Joseph Vegso Jr.
National Electrical Carbon retiree

Joseph Vegso Jr., 84, of Glenwood Avenue, Fostoria, died in the Fostoria Community Hospital Sunday evening, Aug. 8, 1999.

He was born Oct. 28, 1914, in Hollister to Joseph and Sophia (Teka) Vegso Sr. His wife, Vivian E. (Koontz) Vegso, whom he married June 7, 1947, in Tiffin, survives in Fostoria.

Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Mr. Vegso, a World War II U.S. Army veteran, retired from National Electrical Carbon Corp. in 1977, after 30 years of employment. He was a member of the Fostoria Eagles Club.

Graveside services in Memory Gardens, near Arcadia, are at 2 p.m. today, with the Rev. Edmond Zickefoose officiating.

There will be no visitation. The Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Fostoria Home Health Care.

Claude Little
Brother of Tiffin residents

Word has been received of the death of Claude Little, 61, of Whitesburg, Ky., who died Tuesday, Aug. 3, 1999, in the University Hospital, Cincinnati.

He was born in Cody, Ky., Aug. 13, 1937, to the late Price and Mary (Sorrell) Little. His wife, Waughletia (Wright) Little, survives in Whitesburg.

Survivors also include: a son, Claude Edward Little of Whitesburg; a daughter, Mrs. Tony (Carol) Brown of Whitesburg; three grandchildren; four brothers, Herbert Little of London, Ky., Charlie Bill Little of Whitesburg, James and Leonard Little, both of Tiffin; and four sisters, Juanita Sayers of London, Faye Reed of Isom, Ky., Geraldine Slosser and Maggie Brown, both of Tiffin.

A sister, Ruth Rackley, also is deceased.

Mr. Little, a U.S. Navy veteran, had been employed at the Sterling in Tiffin.

A former resident of Tiffin, he was a member of the First Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge 754 and the City Council, all of Whitesburg.

Services were conducted in the First Baptist Church, Whitesburg on Aug. 7, with burial following in Sandlick cemetery, Whitesburg.

The Everidge Funeral Home, Whitesburg, was in charge of arrangements.

Dr. Norman C. Krieger
Retired dentist

Dr. Norman C. Krieger, 80, died at 1:50 p.m. Friday, Aug. 6, 1999, at his home at 3386 N. SR 53.

He was born in Cleveland, Aug. 17, 1918, to Carl and Anna (Brandes) Krieger. On Jan. 30, 1943, in Cleveland, he married Martha Allen, who survives.

Other survivors include: a son, Kip Krieger of Maui, Hawaii; a daughter, Heidi Woods of Fairfax, Calif.; and two grandchildren.

Dr. Krieger, a retired dentist, set up his dental practice in 1950.

A World War II U.S. Navy veteran, where he reached the rank of full lieutenant, he graduated from Lincoln High School in Cleveland, received his bachelor's degree from Ohio University and his DDS degree from Case Western Reserve University.

A volunteer for Habitat For Humanity and Mobile Meals, he was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Elks, Masons and Masonic Lodge.

His interests and hobbies included bowling, fishing, skiing, golf, traveling and gardening.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Richard Mahlmann officiating.

Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church on Saturday.

Memorials may be made to the church, Seneca County Habitat for Humanity, Community Hospice or the Seneca County Humane Society.

The Turner-Engle Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Glen A. Shellhouse
Farmer/ Shellhouse Recreation co-owner

Glen A. Shellhouse, 72, 866 E. TR 28, died in Mercy Hospital of Tiffin, at 3:47 p.m. Monday, Aug. 9, 1999.

He was born in Seneca County, Nov. 5, 1926, to Roy N. and Hattie (Kline) Shellhouse. His wife, Juanita (Kleinhenz) Shellhouse, whom he married Sept. 12, 1948, survives.

Survivors also include: a son, Wayne A. Shellhouse of Miami, Fla.; a daughter, Mrs. Raymond (Janis) Weasner of Bloomville; four grandchildren; two brothers, Dale V. and Harold W. Shellhouse, both of rural Tiffin; and a sister, Mrs. Donald J. (Phyllis) Smith, also of rural Tiffin.

Mr. Shellhouse, a 1944 graduate of Melmore High School, where he was very active in sports, was a farmer and co-owner of Shellhouse Recreational Distributors.

An avid hunter and fisherman, he was a member of the Mohawk Historical Society. He also enjoyed hunting mushrooms.

The Rev. David Powell will be the officiant at the 11 a.m. Friday service in the Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore. Burial will be in Pleasant View cemetery, Sycamore.

Visitation at the funeral home will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday.

Memorials may be made to the Mohawk Historical Society.

Elma G. Anderson
Former Tiffin resident

Elma G. Anderson, 89, of Gulfport, Fla., died Monday, Aug. 9, 1999, in the Bayfront Medical Center.

She was born in Jackson Township and moved to Gulfport from Tiffin in 1959.

Survivors include: three sons, Ralph T. Johnson of Port Charlotte, Fla., Robert E. Johnson of Arizona and Ronald C. Johnson of Texas; a daughter, Rita A. Kugler of Findlay; a brother, Charles Cross of Plainville, Ill.; a sister, Ann Butler of Sacramento, Calif.; 22 grandchildren and many great- and great-great-grandchildren.

A former resident of Tiffin and a member of the Protestant Faith, Mrs. Anderson was an active volunteer with the Gulfport Senior Center, Meals on Wheels and the library.

The Gulfport Memorial Funeral Home, 5601 Gulfport Blvd. S, Gulfport, FL 33707, is in charge of arrangements.

Charles W. 'Charlie' Messmer
UAP/Dana Corp. retiree

Charles W. "Charlie" Messmer, 64, of 811 E. Findlay St., Carey, died at 10:10 p.m. Monday, Aug. 9, 1999, in Marion General Hospital, following a brief illness.

He was born June 25, 1935, in Wyandot County, to the late Raymond J. and Mildred M. (Jones) Messmer. On April 7, 1954, in Liberty, Ind., he married Beverly Jean Nunley, who preceded him in death Sept. 9, 1998.

Surviving are: three daughters, Mrs. Steven (Pamela) Gossman and Mrs. Roger (Brenda) Phillips, both of Carey and Mrs. Kenneth (Babs) Atwell of Upper Sandusky; two sons, Charles E. Messmer of Nevada and William D. Messmer of Carey; 16 grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; a brother, Harold E. Messmer of Upper Sandusky; and two sisters, Mrs. Jim (Rhea) Hoy of Georgia and Mrs. James (Helen) Bell of Upper Sandusky.

Mr. Messmer retired from the Dana Corp., Continental Hose in Upper Sandusky, in June of this year, after five years of employment. He also retired from UAP in Forest, where he had worked for 19 years.

A member of the Harvest Time Chapel, Vanlue; Carey Conservation Club, the National Rifle Association and Ohio Big Buck Association, he was an avid sports enthusiast and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the Harvest Time Chapel, with the Rev. Ray Fischer and the Rev. James Robinette as co-officiants. Interment will be in Spring Grove cemetery, Carey.

Visitation at the Stombaugh Memorial Funeral Home, Carey, will be 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Thursday and at the church one hour prior to the service on Friday.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Thelma M. Brandt
Fostoria Homemaker

Thelma M. Brandt, 80, died at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 11, 1999, at her residence at 544 Stinchcomb Drive, Fostoria.

She was born in Kenton, Feb. 9, 1919, to Pearle E. and Maude (Bloom) Taylor. On March 23, 1940, in Fostoria, she married Robert H. Brandt, who died Sept. 3, 1991.

Surviving are: two sons, James R. Brandt of Fostoria and Robert L. Brandt of Tucson, Ariz.; two daughters, Mrs. David (Kristine) Scherf and Dawn T. Tsantles, both of Fostoria; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Three brothers, Lloyd P., Edwin and Robert Taylor; and a great-grandchild also are deceased.

Mrs. Brandt, a homemaker, was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, Fostoria.

Services in the Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria, will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, with the Rev. Richard Hofmann, officiating. Interment will be in Memory Gardens, near Arcadia.

Visitation at the funeral home will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday.

Memorials may be made to the church or the American Heart Association.

Gloria Reiter
Fremont resident

Gloria Reiter, 71, of 2040 Elm Drive, Fremont, died at her home at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 11, 1999. Arrangements are pending at the Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home.

Loretta V. (Faber) Sartor
Mother of Tiffin residents

Loretta V. (Faber) Sartor, 99, of 1121 Marlboro St., Sandusky, died at her residence Tuesday evening, Aug. 10, 1999.

She was born March 29, 1900, in Sandusky, to Fredrick and Cecelia (Kromer) Faber. Her husband Carroll D. Sartor, died in 1990.

Survivors include: four daughters, Cecelia M. Klepper of Sandusky, Sister Francine Sartor OSF of Tiffin, Elaine Jesberger of Sandusky and Sister Dionne Sartor OSF, also of Tiffin; four sons, Carroll A. "Jay" Sartor of Sandusky, Paul F. Sartor of Grafton, Richard A. Sartor of Deerborn, Mich. and Ronald V. Sartor of Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich.; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Lucinda Ohlemacher of Sandusky; and a brother, Richard Faber of New Brownfels, Texas.

A son, Father Alfred Sartor O.F.M. Conv.; four sisters, Arvilla Opfer, Emiline Hemminger, Marietta Faber and Irene Kaul; and five brothers, Lamont, Harold, Gilbert, Alfred and Irwin Faber, also are deceased.

Mrs. Sartor, a 1916 graduate of St. Mary's High School, was a homemaker.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, its Altar and Rosary Society, the Third Order Secular Franciscan, VFW Auxiliary and a former member of the Daughters of Isabella.

She was the recipient of the Franciscan "Mother of the Year" Donna Pica Award and was devoted to helping the Society for the Blind.

Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday in the Groff Funeral Home, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Ave., Sandusky. The Rev. Philip Feltman will be the celebrant. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery, Sandusky.

Visitation at the funeral home is 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. today.

Memorials may be made to Father Alfred's Scholarship Fund, St. Mary's Endowment Fund, 429 Central Ave., Sandusky, Ohio 44870; Stein Hospice Service, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, Ohio 44870 or Providence Home Health Care.

Virginia V. Lucadello
Flower/gift shop retiree

Virginia V. Lucadello, 82, of West Center Street, Fostoria, died at 4:09 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 11, 1999, in Fostoria Community Hospital.

She was born Feb. 9, 1917, in Glouster, Ohio, to Oscar and Ethel (Deem) Moody. Her husband, Anthony "Tony" Lucadello, whom she married May 14, 1938, in Decatur, Ind., died May 8, 1989.

Surviving are: a daughter, Toni Lucadello of Fostoria; a sister, Viola Kamence of Fostoria; and a granddaughter, Laney Fugett of Massillon.

Two brothers, Dwight and Jerald Moody; and a sister, Betty Gobbo, also are deceased.

Mrs. Lucadello, a 1934 graduate of Fostoria High School, retired in 1987 from a flower and gift shop in Fostoria, after 30 years of employment.

She was a member of Grace United Church of Christ, Fostoria, where she had served as a former board member and as past president of the Consistory.

She also was a former volunteer at Fostoria Community Hospital and a member of the Forem Club of Fostoria.

The Rev. Lucinda Hunter will be the officiant at the noon Saturday service in Grace United Church of Christ. Burial will be in Fountain cemetery, Fostoria.

Visitation at the church will be one hour prior to the service on Saturday.

Memorials may be made to the church or Fostoria Junior Baseball.

The Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria, is in charge of arrangements.

Janet M. Biller
Biller's Rubber Stamps co-owner

Janet M. Biller, 64, of 1108 Jackson St., Greenville, died at her home at 2:35 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 10, 1999, following a long illness.

She was born in Greenville, April 18, 1935, the daughter of the late Harold and Estella (Smith) Reiber. On Feb. 22, 1969, she married Dorsey A. Biller Sr., who survives.

Other survivors include: two step-sons, Dorsey Biller Jr. of Mt. Pleasant, S.C. and Philip Biller of Ashville, Ohio; two step-daughters, Rita Simpson of Arcanum, Ohio and Deborah Freedman of Tacoma, Wash.; five step-grandchildren; and a step-great-grandchild.

A step-son and a step-grandson are deceased.

Mrs. Biller, a life member of the Greenville VFW Auxillary, was co-owner of BIller's Rubber Stamps.

She also was a member of Women of the Moose, Greenville and AMVETS Post 66 Auxiliary, where she also was a life member.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, with Pastor Samuel Hoelflich officiating. Burial will be in St. Jacob's cemetery, Republic.

Visitation at the funeral home is 5-8 p.m. today.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Darke County.
