Paul E. Krintzline
Father of Tiffin resident

Paul E. Krintzline, 86, died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2000, at his home in Eaton.

He was born July 28, 1913, in Eaton, to George W. and Myrtle L. (Hedges) Krintzline, and lived all his life in Preble and Montgomery Counties. His wife, Norma I. (Thomas) Krintzline, whom he married Jan. 4, 1941, survives.

Survivors also include: a son, Donald E. Krintzline of Tiffin; a daughter, Linda S. McMechan of Eaton; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert Krintzline of Eaton; and nieces and nephews.

Also preceding him in death were a brother, Orville Krintzline; and three sisters, Doris Davis, Mary Pippin and Cora Krintzline.

A retired contracting officer for the Department of Defense, Mr. Krintzline served in the U.S. Amry during World War II.

He was a member of the American Legion, Trinity Lutheran Church, Brookville, attended Eaton Church of the Brethren; and was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Girton-Schmidt-Boucher Funeral Home, 226 W. Main St., Eaton, with the Rev. William O. Schwochow officiating. Burial will be in Mound Hill Union cemetery, Eaton, where military graveside services will be conducted by the Preble County Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Raymond A. Holm
Retired N&W machinist/farmer

Raymond A. Holm, 90, of 150 South SR 4, Attica, died Thursday morning, Feb. 3, 2000, at Hillside Acres Nursing Home in Willard. He was born Feb. 13, 1909, in Omar to John and Bernice (Kentfield) Holm. On Oct. 4, 1947, in Attica he married Janice L. Senn. She survives.

Also surviving are: three sons, Douglas Holm of Crestline, Charles Holm of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Denny Holm of Attica; two daughters, Mrs. Hannah Derr of Kenton and Mrs. Patricia Harper of Kent; 10 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Four brothers, Harold, Vinton, Perry and Ward Holm, and three sisters, Winfred Pratt and twin sisters Ruth and Rachel Holm, are deceased.

Mr. Holm was a farmer and also worked as a machinist for the N&W Railroad in Bellevue for many years, retiring in 1975.

He was a member of the Attica United Methodist Church and a 1928 graduate of the Attica High School. Memberships included: Machinist Union of the N&W Railroad; Omar Chapel Association and the sexton of the Omar cemetery for many years; a 65-year member and past master of Attica Lodge 367 F&AM; past worthy patron of Sappho Chapter OES; and the Zenobia Temple A.A.O.N.M.S. of Toledo.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Attica United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Thom Kalb, and Malcolm Brookes officiating. Burial will be in Omar cemetery, Attica.

Visitation will be 2:30-4:30 and 7-9 p.m. today at the Lindsey-Olds Funeral Home, 3085 South SR. 19, Bloomville. Attica Lodge 367 will conduct Masonic services at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Seneca East Public Library or to the Attica United Methodist Church.

Terry J. Hempfling
Wyandot County ounselor

Terry J. Hempfling, 49, of 715 West St., Carey, formerly of Delphos, died at 1:55 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2000, following a brief illness. He was born April 23, 1950, to Herbert J. Hempfling and Mary A. Beining. Both survive in Delphos. On July 29, 1978, he married Agnes "Aggie" McCormick in Lima at St. Gerard Catholic Church. She survives.

Other survivors include: a son, Matthew J. Hempfling at home; a daughter, Sarah M. at home; a brother, Jack A. Hempfling of Mt. Morris, N.Y.; two sisters, Judith A. Hempfling of Yellow Springs and Mrs. Mary Lou Pohlman of Delphos.

Mr. Hempfling was in partnership with George J. Sakash at the Wyandot Counseling Association in Upper Sandusky, providing counseling services to the Wyandot County area. Also a students' assistance counselor with Clinton Elementary in Tiffin, St. Peter's Catholic School and Upper Sandusky Elementary School. He served as president of Hospice of Hancock County, which he helped found. A 1968 graduate of Delphos St. John's High School, a 1972 graduate of Ohio State University with a bachelor's degree in education, he earned a master's degree from Bowling Green State University in rehabilitation counseling in 1979. He was a member of Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation of Carey.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation in Carey. Officiating will be the Rev. Marty Nassr. A private graveside service will be at a later date.

Visitation hours are 2-4 and 6-9 p.m today at the Stombaugh Funeral Home, Carey. A wake service will be at 8:30 tonight at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the donor's choice in care of the funeral home.

Joseph R. Kubis
KOT truck driver

Joseph R. Kubis, 58, of 26 Heilman St., died at 12:14 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2000, in the Emergency Room of Fremont Memorial Hospital. He was born Nov. 8, 1941, to Joseph and Margaret (Newman) Kubis. Both are deceased. On Jan. 4, 1975, he married Doris M. Shock in Tiffin. She survives.

Other survivors include: a daughter, Mrs. Kelly Smith of Pandora; a brother, Richard Kubis of Daytona Beach, Fla.; four sisters, Mrs. Betty Maldinger of Daytona Beach, Fla., Mrs. JoAnn Sobansky of Washington, Pa., and Carole Cross of Sarasota, Fla.; and a grandchild, Marissa Smith.

A sister, Sandra Filichia, is deceased.

Mr. Kubis was a graduate of Brownsville High School in Pennsylvania. He worked as a truck driver for KOT Trucking Inc. of Fremont, and was a member of the DAV and Tiffin Eagles.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Turner-Engle Funeral Home. Burial will be at Seneca Memory Gardens.

Visitation hours are 5-9 tonight and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

Joseph Michael Kruszynski
Retired Chicago policeman

Joseph Michael Kruszynski, 77, of rural Fostoria died at 6:05 a.m. Friday, Feb. 4, 2000, in Fostoria Community Hospital.

He was born in Fostoria Oct. 4, 1922, to Joseph Michael and Waleria (Ulanowski) Kruszynski Sr. He married Bernadette O'Donnell July 27, 1946, in Chicago.

Besides his wife, other survivors include: three sons, J. Michael of Hurst, Texas, Paul T. of Skokie, Ill., and Kenneth W. of Bedford, Texas; a daughter, Mrs. Patrick (Bonnie Jeanne) Murphy of Southlake, Texas; six grandchildren; and a sister, Josephine Cameron of Dearborn Heights, Mich.

Six brothers, Martin, John, Peter, Paul, Felix and Francis; and six sisters, Connie Dass, Regina Steupak, Eleanor Kelbley, Clara Brown, Helen Thompson, and Bea Wilkes, are deceased.

Mr. Kruszynski served as a U.S. Marine during World War II. He retired in 1986 from the Chicago Police Department after 34 years of law enforcement. He was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fraternal Order of Police of Chicago, Illinois Police Association, Fraternal Order of the Eagle, and the New Riegel Moose.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in St. Wendelin Church with the rosary being recited at 10 a.m.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 Sunday at the Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria, where a Christian wake service will be at 8:30 p.m.

Military honors will take place following the Mass at St. Wendelin Mausoleum by the United Veterans of Fostoria.

Memorials may be made to St. Wendelin's Church or Sisters of Notre Dame Memorial Fund.

Ellen May Tonovitz
Former Clyde homemaker

Ellen May Tonovitz, 89, formerly of E. McPherson Hwy., Clyde, died Thursday, Feb. 3, 2000, in the home of her grandson, Roger and Barbara Tonovitz, in Williamsburg, Va. She resided in Clyde from 1948 until recently.

She was born July 2, 1910, in Claiborne to John A. and Florence (Blackwell) Cox. She married Mike Tonovitz Sept. 23, 1926. He died in 1995.

She was: educated in Barbertown; a homemaker; a member of the First United Methodist Church, Clyde; and a member of Senior Philathia.

Survivors include grandchildren Roger and Mike Tonovitz and Denise Tinnel; six great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; a brother Rev. John Cox of Columbus; and a sister Mrs. Roy (Mildred) Patton of Castalia.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, Clyde, with the Rev. John Bailey officiating. Interment will be in the Greenlawn Memory Gardens.

Visiting hours will be from noon until the services Sunday.

Henry W. Bergman II
Genoa resident

Henry W. "Hank" Bergman II, 56, of Genoa died Friday, Feb. 4, 2000, at St. Charles Hospital after a brief illness. He was born Jan. 26, 1944, to Eldo W. and Agnes E. "Tomme" (Thompson) Bergman in Brooklyn, N.Y. On Dec. 29, 1982, he married Ellen E. Fahrbach in Fremont. She survives.

Other survivors include: his mother; two sons, Henry W. III and Thomas E., at home; three daughters, Elizabeth E., Kathleen C. and Nicole R., all at home; seven brothers, William of Port Clinton, Dr. Eldo Bergman Jr. of Houston, Texas, Joseph of Genoa, James, John, George, of Oak Harbor, Christopher of Genoa; six sisters, Marie LaPointe of Oregon, Joan Knight of King of Prussia, Pa., Barbara Gill of Toledo, Mary Perry of Grand Rapids, Mich., Elizabeth Mass of Tiffin and Cathy Dzoba of Japan.

Mr. Bergman graduated from Xavier University in 1966 as a 2nd lieutenant and was commissioned an officer in the Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC). In 1968 he was stationed in the Mekong Delta region in Vietnam and retired as a lieutenant colonel in 1986 after 20 years of service. He was awarded four Silver Stars and four Air Medals along with other medals of valor and the Meritious Service Award. He was the owner of Henry W. Berman Inc.

Prayers will be recited at the Robinson-Henn-Brossia Funeral Home, Genoa, at 10 a.m. Monday, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Genoa. Interment will follow in Clay Township cemetery.

Visitation will be 7-9 today and 2-9 p.m. Sunday. Scripture service will be recited at 3 p.m. Sunday.

The family suggests memorials to St. Jerome Elementary School, Walbridge, or Cardinal Stritch High School.

Nellie Irene Walters
Huss Street resident

Nellie Irene Walters, 90, of Huss Street died at 10:51 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 3, 2000, in Tiffin Mercy Hospital.

She was born May 10, 1909, in Upper Sandusky to Phillip and Cora (Vent) Dome. She married Frank Brewer and they were divorced. She married Raymond Walters July 13, 1958, in Tiffin. He died in June 1983.

Survivors include: two sons, Clayton E. and Kenneth D., both of Tiffin; two daughters, Mrs. John (Shirley) McLaughlin of Fostoria and Sylvia McDaniels of Carey; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Agnes Cornish of Toledo.

Preceding her in death were two brothers, Roy and Paul Dome, and two sisters, Edith Crist and Orva Burley.

Mrs. Walters graduated from Upper Sandusky high school in 1928 and retired in 1971 with 21 years as press operator and custodian for Sterling Grinding Wheel & ITT.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Knollcrest cemetery (formerly Memory Gardens) near Arcadia with the Rev. Jeffrey L Waite officiating.

There will be no visitation and memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

The Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria, is in charge of the arrangements.

Ralph Emerson Sackett Sr.
Sackett Greenhouse owner

Ralph Emerson Sackett Sr., 95, of 733 N. Main St., Fostoria, died at 7:05 a.m. Friday, Feb. 4, 2000, in Fostoria Community Hospital.

He was born Jan. 27, 1905, in Fostoria to Emerson R. and Laura (Imber) Sackett. He married Lillian Downey Sept. 7, 1933, at United Brethren Church in Fostoria. She died July 2, 1976.

A son, Ralph E. Sackett Jr. of Fostoria survives.

Preceding him in death were two sisters, Mabel and Clara Sackett.

He was: a 1924 graduate of Fostoria High where he played the drums in the 1923 National Championship Band; owner and operator of Sackett's Greenouse, Fostoria, retiring in June of 1969; director of the Ohio Savings and Loan Association 1947-1979 and vice president 1955-1979; a 60-year member of Masonic Lodge 288 F&AM, Fostoria Commandery 62, Garfield Chapter 150, Fostoria Council 90, 32nd Degree Mason with Scottish Rite Valley of Toledo; and a 50-year member of the Fostoria Shrine Club; and Zenobia Shrine of Toledo.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Fountain cemetery.

Visitation will be 1-5 p.m. Sunday at the Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria.

Lanny C. Franks
Army veteran

Lanny C. Franks, 58, of 11946 CH 29, Carey, died unexpectedly at his residence at 8:28 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 3, 2000.

He was born Aug. 5, 1941, to Morris and Doris (Turner) Franks in Black Rock, Ark. On Aug. 24, 1963, he married Beverly J. Drumm.

Surviving are his wife; a son, Scott A. Franks of Lancaster; a daughter, Mrs. Eric (Lori A.) Johnson of Carey; two grandchildren; a brother, Charles Franks of Searcy, Ark.; two sisters, Mrs. Gary (Betty) West of Pleasantville and Mrs. Doug (Shiela) Cripps of Bremen.

Preceding him in death were his parents and a sister, Marceline Johnson.

He retired as distribution manager of General Mills in Fostoria in May 1999 after 34 years.

Mr. Franks was a 1959 graduate of Bremen high school; a U. S. Army veteran of Vietnam War; a member of the Baptist Faith, Black-Lamberjack VFW Post 3759 and Earl Green American Legion Post 344, both in Carey.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in the Stombaugh Memorial Funeral Home in Carey with the Rev. Ivan Bishop officiating. Burial will be in the Spring Grove cemetery.

Visitation is 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice c/o funeral home.

Pearl M. Gilbert
Retired homemaker

Pearl M. Gilbert, 91, formerly of Vickery and Fremont, died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2000, in the Edgewood Manor Nursing Home, Port Clinton.

She was born May 13, 1908, in Riley Township, Sandusky County, to Lester and Vernal (Roberts) Stokes. On April 6, 1929, she married Glendon W. Gilbert, who preceded her in death July 30, 1985.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. James (Evaden) Mason of Port Clinton and Mrs. Joseph (Marjorie) Branco of Alexandria, La.; eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Kenneth Stokes of Fremont.

An infant brother also is deceased.

Mrs. Gilbert, a homemaker, attended the Karbler Chippewa Schools and graduated in 1927 from Clyde High School.

A life-long area resident, she was a member of the Vickery Methodist Church and an associate member of Hayes Methodist Church, Fremont.

She also was a member of Riley Reapers Farm Women, Riley Garden Club and the Sandusky County Historical Society.

The Rev. Campbell will be the officiant at the 10:30 a.m. Thursday service in the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, Clyde. Interment will be in McPherson cemetery, Clyde.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Rick Ben Stine
Whirlpool Corp. employee

Rick Ben Stine, 44, of St. Joseph Street, Fremont, died at his residence Saturday, Feb. 5, 2000.

He was born in Fremont, May 1, 1955, to Benjamin Stine and Catherine Swisher. His mother survives. His wife, Shirley A. (Long) Stine, whom he married April 22, 1986, in South Carolina, survives.

Other survivors include: a son, Benjamin Stine; a daughter, Casey Stine; and a sister, Kathy Stine of Fremont.

His father is deceased.

Mr. Stine, a 1973 graduate of Ross High School, Fremont, was employed as a tow motor driver for 20 years at the Whirlpool Corp.

An avid Sprint Car racing fan, he also enjoyed fishing.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Wonderly-Horvath Funeral Home, Fremont. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery, Fremont.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Ben and Casey Stine Scholarship Fund, in care of Shirley Stine.
