Violet Mae Lake, 48, of Cookeville, Tenn., died Thursday, Dec. 9, 1999, in Cookeville Regional Hospital. Arrangements are pending at the Turner-Engle Funeral Home.

Herman Von Blon Egbert
Seneca County farmer

Herman Von Blon Egbert, 87, a resident of Autumnwood Care Center, died at 3:35 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11, 1999, in Mercy Hospital of Tiffin.

He was born April 17, 1912, in rural Green Springs, to William Holtz and Mary Von Blon Egbert. He had never married .

Three sisters, Julia, Hilda and Frieda Egbert, also are deceased.

Mr. Egbert, a life-time Seneca County resident and a veteran of World War II, had been employed as a farmer.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Pleasant Ridge (Egberts') cemetery. Military graveside services will be conducted by the chaplain of the United Veterans Council.

There will be no visitation. The Turner-Engle Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Sibyl Somers Nelson
Former United Airlines accountant

Sibyl Somers Nelson, 90, formerly of Louisiana and Vickery, died Sunday, Dec. 12, 1999, in the Lutheran Memorial Home, Sandusky.

She was born in Saline County, Ill., Nov. 18, 1909, to William and Agnes (Murphy) Somers. On Nov. 24, 1939, she married Wilfred John Nelson. He died May 19, 1969.

Survivors include: a son, Paul W. Nelson, of Vickery; two grandchildren, Tammy Dreiling and Kitty Merten, both of California; and four great-grandchildren.

Also preceding her in death were three sisters, Opal Sanford, Jewel Somers and Velma Swanson; and five brothers, Byron, Howard, Hobert, Randall and Fred Somers.

Mrs. Nelson, who received her education in Illinois, had been employed as an accountant for United Airlines.

She was a member of the Women's Society of Christian Service and Townsend Township Sunshine Farm Women's Club.

The Rev. Duane Dunfee will be the officiant at the 10:30 a.m. service today in the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, Clyde. Interment will be in Forest Park cemetery, Shreveport, La.

Visitation at the funeral home is an hour prior to the service today.

Memorials may be made to the Lutheran Memorial Home, 795 Bardshard Road, Sandusky, OH 44870.

Frances E. Schumm
St. Francis Home resident

Frances E. Schumm, 80, 182 St. Francis Ave., died Monday, Dec. 13, 1999, in St. Francis Home. Arrangements are pending at the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home.

Benjamin Fogleman
Former Tiffin resident

Benjamin Fogleman, 80, of Hilton Head Island, S.C., formerly of Tiffin, died Saturday, Dec. 11, 1999, in the Hilton Head Medical Center and Clinics.

He was born Feb. 17, 1919, in Toledo, to Claude A. Fogleman and Lily Parnell.

Survivors include his wife, Thelma Richardson Fogleman; two sons, Stephen D. and Richard D. Fogleman, both of Hilton Head Island; a daughter, Karen Kurtzrock of Pittsburgh, Pa.; a sister, Mary Sessons-Olsen of Tiffin; and three grandchildren.

The former president and founder of Fogleman Co. Inc., in 1951, in Pittsburgh, he was a graduate of Heidelberg College and received his MBA from Harvard University.

A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the South Pacific, Mr. Fogleman was an active member of the Instrument Society of America and recipient of the National I.S.A. Distinguished Society Service Award.

An avid golfer, he enjoyed fishing and had served as a former deacon at the Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church. He moved to Hilton Head Island in September 1998 from Pittsburgh.

A memorial service will be at a later date.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 2500 North Reynolds Road, Toledo, OH 43615-2820. The Island Funeral Home, Hilton Head Island, is in charge of arrangements.

Anna Louise Scholl
Toledo Molding/Die retiree

Anna Louise Scholl, 68, formerly of 174 Jackson St., died at 8:35 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 12, 1999, in Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center, Findlay.

She was born in Tiffin, Jan. 6, 1931, to the late Clarence and Olga (Houck) Tiell. Her husband, Bernard Scholl, whom she married Feb. 5, 1955, in Coronado, Calif., survives.

Other survivors include: two sons, Daniel and John Scholl, both of Tiffin; four daughters, Maryanne Baker, Jane Scholl and Mrs. Robert (Theresa) Distel, all of Tiffin, and Joan Scholl of Taos, N.M.; two brothers, Louis Tiell of Littleton, Colo., and Howard Tiell of Tiffin; a sister, Mrs. Ray (Dorothy) Kopp of Tiffin; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A sister, Margaret Gaietto; and three brothers, Frederick, Thomas and Bernard Tiell, also are deceased.

Mrs. Scholl, a 1950 Calvert High School graduate, retired in 1989 as a press operator after 15 years of service from Toledo Molding and Die.

She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church.

A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Mary Catholic Church, with the Rev. Frank Murd as celebrant. The rosary will be recited at the church at 9:45 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic cemetery.

Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at the Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home, where a wake service will be at 3:45.

Memorials may be made to Community Hospice Care, the American Diabetes Foundation or the Ruffing Family Care Center Activities Department.

Jami Lynn Cassidy
Wolph Title office manager

Jami Lynn Cassidy, 43, died at 5:26 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11, 1999, at her residence at 611 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria.

She was born in Fostoria, March 7, 1956, to James R. and Georgia Mae (Pohlman) Fleming. Her father and stepmother, Arlene E. Fleming, survive in Fremont. On July 27, 1974, in West Independence United Methodist Church, she married Terry G. Cassidy. He survives.

Survivors also include: two daughters, Carri M. Cassidy of Toledo and Amy J. Cassidy, at home; a brother, Jeffrey L. Fleming of Gibsonburg; a stepbrother, Devin S. Needles of Marion; three sisters, Mrs. Jack (Jenni L.) Chalfin of Perrysburg, Mrs. Tom (Janine S.) Kitchen of Fostoria and Jodi A. Fleming of Oak Harbor.

Her mother is deceased.

Mrs. Cassidy, a 1974 graduate of Fostoria High School, was employed as office manager at Wolph Title Inc., Fostoria and formerly worked at the State Home Savings, Fostoria and Bowling Green.

She was a member of the West Independence United Methodist Church.

The Rev. Jeffrey A. Raker will conduct the 11 a.m. Wednesday service in the West Independence United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Memory Gardens, near Arcadia.

Visitation at the church will be noon-2 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. today and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.

The Coldren-Crates Funeral Home, Findlay, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the West Independence United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.

Melinda L. Miller
Fostoria homemaker

Melinda L. Miller, 41, of 250 E. Fremont St., Fostoria, died at 4:57 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11, 1999, in Fostoria Community Hospital.

She was born in Steubenville May 14, 1958, to the late Paul and Naomi (Dowdy) Hardesty. Her husband, Richard A. Miller, who she married in the Freewill Baptist Church, Fostoria, survives in Fostoria.

A brother, Paul L. Hardesty of Tiffin, also survives.

Mrs. Miller was a homemaker.

Services and visitation will be private.

Memorials may be made to the family, in care of the Mann-Hare Funeral Home, 407 N. Countyline St., Fostoria, OH 44830, which is in charge of arrangements.

Staci J. Billings
RN/Bethseda nursing director

Staci J. Billings, 30, of East Maple Street, Clyde, died Sunday, Dec. 12, 1999, in Providence Hospital, Sandusky.

She was born in Toledo, Aug. 19, 1969. Her father and mother, Thomas and Marion (Frey) Bower, survive in Fremont. Her biological mother, Mrs. Jeff (Pam) Robison and her husband survive in Bellevue. On Aug. 31, 1991, she married Michael J. Billings, who also survives.

Other survivors include: two daughters, Stephanie L. and Lisa M. Billings, both at home; three half sisters, Danielle Buathier of Huron, Dusti Bellitto of Port Clinton and Brandi Robison of Bellevue; a brother, Steven T. Bower of Green Springs; her maternal grandmother, Mary Frey of Clyde; paternal grandparents, Richard and Arline Bower of Fremont; and her biological grandmother, Marylou Barish.

Mrs. Billings, a 1987 graduate of Clyde High School and a 1991 graduate of Capital University, where she received her RNBSN, was a registered nurse employed as director of nursing at Bethseda Care Center, Fremont.

A life-time resident of the Clyde area, she was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Fremont, where she was the Kids of the Kingdom choir director; member of the senior choir and was in the Friendship Ministry.

Services in Grace Lutheran Church, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, with the Rev. Joel Remmers officiating. Interment will be in McPherson cemetery.

Visitation at the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, Clyde, is 7-9 p.m. today and noon-9 p.m. Wednesday.

Memorials may be made to Grace Lutheran Church, West State Street, Fremont.

Stephen T. Korosy
Retired police officer

Stephen T. Korosy, 60, died at 2 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 11, 1999, at his home at 125 N. 4th St., Upper Sandusky.

He was born Dec. 25, 1938, in Alliance, to Steve Korosy and Margaret M. Duruttya. His mother survives in Upper Sandusky.

Also surviving are a daughter, Ragan Korosy of Columbus; a granddaughter; and three sisters, Mrs. Merle (Sarah) Jackman of Upper Sandusky, Mrs. Dan (Rosine) Trieff of Indianapolis, Ind. and Mrs. George (Margie) Biddle of Bradenton, Fla.

His father preceded her in death.

Mr. Korosy, who was affiliated with the Catholic faith, retired as a police officer, having worked in Indianapolis, Ind., and Salineville, Ohio.

A graduate of Alliance High School, he attended Kent State University for three years.

He served as director of the Police Athletic League in Indianapolis as well as on the boxing committee of the National Police Athletic League.

Final interment will be in Fairmont cemetery, Alliance.

Private family services were in the Bringman-Clark and Company Funeral Home, Upper Sandusky.

Memorials may be made to P.O.W. Youth Athletic Gym, Upper Sandusky, in care of the Bringman-Clark and Company Funeral Home, 226 E. Wyandot Ave., Box 246, Upper Sandusky, OH 43351.

Joan D. Fox
Native of Tiffin

Joan D. Fox, 64, of 545 N. Warpole St., Upper Sandusky, died late in the evening Saturday, Dec. 11, 1999, in the emergency room of the Metro Health Medical Center, Cleveland.

She was born in Tiffin Sept. 19, 1935, to James W. and Ruth A. (Newell) Johnson. Her mother survives in Upper Sandusky. Her husband, Thomas P. Fox, whom she married Nov. 10, 1962, in St. Peter's Rectory, also survives.

Survivors also include: a brother, James M. Johnson of Upper Sandusky; four nieces and five nephews.

Her father is deceased.

Mrs. Fox, with her husband, operated the Newell-Johnson Insurance Agency, where she had worked for the past 46 years.

A 1953 Upper Sandusky High School graduate, she was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church and its Catholic Ladies of Columbia; Beta Chapter of Tri Sigma Sorority and served on the citizen of the year committee as the sorority's representative.

She also served as secretary/treasurer of the Friends of the Library; delivered books from the library to area nursing homes; was instrumental in organizing knitters and crocheters to make baby clothes for premature babies. Along with her husband, she delivered these clothes to hospitals in Upper Sandusky, Tiffin, Findlay, Marion, Toledo, Cleveland and Columbus.

Her hobbies included collecting Hummels, painting ceramics, knitting and decorating her home for seasonal occasions.

The Rev. James Holmer will be the celebrant at the 11 a.m. Thursday Memorial Mass in St. Peter's Catholic Church, Upper Sandusky. The body will be cremated.

Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Lucas Funeral Home, Upper Sandusky, where a Christian wake service will be at 8:45.

Memorials may be made to the Upper Sandusky Library.

Louis Glen Mohr
Retired bank assistant manager

Louis Glen Mohr, 79, of Timpe Road, Fremont, died Sunday, Dec. 12, 1999, in Bethesda Care Center, Fremont.

He was born in Tiffin Sept. 21, 1920, to Glen O. and Catherine (Crist) Mohr. On Nov. 27, 1947, in St. Mary Church, Tiffin, he married Loretta A. Ardner. She survives in Fremont.

Also surviving are a son, Michael J. Mohr of Fremont; a daughter, Sue A. Small of Newark, Del.; a brother, Robert J. Mohr of Apache-Junction, Ariz.; two sisters, Betty J. Molnar of Port Clinton and Vivian M. Molnar of Mesa, Ariz.; five grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Two brothers, Ralph and John Paul Mohr, also are deceased.

Mr. Mohr, a 1939 graduate of Columbian High School and a 1947 graduate of Tiffin University, retired as assistant manager from the City Loan Bank in Fremont, after 25 years of employment.

A World War II U.S. Army veteran, he served in Northern France, Rhineland and the Central Europe Theaters. He was awarded a Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Service Medal and European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with three Bronze Stars.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Fremont.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Wonderly-Horvath Funeral Home, Fremont, with the Rev. Mark Herzog officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph cemetery, Fremont, where military graveside services will be provided by the VFW and American Legion.

Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home, where a vigil service will be at 8:30.

Memorials may be made to the Sacred Heart Building Fund.
