Phila A. Wilson Badgley

MONTPELIER - Phila A. Wilson Badgley, 83, of Montpelier, died Wednesday evening, July 31, 2002, in Community Hospitals of Williams County-Bryan, following an illness. Funeral arrangements are pending at Wilson-Geesey Funeral Home, Montpelier.

Gale N. Brillhart
(1914 - 2002)

ARCHBOLD - Gale Nelson Brillhart, 88, of Archbold and formerly of West Unity, died Wednesday, July 31, 2002, at the Dilworth Center in Montpelier.
Born March 23, 1914, in Henry County, to Nora (Nelson) and Vernon Brillhart, he married Pauline (Stratton) McFarland on Sept. 29, 1990 and she survives.
A graduate of West Hope High School in Henry County, he attended Trade School in Chicago and became an aviation machinist in the U.S. Navy serving in Word War II. He then became a machinist for the Aro Corporation of Bryan for 32 years, retiring in 1979. He had also worked as a security guard for Mohawk in Montpelier and for Hollingshead Mortuary and Ambulance Transfer Service in West Unity. He was also a farmer in Williams County and was an elder and member of the First U.S.A. Presbyterian Church of West Unity for 43 years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, David Brillhart of Wilmington, N.C., Jonathan (and wife, Marjorie) Brillhart of Boaz, Ky., and Ralph (Joann) Brillhart of San Diego, Calif.; two daughters, Mrs. James (Peggy) Barton of Northwood and Beth Hale of Bryan; three stepdaughters, Mrs. Robert (Cheryl) Boldman and Mrs. Steven (Janna) Hay, both of West Unity, and Mrs. Stephen (Jodene) La Londe, Jr. of Edgerton; 11 grandchildren, Steven Barton of Northwood, Jeffrey Barton of Toledo, Douglass Hale of Akron, Courtney, Erin, Leslie and Nathan Hay, all of West Unity and Steven, Danielle, Karrie and Kaleb La Londe, all of Edgerton; and four brothers, Donald Brillhart of Marshall, Texas, Chalmer (Agnes) Brillhart of Bradenton, Fla., Meryl (Jean) Brillhart and Norris (Margaret) Brillhart, both of West Unity.
Preceding him in death was his first wife, Doris M. (Bailey) Brillhart on Aug. 17, 1988. Visitation will be held Friday from 2-9 p.m. in the Hollingshead Funeral Home in West Unity and also one hour prior to services in the First Presbyterian Church in West Unity.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the church with the Rev. David Tilly to officiate. Burial will follow at the Floral Grove Cemetery in West Unity with military rites being provided by the American Legion Post No. 669 of West Unity.
Memorials may be made to the Dilworth Center, First Presbyterian Church or to the Community Hospitals of Williams County Hospice.

Marvin L. Bunn, Jr.
(1950 - 2002)

GROVER HILL - Marvin L. Bunn Jr., 51, of Grover Hill, died Tuesday morning, July 30, 2002, at Van Wert Hospital.
Born Aug. 28, 1950, at Defiance, to Maxine (Highland) and Marvin Bunn Sr., he married Tammy Silcott on Feb. 14, 2000, at Paulding, and she survives.
A 1968 graduate of Defiance High School, he was a route delivery man for The Crescent News of Defiance. He was a member of the NRA and the Van Wert Outdoorsman.
In addition to his wife he is survived by a son, Cody; three sisters, Betty Phillips of Michigan; Linda Sowen of Defiance and Susan Meine of Antwerp.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
Visitation will be held Thursday after 3 p.m. or Friday after 9 a.m. in the Brown Funeral Home, Hicksville. There will also be visitation one hour prior to services in the Hicksville Church of the Nazarene.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. in the church with Pastor Pat Holt to officiate. Memorials may be made to Cody Bunn.

Harriet R. Carlin
(1908 - 2002)

STRYKER - Harriet R. Carlin, 94, of Stryker, died Tuesday, July 30, 2002, at Harborside Healthcare Northwestern Ohio-Bryan.
Visitation will be held Friday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. in the Grisier Funeral Home in Stryker. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Troy Cummins to officiate.

Maurice W. Colon
(1933 - 2002)

WAUSEON - Maurice W. Colon, 69, of Wauseon, died Tuesday, July 30, 2002, at the Firelands Regional Medical Center at Sandusky, following a brief illness.
Born July 22, 1933, in West Unity, to Lura Ethel (Vanderveer) and Hazel William Colon, he married Grace Stites on Aug. 29, 1952, and she survives.
A veteran of the Air Force, he joined the American Legion Post No. 265 after his discharge. He was a life long farmer and a truck driver.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by children, Alan (and wife, Carol) Colon of Wauseon; Mrs. Robert (Nancy) Bacon of Swanton, Nathan (Laurie) Colon of Wauseon and Diana Colon of Decatur, Ill.; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 3-9 p.m. in the Edgar-Grieser Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. in the North Dover United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dan Bare to officiate. Interment will follow in the Ottokee Cemetery.
Memorials may made to the charity of the family's choice.

Olive J. Orendorff

HARTFORD CITY, Ind. - Olive J. Orendorff, 86, of Hartford City, died Tuesday, July 30, 2002, at the Fort Wayne Hospice Home.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 6 p.m.-9 p.m. at the Walters Funeral Home in Hartford. Location for the funeral services for Mrs. Orendorff has been changed. They will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Hartford City at 2 p.m. ( Ohio time.)

Zena Wiles
(1909 - 2002)

Zena Wiles, 92, of Pulaski, died early Wednesday, July 31, 2002, at Harborside Healthcare Northwestern Ohio-Bryan.
Born Oct. 18, 1909, in Pioneer, to Hattie (Nichols) and Perry Dauber, she married Daniel Otis Wiles on Nov. 24, 1934 and he preceded her in death.
Surviving are two sons, Lavon Wiles of Hicksville and Frank Wiles of Edgerton; a daughter, Wiladene Motter of Bryan; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters, Zelda Heer and Mary Jean Arnett of Bryan and Lois Figley of Toledo; and a foster brother, Bob Miller of Bryan.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Opal Cunningham and Wilma Mercer.
Visitation will be held Friday from noon to 2 p.m. in the Oberlin-Ford Funeral Home in Bryan. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Jim Wilson to officiate. Interment will follow in Shiffler Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to The Defiance County 4-H Clubs.

Arianna Marie Alvarado
(July 26, 2002)

ARCHBOLD - Arianna Marie Alvarado, infant daughter of Maxine Leyva and Adrian Alvarado of Archbold, was stillborn Friday morning, July 26, 2002, at Community Hospitals of Williams County-Bryan.
Surviving are her parents; a brother, Elijah Xavier Alvarado at home; maternal grandparents, Ricardo and Lidia Leyva of Wauseon; paternal grandparents, Martin and Gloria Alvarado of Stryker; maternal great-grandmothers, Cleofas Gomez of Wauseon and Aurora Leyva of Archbold.
Graveside services were to have been held today at 11 a.m. in St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery with the Rev. Gary M. Ferguson to officiate. Short Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
