Gloria Reiter
Tiffin resident

Gloria Reiter, 71, of 119 Coe St., died at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 11, 1999, at her daughter's residence in Fremont.

Mrs. Reiter was born Nov. 23, 1927, in Fostoria to Fred and Helen (Leech) Morgan.

She married Gene J. Reiter Sr. July 13, 1949, in Fostoria. He died Aug. 21, 1995.

Surviving are a son Gene J. Reiter Jr., of Tiffin; three daughters, Mrs. Jerry (Georgette) Shiets of Fremont, Mrs. Peter (Gisele) Kuhn of St. Louis, Mo., and Mrs. Randy (Genise) Swander of Clarksville, Tenn; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were a brother, Fred Morgan Jr., and a sister, Josephine Beltz.

She was retired from the Tiffin Developmental Center, where she was an attendant and was a member of the Catholic Ladies of Columbia.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael Grine officiating. Interment will be in the St. Joseph cemetery.

Calling hours are 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Arthritis Foundation.

Richard "Dick" Beinbrech
Former Upper Sandusky resident

Richard "Dick" Beinbrech, 78, of Leesburg, Fla., died Wednesday, July 28, 1999, in Leesburg. He was formerly of the Upper Sandusky and Westerville areas.

Mr. Beinbrech was born July 29, 1921, to Walter C. and Flora S. (Humbert) Beinbrech in Upper Sandusky. On June 24, 1950, he married Polly Curry in Upper Sandusky. She survives.

Also surviving are a son, Drew Beinbrech of Pickerington; two daughters, Vicki Steed of Catlettsburg, Ky., and Barbara Rupp of Westerville; five grandchildren; and a brother, Thomas F. of Shelby.

A brother, William, preceded him in death.

Mr. Beinbrech was a World War II veteran serving in the Army.; a member of the American Legion as well as several masonic bodies in the Westerville/Columbus area.

A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Hill Funeral Home in Westerville, followed by a graveside service at 1 p.m. at the Old Mission cemetery in Upper Sandusky. This service will be conducted by Masonic Brothers of the Columbus area.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Foundation of Lake and Sumter Inc., 12300 Lane Park Rd., Tavares, FL 32778-9972.

The Bringman-Clark & Co. Funeral Home of Upper Sandusky is in charge of the services.

Roberta G. Fuller
Former Tiffin resident

Roberta G. Fuller, 58, of 1253 Bush St., Apt. 402, San Francisco, Calif., died at 5:42 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 10, 1999, in San Francisco. She had been a patient at the Coming Home Hospice Care Center since July 20, 1999.

The Turner-Engle Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

Lenwood L. Carter
Retired Whirlpool press operator

Lenwood L. Carter, 82, died Thursday, Aug. 12, 1999, at his residence on West Buckeye Street in Clyde.

Mr. Carter was born June 6, 1917, to Marion Tully and Hattie Maii (Allison) Carter in Bakers Crossroads, Tenn.

On April 8, 1939, he married Josie (Miller) Carter. She survives.

Other survivors include two sons, Roger Carter of Clyde and Michael Carter of Huron; two daughters, Mrs. Clyde (Lynda) Ridall and Mrs. Raul (Patricia) Ysaguiree, both of Clyde; 15 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a sister Bertha Marks of Clyde.

Preceding him in death were three grandchildren, Cheryl Carter, Alicia Carter and Roger V. Carter; four brothers, John Monroe, Willie Issac, Horace Vernal and Van Wesley Carter; four sisters Effie Jane Ballew, Mary Susan Barr, Sarah Rachel Dildine and Edna Norine Rich.

He had been a Clyde resident since 1952. He was a press operator for the Clyde Whirlpool Corp. until he retired in 1980. He was a member of the Free Will Baptist Church, Clyde.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home in Clyde with the Rev. Paul Finney officiating. Burial will be in the McPherson cemetery.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Robert J. Cook
Tiffin resident's father

Robert J. Cook, 78, of Dayton, died Monday, Aug. 9, 1999, at Good Samaritan Hospital.

He was born Aug. 5, 1921, in Tamaqua, Pa., to Russell and Elizabeth (Swing) Cook.

Mr. Cook is survived by his wife of 44 years, Roberta (Drinkwater) Cook; a daughter, Mrs. Guy (Diana) Leslie of Tiffin; two grandchildren; a brother, William K. of Bandon, Ore.; and by nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas E. Cook.

Mr. Cook was a U.S. Navy veteran having served during World War II. He retired in 1976 from Wright-Patterson Air Force Base after 32 years of service. He graduated in 1932 from the Oakwood High School. He also graduated from the University of Cincinnati, where he was a member of Beta Theta Pi and was the first University of Cincinnati co-op student to work at NCR. He loved to travel and enjoyed the company of his pets.

Memorial services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Grace United Methodist Church, 1001 Harvard Blvd. at Salem Ave., with the Rev. Dr. Bryan Palmer-Smith officiating. The family will receive friends following memorial services at the church.

The family requests that contributions be made to S.I.C.S.A., 2600 Wilmington Pike, Dayton, 45419 or to the Dayton Area Heart/Cancer Assoc., 120 Zeigler St., Dayton, 45402-2543.

Arrangements are by American Cremation Service.

Janice L. Boroff
Retired Tiffin City teacher

Janice L. Boroff, 87, of 198 Walker St., died Thursday morning, Aug. 12, 1999, at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo, after a sudden illness.

Mrs. Boroff was born Feb. 15, 1912, in Eden Township, Seneca County, to Harry and Agnes (Longacre) Hoffert Sr. She married John J. Boroff June 22, 1946, in Melmore. He died Feb. 6, 1998.

Surviving are: two sons, James W. Boroff and Joseph H. Boroff, both of Tiffin; three daughters, Mrs. George (Judith A.) Brown of Bellevue, Neb., Janet R. Boroff of Cygnet, Mrs. Dale (Joyce E.) Wisebaker of Tiffin; and seven grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Harry Hoffert Jr.

Mrs. Boroff was a lifelong member of the Melmore United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher, a Sunday school superintendent and a church trustee. She graduated from Eden Township High School in 1929; was a 1933 graduate of Bowling Green Normal School; a 50-year member and past worthy matron of Tiffin Chapter 189 OES; a member of the local, state and national retired teachers association; and a member of the National Cookies Cutters Collection Club.

Mrs. Boroff taught school for 30 years: five years in Eden Township one-room schools and 25 years as an elementary teacher for the Tiffin City Schools, retiring in 1977.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in the Melmore United Methodist Church with the Rev. Howard Huston officiating. Burial will be in Rock Creek cemetery, Tiffin.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the Lindsey-Olds Funeral Home, at 3085 S. SR. 19, Bloomville where Tiffin Chapter 189 OES will conduct Eastern Star services at 7:30.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Melmore United Methodist Church, or to a charity of the donors choice.

Bessie M. Bernal
Fostoria Middle School secretary

Bessie M. Bernal, 46, of 9105 SR 18, Fostoria, died at 12:48 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 12, 1999, in Hancock County.

She was born April 8, 1953, in Findlay to Agapito and Josephine (Coleman) Gonzales Sr. They survive in Findlay.

She married Gilberto "Bob" Bernal in Findlay. He survives in Fostoria.

Other survivors include: two sons, Beto C. and Augustine I. of Fostoria; a daughter, Christina "Turtle" of Fostoria; a granddaughter; five brothers Frank C. Gonzales, Agapito "Butch" Gonzales Jr., both of Fostoria, Santos "Punkin" Gonzales, Paul Gonzales and Joseph James Gonzales, all of Findlay; three sisters Alice Frias of Fostoria, Juanita Slade of Arcadia and Lisa A. Bisbee of Findlay.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Jesse Gonzales.

Mrs. Bernal had been a secretary for Fostoria Middle School since 1995 and previously a secretary for Excello - (Airfoil Textron), Fostoria, Marathon, Findlay, and Dunipace law office.

Memberships included: St. Wendelin Catholic Church; 1971 graduate of Findlay High School, Browns Backers Organization Member and Secretary, 1990 Stautzenberger College Graduate in Secretarial Science, Legal and Medical, Business Women's Association, helped with Middle School athletics and member of the Secretaries/Fiscal Services Personnel of the school.

The funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in St. Wendelin Catholic Church with burial in St. Wendelin Parish cemetery.

Visitation will be 2-9 p.m. Sunday in the Hoening Funeral Home in Fostoria, where a Christian wake service will be at 8:30 p.m. Sunday. The Rosary will be recited at 10 a.m. Monday at the church.

Memorials may be made to the Fostoria City Schools and St. Wendelin Schools.

Clair W. Guinther
Retired farmer

Clair W. Guinther, 80, of 5382 US 30, Upper Sandusky, died at 5:55 a.m. Friday, Aug. 13, 1999, in Grant Hospital in Columbus.

He was born July 3, 1919, in Crane Township, Wyandot County, to Irvin W. and Alice E. (Kinsley) Guinther.

He is survived by a sister, Mary Guinther of Columbus. A brother, Joseph I. Guinther, preceded him in death.

He was a retired Crane Township grain and livestock farmer; was affiliated with the Methodist faith; was a former member of National Farmers Organization; enjoyed eating out and driving around the community in his pickup truck; raised hogs; cared for his cats; and enjoyed cutting firewood.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Bringman-Clark & Co. Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky with the Rev. John Hoover officiating. Burial will be in Nevada cemetery.

Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Salem United Methodist Church-Eden Twp.; the Wyandot Co. E.M.S.; or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Earl D. Brownell, Jr.
Retired Army staff sergeant

S/Sgt. Earl D. Brownell Jr., 78, of Potter Road, Bellevue, died Wednesday, Aug. 11, 1999, at the Wright-Patterson Medical Center, Air Force Base, Fairborn, following a brief illness.

He was born March 8, 1921, in Glen Park, N.Y., to Earl D. and Minnie (Kleinpaste) Brownell. He had lived in Bellevue since 1974, having previously lived in Fremont and Clyde.

Mr. Brownell was a graduate of Glen Park High School and had played semi-pro football. He retired as a U.S. Army staff sergeant in 1965 and from Johnson Corp, where he had worked from 1965 to 1981. He was in the Army during World War II, the Korean Conflict and Vietnam.

On Jan. 11, 1964, he married Nita M. Hyatt Kirby. She survives.

Also surviving are a son, Robbie Lee Brownell of Huron; and a stepdaughter Marita C. Edwards of Port Clinton.

A sister, Lois Stevens, preceded him in death.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Auxter-Groff Funeral Home in Bellevue with the Rev. Paul Finney officiating. Interment will be in the Greenlawn Memory Gardens, Clyde.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Military graveside services will be provided by the Fort Knox Army Base.

John J. Weber
Tiffin resident

John J. Weber, 89, died at 6:40 p.m. Friday, Aug. 13, 1999, at his residence at 149 Jackson St.

He was born in South Milwaukee, Wisc., Oct. 18, 1909, to Valentine and Josephine (Kaczmarowski) Weber. On Sept. 12, 1942, in St. Mary Catholic Church, Tiffin, he married Marjorie Decker, who survives.

Other survivors include: a daughter, Mrs. George (Kayleen) Fretz Jr. of Tiffin; a son, John "Joe" Weber of Tiffin; two brothers, Stanley Weber of Tiffin and Andrew Weber of Cherokee Village, Ark.; a sister, Joan Polter of Fremont; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were two brothers, Philip and Joseph; two sisters, Veronica and Frances; and a grandson.

Mr. Weber, who was retired, had worked at the Tiffin Glass Co. and alsoTiffin Art Metal, where he was a sheet metal worker.

A World War II U.S. Army veteran, he was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and VFW Post 2858. He also played football for both the Tiffin Merchants and the Tiffin Cornells.

A funeral Mass in St. Mary Catholic Church will be at 10 a.m. Monday, with the Rev. Frank A. Murd officiating. The rosary will be recited at the church at 9:45 a.m. Monday. Burial will be in the parish cemetery, where military graveside services will be conducted by the United Veterans Council.

Visitation at the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home is 6-9 p.m. today, with a wake service at 8:45 p.m.

Memorials may be made to Community Hospice Care, the Muscular Dystrophy Association or a charity of the donor's choice.

Leah M. Niemota
Homemaker/former A&P Employee

Leah M. Niemota, 87, formerly of 430 Stadium Drive, Fostoria, died Sunday morning, Aug. 15, 1999, in the Autumnwood Care Center.

She was born May 14, 1912, in Seneca County, to Edward and Maude (Humbert) Hedden. Her husband, Henry "Hine" Niemota, whom she married June 23, 1937, died Jan. 19, 1981.

Surviving are two sisters, Helen Yoder of Fostoria and Pauline Pasch of Fremont; and three brothers, Fred Hedden of Kansas, Lawrence Hedden of Tiffin and Paul Hedden of Dublin, Ohio.

Also preceding her in death were a brother, Harold Hedden; and a sister, Susan Gee.

A homemaker, Mrs. Niemota also worked at the former A&P Grocery Store in Fostoria for 10 years.

She was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria and enjoyed bowling.

A funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in St. Wendelin Catholic Church, where the rosary will be recited at 10 a.m.. Burial will be in Kansas cemetery.

Visitation at the Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria, will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, with a Christian wake service at 8:30 p.m.

Memorials may be made to Kansas cemetery, the church or Freedom Hall of Autumnwood Care Center.
