Edward Murphy
Retired locomotive engineer
Word has been received of the death of Edward Murphy, 76, of Port Charlotte, Fla., who died there Tuesday, July 27, 1999.
He was born April 21, 1923, in Belle Center.
Survivors include his wife, Fern; two daughters, Cathy Bailand of Chandler, Ariz. and Betty Russell of Sarasota, Fla.; a son, Tom Nofzinger of Port Charlotte; a sister, Sarah Mae Vance of Belle Center; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Murphy, a World War II U.S. Navy veteran, retired 15 years ago as a locomotive engineer from Grand Trunk Railroad (formerly D.T. & N.) in Michigan.
He was a member of American Legion Post 110, Port Charlotte and the V.F.W., Flat Rock, Mich.
The family will observe private services.

The National Cremation Society of Port Charlotte is in charge of arrangements.
Paul H. Maurer Jr.
CSX track foreman
Paul H. Maurer Jr., 48, died Wednesday, July 28, 1999, at his residence at 2302 Miller Road, Shelby.
He was born in Willard, Sept. 7, 1950, to Paul and Elizabeth Maurer, who survive in Florida.
His wife, Lucille "Lu" (Berberick) Maurer, also survives.
Other survivors include: a daughter, Ashley and a son, Levi, both at home; four brothers, John Maurer of Greenwith, Jim Maurer of Willard, Joe Maurer of Illinois and Steve Maurer of Florida; two sisters, Kathy Pate and Chris Williams, both of Florida; and other relatives in the Plymouth/Willard area.
Mr. Maurer, a U.S. Marine veteran, was employed as a track foreman for CSX Railroad in Willard.
A resident of the Shelby area for the past 22 years, he was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Plymouth, and its Brotherhood of Maintenance-Of-Way.
The Rev. Mel Verhoff and Sister Joann Brodman will be the co-celebrants at the 11 a.m. Monday funeral Mass in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Plymouth.
Burial will be in Greenlawn cemetery, Plymouth.
Visitation at the Secor Funeral Home, Plymouth, will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday.
Memorials may be made to the family.
Thomas F. Kinninger
Calvert graduate
Thomas F. Kinninger, 67, of Berkeley, Calif., died Thursday, July 22, 1999.
He was born in Cleveland Aug. 20, 1931, to Herman C. and Marcella (Dell) Kinninger, who preceded him in death.
A sister also died in infancy.
Surviving are a brother, Richard Kinninger, of Walnut Creek, Calif.; two sisters, Mary Alice Fox of Tiffin and Florence Kruszynski of Fostoria; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Kinninger graduated in 1950 from Calvert High School.
His remains will be cremated.
There will be a funeral mass at St. Joseph Church at 11 a.m. Aug. 14.
Recitation of the rosary will be at 10:45 and interment will be in St. Joseph cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Calvert Foundation, the Kidney Foundation or a charity of the donor's choice.
Verneda D. 'Peggy' Welty
Risingsun resident
Verneda D. "Peggy" Welty, 74, of Risingsun died at 6:35 a.m. Friday, July 30, 1999, at the Wood County Nursing Home in Bowling Green.
Mr. Welty was born Aug. 11, 1924, in Fremont to Earl R. "Pete" and Mary (Allen) Barlekamp.
On March 4, 1946, she married
Jack L. Welty.
He died May 24, 1999.
Survivors include: two sons, Larry L. Welty and Michael J. Welty, both of Risingsun; a daughter, Kristi K. Smith of Risingsun; a brother, Harold Barlekamp of Fostoria; three grandsons; five great-granddaughters; two step-granddaughters; and three step-great-granddaughters.
In addition to her parents and husband, four brothers preceded her in death: Robert, Earl, Glenn and Dale Barlekamp.
She graduated in 1942 from Risingsun High School and retired from Excello in Fostoria after 30 years as an inspector.
Mrs. Welty was a member of the Risingsun Senior Citizens and the Gulf Shores Alabama Senior Citizens.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, at the Barndt Funeral Home in Wayne with the Rev. James Dumke officiating.
Burial will follow in the Bradner Cemetary at Bradner.
Visitation will be 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Kaubisch Memorial Public Library, Fostoria, or the Bridge Home Health & Hospice of Bowling Green.
Dolores M. DeWald
Tiffin resident
Services for Dolores M. DeWald, 71, of Tiffin, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home.
Miss DeWald died July 21, 1999, at her residence.
The Rev. Daniel Ring will officiate with burial to follow at St. Patrick's Catholic cemetery, Bascom.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation or to the Allen Eiry Senior Center.
J. Hunter Grimm

J. Hunter Grimm, 70, of Bellevue, died Thursday, July 29, 1999, in the Bellevue Hospital.
He was born May 13, 1929, to Frederick and Cora (TerVeen) Grimm.
He married
Kathryn "Kitty" Pittenger April 17, 1949.
She died Feb. 26, 1992. He married
Mary A. Taylor Schlicher July 8, 1972.
He is survived by three sons, James Hunter Grimm II and Edward Grimm, both of Bellevue, Richard C. Grimm of United, Pa.; two daughters, Linda Kuhnle of Sanford, Fla., and Janice M. Depree Winn of Rockville, Ind.; four stepsons, Gary Taylor and Greg Taylor, both of Bellevue, Thomas Taylor of Republic and Scott Taylor of San Franciso, Calif.; four stepdaughters, Patricia, Cornelia, Marieanne and Deborah Hoffman of Marion; 29 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother, John W. Grimm of Bellevue; four sisters, Cathryn Nottke of Bellevue, Joan Woosnam of Seville, Ohio, Martha Robins of Westerville, and Mary Ellen Bowers of Hollywood, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Kathryn, brothers Frederick and Richard, and grandson, Robbie Taylor.
Mr. Grimm formerly owned Hunter Automotive and Grimm Trucking in Bellevue; served in the Marine Corps Reserves; and was a former member of the First Baptist Church in Bellevue.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and the funeral will follow at 8 Sunday, at the Foos & Son Funeral Home in Bellevue with Russell D. Pannell, officiating. Burial will be private at Bellevue Cemetary.

Angela E. Lee, 27, of Oak Harbor Road, Fremont, died Thursday, July 29, 1999, at home.
She was born to Donald and Sylvia Lee in Fremont Oct. 1, 1971.
She is survived by her mother of Fremont; two sons, Thomas D. Lee and James O. Young Jr., both of Fremont; and a sister, Cindy Bartlett of Fremont.
Her father, Donald Lee, preceded her in death.
A graduate of Ross High in 1990, she was employed by the First National Cash Advance as an assistant manager and also worked for the J. C. Penney store in Tiffin.
She was a member of the Hayes United Methodist Church, the American Legion Auxiliary, and loved to garden.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the Wonderly-Horvath Funeral Home in Fremont.
There also will be visitation at the Hayes United Methodist Church one hour prior to the service at the church 10-11 a.m., Monday.
The Rev. Robert J. Campbell will officiate with interment in the Greenlawn Memory Gardens in Clyde.

Stephen E. Harper, 26, died Saturday, July 17, 1999, at his home at 9801 E. CR 12, Bloomville, following a sudden illness.
He is the son of Robert and Jane Harper of Bloomville.
