Cleo B. (Lanning) Carper
Bettsville homemaker

Cleo B. (Lanning) Carper, 87, of Bettsville, died at 8:10 p.m. Saturday, March 20, 1999, in the Bethesda Care Center, Sandusky County, Fremont, where she had been a resident for six weeks.

She was born July 1, 1911, in Kansas, Ohio, to Chester and Mina (Meek) Lanning. On Feb. 18, 1932, she married Glenn Carper, who preceded her in death in 1994.

Surviving are: three sons, Gene R. Carper of Tiffin, Dr. N. Gordon Carper of Rome, Ga. and Kenneth M. Carper of Centerville; a daughter, Mrs. Jack (Eileen) Warner of Bettsville; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; a brother, Harold Lanning of Phoenix, Ariz.; and two sisters, Irene Blodgett of Fremont and Freida Sabo of Kansas, Ohio.

A grandson; five brothers, Ted, Walter, Dee, Clifford and Glen Lanning; and three sisters, Helen, Gladys and Ethel, are deceased.

A homemaker, Mrs. Carper attended the Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Amsden High School.

The Rev. Mike Starky will be the officiant at the 10:30 a.m. Wednesday service in the Engle Funeral Home of Bettsville. Burial will be in Pleasant Union cemetery, Old Fort.

Visitation at the funeral home will be 7-9 p.m. Tuesday.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Walter G. Bean
Bellevue resident

Walter G. Bean, 49, died at 9 a.m. Sunday, March 21, 1999, at his home at 800 N. Main St., Bellevue.

He was born in Tiffin, July 1, 1949, the son of the late Warren P. and Alma L. (Magers) Bean. He had never married .

Survivors include: four brothers, Thomas H., Lloyd E. and Earl L. Bean, all of Bellevue and Warren P. Bean Jr. of Findlay; a sister, Mrs. Rick (Patricia) Rohrbacher, also of Bellevue; and several nieces and nephews and special friends.

Two brothers, Wilbur F. Sr. and Robert R. Bean, also are deceased.

Mr. Bean, a member of the Catholic Faith, had been employed as a laborer in factories and in construction.

A Vietnam veteran, serving 1969-70, he was a member of American Legion Post 46, Bellevue; DAV Chapter 34, Tiffin, where he was a life member and past commander and Bellevue VFW Post 1238, where he also was a life member.

Services in the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. William Rose officiating. Burial will be in Fairwell Retreat cemetery, Republic, where military graveside rites will be conducted by the United Veteran's Council.

Visitation at the funeral home will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Community Hospice Care or the donor's choice.

Wilbur E. 'Bud' Fuller
Nickel Plate Railroad retiree

Wilbur E. "Bud"Fuller, 77, of 107 Monroe St., Bettsville, died at 3:14 a.m. Sunday, March 21, 1999, in Memorial Hospital, Fremont, where he had been a patient for three days.

He was born in Ottawa, April 21, 1921, to Marshal and Grace (McCullough) Fuller. His wife, Patricia L. (Walters) DeVanna Fuller, whom he married Jan.15, 1955, in Fort Wayne, Ind., survives.

Other survivors include: a son, Darhl Fuller of Oakwood; a daughter, Mrs. Ron (Linda) Lomont of New Haven, Ind.; three step-children, Paul DeVanna of Tiffin, Donald DeVanna of Kansas, Ohio and Mrs. Michael (Susan) Windau of Bettsville; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Nelda Brenizer of Fort Wayne, Ind.

A sister, Jean Walters, is deceased.

Mr. Fuller, a World War II U.S. Army veteran, retired in 1983 from the Nickel Plate Railroad, where he had been employed for 47 years.

A resident of Bettsville since the 1940s, he was a member of James Sullivan Post-American Legion, Bettsville; the Moose Lodge, Fremont and a devoted fan of the Detroit Tiger Baseball Team.

An avid, dedicated golfer, he had been a member of Nature Trails Golf Club since its opening.

Private services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Engle Funeral Home of Bettsville. Burial will be in Pleasant Union cemetery, Old Fort.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Seneca County Heart Fund or the Seneca County Cancer Society.

Jay W. Miller
Retired security guard/farmer

Jay W. Miller, 77, a resident of the Autumn Court Nursing Home, Ottawa, formerly of Vine Street, Fostoria, died at 9:20 a.m. Saturday, March 20, 1999, in St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.

He was born June 28, 1921, in Vanlue, to Forrest and Essie (Thatcher) Miller. On June 25, 1948, in Bowling Green, he married Loma I. Ball, who survives in Fostoria.

Survivors also include: two daughters, Natley Peace and Dolorous "Doddi" Cramer, both of Fostoria; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A son, Paul Robin Miller; two brothers, John and William Miller and two sisters, Mary Lackey and Carolyn Amstutz, are deceased.

Mr. Miller, a U.S. Army veteran during World War II, retired in 1984 as a security guard for Pinkerton. Prior to that he was a farmer.

He was a member of Faith Tabernacle Pentacostal Church of God, Fostoria and the Disabled American Veterans.

He and his wife distributed bread and sweet rolls to the Fostoria Community for more than 12 years.

Services in the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria, will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, with the Rev. Donald Goodwin officiating. Burial will be in Fountain cemetery, Fostoria.

Visitation at the funeral home will be noon-1:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Michael A. Clagg
Fostoria resident

Michael A. Clagg, 40, of College Avenue, Fostoria, died at 7:03 a.m. Monday, March 22, 1999, in Fostoria Community Hospital. Arrangements are pending at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria..

James W. Marshall Jr.
Self-employed Tiffin resident

James W. Marshall Jr., 25, died at 6:20 a.m. Monday, March 22, 1999, at his residence at 143 Franklin St.

He was born in Tiffin March 9, 1974, to James W. Marshall Sr. and Julie A. Williams. His father survives in Galion and his mother in Tiffin.

Other survivors include: his maternal grandmother, Lena Williams of Tiffin; paternal grandmother, Fannie Marshall of Galion; a brother, Joe Marshall, also of Galion; a nephew and two nieces; a stepsister, Rachel Harmonie of Mansfield; and aunts, uncles and cousins.

His paternal grandfather, William Marshall, and maternal grandfather, Hugh Williams, are deceased..

Mr. Williams was self-employed.

Chaplain M.F. Crowley will be the officiant at the 11 a.m. Saturday service in the Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Joseph cemetery.

Visitation at the funeral home will be 10-11 a.m. Saturday.

Memorials may be made to the family or Community Hospice Care, Tiffin.

Herbert E. Musselman
Whirlpool purchasing agent

Herbert E. Musselman, 74, of Franks Avenue, Clyde, died Saturday, March 20, 1999, in St. Francis Nursing Home, Green Springs.

He was born July 4, 1924, in Tiffin, to George and Pauline Ann (Myers) Musselman. On April 17, 1954, he married Gladys Stroshine. She died Oct. 18, 1998.

Survivors include: a brother, James Musselman of Bellevue; and two sisters, Mrs. William (Mary) Stevenson of Fostoria and Mrs. Robert (Alice) Snook of Florida.

Mr. Musselman, a 1942 Columbian High School graduate, had been employed as a purchasing agent for Whirlpool Corp., Clyde, retiring in 1983.

A long-time Clyde area resident, he was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Clyde, where he had been the youth choir director (now retired) and active in the Boy Scout programs.

He also was a member of the Green Springs Band; Clyde Eagles, which he served as president for 12 years; and the Clyde Moose.

Services in St. Paul Lutheran Church, Clyde, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, with the Rev. Steve Wood officiating. Interment will be in Clay Center cemetery.

Visitation at the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, Clyde, is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today, where Clyde Eagles and Moose services will begin at 7.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, Forest Street, Clyde, or Sandusky County Hospice, Clyde.

Beulah G. Tomb
Gibson Street homemaker

Beulah G. Tomb, 86, 171 Gibson Court, died at 11:50 a.m. Monday, March 22, 1999, in the Emergency Care Center of Mercy Hospital of Tiffin.

She was born in Buford, Ohio, May 5, 1912, to Clarence and Edith (Tice) Yochum. Her husband, Webb D. Tomb, founder of Tomb and Hering Law Firm, whom she married Oct. 3, 1935, in Tiffin, died Sept. 17, 1977.

Surviving are: two daughters, Mrs. Burton B. (Jane) Park of Tiffin and Mrs. Donald F. (Rebecca) Miller of Sarasota, Fla.; a grandchild and a great-grandchild.

A homemaker, Mrs. Tomb was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ.

The Rev. William Smith will be the officiant at the 11 a.m. Saturday, April 10, graveside service in Greenlawn cemetery.

There will be no visitation. The Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the church or Tiffin-Seneca Public Library.

Earlean (West) Mosby
Fostoria Community Hospital retiree

Earlean (West) Mosby, 78, of 855 Lynn St., Fostoria, died at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 23, 1999, in The Cleveland Clinic.

She was born June 9, 1920, in Olive Branch, Miss., to Cornelia and Narcia (Wright) West. Her husband, Elbert Mosby, is deceased.

Survivors include: a daughter, Allene Smith of Fostoria; nine grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchldren.

Also preceding her in death were four brothers and a sister.

Mrs. Mosby had been employed in housekeeping for 13 years at the Fostoria Community Hospital, retiring in 1985.

The Rev. Ronald Brown will be the officiant at the 10:30 a.m. Monday service in the Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria. Interment will be in Fountain cemetery, Fostoria.

Visitation at the funeral home will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Howard E. Zirger
Retired farmer/mail carrier

Howard E. Zirger, 80, formerly of 4685 N. TR 167, died at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 23, 1999, in the Eaglewood Care Center, Carey.

He was born in Canton, Feb. 11, 1919, to Milton and Anna (Stahl) Zirger. On July 20, 1946, in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Tiffin, he married Mary Jane Doran, who survives.

Other survivors include: a daughter, Mrs. Don (Joanne) Larsen of Findlay; and a grandson, David Larsen.

A brother, Clarence Zirger, is deceased.

Mr. Zirger, a 1937 Calvert High School graduate, had been employed as a farmer and mail carrier.

A World War II U.S. Army veteran, having served in England, he was a member of American Legion Post 169, N.A.R.F.E., St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Lake Plains Chapter of Barbershop Chorus and Big Brothers, of which he was the oldest member. He also had received the Big Brother of the Year Award.

A funeral Mass in St. Francis Home Chapel will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, with the Rev. Richard Dunn as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Joseph cemetery, where military graveside services will be conducted by the United Veterans Council.

Visitation at the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home will be 6-8 p.m. Friday and at St. Francis Home Chapel 9:30 a.m. Saturday until time of the Mass.

Memorials may be made to the church or St. Francis Home.

Ronald Andrew Culler
Construction employee

Ronald Andrew Culler, 29, died late Tuesday evening, March 23, 1999, at his home on Prospect Street, Clyde, following a long illness.

He was born Dec. 16, 1969, in Fremont, to Mr. and Mrs. Dennis (Mary Alice Kays) Culler. His father and mother survive in Clyde. He first married Shirley House on July 27, 1995, and she preceded him in death Dec. 3, 1997. His second wife, Kathy (Shelton) Culler, whom he married Oct. 12, 1998, in Erie, Pa., survives.

Survivors also include: two sons, Andrew and Adam Zahs, both of Clyde; a stepson, K.C. Jo Hall and stepdaughters, Kricket and Shayanne Hall and Heaven Lee Carter, all at home; stepchildren, Derick and Michelle Gerstenberger of Clyde; brothers, Dennis H. II and Brian E. Culler, both of Clyde; sisters, Sara Holman of Green Springs and Kathryn Burkett of Fremont; and his grandmother, Kathryn Culler of Clyde.

Also preceding him in death were his grandfather, Harold Culler.

Mr. Culler, a member of Clyde Eagles and Moose, was employed at Trendsetter Construction, Monroeville.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Foos-Klein Funeral Home, Clyde, with Pastor Ed Miller officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, Clyde.

Friends will be received at the funeral home 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday, where Clyde Eagles services will be at 7 and the Clyde Moose services will be at 7:15.

Memorials may be made to Mr. Culler's children, in care of the funeral home.
