Louise M. Beck
Tiffin residents brother

Louise M. Beck, 83, of 1201 Clinton St., Fremont, died at 12:35 p.m., Wednesday, March 17, 1999 at the Medical College Hospital, Toledo. She was born June 19, 1915 in Fremont to Earl and Luella (Brockman) Leonard. She married Harold Beck; he passed away March 17, 1986.

Surviving is her brother, Robert Leonard of Tiffin.

Mrs. Beck was a 1933 graduate of Hoss High School and member of the VFW Auxiliary and the Eagles. She worked for Fremont Tool and Die, and retired in 1980.

There will be no visitation or services. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Keller-Ochs-Koch Funeral Home, Fremont.

Jean M. Wagner
Homemaker

Jean M. Wagner, 64, of 419 Clinton Ave., Tiffin, died at 11:25 a.m., Wednesday, March 17, 1999 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo. She was born in Tiffin on Jan. 4, 1935 to Duraine and Kathryn (Beidelschies) Welch, both preceded her in death. On May 15, 1973 she married Robert E. Wagner, and he survives.

Other survivors include: a daughter, Kathy S. Gundlach of Sandusky; two step-sons, James R. Wagner of Republic, and Richard E. Wagner of Tiffin; a brother, Duraine E. welch of IL.; a grandson, Matthew Gundlach; and two step-grandsons, Rusty and Ryan Wagner.

Preceded in death was a step-child.

Mrs. Wagner was a graduate of Columbian High School, she worked for nine years as an aid at the Tiffin State Hospital, now the Tiffin Developmental Center, and a member of the Protestant faith.

The Rev. Ted Austin will officiate the 1:30 p.m., Saturday, March 20, 1999 service at the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home. Burial will be at Fairmont cemetery.

Visitation hours are from 7-9 p.m., tonight at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Seneca County Humane Society.

Paul Chalmers Boyd
Former Tiffin physician

Paul Chalmers Boyd, 49, of 2029 Saratoga Dr., Findlay, died at 11 p.m., Wednesday, March 17, 1999 at the Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center, Findlay.He was born March 30, 1949 to James and Minnie (Brown) Boyd; both are deceased. On April 15, 1978 he married Jo Ann (Skinner) Boyd, and she survives.

Other survivors include: three sons, Andrew, Matthew, and Stephen Boyd, all at home in Findlay; two sisters, Mrs. Stewart (Anne) Baillie of Ontario, and Mrs. William (Sandra) MacGillivaly of New Brunswick; a close cousin, Ruth McDonald of Nova Scotia.

Mr. Boyd graduated with a Bachelor Degree from the University of New Brunswick, received his medical degree from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He practiced medicine in North Sydney, Nova Scotia for 18 years, in Tiffin for two years, and in Findlay for 1 1/2 years with Physicians Plus.

The Pastor Ben Borsay will officiate the 2 p.m., Sunday, March 21, 1999 service at the Coldren-Crates Funeral Home, Findlay. The burial location is private, no visitation is scheduled.

Glencairn James Giffen
Clyde resident

Glencairn James Giffen, 85, of Fairhome Ave., Clyde, died Tuesday, March 16, 1999 at Fremont Memorial Hospital. He was born Feb. 13, 1914 to James G. and Lottie (Charolette Anton) Giffen, both deceased. On Feb. 14, 1942, he married Kathleen Gnepper, and she survives.

Surviving includes: a daughter, Margaret (Peggy) Giffen of San Antonio, Texas.

Preceded in death were: adopted siblings, John, Tom and Charles Anton, and Annie (Anton) Gruver.

Mr. Giffen was a 1932 graduate of Clyde High School, played guitar and lead vocal with the Smith's Tennesseans. He worked at Davidson Enamel Company and Hughes Granite Company, served in the U.S. Army beginning in 1942, and retired with honors after 20 years, which included WW II and the Korean Conflict. He worked with the city of Clyde in the Water Treatment plant until his retirement in 1979, re-established the Clyde museum in the basement of Clyde Public Library, and served as director until 1981. He was one of the original founders of the Clyde Heritage League Inc., acquired the old city hall for the league and was an active member in the Sandusky Co. Historical Society. He established the original County Fair in Clyde, helped raise funds for the Clyde Swimming Pool and Gus Wolfe park. He also taught local history at Terra Community's Elder College, volunteered at Back to the Wild and Sandusky Co. Parks, where he gave lectures on Insects and nature.

The Rev. David Herron will officiate the 1:30 p.m., Monday, March 22, 1999 service at Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, Clyde. Burial will be at the McPherson cemetery, Clyde.

Visitation hours are from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Sunday, at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Sandusky Co. Park Board or to Back to the Wild in Castalia, Ohio.

Timothy S. Hoffman
Clyde resident

Timothy S. Hoffman, 49, of Spring St., Clyde, died Wednesday, March 17, 1999 at Bellevue Hospital. He was born Nov. 11, 1949 to John J. and Ethel Irene (Culler) Hoffman, both are deceased. On Nov. 4, 1989 he married Alison Sanford, and she survives.

Other survivors include: a daughter, Courtney Gonyer of Clyde; six brothers, John J., James E., and Charles Hoffman, all of Clyde, Francis E. Hoffman of Fremont, Leo T. Hoffman of FL., and Christopher Hoffman of TX.; and a sister, Mrs. Roman (Ethel M.) Fisher of Fremont.

Preceded in death were: two brothers, Dale and Louis Hoffman; and a sister Mary E. Hoffman.

Mr. Hoffman was a Clyde High School graduate., He worked as a TV repairman for LaMar Joseph Company in Fremont. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and, more recently, the First Presbyterian Church, both of Clyde.

The Monsignor Edward Dunn and the Rev. Alec McLean will officiate the 11 a.m., Tuesday, March 23, 1999 service at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Clyde. Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery.

Visitation hours are from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m., Monday, March 22, 1999 at the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home in Clyde.

Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Helen Dorothy Grill
Retired Visiting Teacher

Helen Dorothy Grill, 96, formerly of Riverside Drive, Tiffin, died at 1:35 a.m. Friday, March 19, 1999 in Autumnwood Care Center of Tiffin. She was born in Tiffin, December 19, 1902, to Frederick and Nellie (Hahrer) Grill.

Survivors include: a foster brother, James Abrams of Tiffin, a foster sister, Shirley (Grill) Goldman of Bowling Green, and neices and nephews.

Ms. Grill, a 1920 graduate of Columbian High School, received a Bachelor Degree from Sweet Briar College of the state of Virginia and did additional post-graduate study at the New York School of Social Work. She had worked for the State of Ohio Adoption Investigation, taught second grade at Noble School, worked as a Probation Officer for the Juvenile Court and was a Visiting Teacher for the Tiffin City School System for 35 years. She was a member of several organizations including: Tiffin Woman's Club, Salvation Army Board, American Association of University Women, Presbyterian Church Women's Association, Girl Scout Leader and Scout Camp Director.

Rev. Richard E. Mahlmann and Dr. Arthur Geyh will officiate at the 1:30 p.m., Monday, March 22, 1999, services at the First Presbyterian Church of Tiffin with burial in Greenlawn Cemetary.

Visitation is from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the Turner-Engle Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army, Autumnwood Care Center, or the First Presbyterian Church.

Dean J. Bauer
Sandusky Resident

Dean J. Bauer, 76, of 2316 Westwind Drive, Sandusky, died late Friday morning, March 19, 1999, at the Lutheran Memorial Home, Sandusky, after a long illness.

Arrangements and survivors to be announced later by the David F. Koch Funeral Home, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky.

Patricia A. Sanders
Formerly of Toledo

Patricia A. Sanders, 62, formerly of Toledo, died Thursday, March 18, 1999, at St. Vincent Medical Center, Toledo. She enjoyed caring for her family, her friends and traveling.

Preceded in death by her husband, she is survived by her mother, Anna Rose McDermott; sons, William R. Sanders, Jr., Dennis M. Sanders, and Larry W. Sanders; daughter Theresa J. Sanders-Violanti; 14 grandchildren; brother, Tom McDermott; and sisters, Judy DeLaTorre and Mary Ann Thompson.

Friends may call at the Foth-Dorfmeyer Mortuary, 3815 Sylvania Ave., Toledo, Sunday from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, March 22, 1999, at 2 p.m. in St. Jerome Catholic Church, 300 Warner St., Walbridge, OH, with interment at Restlawn Memorial Park.

The family prefers memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society.

Mariah Kayli Keegan
Infant daughter

Mariah Kayli Keegan, infant, of County Road 224, Clyde, died March 18, 1999, at the Fremont Memorial Hospital.

She is survived by parents, Scott and Amy (Elswick) Keegan; brother, Kyle and sister, Tasha; Maternal Grandparents, Gene and Sandra Elswick, Port Clinton and Paternal Grandparent Ruth Keegan, Fremont; Great Maternal, Opal Elswick and Kate Runion, Port Clinton; Great Paternal, Ada Keegan, Green Springs. She is preceded by Paternal Grandfather, Tom Keegan.

Rev. Kevin Pinkerton will officiate at the 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 22, 1999, services at the Lay-Butternut ridge Cemetary, Clyde. Arrangements made by: Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, Clyde, Ohio.

Doris E. Wagner
Homemaker

Doris E. Wagner, 67, of 761 West Co. Rd. 16, Tiffin, died at 8:50 a.m. Thursday, March 18, 1999, at her home.

She was born in Tiffin July, 14, 1931, to Clyde and Ilo (Culver) Barnes, who preceded her in death. On September 28, 1952 she married James T. Wagner, he survives.

Also surviving are children: Mrs. Thomas (Kathy) Ward, Bloomville; Mrs. Robert (Susan) Gawronski, Toledo; Mr. Daniel J. Wagner, Mansfield; Mr. Duane A. Wagner, Nevada; 6 grandchildren, sisters: Mrs. Mabel Barrett, Tiffin; Mrs. Mary Swerlein, Upper Sandusky; brothers: Mr. Paul Barnes, Prospect; Mr. Clyde Barnes, Jr., Bucyrus; and Mr. Vern Barnes, Bellevue. She is preceded in death by 3 sisters and 3 brothers.

A 1950 graduate of Melmore High School, Mrs. Wagner was a member of the Eden Grange #2550,the Harmony Ladies Aide, the Harmony United Methodist Church's Missions Board, and the Northeast District Missions Board. She was a former Sunday School teacher and was involved with Junior Church and the Youth Ministry of the church.

Funeral Services will be held at Walton-Moore Funeral Home at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 22, 1999, with burial at Seneca Memory Gardens, Tiffin. Visitation is set for Sunday, March 21, 1999 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Walton-Moore Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Harmony United Methodist Church, Community Hospice Care or donor's choice.

Herbert E. Musselman
Former Whirlpool Corp. employee

Herbert E. Musselman, 74, of Franks Avenue, Clyde, died Saturday, March 20, 1999, at St. Francis Nursing Home in Green Springs.

He was born July 4, 1924, in Tiffin to the late George and Pauline Ann (Myers) Musselman. On April 17, 1954, he married Gladys Stroshine, and she preceded him in death Oct. 18, 1998.

Survivors include: a brother, James Musselman of Bellevue; and two sisters, Mrs. William (Mary) Stevenson of Fostoria, and Mrs. Robert (Alice) Snook of Florida.

A 1942 Columbian High School graduate, Mr. Musselman was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Clyde, where he had been the youth choir director and active in the Boy Scout program. He was a member of Clyde Eagles and Clyde Moose, having served as the Eagle president for 12 years. He was also a member of the Green Springs Band.

He was a purchasing agent for Whirlpool Corp., Clyde, retiring in 1983.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Clyde, with the Rev. Steve Wood officiating. Burial will be in Clay Center cemetery.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, Clyde, with Eagles and Moose services beginning at 7 p.m.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, Forest Street, Clyde, or to Sandusky County Hospice, Clyde.

Worthy O. Hassan
Former truck driver

Worthy O. Hassan, 77, of 1215 E. Bigelow Ave., Findlay, died at 7:45 a.m. Saturday, March 20, 1999, at the Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center Emergency Room.

He was born April 6, 1921, in Findlay to Dewey R. and Leora B. (Stevens) Hassan. He married Ella Belle Musgrave July 23, 1962, and she survives.

Also surviving are: three daughters, Linda Smith of Gahanna, Mrs. Bill (Brenda) Wilson of Milford, N.H., and Mrs. Ora (Jean) Preston of Tiffin; two brothers, Otis Hassan of Swan Sea, S.C., and George Hassan of Tucson, Ariz.; two sisters, Viola Zellers of Findlay and Velma Kubiak of Toledo; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Mr. Hassan worked as a truck driver and mechanic. He worked for 16 years at Garwood, then at Automatic Feed Co. in Napoleon. He retired from Hancor Inc. and most recently repaired air compressors at A.C.M.

He served in World War II Army Air Corps with the 51st Fighter Squadron. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, Findlay, and a former member of Ralph D. Cole Post 3, American Legion.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Kirkpatrick-Behnke Funeral Home. The Rev. Gene Milioni will officiate, and burial will be in Memory Gardens cemetery, Arcadia. Military rites will be conducted by the Hancock Veterans Memorial Squad.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Dean J. Bauer
Sandusky resident

Dean J. Bauer, 76, of 2316 Westwind Drive, Sandusky, died late Friday morning, March 19, 1999, at the Lutheran Memorial Home in Sandusky.

He was born in Sandusky May 1, 1922, to the late Albert and Bertha (Tracy)Bauer. He married Florence B. "Flo" Seasly and she preceded him in death.

Survivors include: two sons, Dr. James D. Bauer of Lebanon, Ore., and Daniel A. Bauer of Sandusky; and five grandchildren.

A 1941 graduate of Sandusky High School, Mr. Bauer was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served with the Combat Engineers during World War II.

He had owned and operated Bellevue Meats and Plaza Meats in the Sandusky Plaza. He was a partner in the Impala Restaurant and Lounge and had worked at Wikel Mfg. He then went to work with his son, Dan, at Ohio Asphalt Maintenance, Inc., until semi-retiring.

He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, a life member of the Sandusky Elks Lodge 285 and AMVETS Post 17. He was a member of American Legion Post 83, VFW Post 2529 and a social member of the Italian-American Beneficial Club. A 50-year member of the Sandusky Yacht Club, he was formerly a member of the Catawba Island Club.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. today at the David F. Koch Funeral Home, 520 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m.

Prayers will be recited 9:40 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, followed by a Mass at 10 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Ave. The Rev. Mark Davis will officiate. Burial will be in Oakland cemetery, Sandusky.

Memorial contributions may be given to Stein Hospice Service, the Lutheran Memorial Home, Sts. Peter and Paul School Endowment Fund, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
