Beatrice M. Cox

Beatrice M. Cox, 93, of East Fremont Street, Fostoria, died at 12:55 p.m. Friday, July 23, 1999, at the St. Catherines Care Center, Fostoria.
She was born May 10, 1906, in Carey to Robert F. and Viola A. (Boyce) Phillips. On Sept. 25, 1942, she married
Vernon E. Cox in Napoleon. He died Dec. 25, 1973.
Surviving are a son, Earl E. Cox of Findlay; six grandchildren and a great-grandchild. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by: two brothers, James E. and John D. Phillips; six sisters, Mary P. Gilliland, Laura B. Breitigam, Nellie E. Martin, Alice J. Berry, Ethel I. Smith and Frances Pressler.
Mrs. Cox had been employed as a licensed practical nurse at the Fostoria City Hospital, retiring in 1976 after over 11 years of employment. She was a member of the High Street United Methodist Church; Fostoria Member of the Pathfinders Sunday School Class; United Methodist Women; Naomi Circle; a former member of the American Legion Auxiliary; American Association of Retired Persons; Fostoria Senior Citizens; Fostoria Women's Club; Shepherd Center Adventures in Learning; Florence Nightengale Retired Nurses Organization; St. Catherines Care Center Auxiliary; an American Red Cross volunteer; and had helped in the Community Sharing Kitchen.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home in Fostoria with the Rev. Jeffrey L. Waite officiating. Burial will be in the Spring Grove cemetery in Carey.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the elevator fund of the High Street United Methodist Church.
Betty I. Shofstahl
Retired waitress
Betty I. Shofstahl, 78, of Bellevue, died Saturday, July 24, 1999, in The Bellevue Hospital.
She was born Oct. 7, 1920, in Akron to Mr. and Mrs. Wilson (Hazel Baker) Byerly. On Nov. 25, 1965, in San Bernadino, Calif., she married
John Shofstahl, who preceded her in death in 1977.
Surviving are: two daughters, Colette Fry of Fremont and Mrs. Donald (Elaine) Norman of Bellevue; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Donald Byerly of Pennsylvania.
Also preceding her in death were two brothers, Wilson and "Puggy" Byerly.
A former member of the Ladies of the Moose, Bellevue. and the Eastern Star, Mrs. Shofstahl was employed as a waitress for many years at John's Restaurant in Bellevue,
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Foos and Son Funeral Home, Bellevue, with the Rev. Bill Owens officiating. Burial will be in Fairmont cemetery, Tiffin.
Visitation at the funeral home will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday.
Forest W. Cupp
Press operator
Forest W. Cupp, 60, of 11071 W. TR 116, Fostoria, died at 11:15 a.m. Friday, July 23, 1999, in Marlington, W.Va.
He was born in Findlay, Aug. 27, 1938, the son of Elmer and Mary (Russell) Cupp. His mother survives in Fostoria. His wife, Lois Ann (Wilkinson) Cupp, whom he married
July 2, 1977, in the First Lutheran Church, Tiffin, survives in Fostoria.
Other survivors include: a son, Aaron C. Cupp of Tacoma, Wash.; a daughter, Mrs. Michael (Laurie Ann) Rohrer of Indiana; two brothers, Robert R. and David C. Cupp, both of Fostoria; three sisters, Mrs. Dan (Linda) Bethel, Mrs. Terry (Mary Ann) Beam and Mrs. Thomas (Rita) Arend, all of Fostoria; and five grandchildren.
His father is deceased.
Mr. Cupp, a 1958 graduate of Vanlue High School, was employed as a press operator for more than 25 years at Centrex Corp. in Findlay.
An avid music and motorcycle lover, he attended the First Christian Church and was a member of Moose Lodge 1567, both of Fostoria; Gold Wing Touring Association, Findlay; the Golden Eagles, Fostoria, where he served as president; the Northwest Motorcycle Association and the American Motorcycle Association.
The Rev. Bertie Dell will be the officiant at the 10:30 a.m. Wednesday service in the Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria. Entombment will be in Seneca Memory Gardens Mausoleum, Tiffin.
Visitation at the funeral home will be 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Tuesday.
Memorials may be made to the Shriner's Children's Hospitals.
Paul E. Russell
Brother of Tiffin resident
Paul E. Russell, 82, of Whittlesey Street, Fremont, died in the Fremont Center Genesis Eldercare Friday evening, July 23, 1999.
He was born in Clyde, Jan. 29, 1917, to Charles and Clara (Gabriel) Russell. On Aug. 25, 1936, in Portland, Ind., he married
Beulah McKinney, who survives.
Survivors also include: a son, Scott Russell; a daughter, Mary Ellen Mumaw; a grandson, Paul Edwin Russell; a brother, Clair Russell, all of Fremont; and a sister, Ruth Bower of Tiffin.
Three brothers and a sister are deceased.
Mr. Russell, a 1936 graduate of Fremont Ross High School, worked for 18 years as a route supervisor for Linders Dairy and retired from Eckrich as a moll washer in 1979, after 14 years of service.
A member of Grace Lutheran Church, Fremont, he served in the Navy Seabees Construction Battalion in the Pacific Theater during World War II.
He also was an avid golfer and enjoyed gardening.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Nopper-Karlovetz Mortuary, Fremont, where friends will be received 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery, Fremont.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Memorial Hospital or the church.
Marion Diment Chaney
Retired department store employee
Former Clyde resident, Marion Diment Chaney, 86, of Garfield Heights, died Friday, July 23, 1999, in the Bedford Hospital.
She was born in Sandusky County, July 24, 1912, to Claude and Carrie (McClenathen) Diment. Her husband, William E. Chaney, whom she married
Nov. 27, 1944, died Dec. 19, 1996.
A sister, Mrs. Ora (Gladys) Heft of Cadillac, Mich., two sisters-in-law and several nieces and nephews survive.
Mrs. Chaney, who received her education in the Clyde Schools, had been employed at the Higbee's Co. and Dillards Department Store, retiring in 1965.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in McPherson cemetery.
Visitation will be 1-1:45 p.m. Tuesday in the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, Clyde.
Lyle M. Brown
Father of Tiffin resident
Lyle M. Brown, 88, died Saturday morning, July 24, 1999, at his home on West Stone Street, Gibsonburg.
He was born in Pomeroy, Iowa, Oct. 6, 1910, to Arthur and Sadie (Melohn) Brown. On Jan. 18, 1932, in South Souix City, Neb., he married
Mildred Hinrichs, who preceded him in death Aug. 16, 1992.
Surviving are: three sons, James R. Brown of Tiffin, and Richard L. and Larry L. Brown, both of Gibsonburg; two daughters, Karen G. Powell of Gibsonburg and Nancy K. Mylander of Oak Harbor; a sister, L. Faye Heesch of Sun City, Ariz.; 16 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death was a sister, Ivonne Guyette.
Mr. Brown, a member of Faith United Methodist Church, Gibsonburg, had been employed as a farmer for Portage Farms, Woodville.
Services in the Nopper-Veh Funeral Home, Gibsonburg, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in West Union cemetery, Gibsonburg.
Visitation at the funeral home will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday.

Nineveth Meade, 84, of 8499 E. TR 178, Green Springs, died at 2:15 a.m. Saturday, July 24, 1999, in the Bellevue Hospital, Huron County.
She was born Nov. 22, 1914, in Pike County, Ky., to Whetsel and Angie (Tackett) Adkins. On Dec. 1, 1933, in Floyd, Ky., she married
Lawrence Meade, who died Sept. 22, 1986.
Survivors include: nine children, Jack, Kenny and Gary Meade, Ellen Cain, JoAnn Stiltner and Maggie Caster, all of Green Springs, Charles Meade of New London, Sylvia Meade of Findlay and Evelyn Estep of Republic; 35 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; a brother, Raymond Adkins of Pike County; and two sisters, Fannie Bowling of Pike County and Nell Cappazola of California.
Preceding her in death were: two sons, Willie and Everett Meade; three grandchildren; four brothers, Anthony, Creed, Carl and Elzie Adkins; and two sisters, Delcie Williams and Elizabeth Cooley.
A homemaker, Mrs. Meade was a member of the Church of Christ.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Engle-Young Funeral Home of Green Springs with Charles H. Meade as officiant. Burial will be in Butternut Ridge cemetery.
Visitation is 7-9 p.m. today and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Martha S. Johnson

Martha S. (Smitley) Johnson, 99, formerly of Stone Street, Fremont, died Saturday, July 24, 1999, in the Bethesda Care Center, Fremont, where she had been a resident since December 1997.
She was born in Jayco, Ind., March 30, 1900, to Lewis Franklin and Rosa Ellen (Cottrell) Smitley. Her husband, Bert Johnson, whom she married
Dec. 27, 1922, in Adrian, Mich., preceded her in death March 29, 1950.
Surviving are: two sons, L.B. Johnson of Port Clinton and Albert L. Johnson of Fulton, Miss.; three daughters, Virginia R. Howell of Groveport, Delila Kissell of Tiffin and Doris L. Baker of Conyers, Ga.; a half-sister, Kathryn Smitley of Coldwater, Mich.; three half-brothers, Lyle, Hughey and Freddie Smitley, all of Union City, Mich.; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were a son, William T. Johnson, and two grandchildren.
A homemaker, Mrs. Johnson worked at Associated Buyers for many years, as well as selling Stanley Products. She also worked as a cashier at Chudzinski Market for many years, retiring from there in 1977.
She was active in the Senior Citizens, Daughters of America, Croghan Lodge and the Eagles Auxiliary, where she was a life member.
An avid dancer, she enjoyed the outdoors, especially gardening and going to her lodge meetings.
Mrs. Johnson also served as past president of Rebekka Lodge, the Emblem Club and Ladies of the Moose.
Services at the Wonderly-Horvath Funeral Home, Fremont, will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, with the Rev. Joe Redmond Jr. officiating. Interment will be in Oakwood cemetery.
Visitation at the funeral home will be 9:30-11:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Memorials may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church.
Lois M. Parsell

Lois M. Parsell, 78, formerly of Walnut Street, Fostoria, died at 2:35 p.m. Sunday, July 25, 1999, in St. Catherine's Care Center, Fostoria.
She was born Oct. 4, 1920, in Forest, to Guy W. and Etta M. (Wurtzbaugh) Bash. On March 31, 1945, in Forest, she married
Lawrence F. Parsell, who died June 9, 1985.
Surviving are a son, Gordon F. Parsell of Fostoria; a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Linda) Beckford of Fostoria; a brother, Dallas Bash of Bluffton; a sister, Sevilla Fisher of Hot Springs, Ark.; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were a brother, Stanley Bash; and two sisters, Pauline Radabaugh and Jenny Jacobs.
Mrs. Parsell, a homemaker, was a member of High Street United Methodist Church, Fostoria.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria, with the Rev. Jeffrey L. Waite officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens, near Arcadia.

Florence E. Tracey, 98, formerly of 7 W. Market St., died at 9:25 p.m. Saturday, July 24, 1999, in the Autumnwood Care Center, 670 E. SR 18.
She was born in Bellevue, March 12, 1901, to Charles and Elizabeth (Knauss) Headings. Her husband, Perry Tracey, whom she married
Oct. 26, 1925, preceded her in death Oct. 17, 1966.
Survivors include: a daughter, Martha Martin of Tiffin; two grandchildren, Lisa Shannon of Columbus and Nevin Martin of Tiffin; and nine great-grandchildren.
A grandson, Jay Tracey Martin; two sisters, Martha Cain and Ellen Beatrice Clements and two brothers, William Wade and Avery Parks Headings also are deceased.
Mrs. Tracey, a homemaker, also farmed with her husband in Carey.
A 1919 graduate of Bellevue High School, she was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Tiffin Women's Club, Eastern Star Tiffin Chapter 189 and Daughters of the American Revolution.
The Rev. William Smith will be the officiant at the 1 p.m. Tuesday service in Trinity United Church of Christ. Burial will be in Bellevue cemetery.
Visitation will be 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
The Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Lillian Lucille Yocom, 76, of Sandusky CR 280, Vickery, died Sunday, July 25, 1999, in St. Francis Nursing Home, Green Springs.
She was born April 14, 1923, in Clyde, to Leo and Alice (Aldrich) Dinan. On June 30, 1941, she married
Lawrence John Yocom, who died Feb. 22, 1987.
Survivors include: a son, R. James Yocom of Vickery; a daughter, Mrs. Bill (Cheryl) Cummings of Caledonia; four grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Gerald (Jean) Kastor of Clyde; and five brothers, William "Bill," Rollyan, Timothy, Larry, and Robert Dinan, all of Clyde.
Also preceding her in death were a son, John Yocom in 1965; two grandson, two brothers, Ivan and Donald Dinan; and two sisters, Mary Meyers and Doris Dinan.
Mrs. Yocom, a homemaker, also worked as an assembler for 14 years at Whirlpool Corp. in Clyde, retiring in March 1981.
A 1941 graduate of Clyde High School, she was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Vickery.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Mark Gibbs officiating. Interment will be in Ellsworth cemetery.
Visitation at the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, Clyde, will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday.
