Wilbur "Frank" Crilly
National Machinery retiree

Wilbur "Frank" Crilly, 89, of Melmore Street, died at 12:42 a.m. Monday May 10, 1999, in Magruder Hospital, Ottawa County, Port Clinton, where he had been a patient for several days.

He was born Oct. 21, 1909, in Imler, Pa., to John Andrew and Carrie (Exline) Crilly. His wife, Leota Marie Claycomb, whom he married June 7, 1938, in Ellicott City, Md., preceded him in death Feb. 26, 1990.

Surviving are a son, Edward W. Crilly of Gypsum, Colo.; three daughters, Mrs. John (Joan) Stoner of Tiffin, Mrs. Larry (Charlotte) Schultz of Port Clinton and Janette Crilly of Marblehead; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Allison of Alum Bank, Pa.

Also preceding him in death were a brother, Stanley Crilly and four sisters, Lenore Stufft, Virginia Claycomb, Hazel Hissong and Joyce McDonald.

His sister-in-law, Vivian Claycomb Norton, lives in Tiffin.

Mr. Crilly, a U.S. Army veteran, retired from the National Machinery. He also farmed for many years.

He was a 50 year member of the First Lutheran Church and a member of the National Machinery Quarter Century Club and Union Grange 1078.

Mr. Crilly was the recipient of an award by Tiffin Historic Trust for preservation and restoration of his residence.

The Rev. John S. Ferne will be the officiant at the 10:30 a.m. Thursday service in the First Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Fairmont cemetery.

Visitation at the Turner-Engle Funeral Home will be 2-9 p.m. Wednesday, where the National Machinery Quarter Century Club will pay respects at 7 p.m..

Memorials may be made to the church, Clinton Township Fire Department or Catawba Fire Department of Port Clinton.

James Edward Johnson Sr.
Fremont Parks Department retiree

James Edward Johnson Sr., 58, of 2649 Zilphia St., Burgoon, died Monday May 10, 1999, in Memorial Hospital, Fremont.

He was born in Martin, Ohio, Feb. 12, 1941, to the late Carl C. and Lucille (Mooney) Johnson. His wife, Joyce (Weller) Johnson, survives. His second marriage was to Gloria Grace Johnson, who is deceased.

Survivors include: seven sons, James "Ed" Johnson Jr. of Lupton, Mich., Howard Dean Johnson of Pontiac, Mich., Dewey Johnson Sr. of Attica, Larry Johnson of Loogootee, Ind., James "Butch" Johnson of Georgetown, Ky., Brian Johnson of Fremont and Wesley "Randy" Johnson of Burgoon; four daughters, Tammy Wilson of Fremont, Grace Presley of Oceola and Lataya Cannon and Mandy Johnson, both of Burgoon; 33 grandchildren; two brothers, Larry Johnson of Genoa and Carl Junior Johnson of Perrysburg; and four sisters, Martha Hoover of Woodville, Dolly Siverwood of Bellevue, Dorothy Gullet of Clyde and Rosalee M. Rhoades of Gibsonburg.

A brother, Donald Johnson, also is deceased.

Mr. Johnson retired from the City of Fremont Parks Department.

There will be no services or visitation. The Turner-Engle Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements.

Eugene Xavier Yost
Tiffin Street Department retiree

Eugene Xavier Yost, 84, 1175 S. Central Ave., died in St. Francis Home, Tiffin, at 11:30 a.m. Sunday May 9, 1999.

He was born in Fostoria, Feb. 2, 1915, to Ignatius I. and Veronica H. (Mangett) Yost. On May 13, 1943, in St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria, he married Geneva Reinhart, who is deceased.

Surviving are: three sons, Eugene P. Yost of Stafford, Va., Frank Yost of Harrington, Dela., and Michael Yost of Tiffin; a brother, Gerald Yost of Tiffin; two sisters, Isabelle Helle and Rita Knaup, both of Tiffin; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A son, Anthony Yost; three brothers, Marcus, Cletus and Leonard Yost; and three sisters, Gertrude Clouse, Lenora Yost and Mary Elizabeth Hess, also are deceased.

Mr. Yost, a farmer, retired in 1980 from the City of Tiffin Street Department. He also worked for the Pure Milk and Dairy.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

A funeral Mass in St. Joseph Catholic Church will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, with Father Dunn and The Rev. James Say as co-celebrants. The rosary will be recited 15 minutes before the funeral Mass. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today at the Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home, where a wake service will be at 8:30 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the church.

Herbert I. Bomer
Father of Tiffin resident

Herbert I. Bomer, 86, of 12293 US 30 West, Upper Sandusky, died at 7:35 a.m. Sunday May 9, 1999, in Marion General Hospital. He had resided with his daughter in Forest for the past two and a half years.

Born April 19, 1913, in Wood County, to Ira E. and Alice P. (Musser) Bomer, he married Mary L. Hall, Aug. 18, 1951, in Indiana. She died July 4, 1997.

Survivors include: a son, David I. Bomer of Upper Sandusky; two daughters, Shirley A. Bomer of Tiffin and Mrs. Paul (Jane) Rigsby of Forest; seven grandchildren; a sister, Ona M. Alexander of Toledo; and two half brothers.

He also was preceded in death by twin sons, who died at birth; three sisters and five brothers.

Mr. Bomer, a retired farmer, had been employed at Swan Rubber in Bucyrus, retiring in 1975. He also worked at Uni-Grip in Upper Sandusky and was self-employed at Bomer's Scrap Yard and Used Auto Parts.

A U.S. Army veteran, he was affiliated with Beech Grove Wesleyan Church, Carey and was a 50-year member of American Legion Post 225. A private pilot, he enjoyed flying.

The Rev. Floyd Tomas will preside at the 11 a.m. Wednesday service in the Bringman-Clark and Company Funeral Home, Upper Sandusky. Interment will be in Bethel cemetery, McCutchenville.

Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Beech Grove Wesleyan Church.

Atta May Egbert
Clyde homemaker

Services for Atta May Egbert, 74, of North CR 21, Clyde, who died Sunday May 9, 1999, will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, Clyde. Visitation is 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral Home. Her husband, Alvin C. Egbert, survives.

Theresa Christeen Burrows
Substitute school aide

Theresa Christeen Burrows, 25, of North Countyline Street, Fostoria, died at her home Sunday, May 9, 1999.

She was born in Fostoria Nov. 8, 1973, to Wayne V. and Mary A. (Tarris) Couch. Her mother, now Mrs. Marion (Mary) Brookman, survives in Fostoria and her father and step-mother, Jacquie, survive in Alvada. Her husband, Shane F. Burrows, whom she married May 6, 1995, in Fostoria, also survives in Fostoria.

Other survivors include:: two sons, Dalton and Steven Burrows, at home; a daughter, Kelsey Burrows, at home; three brothers, Robert "Rob" and Bradford "Brad" Brookman, both of Fostoria and Joel Kleinhen of Bluffton; four sisters, Kelley Miller, Tammy Hernandez and Tina Taylor, all of Fostoria and Lesley Dean of Chicago, Ill.; and her paternal grandmother, Glendola Couch of Fostoria.

Mrs. Burrows, a 1992 graduate of Fostoria High School, was employed as a substitute aide by the Fostoria City Schools and was also a Party Lite Candle consultant.

She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, Fostoria and the Fostoria YMCA.

Services in the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria, will be 11 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. Allen Minton officiating. Burial will be in Fountain cemetery, Fostoria.

Visitation at the funeral home will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Floyd A. Sholl
Former Tiffin resident

Graveside services for Floyd A. Sholl, 88, formerly of Tiffin, who died Thursday Feb. 25, 1999, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Greenlawn cemetery. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. The Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Edward J. Roberts
Retired service station owner

Memorial services for Edward J. Roberts, 83, 16 High Point Court, who died at 8:58 a.m.Thursday, April 22, 1999, in Mercy Hospital of Tiffin, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Old Trinity Episcopal Church. The Rev. John Trumble will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn cemetery at 1 p.m. The Turner-Engle Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the church or the Ritz Theatre.

Helen Marie Bishop
New Washington resident

Helen Marie Bishop, 80, of South Kibler Street, New Washington, died Wednesday May 12, 1999, in the Willard Genesis Eldercare.

She was born Aug. 24, 1918, in New Washington, to William and Louise (Alt) Kanney. Her husband, Sylvester A. Bishop, whom she married Feb. 26, 1938, died Oct. 30, 1996.

Survivors include: a daughter, Carol Hohman of Carey; a son, Gary Bishop of Bucyrus; 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and a brother, Bill Kanney of New Washington.

Also deceased are a daughter, Beatrice Ann Bishop; four brothers, John, Charles, Walter and Albert Kanney; and a sister, Mary Rowland.

Mrs. Bishop, who had lived in the New Washington area all her life, was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church and its Altar Rosary Society, New Washington.

A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Bernard Catholic Church, with the Rev. Robert Dendinger officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Visitation at the Secor Funeral Home, New Washington, will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday.

Memorials may be made to St. Bernard School Endowment Fund.

Albert R. Smith
Former RR Donnelly employee

Graveside services for former Attica and Bloomville resident Albert R. Smith, 58, of 302 Elm St., Tiffin, who died Tuesday, April 25, 1999, in St. Catherine's Care Center of Tiffin, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Woodlawn cemetery, Bloomville. The Rev. Gary Hicks of the Bloomville United Methodist Church, will officiate. The United Veterans Council of Tiffin will conduct military graveside services. The Lindsey-Olds Funeral Home of Bloomville/Republic is in charge of arrangements.

William J. Reens
Former Flechtner Packing supervisor

William J. Reens, 85, of 714 Westhaven Drive, Fostoria, died at 2:10 a.m. Wednesday, May 12, 1999, in the Fox Run Manor, Findlay.

He was born in Grand Rapids, Mich., Sept. 19, 1913, to Nicholas and Katherine (Steendam) Reens. On Jan. 30, 1937, he married Virginia M. Eikhoff. She died Dec. 8, 1992.

Surviving are a son, Gary William Reens of Fostoria; a daughter, Mrs. John (Gail) Heinsman of Atlanta, Ga.; and four grandchildren.

Also preceding him in death were five brothers and four sisters.

Mr. Reens, a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria, had been employed as a supervisor at the Flechtner Packing Co. in Fostoria.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria. Burial will be in Rosdale Memorial Park, Grand Rapids, Mich.

Visitation will be one hour before the service Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the church.

Robert E. Young Sr.
Tiffin resident's brother

Robert E. Young Sr., 77, died Tuesday evening, May 11, 1999, at his residence at 807 N. State St., Marion.

He was born Jan. 2, 1922, in Fostoria. His wife, Ellen Young, survives in Marion. His first wife, Helen Young, died in 1969.

Other survivors include: six sons, Norman, Robert, Jeffrey and Wesley Scott Young, all of Marion, Michael Young of South Carolina and Keith Young of Bucyrus; five daughters, Mrs. Chuck (Bobbie Jo) Fox of Shelby, Mrs. Sonny (Linda) Smith of Marion, Mrs. James (Helen) Farrell of Findlay, Mrs. Kevin (Brenda Sue) Rodgers, also of Marion, and Jesse Young of Bowling Green; a brother, Norman Young of Tiffin; a sister, Helen Lobdell of Findlay; 27 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.

Two brothers also are deceased.

Mr. Young retired from the Whirlpool Corp.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the Denzer-Farison-Hottinger Funeral Home, Marion, with the Rev. Allen Thomas officiating. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Friday in Fountain cemetery, Fostoria.

Visitation at the funeral home is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today.

Flora Mae Orr
Shoe factory retiree

Flora Mae Orr, 85, 60 N. SR 101, Lot 142, died at her home Wednesday, May 12, 1999.

Born May 3, 1914, in Freelandville, Ind., to Loren and Sadie (Meyer) Hollingsworth, she married Wallace W. Orr in 1950, in Vincennes, Ind.. He died July 20, 1996.

Survivors include: a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Georgia) Black of Tiffin; a brother, Milton Hollingsworth of Vincennes; and two grandchildren, Mrs. Jerry (Debbie) Zagroba and Mrs. James (Terry) Heyman.

A sister, Wilhelmina Hauha, and three brothers, Forrest, Goldie and Roy Hollingsworth, also are deceased.

Mrs. Orr, a member of the Methodist faith, had been employed as a cutter in a shoe factory for 15 years.

Graveside services will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday in Greenlawn cemetery, with the Rev. Larry Smith officiating.

There will be no visitation. The Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Community Hospice Care.

Aulton 'Tom' Wagner
Wagner Carburetor owner/operator

Aulton "Tom" Wagner, 81, died at 9:35 a.m. Wednesday, May 12, 1999, at his home at 2801 S. Main St., Findlay.

He was born in Mt. Cory, Feb. 3, 1918, to Seman and Ethel (Thomas) Wagner. His wife, Madonna (Lugibihl) Wagner, whom he married Sept. 7, 1940, survives.

Survivors also include: two sons, Philip G. and Christopher J. Wagner, both of Stafford, Va.; two daughters, Mrs. Lloyd (Constance S.) Nelson of Brooksville, Fla., and Mrs. Terry (Neita A.) Armstrong of Oceanside, Calif.; five grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren; a brother, Wendell Wagner of Mt. Cory; and a sister, Mrs. Russell (Ellen) Welty of Stockbridge, Ga.

Two sisters, Doris Dorman and Vivian Cakos, are deceased.

Mr. Wagner, a 1936 graduate of Mt. Cory High School, was employed as a service manager at Hollington-Buick and Gleason-Packard and also owned and operated Wagner Carburetor Service for 30 years.

He also attended Ohio Northern University and graduated from Carter Carburetor School, St. Louis, Mo., and General Motors Service Manager School, Flint, Mich.

A member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, where he was a teacher, chief steward and served on the church council, he also was a Boy Scout representative and scout coordinator.

He was a member of the following Masonic Bodies: Findlay Lodge 227 Free and Accepted Masons, where he served as past master; past High Priest of Findlay Chapter 58, Past Illustrious Master of Findlay Council 50 Royal and Select Masons; Knight Templar of Findlay Commandry 49, 32nd Degree Mason of Scottish Rite, Valley of Toledo, Deputy Grand High Priest of the 7th Capetular District, past president of Hancock County Scottish Rite Association; Zenobia Shrine Temple of Toledo; historian for 21 years of Findlay Shrine Club; education officer of the 10th Masonic District; Past Master Blanchard Valley Allied Masonic Degrees 221; president emeritus of the Findlay Masonic Temple Association; Red Branch of Erie Royal Order of Scotland, Apollo Tabernacle 1 Northwestern, Ohio; Past Patron of Findlay Order Eastern Star and past president of the Findlay Sertoma Club.

The Rev. Gregory W. Creeck and Glenn Opp will be the co-officiants at the 10 a.m. Saturday service in the Coldren-Crates Funeral Home, Findlay. Burial will be private.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, where Masonic services will be at 7.

Memorials may be made to Findlay Masonic Lodge Scholarship Fund or St. Paul's United Methodist Church Scholarship Fund.
