Mary Agnes Shilling
(1918 - 2004)
EDON - Mary Agnes Shilling, 86, of Edon, died Friday, March 26, 2004, at the Dilworth Center, Montpelier, where she was a patient.
Born Feb. 13, 1918, at Toledo, to Helen (Beckert) and Edward Morlock, she married Bernard A. Shilling in May 1938 and he preceded her in death in 1985.
She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Blakeslee.
Surviving are two daughters, Mary Ann Shilling and Rosemarie Shilling, both of Edon; three sons, Edward (and wife, Joan) Shilling of Maumee, James Shilling of Toledo and Paul Shilling of Edon; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Connie Gordy of Toledo; and a sister-in-law, JoAnn Pisarsky of Sandusky.
She was preceded in death by a sister, two brothers and one grandson, Greg Shilling.
Visitation will be held Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the Krill Funeral Home, Edon, followed by a recitation of the rosary.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Blakeslee, with Father Fred Duschl to officiate. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Blakeslee.

Ruth E. Houk
(1906 - 2004)
EDGERTON - Ruth E. Houk, 97, of Edgerton, died Friday, March 26, 2004, at Parkview Nursing Center, Edgerton, where she was a resident.
Born Dec. 5, 1906, at Defiance County, to Louetta (Kisabeth) and Roy Strain, she married Frederick W. 'Fritz' Houk on Dec. 24, 1936, at Edgerton, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 4, 1994.
A registered nurse and an operating room supervisor in Detroit prior to returning to this area, she was then a Williams County Health Nurse for 10 years. She was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Edgerton, and of the Priscilla Club in Edgerton.
She is survived by two nieces, Margaret Rohrs of Hicksville and Mrs. Lavon (Pat) Day of Bryan.
Visitation will be held Sunday from 1-3 p.m. in the Krill Funeral Home, Edgerton.
Services will be held Sunday at 3:30 p.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Chris Sigmon to officiate. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Edgerton.
Memorials may be made to Edgerton EMS or Zion Lutheran Church.
Daniel H. Lockhart
(1948 - 2004)
ANTWERP - Daniel H. Lockhart, 55, of Antwerp, died suddenly Thursday, June 3, 2004, at Paulding County Hospital, Paulding.
Born Sept. 16, 1948, at Clarksburg, W.Va., to Marguerite (Cox) and Carl L. Lockhart, he married Sandra M. West on Jan. 2, 1971, and she survives.
Employed as a mixer truck driver at Irving Ready Mix, Fort Wayne, Ind., for seven years, he had also worked at Johns Manville in Defiance and The Aro Corporation in Bryan. A Vietnam War veteran, serving in the U.S. Marines as a Lance Cpl., he was a member of the Antwerp VFW Post 5087.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his mother and stepfather, Marguerite and Paul Traxler of Hicksville; a daughter, Heather Quintanilla of Antwerp; sons, Shane of Payne and James of Paulding; six grandchildren; and a sister, Diana McCalla of Safety Harbor, Fla. He was preceded in death by his father.
Visitation will be held Sunday from 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. and Monday at 10 a.m. in the Dooley Funeral Home in Antwerp.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Ted Ramey to officiate. Burial will be at Maumee Cemetery, Antwerp, with military honors performed by the Antwerp VFW Post 5087.
Memorials may be made to Big Horn Baptist Church, Big Horn, Mont., or to the Woodburn Children's Home, Woodburn, Ind.
Florence M. Schoonover
(1909 - 2004)
EDGERTON - Florence M. Schoonover, 94, of Edgerton and formerly of rural Butler, Ind., died early Thursday, June 3, 2004, at Park View Nursing Center in Edgerton, where she was a resident.
Born Oct. 30, 1909, at Florence Township near Edon, to Grace (Connolly) and Homer Zeiter, she married Harley Schoonover on Sept. 3, 1930, at Defiance, and he preceded her in death on April 14, 2000.
A homemaker, she was a member of New Hope Christian Center in Waterloo, Ind. Surviving is a son, Jim Schoonover of Barnhart, Mo.; 25 grandchildren; more than 25 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Walter (Janet) Bennett of Montpelier and Mrs. Jerry (Ruth) Hamman of Kendallville, Ind.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers; a sister; four grandchildren; a daughter, Jane Ball; and a son, Herbert Schoonover.
Visitation will be held Saturday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. ( Ohio time) in the Krill Funeral Home in Edgerton.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. ( Ohio time) in the funeral home with Pastor Ralph Diehl to officiate. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Edgerton.
Memorials may be made to the New Hope Christian Center in Waterloo, Ind.
Richard A. Rath
(1910 - 2004)
Richard A. Rath, 93, of Bryan, died early Thursday, June 3, 2004, at Evergreen Manor Nursing Home in Montpelier.
Born Oct. 1, 1910, at Defiance County, to Catherine (Liska) and Samuel Rath, he married Retha Pearce in 1933, and she preceded him in death in 1996.
A farmer, he was a former member of the Ney High School Board of Education, a former director of the Ney Elevator Board and a former member of the Farm Bureau of Defiance County. He attended the Ney Church of God.
Surviving are two sons, Don Rath of Bryan and Allen Rath of New Berlin, Wis.; a daughter, Mrs. Terry (Joyce) Taylor of Bryan; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one stepgrandchild; two stepgreat-grandchildren; and a brother, Leonard Rath of Bryan.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, George, Virgil, Earl, Wilbur and Robert Rath; three sisters, Eleanor Sohnly, Martha Gallagher and Marie Bishop; a granddaughter; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Monday from 12:30-3 p.m. in the Ney Church of God.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 3 p.m. in the church with the Rev. Douglas Nolt to officiate. Burial will be in the Ney Cemetery, Defiance County.
Memorials may be made to the Ney Church of God or to an organization of the donor's choice. Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Luella M. (Andrews) Storch
(1922 - 2004)
NAPOLEON - Luella M. (Andrews) Storch, 82, of Napoleon, died late Tuesday evening, June 1, 2004, at the Toledo Hospital.
Born May 31, 1922, at Freedom Township, to Emma (Rickenberg) and Herman Norden, she married Richard Storch on July 7, 1994, and he survives in Napoleon.
She had been employed at the Napoleon Products for 48 years and had also been employed at the Napoleon VFW and was a home healthcare provider for five years.
A member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Napoleon, she was also a member of the Wauseon American Legion Auxiliary. She was a life member of the Wauseon VFW Auxiliary as well as the Napoleon Moose Lodge No. 788.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Ron (and wife, Jean) Andrews of South Lyon, Mich.; a daughter, Carol Feehan of Stryker; and three grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were a brother, Lewis Norden and sisters, Ida Gerken, Leona Holzer and Laura Solt.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Riverview Memory Gardens, Defiance, in the Cemetery Mausoleum. The Rev. Norm Koy is to officiate. Burial will follow in the cemetery.
