Glen E. Parker
General Motors retiree

Glen E. Parker, 70, of West Leipsic, died at 3:48 p.m. Friday, Dec. 17, 1999, in Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus.

He was born June 26, 1929, in Willard, to Fred and Mable (Lepard) Parker.

Survivors include: four sons, Mike Parker of Leipsic, Douglas Parker of Beaumont, Texas, Randy Parker of California and Jerry Parker of Norfolk, Va.; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Allen Parker of Auburn, Wash.; and two sisters, Velma Corbin of Shelby and Mrs. Richard (Myra) Jenkins of Norwalk.

Two brothers, Ralph and Earl Parker, and two sisters, Esther Morland and Amy Jean Parker, are also deceased.

Mr. Parker, an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, retired from General Motors in Defiance after 19 years of service.

He was a member of Leipsic United Methodist Church and the Tiffin Eagles.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Leipsic United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Mary Bushong officiating. Burial will be in Sugar Ridge cemetery, Leipsic.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Love Funeral Home, Leipsic, and 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church until time of the service.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Lt. James E. Maye
Maye Super Market owner

Lt. James E. Maye, 88, of Sandusky CR 262, Clyde, died Saturday, Dec. 18, 1999, in the Arbors of Clyde.

He was born in Sipes Mill, Pa., Jan. 6, 1911, to Ralph H. and Delpha R. (Truax) Maye. His wife, Janet (Oswald) Maye, whom he married July 5, 1941, died March 26, 1999.

Survivors include: three sons, Leigh, Jean and Noel A. Maye, all of Clyde; a sister, Virginia Earick of Tiffin; and a brother, John Maye of Maple Heights.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Howard, Harold and Neal Maye; and two sisters, Ruth Maye and Ella Yaichner.

Mr. Maye, a 1929 graduate of Republic High School, had been employed as a truck driver for 25 years. He also was the owner of Maye Super Market in Republic for four years and worked as a carrier for the Bellevue Gazette for 16 years.

A member of the Methodist Church, Republic, and an associate member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, rural Clyde, he served in the U.S. Army Medical 77th Evac. Hospital in the European Theatre and in the Normandy Invasion.

The Rev. Mark Reep and the Rev. David Vensel will be the co-officiants at the 10 a.m. Tuesday service in Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church. Interment will be in McPherson cemetery, Clyde, where military graveside services will be provided by the Clyde American Legion and VFW.

Visitation will be 4-9 p.m. Monday in the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, Clyde.

Memorials may be made to the Kitchen Fund at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church

June V. Martin
Retired electrician

June V. Martin, 74, of 560 Lynn St., Fostoria, died at 2:26 p.m. Friday, Dec. 17, 1999, in Fostoria Community Hospital.

She was born Aug. 27, 1925, in Blackfork, Ohio, to Herman and Mildred (Keels) Long. Her husband, Willie L. Martin, whom she married Dec. 1, 1956, in Fostoria, survives in Fostoria.

Other survivors include: two sons, Clarence V. Harris and Brian L. Martin, both of Fostoria; a brother, Bobby Long of Lexington, Ky.; four sisters, Audrey E. Tyler of Fostoria, Barbara Carter of Chillicothe, Marva Gordon and Elsie Howell, both of Columbus; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Also preceding her in death were three brothers, Herman and Billy Long and Don Russell; and a sister, Lucy Keels.

Mrs. Martin, a member of the Union Baptist Church, Blackfork, retired in 1988 as an electrician from Fostoria Industries, where she had been employed for 24 years.

The Rev. K.C. Marsenburg will be the officiant at the 11 a.m. Wednesday service in the Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria. Interment will be in Fountain cemetery, Fostoria.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the church.

Frederick D. Lemke
Former Heidelberg teacher/academic dean

Frederick D. Lemke, 96, of Watertown, Wisc., died Friday, Dec. 17, 1999, in Watertown Memorial Hospital, following a brief illness.

He was born Aug. 6, 1903, in Wabasha, Minn, to the Rev. F.W. and Ruth (Hauser) Lemke.

Survivors include: a sister, Ruth Lemke of Watertown; two brothers, Victor Lemke of Tampa, Fla. and Arthur A. Lemke of Evanston, Ill.; a niece and other relatives.

Mr. Lemke, who graduated valedictorian from Watertown High School in 1921, also graduated from the University of Wisconsin with honors in 1925; was elected Phi Beta Kapa, earned his masters degree in English from the University of. Wisconsin-Madison in 1926 and later earned his PhD at the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana.

He taught at Heidelberg College 1931-74 and during that time he had been the Academic Dean for 24 years and acting president for a year. At the age of 70 he received an honorary degree from Heidelberg College. While living in Tiffin he was a member of the Evangelical and Reformed United Church of Christ.

A member of the PALS of Watertown, he was an avid reader and spent many hours at the Watertown Public Library

He regularly attended several local churches and sang in the church choir for many years.

After his retirement, he did a lot of traveling and enjoyed playing the piano..

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Pederson Funeral Homes, 213 S. Fifth St., Watertown, with the Rev. Richard Heins officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill cemetery, Watertown.

Visitation will be after 10 a.m. Tuesday until time of the service at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Heidelberg College or the Watertown Public Library.

Ruby L. Hensel
Marseilles Township homemaker

Ruby L. Hensel, 89, a long-time Marseilles Township resident, formerly of Dunkirk, died at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 19, 1999, in the Baldwin Manor, Kenton.

She was born April 16, 1910, in Hardin County, to Edward and Georgia (Shannon) Miller. On June 20, 1927, in Dunkirk, she married William H. "Hank" Hensel, who died March 29, 1972.

Surviving are: three sons, William G. Hensel of Marion, Richard M. Hensel of Upper Sandusky and Lauren K. Hensel of Marseilles; a daughter, Mrs. Dick (Wanda) Reel of Clinton, Mich.; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Also preceding her in death were a daughter, Doris Jean; two grandchildren; three sisters and two brothers.

Mrs. Hensel, a homemaker, was a member of Marseilles United Methodist Church. Prior to that she was a member of the former McKindree Methodist Church.

She enjoyed watching and feeding birds, baking and making noodles.

The Rev. Kevin Pees will be the officiant at the 1:30 p.m. Wednesday service in the Bringman-Clark and Company Funeral Home, Upper Sandusky. Burial will be in McKindree cemetery, Goshen Township, Hardin County.

Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Marseilles United Methodist Church or a charity of the donor's choice.

The Rev. Carl F. Minter
Sycamore native

The Rev. Carl F. Minter, 74,of Dola, died at 9:35 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 19, 1999, in Hardin Memorial Hospital.

He was born June 5, 1925, in Sycamore, to Paul and Gertrude (Schlief) Minter. His wife, Dorothy Mae (Geary) Minter, whom he married July 6, 1947, in Seneca County, survives in Dola.

Other survivors include: a daughter, Mrs. James (Sharon) Nold of North Carolina; two sons, Terry Minter of Dola and Roger Minter of Washington State; seven grandchildren and a great-granddaughter; a sister, Marjorie Pummel of Lima; and six nieces and nephews.

A brother, Richard; and a sister, Eileen Brown, also are deceased.

A retired United Methodist minister, Rev. Minter, in his 41 years in the ministry, served in the communities of Eldorado, Lockington, Oakwood, Van Buren, Delta, Walnut Grove, Fremont Trinity, Woodville, Wellston and Columbus Grove, retiring in 1990. During his retirement he served at Dola Presbyterian and Trinity United Methodist Church in Dunkirk.

He was a member of Walnut Grove United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge of Dunkirk and the Hardin County Men's Garden Club.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Walnut Grove United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Tom Hite and the Rev. Marion Hanover as co-officiants. Interment will be in Pleasant View cemetery, Sycamore.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at the Price Funeral Home, Kenton.

Memorials may be made to Walnut Grove United Methodist Church.

Laurel Ann Van Sickle
Former Fostoria resident

Laurel Ann Van Sickle, 57, formerly of Fostoria, died at 4:49 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 18, 1999, at her residence at 5161 Eppino Lane, Zephyrhills, Fla.

She was born Dec. 26, 1941, in Napoleon, to Bruce Theobald Sr. who survives in Fostoria and the late Mary Arline (Boyher) Theobald. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Richard Van Sickle.

Survivors also include: two sons, Andrew Van Sickle of Zephyrhills and Scott Van Sickle of Temple Terrace, Fla.; and a brother, Bruce Theobald Jr. of Port Clinton.

Mrs. Van Sickle was employed as a social worker at the VA hospital in Tampa, Fla.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Fountain cemetery, Fostoria, with the Rev. R. Edson Reed of the First Presbyterian Church, Fostoria, officiating.

Visitation will be 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Friday at the Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria.

Memorials may be made to a local Hospice organization.

Martin H. 'Bud' Groman Jr.
Former Tiffin resident

Martin H. "Bud" Groman Jr., 76, formerly of Tiffin, died Sunday evening, Dec. 19, 1999, in Springfield.

He was born Oct. 16, 1923, in Tiffin, to Martin H. Sr. and Lottie (Oberlin) Groman. His wife, Ruth (Miller) Groman survives.

Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. Karl (Millie) Cramer of Fostoria; and a nephew.

He also was preceded in death by two sisters.

Mr. Groman, a retired truck driver, was a member of Selma Worship Center, Springfield.

Graveside services will be at noon Wednesday in the Mansfield Memorial Park, with Pastor Joyce Bailey officiating.

The LIttleton and Rue Funeral Home, Springfield, is in charge of arrangements.

David A. Cornicelli
Brother of Tiffin resident

David A. Cornicelli, 36, of 197 N. Main St., Oberlin, where he had lived for the past five years, died at 1:54 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 19, 1999, in Lake West Hospital, Willoughby, following a three-year battle with cancer.

He was born Dec. 3, 1963, in Warren, to Samuel F. Sr. and Mildred 'Millie' (Hiynny) Cornicelli. His mother survives in Warren. He was divorced.

Other survivors include: a brother, Dr. Samuel F. Cornicelli Jr. of Tiffin; a sister, Dr. Diane Cornicelli-Scott of Mentor; several nieces; and a special friend, Ember N. Deitz of New York, N.Y.

His father is deceased.

Mr. Cornicelli, a 1982 graduate of Warren JFK High School and a 1986 graduate of Hiram College with a bachelor's degree in history, was a member of the rugby and tennis teams. Also while at Hiram he organized "Operation Rice Bowl" which encouraged students to skip a meal with the proceeds donated to the Cleveland Soup Kitchen.

In 1988 he received his master's degree in urban studies from Akron University. For the last year he was employed as EcoVillage project manager for Detroit Shoreway Community Development. Org. in Cleveland . For his outstanding work at the EcoVillage he was appointed by Ohio Gov. Robert Taft to the Public Benefits Advisory Board of Ohio. He also was the educational project coordinator for the 7th Generation Environmental Group to clean up the Black River in Lorain, which was coordinated through Oberlin College, where he had taught environmental study courses for two years.

He also had been the economic development officer for the City of Oberlin.

He enjoyed photography, the outdoors, nature, camping, canoeing and cycling and in 1989 he climbed Mt. Katahdin, located at the end of the Appalachian Trail. He also was an accomplished macrobiotic chef and guitarist and had written poetry and music.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. Pius X Catholic Church, Warren.

Visitation is 5-7 p.m. today at the Peter Rossi and Son Memorial Chapel, Warren, and one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church.

Roscoe Row
National Lime/Stone retiree

Roscoe Row, 75, of 609 Fairlane Drive, Carey, died at 1:15 a.m. Monday, Dec. 20, 1999, in the Eaglewood Care Center, Carey.

He was born in Magoffin County, Ky., Nov. 8, 1924, to Raleigh and Maudie (Dyer) Row. On Nov. 4, 1944, in Covington, Ky., he married Marilynn M. Beard. She survives.

Survivors also include: five children, Dianne Bloom, Verner Row, Kathy Tharp, Roscoe "Rocky" Row and Sandra "Sandy" Reinhart, all of Carey; 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Lorane Coldiron of Vanlue and Tris Billock of Carey.

Five brothers, Orville, Arba, Randy, W.B. and an infant Arnold Row; an infant daughter, Phyllis Jean Row; and two sisters, Ora Owens and an infant Avery Row, also are deceased.

Mr. Row, a member of the Baptist faith, retired from the National Lime and Stone Co., Carey, March 1, 1987, after 20 years. Prior to that he worked 22 years at the former Swann Rubber Co., also in Carey.

A World War II U.S. Army veteran, he was a member of American Legion Post 344, Carey.

The Rev. Paul W. DeMoss will conduct the 1 p.m. Wednesday service in the Stombaugh Memorial Funeral Home, Carey. Burial will be in Spring Grove cemetery, Carey.

Visitation is 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
