Edith E. Scribner 03/09/2003

Edith E. Scribner, age 90, formerly of Cardington died Sunday morning March 9, 2003 at the Morning View Care Center in Centerburg. She was born August 12, 1912 in Morrow County to the late Leroy and Martha ìMattieî E. ( Schreckengaust ) Foust.

Edith had been a lifelong Cardington resident and was a member of the Saint Paul Lutheran Church. She had also been a member of the Gleaners Class at the Westfield United Methodist Church.

Survivors include step-children ; Terry Long of Findlay, Wilma and Arthur Kinsell of Mount Gilead, Willis and Evelyn Long of Cardington ; Joann and Lester Scribner both of California ; grandchildren ; great-grandchildren ; a sister Martha Stoner of Okeechobee, FL. and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Edith was preceded in death by a stepson, Foster Long and siblings; Arthur, Everett, Lloyd, Earl, and Ivan Foust, and Annabel Beckel.

Friends may call Wednesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the Gompf Funeral Home in Cardington where the funeral service will be held Thursday morning at 11:00 AM. Pastor Donald Lockwood will officiate and the burial will be in the Glendale Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Morning View Care Center Activity Fund, 4531 Columbus Road, Centerburg, OH. 43011.

Tammy L. Boring 03/08/2003

Tammy L. Boring, age 33, of Lorain, died Saturday, March 8, 2003 in Lorain. She was born in Marion, May 19, 1969 to Stephen R. Boring of Colorado Springs, CO and Louise A (Bannister) Vaught of Delaware. In addition to her parents, her step-father, John Vaught survives in Delaware.

Other survivors include three children, Joseph Wagner of Chippawa Lake, Alexander Galvin and Samantha Galvin both of Medina; siblings, Stephen Boring of Colorado Springs, CO, Brian Vaught, Julie Miley, and Sean Billips all of Marion, Keri Banik of Glouster, Darren Vaught of Cardington, Jason Vaught of Hawaii, and Kristi Vaught and Jessica Vaught both of Westerville.

Friends may call on Thursday, March 20, 2003 between 4PM-7PM at Gompf Funeral Home in Cardington.

Michael E. Gilles 03/07/2003

Michael E. Gilles, age 54, of Cardington, Oh., died Mar. 7,2003 as a result of an automobile accident. He was born Nov. 28, 1948 in Wheeling, WV. to Eugene and Lillian ( Oberg ) Gilles. His father is deceased, but his mother survives in Moundsville, WV.

He was a 1966 graduate of Moundsville H.S. and worked at Automated Tooling Systems, Lewis Center.

Survivors include his wife, Linda J. ( Gatts ) Gilles, who he married June 21, 1969 in Moundsville ; children, Marie Gilles and Michelle Vanover both of Cardington, Jessica Gilles of Reynoldsburg, and Jeremy Gilles of Pitttsburg, PA. ; grandchildren, Jacob, Jared, Dustin, and Cynthia ; siblings, Susan and Delbert Wade, Gary and Sharon Gilles, and Beth and Tom Geho all of Moundsville, WV.

Friends may call Sun. 6-8 PM and Mon. 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the GOMPF FUNERAL HOME in Cardington where the funeral service will be held on Tues. at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in Fulton Cemetery with Pastor Jeff Grant officiating.

Wanda M. Cole 02/24/2003

Wanda M. Cole, age 67, of West Main St., Cardington died early Monday morning, February 24, 2003 at her residence. She was born June 7, 1935 in Edison, OH to the late Andrew John and Myrtle Loree (Rush) Clark.

Wanda was a 1953 graduate of Marengo High School. She had worked at North Electric Company, Morrow County Hospital as nurseís aide and most recently at T. R. Residential Homes.

Survivors include 4 sons, David U. Clark and Randy S. Cole of both Crosby, TX, John M. Mclain of Marion, OH, and Keith A. Mclain of Nevada, OH; a sister, Anita J. Talent of Concrete, Washington and Paul H. Clark of Cardington. 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents Wanda was preceded in death by brothers, Allen E., Glenn U. and James A. Clark.

Friends may call at Gompf Funeral Home in Cardington Wednesday, February 26, 2003 from 2-8PM where funeral services will be held Thursday at 1:30PM. Reverend John  Jackson will officiate and burial will be in Marengo Cemetery.

Robert W. Freeman 02/24/2003

Robert W. Freeman, age 73, of Marion-Williamsport Road, Caledonia died early Monday morning, February 24, 2003 at his residence. He was born in Marion June 6, 1929 to the late Fred C. and Frances H. (Bowles) Freeman.

Robert was a 1949 graduate of Harding High School. He had served in the US Army from 1950 to 1952. He was employed in TV sales and service and as a tool and die maker. Robert was also a dedicated a full time father.

On June 19, 1955 in Marion, Ohio Robert married the former Ruby Hanson who survives in Caledonia.

In addition to his wife Robert is survived by 5 sons; Robert Alan, Fred C., Ray E. and Michael J. Freeman all of Caledonia, David L. Freeman of Cardington; 3 daughters, Barbara Bayles of Edison, Michelle Gattshall of Caledonia and Diana Beccard of Modesto, CA; 4 sisters, Mary Persinger and Reba Noe of Marion, Jeanne Peifer of Columbus, Alfreda Lane of Upper Sandusky; a brother Alfred Freeman of Caledonia; and 11 grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by one brother; Eugene Freeman.

Friends may call at Gompf Funeral Home in Cardington on Wednesday, February 26, 2003 from 2-4PM and 6-8PM where funeral services will be held Thursday, February 27, 2003 at 11AM. Reverend David Aiken will officiate and burial will be in Glendale Cemetery.

Lorna Edith Whalen 02/24/2003

Lorna Edith Whalen, age 70, of Twp. Rd. 15, Centerburg died Sunday, February 23, 2003, in the emergency room at Morrow County Hospital. She was born July 17, 1932 in Ross County to the late Arthur J. and Jestie (Adams) Large.

In St. Petersburg, Florida on February 21, 1980 she married M. Ralph Whalen Jr. and he survives in Centerburg.

Lorna is also survived by 5 daughters; Louise Damron of Jenkins, Kentucky, Luella Sue Copeland of Sarasota, FL, Lova Marie Fisher of Marengo Loretta Jean Copeland of Cardington, and Laura Margraff of Marion; 2 sons; Herbert Parsons, Jr. of Marengo and Cecil Parsons of Columbus; 4 sisters; Alkie Evans and JoElla Pennington both of Ashley, Alice Kazoon of Laughlin, NV and Shirley Knapp of Ashville; twin brother, Lawrence Large of Grove City and brother, Arnold Large of Columbus; 24 grandchildren and many great and great-great grandchildren.

Friends may call at Gompf Funeral Home in Cardington on Tuesday, February 25, 2003 from 5-8PM where the funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11AM with Pastor Mike Pruett officiating. Burial will be in Bloomfield Cemetery.
