Margaret Ellen Cavey-Brock
Fostoria homemaker

Margaret Ellen Cavey-Brock, 72, of 725 Columbus Ave., Fostoria, died at 9:05 a.m. Friday, Sept. 17, 1999, in St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo.

She was born June 11, 1927, to Jefferson Lee and Celesta Bell (Millhoan) Hogue in Glouster. In March 1947 she married Robert Harlan Cavey. He died Dec. 16, 1979. She married Wayman Cecil Brock in September 1980, and they were divorced.

Survivors include: two sons, Charles W. Cavey and Robert L. Cavey, both of Fostoria; two daughters, Mary Hemmerly of Findlay and Mrs. Tom (Lola) Tyson of Fostoria; 25 grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death, in addition to her first husband, were four brothers and a sister.

She was a homemaker.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in the Mann-Hare Funeral Home in Fostoria with the Rev. Dale Neller officiating. Interment will be in Fountain cemetery, Fostoria.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Paul G. Spence
Retired state probation officer

Paul G. Spence, 80, of 189 S. Monroe St., died at 2:14 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 16, 1999, in Mercy Hospital.

Mr. Spence was born Nov. 28, 1918, in Columbus to Paul G. and Nelle (Daughterty) Spence Sr. He married Martha Morrissey March 2, 1946, in Flint, Mich. She survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Mark D. Spence of Westerville, Timothy E. Spence of Washington, D. C., and Jeffery Spence of Pickerington; a daughter, Paula Spence of Tiffin; a granddaughter and a step-grandson.

Preceding him in death was a brother, Richard Spence.

Mr. Spence was a 1945 Ohio State University graduate; a state probation officer in Columbus for 22 years, retiring in 1985. He also was chief, Adult Parole Authority; a member of the Phi Gamma Delta; and Epsilon Pi Tau honor fraternity.

There will be a private graveside service at 2 p.m. Monday at St. Joseph cemetery. Chaplain Will Marling will officiate and the vocalist will be Carl Schmueckle, both of the Gahanna Police Department.

There will be no visitation.

The Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Memorials may be made the Seneca County Humane Society.

Doris M. Shock
Bloomville resident

Doris M. Shock, 61, of SR 4, Bloomville, died at 3:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 17, 1999, at Heartland Nursing Center, Bucyrus after an extended illness.

Arrangements are pending at the Lindsey-Foos-Kocher Funeral Service, 1295 W. Tiffin St., Attica.

Ethel E. Brown
Homemaker/cook/nurse's aide

Ethel E. Brown, 88, of 221 S. 5th St., Upper Sandusky, died at 5:40 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 19, 1999, in the Wyandot Manor Nursing Home, Upper Sandusky.

She was born Aug. 24, 1911, in Greenup County, Old Town, Ky., to William and Lona (Brown) Johnson. On Aug. 26, 1939, in Greenup, she married Clyde "Hank" Brown. He died May 3, 1987.

Survivors include: a son, James H. Brown of Gahanna; a daughter, Mrs. Daniel (Mary Ann) Schertzer of Upper Sandusky; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, James Johnson of Greenup; and three sisters, Georgia Wood of Milan, Mich., Dorothy Ratliff and Velma Meadows, both of Greenup.

A daughter, Reva Ratliff; a granddaughter, Cynthia Brown; two brothers, Oscar and Ernest "Pete" Johnson and two sisters, Myrtle and Mary Johnson, are deceased.

Mrs. Brown, a homemaker, also worked as a cook at the former Evergreen Restaurant and as a nurse's aide at Fairhaven Community Health Care Center, both of Upper Sandusky. She also did babysitting.

A member of the Nazarene Church, Upper Sandusky, she enjoyed gardening.

The Rev. Ben Gregory and the Rev. Harley Duncan will be the co-officiants at the 1:30 p.m. Wednesday service in the Bringman-Clark and Company Funeral Home, Upper Sandusky. Burial will be in Old Mission cemetery, Upper Sandusky.

Visitation at the funeral home is 6-9 p.m. today.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Wyandot County, the church, the Kidney Foundation or a charity of the donor's choice.

William Paul Randell
Former Tiffin resident

A memorial Mass for William Paul Randell, 73, of Palmetto, Fla., who died Saturday, Aug. 15, 1999, in Florida, will be at 8:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Mary Catholic Church, Tiffin. Burial was in St. Joseph cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Calvert Foundation, American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society. The Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Darrel Wayne Peace
Retired food service manager

Darrel Wayne Peace, 44, of North Countyline Street, Fostoria, died Sunday, Sept. 19, 1999, in the Henry Ford Medical Center, Detroit, Mich.

He was born July 18, 1955, in Pineville, Ky., to Jack and Ostolla "Sally" (Hoskins) Peace. His mother, now Sally Baker, survives in Fostoria. His wife, Natley J. (Miller) Peace, whom he married Feb. 14, 1984, in Fostoria, also survives in Fostoria.

Other survivors include: four sons, Todd Peace of Columbus, Matt, Jason and Andrew Peace, all of Fostoria; two stepsons, Tod Bartley of Fostoria and Terry Bartley of Charleston, W.Va.; a stepdaughter, Melissa Bartley of Fostoria; two brothers, Don Peace of Temple, Texas, and Richard Peace of Van Buren; two sisters, Regina Scott and Sharon Young, both of Fostoria; and two grandchildren.

His father is deceased.

Mr. Peace, a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Vietnam era, retired as a food service manager.

Services in the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, with the Rev. Larry Kidwell officiating. Burial will be in Fountain cemetery, Fostoria.

Visitation at the funeral home will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Hildreth A. Tuttle
Fostoria Credit Union retiree

Hildreth A. Tuttle, 63, of 1312 Laurel Drive, Fostoria, died at 5:52 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 21, 1999, in Fostoria Community Hospital. Services are pending at the Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria.

Betty L. Gockerman
Sandusky Ford retiree

Betty L. Gockerman, 74, of 712 Betty Lane, Fostoria, died at 3:40 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 21, 1999, in Fox Run Manor, Findlay.

She was born Aug. 27, 1925, in McComb, to Ralph and Dora (Dray) Crawfis. On July 6, 1946, in Mount Cory, she married James W. Gockerman. He survives in Fostoria.

Other survivors include: a son, James R. Gockerman of Erie, Mich.; a daughter, Mrs. Ronald (Patricia) Sours of Tiffin; her stepmother, Leona Crawfis of Bluffton; two sisters, Mrs. John (Bonnie) Waller of Van Buren and Mrs. Louis (Bernice) Gossard of Bluffton a half sister, Beverly Hooker, also of Bluffton; and four grandchildren.

Mrs. Gockerman, a member of UAW Local 914, retired in 1984 from the Ford Motor Co. in Sandusky, after 31 years of employment on the production line.

The Rev. Branson J. Hawkes will conduct the 10 a.m. Thursday service in the Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria. Interment will be in Fountain cemetery, Fostoria.

Visitation at the funeral home is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society-Seneca County Unit.

Walter G. 'Bud' Shaffer
Sheet metal worker

Walter G. "Bud" Shaffer, 47, 62 Gross St., died in the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Cleveland, at 12:25 p.m. Monday, Sept. 20, 1999. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until time of the service at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home., where further arrangements are pending.

Leo Wilkinson Sr.
Self-employed farmer

Leo Wilkinson Sr., 80, of 4020 Portage View Road, Bloomdale, died at 8:13 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 21, 1999, in Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center, Findlay.

He was born in Piggott, Ark., Dec. 3, 1918, to Harry and Ethel (Malone) Wilkinson. His first wife, Lyra R. (Longacre) Wilkinson, whom he married May 31, 1941, died Feb. 24, 1987. He married Marilyn Heter Feb. 11, 1989, in Bellevue. She survives in Bloomdale.

Survivors include: a son, Lee Wilkinson of Findlay; two daughters, Mrs. Dennis (Lynn) Dorman of Findlay and Mrs. Ken (Lori) Pickering of Richmond, Va.; a brother, Lasley Wilkinson of McComb; three sisters, Mrs. W.E. (Iola) Billingsley and Mrs. Henry (Thelma) Smith, both of Findlay, and Mrs. Rex (Amy) Fishbaugh of Pinehurst, N.C.; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.

Also preceding him in death were two brothers, Everet and Lindall Wilkinson; and a sister, Leola Lorene Wilkinson.

Mr. Wilkinson, a self-employed Bloomdale area farmer for 58 years, was a member of the Bloomdale Commercial Club.

A member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Bloomdale, where he served as an usher and former Sunday school teacher. He also was a member of the Farm Bureau and former member of the A.S.C.S. board of directors.

Services in the Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria, will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, with the Rev. Neil Foster and the Rev. Maurice Mitchell as co-officiants. Interment will be in Riverview cemetery, West Millgrove.

Visitation is 7-9 p.m. today and 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, Bloomdale.

Ruth W. Bohyer
Retired homemaker

Ruth W. Bohyer, 90, of Findlay, died at 2:15 p.m. Saturday in the Heritage Nursing Home, Findlay.

She was born in Deshler March 1, 1909. Her father, Phillip White, is deceased. Her husband, Rodney L. Bohyer, died April 20, 1971.

A son, John Bohyer of Arvada, Colo., survives.

Mrs. Bohyer was a homemaker.

Graveside services will be at 9 a.m. Thursday in Memory Gardens near Arcadia, with the Rev. Donald Goodwin officiating.

There will be no visitation. The Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

John H. Baker
Brother of Tiffin/Fostoria residents

Word has been received of the death of John H. Baker, 59, of Louisville, Ky., who died Monday, Sept. 20, 1999.

Survivors include his wife, Frances (Berghaus) Baker of Louisville, Ky.; four children, J. Frank Baker of New Albany, Ind., and Michael R. Baker, Lisa J. Carr and Kevin L. Baker, all of Louisville; his mother, Mildred M. Baker of Gibsonburg; two brothers, Robert Baker of Fostoria and Walter Baker of Oregon, Ohio; three sisters, Jane Longo of Tiffin, Judy Bauer of Gibsonburg and Mary Brion of Fremont; and six granddaughters.

Mr. Baker, a native of Bettsville, retired as a production worker from Multi-Metals.

A U.S. Army veteran, he was a member of the International Association of Machinists 681 and South Louisville Christian Church.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Evergreen Funeral Home, Louisville. Interment will be in Evergreen Mausoleum.

Visitation at the funeral home is 10 a.m.-8 p.m. today.

Memorials may be made to the Multiple Myeloma Foundation.

Agnes A. Risner
Autolite retiree

Agnes A. Risner, 80, died at 9:20 p.m. Monday, Sept. 20, 1999, at her home on West Lytle Street, Fostoria.

She was born in Glenroy, Ohio, March 18, 1919, to William and Ella (Dye) Deck. She first married Franklin Capehart and they were divorced. Her second husband, Homer Risner, whom she married in 1960, in Fostoria, died Jan. 13, 1970.

Survivors include: two sons, James F. Capehart Sr. of Columbus and Robert R. Capehart of Fostoria; a daughter, Shirley Foster of Fostoria; a sister, Nola Gardner, also of Fostoria; nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Also preceding her in death were two sisters, Hazel Haning and Theresa Bowles; and a brother, Alfred Deck.

Mrs. Risner, a member of the First Church of the Nazarene, its Mission Society and Prime Time, Fostoria, retired as an inspector in 1978 from the Autolite in Fostoria, after 30 years of service.

She also was a member of Eagles 430 Ladies Auxiliary, AARP, the Golden Threads of Fremont, UAW Local 533 and St. Catherine's Ladies Auxiliary.

The Rev. Russell Gumm will be the officiant at the 11 a.m. Friday service in the First Church of the Nazarene. Burial will be in Memory Gardens, near Arcadia.

Visitation at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria, will be 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday.

Memorials may be made to the church, Bridge Hospice or the American Cancer Society.

Jane M. Assenheimer
Tiffin schools retiree

Jane M. Assenheimer, 87, of 25 Christopher Drive, and St. Catherine's Care Center, Fostoria, died at 6:03 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 23, 1999. She was born March 3, 1912, in Bucyrus to Harry A. and Della (Mollenkopf) Dunlap. On June 9, 1935, she married Clarence W. Assenheimer. He died May 1985.

Surviving are a son, Paul W. Assenheimer of Lima; three daughters, Mrs. Douglas (Sue A.) Metz of Bowling Green, Mrs. Ronald (Kay L.) Buckner of Tiffin and Ann M. Koning of Berlin Center, OH.; a brother James Dunlap of Sarasota, Fla.; a sister, Mary Tomkin of Bucyrus; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Preceding him in death was a grandchild.

Mrs. Assenheimer graduated from Bucyrus High School, attended Capital University, where she sang in the Chapel Choir, and was a soloist with the men's glee club. She worked as a technician in health services for the Tiffin City Schools, she sang in the church choir and was an active member in the First Lutheran Church.

The Rev. Margaret M. Marks and The Rev. Melanie Haack will both officiate the 4 p.m. Saturday service at the First Lutheran Church. Burial will be at Seneca Memory Gardens.

Visitation hours are 2:30-4 p.m. Saturday before the service in the Dietz Room at the First Lutheran Church. Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the First Lutheran Church Music Department or to the charity of the donor's choice.
