Donald J. Thompson
Former Fostoria resident

Donald J. Thompson, 45, of 407 N. Walnut St., Mt. Holly Springs, Pa., formerly of Fostoria, died at 10:30 p.m. Sunday, March 28, 1999, in Carlisle Hospital, Carlisle, Ohio.

He was born Sept. 10, 1953, in Findlay, to Donald and Clara Jane (Miller) Thompson who both survive in Mt. Blanchard. His wife, Nancy C. (Finsel) Thompson, whom he married April 19, 1980, in the First Christian Church, Findlay, survives in Mt. Holly Springs.

Survivors also include: three daughters, Dawn M., Lori B. and Karen L., all at home; and two sisters, Lois Jean Shank of Bowling Green, Ky., and Nancy Rothlisberger of Mt. Blanchard.

A 1971 graduate of Riverdale High School, Mr. Thompson was employed at Excel Logistics, Mechanicsburg, Pa.

He was a member of Mt. Holly Springs VFW Post 7343.

The Rev. David Brown will be the officiant at the 10:30 a.m. Friday service in the Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria. Burial will be in Memory Gardens, near Arcadia.

Visitation at the funeral home will be 6-9 p.m. Thursday.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Paul E. Ross
Father of Tiffin resident

Paul E. Ross, 71, of 2261 Pike St., Sandusky, died Monday evening, March 29, 1999, in the Ohio Veterans Home, Sandusky, following a long illness.

He was born Dec. 11, 1927, in Mansfield. His mother, Lillie (Smith) Bellamy, and stepfather, Gillman Bellamy, and his father, Russell Ross, and stepmother, Ruth Ross, are deceased. His wife of 50 years, Mary Lou (Tracey) Ross, survives.

Other survivors include: three daughters, Mary Ann Kromer of Tiffin, Rita Ross of Austin, Texas, and Janet Nagy of West Haven, Conn.; four sons, Paul Ross of Marblehead, David Ross of Sandusky, Ron Ross of Huron and Richard Ross of Castalia; eight grandsons, five granddaughters and a great-grandson; a half sister, Mary Lou Sidders; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

He also was preceded in death by a grandson, Ryan Ross in 1990; and a brother, Richard Ross.

Mr. Ross, a retired carpenter, was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and also served in the Ohio Coast Guard Reserves.

A member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and the Ohio AMVETS Post 17, where he was a life member, he was a past member of Carpenters Local Union 940 and a former member of the Belles and Beaus Square Dance Club.

Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in the Groff Funeral Home, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, followed by a 10 a.m. mass in Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. The Rev. Frank Kehres will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery.

Visitation at the funeral home is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today.

Memorials may be made to the Ohio Veterans Home, 2 South and 2 North on-unit activities, in care of Activities Department, 3416 S. Columbus Ave., Sandusky, OH 44870 or the National Parkinson's Foundation Inc., 1501 N.W. 9th Ave./Bob Hope Road, Miami, FL 33136 or the donor's choice.

Corrine Mary Foster
Sister of Tiffin residents

Word has been received of the death of Corrine Mary Foster, 70, who died Sunday, March 14, 1999, in her home in Kearny, Ariz.

She was born in Oak Harbor, Sept. 10, 1928, to Edward R. and Maria K. (Guntsch) Smidutz, and went to Kearny with her husband, Harold in 1969.

Survivors include: her children, Mrs. Donnie (Kathleen) Harmon of Round Mountain, Nev., David Foster of Mesa, Ariz., Vicki Bidegain and Mark Foster, both of Kearny, and Mrs. Fred (Bonnie) Campos of Nevada; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; four brothers, Robert Smidutz of Tiffin, Donald Smidutz of Port Clinton, John Smidutz of Oak Harbor and William Smidutz of Westminster, Vt.

For many years Mrs. Foster worked as an optometry receptionist and was most recently employed in the office of Dr. Lamborn in Kearny.

She was a member of the Methodist Church of the Good Shepherd.

Services were March 18 in Kearny, with the Rev. Steve Choe officiating. The Griffith Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.

Loyola Sellers
Tiffin resident's mother

Loyola Sellers, 83, formerly of Howard Street, Clyde, died in Mercy Hospital of Tiffin Monday, March 29, 1999.

Born July 2, 1915, in Green Springs, to Norman J. and Fannie (Francico) Cleveland, she married Maurice Sellers, Aug. 22, 1933. He died March 15, 1985.

Surviving are: two sons, Robert Sellers of Tiffin and Dr. Maurice Eugene Sellers of San Antonio, Texas; two daughters, Mrs. Dean (Sandra) Scheerer of Clyde and Kayola Sellers of Toledo; a brother, Edwin B. Cleveland of Clyde; nine grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Sellers, a 1933 graduate of Green Springs High School, had been employed as a bookkeeper at Gold Bond Furniture in Tiffin.

She was a member of the former EUB Church (now Calvery Methodist Church) and the Grandmothers Club in Clyde, of which she was the founder and had established the drill team.

She also was a member of the State Grandmothers Club, of which she was past president; and a former member of Tiffin Eagles Auxiliary.

The Rev. John Bailey will be the officiant at the 10 a.m. Friday service in the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, Clyde. Interment will be in Green Springs cemetery.

Visitation at the funeral home will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday.

Memorials may be made to Sandusky County Hospice.

Minnie C. Smith
Retired Tiffin Enterprise employee

Minnie C. Smith, 60, of 575 E. SR 18, Apt. B-3, Tiffin, died at 12:50 a.m. Thursday, April 1, 1999. She was born June 12, 1938, to Roscoe and Stella (Perry) Goodin, who are deceased. Her first marriage was to Carl Snell. He survives. Her second marriage was to Roy Smith. He is deceased.

Survivors include: three sons, Carmel Lee Snell of McCutchenville, Roy Lee Smith of Honolulu, Hawaii, and Allen Mark Smith of Monroe City, Mo.; three stepsons, Ronnie, Mark and Joe Smith all of Missouri; a stepdaughter, Becky Bour of Missouri; a brother, Henry "Dick" Perry of Honey Bee, Ky.; two sisters, Mrs. James (Helen) Perry, and Zada Repp, both of Tiffin; eight grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were: two brothers, Ernest and Clarence Goodin, and three sisters, Ruby Lane, Eva Rohe and Faye Perry.

Mrs. Smith retired from Tiffin Enterprise and was a member of the DAV and the Carey Conservation Club.

Pastor Mark Lafferty will officiate the 10 a.m. Saturday service at the Turner-Engle Funeral Home. Burial will be in Fairmont cemetery.

Visitation hours are 5-9 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made in care of the family.

Bobby C. Hensley
Former General Electric employee

Bobby C. Hensley, 60, of Autumnwood Care Center, died at 7:35 a.m. Thursday, April 1, 1999. He was born Sept. 23, 1938, to Edgar "Ed" Hensley, who is deceased, and Julia Hall Lawson, who survives in Tiffin.

Survivors include: a son, Kevin D. Hensley of Tiffin, and a grandson, Domnic Hensley.

Mr. Hensley was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a machinist at General Electric of Tiffin and Largo, Fla. He attended Freewill Baptist Church, Tiffin.

The Rev. Watson Combs will officiate the noon Saturday service at the Turner-Engle Funeral Home. Burial will be in Fairmont cemetery.

Visitation hours are 6-9 tonight at the funeral home.

The United Veterans council will conduct a graveside service.

Memorials may be made to the Freewill Baptist Church.

Jane C. Naylor
Former Tiffin resident

Jane C. Naylor, 89, formerly of 214 S. Monroe St., Tiffin, more recently of Bellevue Care Center, Bellevue, following an extended illness, died at 12:30 a.m. Thursday, April 1, 1999. She was born Jan. 31, 1910, in Tiffin to Earl B. and Jennie (Beckley) Naylor. They are deceased.

Survivors include a brother, William T. Naylor of Atlanta, Ga., and a sister, Mary E. Doemel of Tiffin.

Preceding her in death were a brother, John E. Naylor, and a nephew, William T. Naylor Jr.

Ms. Naylor was a 1928 Columbian High School graduate and 1932 Ohio Wesleyan University graduate. She was a member of the Old Trinity Episcopal Church.

Private family graveside services at Greenlawn cemetery will be Saturday, with the Rev. John Trumble officiating.

There will be no visitation.

Memorials may be made to the Old Trinity Episcopal Church.

Reese Ison
Tiffin resident's father

Reese Ison, 78, of 257 W. Lynn St., Saint Paris, died at 4 a.m. Thursday, April 1, 1999. He was born Feb. 1, 1921, to George and Melissie (Ison) Ison. They are deceased. On June 27, 1985, he married Betty Ann (Welch) Ison. She survives.

Other survivors include: five sons, Don Mitchell, Jerry Ison and George Jeffrey Ison, all of Tiffin, Danny Ison of Talbott, Tenn., and David Ison of Dayton; four daughters, Patricia Hampton of Whitesburg, Ky., Betty Hall of Tiffin, Wanda Wagner of Talbott, Tenn., and Margaret Ison of Temple, Texas; a brother, Thomas Ison of Republic; 20 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents, four brothers and five sisters

Mr. Ison served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a staff sergeant. He retired in 1985 from the Chrysler Air Temp Co., Dayton.

Chaplain Clifford Kissinger will officiate the 1 p.m. Monday service at the Wickham & Atkins Funeral Home, 216 S. Springfield St., Saint Paris. Burial will be at Evergreen cemetery, West Troy Street, Saint Paris.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with V.F.W. memorial services at graveside by the Philip Grieser Memorial Post 7645, Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Neva Lee Fairchild
Bettsville homemaker

Neva Lee Fairchild, 77, of 100 Union St., Bettsville, died at 6:45 a.m. Wednesday, March 31, 1999, at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus. She was born Jan. 16, 1922, to William L. and Minerva E. (Conley) Blair. They are deceased. On Dec. 7, 1939, she married Cecil Fairchild. They were divorced.

Surviving are four sons, James Fairchild of Carey, Kenneth Fairchild of Savannah, Tenn., Lowell "Pete" Fairchild of Medway and Paul "Douglas" Fairchild of Bettsville; two daughters, Mrs. Ronald (Wanda) Clark and Mrs. Marvin (Judy) Jameson, both of Vanlue; a sister, Naomi Caudill of Ft. Gay, W.Va.; 18 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were a sister, Nellie, and a brother, George.

Ms. Fairchild was a homemaker and affiliated with the Baptist faith.

The Rev. Elsie Worst will officiate the 7 p.m. Monday service at the Stombaugh Memorial Funeral Home, Carey.

There will be no viewing, but the family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Monday.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association of Seneca County, c/o the funeral home.

Nondes B. McDaniel
Autumnwood Care Center resident

Nondes B. McDaniel, 93 of the Autumnwood Care Center, Tiffin, died at 8:47 a.m. Thursday, April 1, 1999.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Tiffin.

Visitation hours are 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at the Turner-Engle Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the service at First Baptist Church.

Nathan S. Hatfield
Dayfield Lab owner

Nathan S. Hatfield, 73, died Saturday, April 3, 1999, in Doctors Hospital West, Columbus.

Surviving are his wife, Jayne Hatfield; a daughter, Lisa Nadine Lovell; four stepchildren, Joe, John, Betty and Mary Kelly; a granddaughter and six step-grandchildren.

Mr. Hatfield, owner of Dayfield Laboratories where he was director of laboratories, was a member of the American Society of Clinical Chemists and American Society of Medical Technologists.

A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, he also was a member of the Civil War Round Table and Coin Club and St. Nicholas Episcopal Church. He also worked with Meals on Wheels for seven years.

Mr. Hatfield was a graduate of Franklin University, Ohio Technical College and the Ohio State University.

Memorial services will be at 7 p.m. Thursday in St. Nicholas Episcopal Church, 3500 Main St., Hilliard, with the Rev. Dr. Elizabeth Lilly officiating.

Memorials may be made to the church, Kidney Foundation or the American Cancer Society.
