15, at SCHOEDINGER NORTH CHAPEL, 5554 Karl Rd., where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, September 16, 2002. HAMMOND Marsha K. Hammond, age 63, of Columbus, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 12, 2002 at her residence. Born September 27, 1938 in Columbus to the late Robert and Elsie (Barber) Murdock. Survived by her husband of 44 years, Roger; children, Barry (Melissa) Hammond of Blacklick, Ronald (Loretta) Hammond of Columbus, Randal Hammond of Columbus, Jill (Michael) Pope of Grove City, Julie (Marcus) Brandt of Columbus; grandchildren, Matthew, Jessica, Ashley, Christine, Kimberly, Christopher, and Justin; brothers, Robert and Thomas Murdock; sisters, Jean Southworth, Dorothy Cardinale, Patricia Bishop, nieces and nephews. HARRISON Benjamin H. Harrison, age 90, departed this life and returned into eternal rest on Monday, September 9, 2002 at Doctors West Hospital, Columbus, Ohio. HART Franklin B. Hart, age 88, of Westerville, Sept. 12, 2002. Born Dec. 10, 1913 in Andover, Oh. Retired Division Manager, Union Fork & Hoe. Graduate of Columbus North High School and attended The Ohio State University. Member Lamb of God Lutheran Church (WELS). Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. HOOKER George W. Hooker, age 94, long-time resident of Upper Arlington went to be with the Lord Thursday, September 12, 2002. Loving and devoted father and grandfather. He was an active member of First Baptist Church of Columbus for 67 years. He will probably be best remembered in the communitiy as being founder of the Hooker Painting & Decor, Inc. established in 1929. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Eva and son George Jr. Previous member of Northwest Kiwanis and the Painting & Decorating Contractors of America. Survived by sons, Ronald Hooker (Jane) of Columbus, Dennis Hooker (Ellen) of Chicago and Paul Hooker of Albany, Ga.; grandchildren, Cheri (Donal) O'Mathuna, Jeffrey (Emily) Hooker, Gregory (Cheryl) Hooker, Teri Holmes, Kristi Hooker; 9 great-grandchildren. There will be a gathering of family and friends at the DEYO-DAVIS FUNERAL HOME, 1578 W. HORN Emma Lee Hammond Horn, age 68, passed away Friday, September 13, 2002. Born February 4, 1934 in Lovely, Ky. Retired from Xerox. Member of Parsons Avenue Baptist Church. Preceded in death by her parents Charles Hammond and Oma Delong Hammond Ashee and three siblings Claude, Therman, and Opal Endicott. Survived by uncle, Paul Delong; sister, Helen Graham; brothers, Chuck (Shirley), Herman (Mary Ann), and Donald (Ann) Hammond; children, Gary (Tina) Horn, Teresa (Dennis) Kelly, Mickey (Sharon) Horn, and Jerry "Dean" (Pam) Horn; grandchidren, Amy Horn, Jeremy (Addrienne) Kelly, Jason (Amy) Horn, Karen Kelly, Ryan Horn, Travid Horn, Jerrod Horn, Dustin Horn, and Shanon Horn; great-grandchildren, Taylor Alexandra Kelly and Cassidy Horn; ex-husband, Jerry Horn; dear friend, Betty Upton and many loving friends. HUNTZINGER Ada (Davidson) Huntzinger, age 80, of Aiea, Hawaii, born in New Orleans, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2002, formerly of Columbus. Graduate of West High, Navy veteran World War II, past state regent Hawaii DAR. Preceded in death by daughter Dinah. Survived by husband, Robert; sons, David and Douglas; sister, Dorothy Grant; five grandchildren; one great-grandson; several nieces, nephews and cousins. JACKSON Beulah Jackson, age 79, September 16, 2002 at Grant Hospital. Preceded in death by Johnny Jackson, parents Joseph and Roella Gibson, five brothers, three sisters. KRAMER Sandra M. Rausch Kramer, age 56, of Marysville, died Thursday, September 12, 2002 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was as associate of WECU Credit Union for over 15 years and was a longtime sales representative for Avon. A dedicated and loving wife and daughter, her primary devotion was to her children. She was a life member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church where she was baptized and confirmed. She was involved with New Hope Community Fellowship and enjoyed reading, flowers and floral gardening and collecting hummingbird figurines. She was a 1964 graduate of Fairbanks High School and received a business degree in Columbus following high school. She was born May 7, 1946 in Union County to the late Erwin and Marie Bunsold Rausch. She was also predeceased by a niece, Suzanne Kidwell. She is survived by her husband, Myron L. Kramer whom she married October 9, 1971 at St. John's Lutheran Church; four children, Ryan, Ethan, Bethany and Anthony Kramer; a sister, June (Jimmy) Carmean; and two brothers, Thomas (Jeanine) Rausch and Roger (Sandy) Rausch, all of Marysville; her father and mother-in-law, Leon and Martha Kramer of Marysville; two sisters-in-law, Valerie Kramer of Portsmouth and Kim (Dave) Ragan of Idaho; an aunt, Christine Simmons of Marysville; and numerous nieces, nephews and loving friends. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at St. John's Evangelical Church. Rev. Thomas S. Hackett will officiate and burial will be at the church cemetery. LANCASTER Donald Eugene Lancaster, age 89, 4301 Stoner Dr. Apt. 213, Grove City, died at 7:45 a.m. Saturday, August 31, 2002 in Monterey Care Center, Grove City after a lengthy illness. He was born July 3, 1913 in Niles, Ohio the son of Floyd J. and Eva Ellen Utt Lancaster. He lived the last eight years of his life in Grove City and previously lived in Warren, Ohio for 16 years and Parkman, Ohio for 30 years. Mr. Lancaster was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Grove City, Ohio. He was a member of the Parkman Volunteer Fire Department. Mr. Lancaster earned a Boys Scouts of America Silver Beaver Leadership award and Boys Scouts of America Order of the Arrow award. He served many young men in the Boy Scouts. Mr. Lancaster also received the Red Cross Disaster Volunteer Outstanding Service award; and the Shepherd of the Valley six years of dedicated service award, where he also was on the Board of Managers. He also served as back-up manager for Grove Place, Grove City for 4 years. Survivors include his wife, Pearl Brown Lancaster whom he married March 30, 1940; a daughter, Pearlene Uhrin of Grove City; a son, Eugene Lancaster of Bristolville; four grandchildren, John Uhrin, Michele Buckingham (Uhrin), Mark Lancaster and Lynn Whitmore; 11 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Margaret Henninger Jr. of Girard. He was preceded in death by two brothers Albert and Ted Lancaster, a sister Fayma Jones and a granddaughter Jill Lancaster. A memorial service will be held 4 p.m. Sunday, September 15, 2002 at Grovewood Place, 4301 Stoner Dr., Grove City, Ohio with the Pastor Donald Allman officiating from St. John's Lutheran Church in Grove City, Ohio. MASON Vera E. Mason, age 84, of West Jefferson, formerly of Lancaster and McArthur, passed away Friday, September 13, 2002 in West Jefferson. She was born July 23, 1918 in McArthur, Vinton County, the daughter of the late Austin Ora and Fannie Bone Ringer. She was a graduate of McArthur High School. She was a homemaker and a long-time member of the Jehovah's Witnesses. She is survived by two sons, Larry E. Mason of Lancaster and Paul E. (Tennessee) Mason of West Jefferson; four grandchildren, Larry Keith Mason of Lancaster, Karen Mason (James) Jewell of Dublin, and Robyn J. (Robert) Gottschall and Jennifer L. (Nathan) Chobo, both of Plain City; three great-grandchildren, Brian and Aaron Mason of Canal Winchester and Gretchen Jewell of Dublin; step-grandchildren, Vickie (Rob) Erdy and Glen (Mimi) Burchfield, both of Glouster, and Debbie (Walter) Ringhiser and Tonia (Pat) Sherritt, both of Logan; 12 step-great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Delbert Edwin Mason in 1990, a sister Esther Lenore Ringer, and a daughter-in-law Linda Lou Brenick Mason in June of 2002. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 21, 2002 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1051 Sugar Grove Road, Lancaster, with Carey M. Ball officiating. No calling hours will be observed. Caring cremation has taken place. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family at Elk cemetery, McArthur. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, Fairfield County Unit, 151 Lake St., Lancaster Oh. 43130 or the local Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.
