Charles Wesley Haldeman
Autolite retiree

Charles Wesley Haldeman, 82, of Christopher Drive, Fostoria, died at 4:10 p.m. Friday, May 7, 1999, at St. Catherine's Care Center, Fostoria. He formerly lived in Lima and West Millgrove.

Mr. Haldeman was born July 18, 1911, to Edward and Bessie (Lee) Haldeman in Johnsville, Ohio. He married Cahleene Allen May 14, 1939, in Findlay.

Surviving are: his wife, Cahleene of Fostoria; son, Edward of West Millgrove; brothers, Robert Haldeman of Fostoria and John Haldeman of Mesa, Ariz.; sisters, Mrs. Paul (Emma) Walters of Cincinnati and Betty Alge of Chardon; and a grandson.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Haldeman.

A 1930 graduate of Bowling Green High School, he attended Bowling Green State University.

Mr. Haldeman was a quality control foreman at the Autolite Corp., Fostoria, where he retired July 30, 1973, after 33 years. He received the "Citizen Of The Year" award in 1961 from Autolite. He was a member of High Street United Methodist Church, Fostoria, the Pathfinders Class, former Cub Scout master for seven years and taught Young Married Couples Sunday school class for 19 years.

He was past charter member of the West Millgrove Fire Department, former mayor of West Millgrove, member of the Full Gospel Businessmen Association, a member of the REACT Team in Lima, a Fostoria Auxiliary Policeman for four years, and was named Citizen of the Year in 1967, Fostoria. He also served four years in the Ohio State Guard.

The Rev. Jeffrey L. Waite will officiate the services at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria. Burial will be in Memory Gardens, near Arcadia.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to St. Catherine's Care Center, or St. Rita's Hospice of Lima, or High Street United Methodist Church.

Charetta A. Weaver
Wharton homemaker

Charetta A. Weaver, 92, died at 2:40 p.m. Friday, May 7, 1999, in the Wyandot County Nursing Home. She previously resided at 7642 CR 97, Wharton.

She was born Oct. 14, 1906, to Frank and Louise (Brodman) Pahl, west of Carey. On June 27, 1928, she married Wayne L. Weaver. He died Oct. 27, 1968.

Surviving are two sons, Edward and Francis, both of Wharton; five daughters, Mrs. Donald (Joan) McDonnell of New Albany, Mrs. Barbara Hendricks of Sycamore, Mrs. Wilbie (Rose Ann) Rowe, Mrs. Dennis (Carolyn) Thiel and and Mrs. Thomas (Mary) Rettig, all of Upper Sandusky. Three sisters and six brothers preceded her in death.

She had been a homemaker; a member of the Salem Township St. Joseph Catholic Church, Upper Sandusky; Rosary Altar Society; and the Third Order of St. Francis.

Services will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, with the Rev. Benjamin Knopp officiating in the St. Joseph Catholic Church, rural Upper Sandusky. Burial will be at the St. Joseph Catholic cemetery.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at the Stombaugh Memorial Funeral Home in Carey. The rosary will be recited at 8:15 p.m. Monday, followed by Christian scripture at 8:30 at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the church or to Wyandot County Home Health.

Edith M. McClellan
Fostoria homemaker

Edith M. McClellan, 76, of Fostoria, died at 8:15 a.m. Saturday, May 8, 1999, in Fostoria Community Hospital. Arrangements are pending at the Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria.

Harry W. Fling
Fling garage owner/operator

Harry W. Fling, 87, of Culbertson Street, Fostoria, died at 11:33 p.m. Friday, May 7, 1999, in Fostoria Community Hospital.

He was born May 6, 1912, in Monroe, Mich., to Harrison and Alsina (Doe) Fling.

A sister, Helen Proudfoot of Temperance, Mich., and several nieces and nephews, survive.

Preceding him in death were two sisters, Dorothy and Gladys Fling, and a brother, Gerald Fling.

Mr. Fling, a 1930 graduate of Fostoria High School, was the owner and operator of the former Fling Garage in Fostoria.

A World War II U.S. Army veteran, he was a life member of the National Rifle Association.

Graveside services will be at a later date, with the Rev. Donald Goodwin officiating. Burial will be in Fountain cemetery, Fostoria.

There will be no visitation. The Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to St. Catherine's Care Center or a charity of the donor's choice.

Lois M. Stout
Clyde homemaker

Lois M. Stout, 76, of Parkway Avenue, Clyde, died Sunday May 9, 1999, in Firelands Community Hospital, Sandusky.

She was born in Lindsay, Sept. 30, 1922, to Hardy and Myrtle (Myers) Overmyer. Her husband, Walter Stout, whom she married in 1939, died in 1987.

Survivors include: seven children, Edward and Walter Jr. Stout and Mrs. Donald (Sue) Drown, all of Clyde, Mrs. Donald (Shirley) Davenport of Green Springs, Janice Gonya of California, Mrs. Charles (Minnie) Michaels of Fremont and Mary Gullett of Tiffin; four brothers, Melvin Overmyer of Florida, Calvin Overmyer of Tiffin, Dick Overmyer of Green Springs and Merton Overmyer of Fremont; 22 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

A sister, Betty Murphy, and three brothers, George, Morris Ray and Galen Overmyer, are deceased.

A homemaker, Mrs. Stout received her education in the Lindsay schools.

She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Ladies of the Moose, Eagles Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary and Senior Citizens, all of Clyde.

The Rev. James Belcher will be the officiant at the 10:30 a.m. Wednesday service in the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, Clyde. Interment will be in York Free Chapel cemetery.

Visitation at the funeral home will be 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday.

Memorials may be made to the American Kidney Foundation, the church or St. Francis Rehab Hospital, Green Springs.

Eugene X. Yost
Central Avenue resident

Eugene X. Yost, 84, Central Avenue, died Sunday May 9, 1999, in St. Francis Nursing Home. Arrangements and survivors will be announced later by the Hanney-Traunero Funeral Home.

Byron F. 'Fuzzy' Bowers
Tiffin General Electric retiree

Byron F. "Fuzzy" Bowers, 77, of Strayer Drive, Bellevue, died Sunday May 9, 1999, in Firelands Hospital, Sandusky.

He was born March 13, 1922, in Reed Township, to Harry G. and Elda Mae (Shetterly) Bowers. His wife of 51 years, Betty J. (Loose) Bowers, whom he married Feb. 21, 1948, in Attica, survives

Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Aleta M.) Sieger and two grandchildren.

A U.S. Army veteran, having served in Europe during World War II, he was employed at the General Electric in Tiffin, retiring in 1985. He also farmed.

Mr. Bowers was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Adams Township, where he served on the church council as a deacon.

A 1940 graduate of Thompson High School, he also was a member of the Bellevue American Legion, VFW and the Farm Bureau.

Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday in Zion Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Paul Long officiating. The body will lie in state at the church after 1 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Block cemetery, Adams Township.

Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Foos and Son Funeral Home, Bellevue.

Memorials may be made to the church or a charity of the donor's choice.

Gladys M. Turley
Retired music/English teacher

Gladys M. Turley, 87, of East Buckeye St., Clyde, died in the Arbors of Clyde, Saturday May 8, 1999.

She was born in Zanesville, Oct. 14, 1911, to Grant and Leona (Nopp) Mohler. On April 19, 1936, she married Winfield A. "Bud" Turley, and he died in May 1979.

A sister-in-law, Mrs. Margaret Beard, survives in Perrysburg.

Two brothers, William and John Mohler, are deceased.

Mrs. Turley, a 1930 gradaute of Zanesville High School and a 1934 graduate of the University of Michigan, had been employed as a music and English teacher in the Clyde and Townsend Township Schools.

She had been the first women to direct the U of M marching band in concert.

She was a member of the Episcopal Church and served as an organist at the Clyde Episcopal Church for many years.

A resident of Clyde since 1934, she also was a member of Clyde Order of Eastern Star 73, Clyde Fire Department Auxiliary, where she held offices and the Northwest Ohio Fire Department Auxiliary, where she also held offices.

Services in the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, Clyde, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, with the Rev. Joe Redmond officiating. Interment will be in McPherson cemetery, Clyde.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. until time of the service at the funeral home Tuesday, where Eastern Star services will be at 10:30 a.m.

Memorials may be made to Clyde Library, West Buckeye Street, Clyde, Ohio 43410.

Edith M. McClellan
Fostoria homemaker

Edith M. McClellan, 76, of 25 Christopher Drive, Fostoria, died at 8:15 a.m. Saturday May 8, 1999, in Fostoria Community Hospital.

She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, May 2, 1923, to Eli Shannon and Margaret H. (Smith) King. She married Levi "Dobbie" McClellan, Aug. 30, 1942, in Napoleon. He died July 13, 1984.

Survivors include: five sons, Richard L., Ronald A. and John J. McClellan, all of Fostoria, Bryan L. McClellan of Nashville, Tenn. and Charles E. McClellan of Montpelier; two daughters, Donna L. McClellan of Fostoria and Mrs. Dan (Kathy) Falter of Republic; a brother, George King II of Florida; two sisters, Ruth Sayre and Ethel Knettles, both of Fostoria; 18 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A daughter, Diana R. Gee, a brother, George King I and a sister, Betty Haynes, are deceased.

Mrs. McClellan, a homemaker and formerly of 434 Union Court, Fostoria, was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene, Fostoria.

The Rev. Russell F. Gumm will preside at the 11 a.m. Wednesday service in the First Church of the Nazarene. The body will lie in state one hour before the funeral at the church. Interment will be in Fountain cemetery, Fostoria.

Visitation at the Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria, will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday.

Deborah K. Gegenheimer
Allied-Automotive retiree

Deborah K. Gegenheimer, 49, died Sunday morning May 9, 1999, at her home at 654 Buckley St., Fostoria.

She was born in Fostoria, April 21, 1950, the daughter of Donald B. and Virginia M. (Bentz) Blaser. They survive in Fostoria. She first married Terry Mehrman, and they were divorced. She later married Arnold Gegenheimer, and he is deceased.

Survivors also include: a son, Chad D. Mehrman of Findlay; a daughter, Kory Lynn Gegenheimer of Fostoria; two step-sons, Alan and Chad L. Gegenheimer, both of Orlando, Fla.; two step-daughters, Cora and Paula Gegenheimer, both of Fostoria; several step-grandchildren; three brothers, Patrick J. Blaser of Punta Gorda, Fla., Michael A. Blaser of Knoxville, Tenn. and Randall J. Blaser of Findlay; two sisters, Julie A. Blaser and Mrs. Janos (Rebecca S.) Szabo, both of Fostoria; and her maternal grandmother, Martha Workley, also of Fostoria.

Mrs. Gegenheimer, a 1968 graduate of St. Wendelin High School, retired in September 1998 from the Allied-Automotive in Fostoria, after 30 years of employment.

A member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church and Ladies of The Moose, both of Fostoria, she served as a volunteer for the American Red Cross Bloodmobiles, First Step, the Sharing Kitchen of Fostoria and Seneca Re-Ads.

Services in the Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria, will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in St. Wendelin Parish cemetery, Fostoria.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, the School of Opportunity or St. Wendelin Schools.

Atta May Egbert
Homemaker/former G.E. employee

Atta May Egbert, 74, of North CR 21, Clyde, died in the Arbors of Clyde Sunday May 9, 1999.

Born June 6, 1924, in Seneca County, to Chris and Cora (Lust) Ruch, she married Alvin C. Egbert, June 29, 1946. He is deceased.

Surviving are a sister, Della Homler of Upper Sandusky; and a brother, Harold Ruch of Bloomville.

Three sisters, Bernice Holman, Marcella Laugherty and Margaret Harris; and two brothers, Thurman and Harlan Ruch, also are deceased.

Mrs. Egbert, a homemaker, also worked at the General Electric in Bellevue and at Green Springs Nursery 1969-71.

She received her eduation in the Bloomville Schools and was a memberof the Seneca County Farm Bureau.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the MItchell-Auxter Funeral Home, Clyde. Interment will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens.

Visitation at the funeral home will be 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday.

Memorials may be made to Sandusky County Hospice.

James F. 'Jim' Metzger
Allied Signal Autolite retiree

James F. "Jim" Metzger, 51, died at 2:45 a.m. Monday May 10, 1999, at his home at 3453 TR 66, New Riegel.

He was born in Tiffin, Nov. 8, 1947, to Cyril and Irene (Morse) Metzger. They survive in rural New Riegel. In October 1970, he married Diane Wertz, and they later divorced. She survives.

Other survivors include: three daughters, Mrs. Brian (Stephanie) Patterson of Findlay, Kristie Metzger of Akron and Mrs. Chad (Jamie) Greathouse of Columbus; two brothers, John and Larry Metzger, both of Carey; two sisters, Mrs. John (Sandy) Zoeller and Mrs. Steve (Sharon) Kimmet, both of New Riegel; two grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Metzger, a 1965 graduate of New Riegel High School, retired as a machine setter from the Allied Signal Autolite, Fostoria, where he had been employed for 33 years.

A U.S. Army veteran 1966-68 during the Vietnam Era, he had served in Korea.

He was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Frenchtown; New Riegel Moose, Fostoria AMVETS, Carey Eagles, New Riegel American Legion Post 354 and Fostoria United Sportsmen. He also collected and restored antique cars.

A funeral Mass in St. Nicholas Catholic Church, will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, with the Rev. Conrad Sutter as celebrant. Burial will be in the parish cemetery, where military graveside services will be conducted by New Riegel American Legion Post 354.

Visitation at the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, where a wake service will be at 8 p.m.

Memorials may be made to Community Hospice Care or a charity of the donor's choice.
