Maxine Kirby Nowak
Former sales person

Word has been received of the death of former Wharton, Ohio resident, Maxine Kirby Nowak, 80, who resided in Fountain Hills, Arizona for the past 28 years.

She was born in Wharton, April 16, 1918, to Edward B. and Orpha M. (Gatchell) Kirby.

Her husband, Daniel Nowak, whom she married Aug. 4, 1962, survives in Fountain Hills.

Other survivors include: a son, Phillip Clark of Perrysburg; a daughter, Shirley Clark of Scottsdale; and five grandchildren.

The last of her family, Mrs. Nowak had been employed as a sales person for various hotels in Arizona. She was a graduate of the former Wharton High School.

Graveside services will be at noon Wednesday in the Wharton-Richland Union cemetery, Wharton, with the Rev. Joseph Searfoss officiating.

The Bringman-Clark and Company Funeral Home, Upper Sandusky, is in charge of arrangements.

Floyd K. Allison
Retired supervisor

Floyd K. Allison, 69, died at 5:10 p.m. Saturday, July 24, 1999, at his residence at 507 E. Findlay St., Carey.

He was born in Fostoria, Aug. 16, 1929, the son of the late Glenn and Marie (McClellan) Allison. On Sept. 4, 1948, in Greenup, Ky., he married Florence Jacques, who survives.

Survivors also include: three sons, Bill Allison of Upper Sandusky, Kenneth Allison of Tiffin and Keith Allison of Carey; a daughter, Linda Allison of Carey; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Glenn Jr. and John Allison; and four sisters, Mrs. Calvin (Velma) Coppes of Findlay, Joan Hill and Mrs. Johnnie (Barbara) Conley, both of Carey and Mrs. Mike (Glenda) Kinn of Alvada.

A brother, Charles; and an infant sister, Florence, also are deceased.

Mr. Allison, a member of the Protestant Faith, retired as a supervisor in 1991 from the National Lime and Stone Co. in Carey, after 42 years of employment.

A 1948 Carey High School graduate, he was a lifetime member of the Carey Conservation Club and a social member of VFW Post 3759, Carey.

He also was a former Scout Master of Den 51 Cub Scouts of Carey.

The Rev. Paul DeMoss will conduct the 11 a.m. Wednesday service in the Stombaugh Memorial Funeral Home, Carey.

Burial will be in Spring Grove cemetery, Carey.

Visitation at the funeral home will be 2-9 p.m. Tuesday.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice, in care of the Stombaugh Memorial Funeral Home, 225 W. Findlay St., Carey, OH 43316-1169.

Gregory Scott Miller
Rural Tiffin resident

Gregory Scott Miller, 33, died late Sunday evening, July 25, 1999, at his residence at 3737 S. TR 159.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday and a funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday.

The Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Maria M. Missler
Homemaker/secretary

Maria M. Missler, 93, of Norwalk, died Friday, July 23, 1999, in St. Francis Health Care Centre, Green Springs.

She was born March 3, 1906, in Norwalk, where she had lived most of her life, to Albert and Clara (Mehnen) Gallam. Her husband, Elmer J. Misler, died in 1977.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. David (Arlene) Hartmann of Toledo; three grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graduate of St. Paul High School, Mrs. Missler was a homemaker and also had been employed as a secretary for the Huron County Fair for many years.

She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and its Women of St. Paul and a former member of the Norwalk Senior Citizens.

She was very fond of the Sorrowful Mother Shrine and enjoyed attending Mass there.

Services will be private. The Kubach-Smith Funeral Home, Norwalk, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to either St. Paul Catholic Church, 91 E. Main St., Norwalk, or the Sorrowful Mother Shrine, 4106 N. SR 269, Bellevue, OH 44811.

Edward T. Davidson
Truck driver/retired market owner

Edward T. Davidson, 74, of 14586 TR 44, Wharton, died at 10 a.m. Sunday, July 25, 1999, in the emergency room of Wyandot Memorial Hospital, Upper Sandusky.

He was born in Columbus Jan. 15, 1925, to John E. and Hilda B. (Guttenburg) Davidson.

On Oct. 7, 1950, in the Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church, Carey, he married Patricia A. Fox. She survives.

Other survivors include: a son, Thomas of Wharton; three daughters, Lynn Walter of Tiffin, Carla Wall of Upper Sandusky and Cassie Krautsack of Cincinnati; 10 grandchildren; five sisters, Mary Catherine Welly of Tiffin, Winifred Ohlinger and Jessie Farley, both of Carey, Irene Cass of Gillette, Wyo., and Shirley Ellison of Los Angeles, Calif.; and three brothers, Mark Davidson of Nevada, Ralph Davidson of Upper Sandusky and Bill Davidson of Hoagland, Ind.

A daughter, Setina Davidson; a brother, Donald, and a sister, Rachel Long, are deceased.

Mr. Davidson and his wife owned and operated the Lovell Market for 22 years, retiring in 1994.

Prior to that he was employed as a truck driver for Roppe Rubber out of Fostoria for 22 years.

A 1944 graduate of Salem High School, he was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, rural Upper Sandusky, Black-Lamberjack VFW Post 3759, of which he was a charter and life member and had served as its first commander; and the Earl Green American Legion Post 344, of which he was a life member.

A World War II U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Pacific Theater, he also was a life member of the Wyandot County Sportsman Club

The Rev. Ernest Waechter will be the celebrant at the 11 a.m. Thursday funeral Mass in St. Joseph Catholic Church, rural Upper Sandusky.

Interment will be in the parish cemetery, where military graveside rites will be conducted by local veterans organizations.

Visitation at the Stombaugh Memorial Funeral Home, Carey, will be 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Wednesday, with the rosary recited at 8 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the Wyandot County Heart Support Group or the Wyandot County Unit of the American Cancer Society, in care of the Stombaugh Memorial Funeral Home, 225 W. Findlay St., Carey, OH 43316-1169.

Roy Daniel Phelps
Retired Bascom Elevator driver

Roy Daniel Phelps, 80, of Fostoria, died at 8:10 p.m. Tuesday, July 27, 1999, in the Gibsonburg Health Care Center.

He was born in Hancock County, Delaware Township, May 1, 1919, to Grover and Edna (Ebin) Phelps.

He married Hilda Mall July 31, 1948.

She is deceased.

On Feb. 28, 1970, he married Maxine Bloom. They were divorced.

Surviving are three brothers, Louis, John and Robert Phelps, all of Tiffin; and a sister, Mrs. Gerald (Ruth) Hoeph, also of Tiffin.

A 1937 graduate of Columbian High School, Mr. Phelps retired as a truck driver from the Bascom Elevator.

A World War II U.S. Army veteran, he was a member of Fostoria Masonic Lodge 288.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Barndt Funeral Home, Wayne.

Burial will be in Memory Gardens, near Arcadia.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, where Fostoria Masonic services will be at 7.

Memorials may be made to the Fostoria Masonic Lodge.

Cora J. Davis
Homemaker/dress shop owner

Cora J. Davis, 77, of Union Street, Fostoria, died at 7:10 p.m. Tuesday, July 27, 1999, in Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center, Findlay.

She was born in Celina, Sept. 8, 1921, to Clifford and Martha (White) Mcilroy.

Her husband, Thomas W. Davis, whom she married Dec. 23, 1939, in Jacksonville, Ohio, died March 28, 1979.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Thomas (Deborah) Sheets of Fostoria; a brother, Clifford "Junior" Mcilroy of Toledo; a sister, Claudia Dyer of Fostoria; and two grandchildren.

Also preceding her in death were two brothers, Bevon Sr. and Lyle Painter; and four sisters, Clarice Mahaney, Naomia "Sis" Cantwil, Erma Hawkins and Edith Grant.

Mrs. Davis, a homemaker, also was the owner/operator of Geena's Dress Shop in Fostoria.

She also was an active Campfire leader in Fostoria.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria.

Interment will be in Fountain cemetery, Fostoria.

Visitation at the funeral home will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday.

Memorials may be made to Camp Jenee Adult Cancer Camp, in care of the Mann-Hare Funeral Home, 407 N. Countyline St., Fostoria, OH 44830.

James Theron Lowden II
12-day-old infant son

James Theron Lowden II, 12-day-old infant son of James Theron Lowden and Georgia Marie Wise, of 421 W. Wyandot, Upper Sandusky, died at 10:12 p.m. Monday, July 26, 1999, in the Children's Medical Center of Northwest Ohio (the Toledo Hospital), Toledo.

He was born July 14, 1999, in Toledo.

Surviving besides the parents are paternal grandparents, Paula and Wesley Weatherholtz of Upper Sandusky and James J. and Terry Lowden of rural Mt. Blanchard.

Memorial services will be at noon Saturday in the Beach Funeral Home, Carey, with the Rev. Gerry Mohr officiating.

The body has been cremated.

There will be no visitation.

Memorials may be made to the family, in care of the Beach Funeral Home, 214 W. Findlay St., Carey, OH 43316.

Jane Alice Harper
Atlas Crankshaft retiree

Jane Alice Harper, 57, of Christopher Drive, Fostoria, died at 11:50 a.m. Wednesday, July 28, 1999, in Fostoria Community Hospital.

She was born in Gallipolis June 18, 1942, to William and Susie (Lee) Jackson.

Her mother, now Susie Carpenter, survives in Fostoria.

On April 3, 1959, in Gallipolis, she married Allen R. Harper Sr. They were divorced.

Other survivors include: a son, Allen R. "Chuck" Harper of Fostoria; two daughters, Amanda Sue Brooks of Findlay and Melissa Ann "Missy" Harper of Fostoria; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Her father and a daughter, Cynthia Joyce Harper, also are deceased.

Mrs. Harper, who attended Bethel Baptist Church, Fostoria, retired in 1998 from Atlas Crankshaft, Fostoria, where she had been employed for more than 20 years.

She was a member of the Union Baptist Church, Blackfork, Ohio, and the Atlas Bowling League.

She also served as former chairperson for Toys for Tots in the Fostoria area.

The Rev. William Spencer will be the officiant at the 11 a.m. Friday service in the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria.

Burial will be in Fountain cemetery, Fostoria.

Visitation at the funeral home is 7-9 p.m. today.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Aileen Y. McPherson
Fostoria homemaker

Aileen Y. McPherson, 84, of 456 Sunset Drive, Fostoria, died at 3:52 p.m. Wednesday, July 28, 1999, in the Medical College of Ohio Hospital, Toledo.

She was born in Fostoria, Oct. 30, 1914, to Roy and Laila (Drenner) Hoffman. Her husband, Charles R. McPherson, whom she married May 8, 1936, in Fostoria, died Dec. 26, 1979.

Surviving are a son, Gary C. McPherson of Powell; a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Marla) Reep of Cicero, N.Y.; a sister, Mrs. Frank (Royetta) Kirian of Fostoria; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A sister, Lucille Swartz, also is deceased.

Mrs. McPherson, a homemaker, was a member of High Street United Methodist Church, Fostoria.

She was a Fostoria High School graduate.

Services in the Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, with the Rev. Jeffrey Waite officiating.

Interment will be in Fountain cemetery, Fostoria.

There will be no visitation.

Memorials may be made to the Elevator Fund at High Street United Methodist Church, 243 W. High St., Fostoria, OH 44830 or a charity of the donor's choice.
