She was preceded in death by her parents Leslie and Doris Borton of Columbus. She is survived by sons, John Kotson of Austin, Texas and James Kotson of Loganville, Georgia; daughter, Peggy Morse of Long Beach, California; sisters, Sharon (Tim) Mitchell of Lithopolis, Ohio and Carol (Brian) Babcock of Churchville, NY; 6 grandchildren; nieces, nephews and a brother. Calling hours are 5-8 p.m., Tuesday, September 24 at SCHOEDINGER HILLTOP CHAPEL, where funeral will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, September 25, Reverend Kerry Reed officiating.

LESCO Joseph J. Lesco, age 92, Sunday, September 22, 2002 at the Kobacker House after a short illness. Born October 15, 1909, the son of John and Mary Lesko. Lifetime member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. Veteran WW II U.S. Army and lifetime member of VFW Post 9857. Survived by his good friend and caretaker, Annabelle Vella; and several great nieces and nephews. Friends may call Tuesday 2-5 p.m. at the EGAN-RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 403 E. MILLER Doris Ruth Miller, 84, departed this earthly life Thursday, September 19, 2002 at the Manor Care of Westerville. She was a loving mother to her devoted son David (Maria) Miller; a loving grandmother to her grandchildren Brian, Laura (Matt) McDaniel and Nathan. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years Kenneth Miller. A family service and interment will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, September 26, 2002 at Forest Lawn Memorial Garden Chapel, 5600 E. Broad Street. McCLELLAN Ballard McClellan, Jr., age 61, Saturday, September 21, 2002. Member of Shining Light Baptist Church of Hilliard, where he was an Honorary Deacon. Employed for 35 years by Columbus Coated Fabrics. Preceded in death by parents Ballard and Burvie McClellan and brother James R. McClellan. Survived by loving wife of 39 years, Betty; son, Gene Allen of Columbus; granddaughters, Brooke N. and Kelsea T.; brother and sisters, Raymond P. (Betty) McClellan, Belva (Wallace) Baker, all of Warren, Georgia (Don) Hall of London; sister-in-law, Relma McClellan; numerous other loving relatives and a host of friends. O'BRIEN, O.P. Sister Mary George O'Brien, O.P. (1909-2002). On Friday morning, September 20, in the presence of her Dominican Sisters, Sr. Mary George died peacefully in Mohun Health Care Center. Sister was born in New York City 93 years ago, daughter of George and Mary (Corcoran) O'Brien who were natives of Ireland. She received her early education at Annunciation School in Manhattan, and at the Pius X School with the Madames of the Sacred Heart. In 1931 she came to Columbus, Ohio to the novitiate of the Dominican Sisters where she has served as a professed member for 71 years. In preparation for her teaching ministry she attended St. Mary of the Springs College and then received a Master's degree in history from Fordham University. She spent her first sixteen years teaching in elementary schools. Then in 1947 she was appointed superior and principal of Holy Trinity High School in Somerset, a position she filled for six years. She was actively engaged in teaching for 62 years, and 41 of those years were spent in the Archdiocese of New York. From 1959 to 1967 she served as sub-prioress at Mary Immaculate School, in Ossining and the last 26 years of her active ministry, from 1967 to 1993, were spent in one place, her beloved Dominican Academy in New York. In 1993 she returned to Columbus and three years later her health required that she enter Mohun Health Care Center. Sr. Mary George will be remembered by her students as well as her sisters as a gentle woman with a genuine concern for their welfare and a willingness to be available for them. Hers was a long and faithful life. Sister is survived by a number of nieces and nephews in New York and in Florida. The wake will be in the Motherhouse on Tuesday, September 24 from 2-4 and 5-6 p.m. A Vigil Service of Remembrance will be on Tuesday from 4-5 p.m. in the Chapel. The funeral liturgy will be in the Motherhouse Chapel on Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. Burial will take place at St. Joseph's cemetery on Wednesday morning following a 10 a.m. Farewell Service at the Motherhouse. OLFENBUTTEL Ingrid Olfenbuttel, age 63, of Upper Arlington, passed away September 20, 2002, after fighting a challenging battle with pancreatic cancer. She remained strong and beautiful as she passed peacefully at home, surrounded by family. Born in Emden, Germany on October 29, 1938, she was the youngest of five siblings and grew up during WWII on the North Sea island of Borkum. After extensive travel in Europe, she attended university in Madrid, Spain and later came to the United States. In 1969, she met Robert Olfenbuttel in Florida and they were married in January of 1970. After Robert's retirement from the Air Force, they moved to Upper Arlington and Ingrid lovingly made this new place "home". She returned to banking in 1990, first with Century Bank and then by proudly helping to open and work for the Arlington Bank. After helping hundreds of customers, she retired in 2000 and enjoyed gardening, rescuing stray animals, antiquing and helping her daughters decorate their homes. She is preceded in death by her parents Astrid and Horst Kessler. She is survived by her caring husband, Robert; daughters, Astrid and Colleen; sisters, Astrid Flanders of Michigan and Helga Franssen of Germany; brothers, Udo Kessler of Florida and Rolf Kessler of Germany; several nieces and nephews whom she showered with children's books and was known as "The Book Aunt". No funeral services will be held, but a private celebration of her life will be held for family and close friends. In lieu of flowers, friends may help further research on this little understood cancer by sending contributions to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PANCAN), 2221 Rosecrans Ave., Suite 131, El Segundo, CA 90245 in her memory.

PARKER Dustin James Parker, age 16, of Grove City, passed away Friday, September 20, 2002 at his residence. He was born November 4, 1985 and was preceded in death by his father Bobby, grandparents William and Jean Rausch, and uncle Michael Rausch. He is survived by his mother, Tonya; brother, Dylon; foster brother, David; aunts, Sharon Mason of Thornport and Susan Boyer of Lancaster and several cousins. Calling hours 2-5 p.m. Sunday at SCHOEDINGER-NORRIS CHAPEL, 3920 Broadway, Grove City where the funeral will be held 1 p.m. Monday. Pastor Debbie Ketcham, officiating. Interment at Grove City cemetery. Sherry Mason, Judy Wilson, Ruth Fenton, Jenny Steen, Dylon Parker and Pauline Hadinger will serve as pall bearers. PHILLIPS Michael G. Phillips, age 47, of Canal Winchester died suddenly Saturday, September 21, 2002 as a result of an auto accident. Employed with the Ohio Department of Transportation. Survived by children, Stacy, Joshua, and Michael; former wife, Brenda Phillips; brothers, Tom (Kathy) Sorge, James (Patricia) Phillips, Patrick (Julia) Phillips and Paul (Lori) Phillips; many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents Eugene C. and Mildred B. (McGrew) Phillips and brother Raymond Sorge. Friends may visit Tuesday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the DWAYNE R. SPENCE FUNERAL HOME, 650 W. RANDALL John R. "Jack" Randall, age 88, Friday September 20, 2002, Riverside Hospital. Member of Maple Grove United Methodist Church. Survived by wife, Mabel Clara "Peg" and family. RODABAUGH (KARRER) Margaret Karrer Rodabaugh, of Columbus and formerly of Plain City, Ohio, died on September 21, 2002, surrounded by family at Riverside Methodist Hospital. She was born on December 24, 1914 in Carey, Ohio, the daughter of George I. and Minnie (Stoll) Pahl. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years Dr. Herman E. Karrer, a grandson Andrew E. Karrer, brothers Gerald and Leroy Pahl and sister Martha (Pahl) White. She is survived by her husband of seven years, Dr. Galon Rodabaugh; sister, Catherine Long; sons, George H. (Carol) Karrer and John P. Karrer; grandchildren, Matthew Karrer and James (Paula) Karrer; also, Steve (Carol) Rodabaugh, Carol (Jack) Benninger, Ron (Sue) Rodabaugh, Priscilla Baker, their families; numerous nieces and nephews. Margaret was a 1937 graduate of the St. Francis School of Nursing in Columbus and worked as a nursing supervisor. After marriage in 1939, she served as office nurse in family practice in Plain City with her husband Herman, for 44 years. Margaret was a 50 year member of the King's Daughters, Plain City Book Club and the Plain City Presbyterian Church. She will be remembered for her keen sense of humor, love of nature, generosity and Christmas cookies. Family will receive friends at the FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, 202 E. Main St., (Rt. 161W), Plain City, from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, September 25. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, at the Plain City Presbyterian Church, the Rev. Don Hilkerbaumer and Dr. Charles Stenner officiating. Interment will follow at Dublin Community cemetery. ROSS Lorraine M. Ross, age 78, Friday, September 20, 2002 at Mt. Carmel East. Former member of Holy Rosary and Miraculous Medal Parishes. Retired from National City Bank Trust Dept. Preceded in death by husband John (Jack), infant sons John II and Kevin. SCHNEGELSBERGER Michael "Mike" S. Schnegelsberger, 53, of Powell, Saturday, September 21, 2002 in Hocking Hills as a result of a bicycling accident. Employee of Metal Container for 25 years. Member of Westerville Bicycle Club and was an avid bicyclist and rode many miles with his cycling friends. Preceded in death by his father Donald. SCHNEIDER Barbara B. Schneider, 71, died September 20, 2002 at her residence. She is preceded in death by parents Bill and Grace Havens. She is survived in life by devoted husband of 52 years, C. Donn Schneider; children, Teresa (Bob) Milbery, Jeff Schneider, Heidi Schneider, Megan Yannie, and Bart (Denise) Schneider; grandchildren, Janie B., Dan and John Cancila, and Matthew Yannie; and also a team of wonderful caregivers. She was the Director of Christian Education at Trinity Episcopal Church and retired as Administrative Assistant at St. Vincent's Children's Center. She loved the Buckeyes. SOMMER Kathleen H. (Kate) Sommer, age 58, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, September 20, 2002. Kate was an unconditionally loving mother and all accepting person whose mystical spirit touched us all. She served as the Director of Supportive Services at the Open Shelter in Columbus during the mid-80's through the late 90's, where she made thousands of differences. Most recently, Kate was focusing on her work as a gifted artist. She was getting busy 'living'. Kate Sommer was an extraordinary human being. Kate is survived by her three children, Edward D.A. "Aaron" Sommer, Tobias I. "Toby" Sommer and Heidi Sommer McAlister, their caring and supportive spouses, Pamela J. (Pam) Sommer, Tacy K. Sommer and Ryan J. McAlister; grandchildren, Phelicia, Aron and Ian; longtime friend, Lee Sims; brother and sister-in-law, Robert "Bob" and Janet Miller and their children. She was preceded in passing by her parents Irvin and Mary Miller and her brother John. SPOHN Franz E. Spohn, age 84, passed away September 21, 2002 at Riverside Hospital. A retired contractor, co-founder and member of the Central Ohio Chapter of the Associated Builders and Contractors. Graduate of South High School, Class of 1936. U.S. Army Air Corp Veteran of WW II. Member of Christ Lutheran Church. Member of Berwick Kiwanis. A Masonic member of Bexley and Ralph Rickly Lodges. Franz was always a determined and dedicated worker who loved to travel and was very proud of his German heritage. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jeanne. A loving father to his children, Phil (Rita) Spohn of Stockton, CA, Franz F. Spohn of Rockdale, PA, and Patricia (Jim) McPeak of Defiance, OH; grandchildren, Jessica Spohn, Gina Crivelli, Sarah McPeak, and Elise McPeak; sister, Jaqueline Routch; nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.
