William P. Bare
Retired machinery repairman

William P. Bare, 66, 1738 W. Market St. Apt. C., died at 6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 20, 2000, in the Mansfield Medical Center, Richland County, where he had been a patient since Feb. 17.

He was born in Wyandot County, July 13, 1933, to the late William Carl and Annabelle (Harris) Bare. His wife, Pearl (Morehart) Bare, whom he married Jan. 9, 1955, in Tiffin, survives.

Survivors also include: three daughters, Crystal Bodi of Tiffin, Cindy Z. Parker of Findlay and Kimberly M. Bare of New Riegel, six grandchildren and a great-grandchild; five brothers, Raymond Bailey, Louis "Louie," Charles Jr., Clayton "Pete" and Clifford "Jake" Everhart; and three sisters, Roberta Rowe of Pikeville, Ky., Clara Best of Tiffin and Mary Alice Hartson of New Riegel.

A sister, Anna Marie "Pat" Fuhrer, also is deceased.

Mr. Bare, a life-time Tiffin resident, retired as a machinery repairman from both the Basic Inc. and the Atlas.

A veteran of the Korean Conflict, he was a member of the First Baptist Church, the VFW and DAV.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Turner-Engle Funeral Home, with the Rev. Al Wilkes officiating. Interment will be in Bethel cemetery, McCutchenville.

Visitation is 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Kidney Foundation.

Janet K. Dymond
Retired cook

Janet K. Dymond, 54, of 1312 Fox St., Findlay, died at 11:05 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 20, 2000, in the Winebrenner Care Center, Findlay.

She was born in Findlay, Oct. 10, 1945, to the late Robert C. and Daisy A. (Andrus) Dymond.

Survivors include: two brothers, Edward Dymond of Findlay and Robert E. Dymond of Newport News, Va.; a sister, Mrs. Gene (Donna) Collingwood of Findlay; and her caregiver.

A brother, David L. Dymond, also preceded her in death.

Ms. Dymond, a member of Howard United Methodist Church, retired as a cook from Encks Tavern, Findlay, after 35 years of service.

She also was a member of Findlay Chapter 362 Women of the Moose, AMVETS Auxiliary and the Disabled American Veteran Buddy Chapter 43.

The Rev. Wayne B. Geissinger will conduct the 1 p.m. Wednesday service in the Coldren-Crates Funeral Home, Findlay. Burial will be in Maple Grove cemetery.

Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Bridge Home Health and Hospice or Cancer Patient Services.

Floyd 'Ducky' Ekleberry
Retired farmer

Floyd "Ducky" Ekleberry, 81, of 5697 CH 30, Sycamore, died at 4:05 p.m. Monday, Feb. 21, 2000, in Grant Riverside Hospital, Columbus.

He was born June 6, 1918, in Wyandot County, to Orley and Bernice (Shedenhelm) Ekleberry. On Feb. 24, 1943, he married Miriam Kuenzli, who survives.

Other survivors include: three children, Mrs. Robert (Sharon) Hosterman, Mike F. Ekleberry and Mrs. Duane (Kathy) Walp, all of rural Sycamore; five grandchildren and three step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Gerald (Gladys) Von Stein of rural Nevada; and a brother, Claude Ekleberry of Mount Vernon, Ohio.

A brother, Neal Ekleberry, is deceased.

Mr. Ekleberry, a retired farmer, attended the former Mt. Zion United Methodist Church and was attending the Sycamore United Church of Christ.

A World War II U.S. Army veteran, he served as a platoon sergeant at Fort Hood, Texas and also was stationed at Fort Braggs, N.C.

An avid fisherman, he enjoyed fishing in the Sandusky River and making many trips to Canada. He also liked to trap.

He also was a member of Sycamore American Legion Post 250 and Bud's Social Club, Upper Sandusky.

The Rev. Edgar W. Shelly will be the officiant at the 11 a.m. Thursday service in the Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore. Burial will be in Salem cemetery, Rt. 30, Upper Sandusky, where military graveside services will be conducted by Sycamore American Legion Post 250.

Visitation is 5-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Mohawk Historical Society, Grasshoppers Baseball Team and Sycamore United Church of Christ.

Geraldine Marie (Schwab) Alt
Willard Hospital retiree

Geraldine Marie (Schwab) Alt, 83, of Linden Lane, Willard, died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2000, in the Hillside Acres Nursing Home.

She was born in Bellevue, Jan. 5, 1917, to Joseph and Elizabeth (Greene) Rhinehart, and lived most of her life in the New Washington and Attica area. Her first husband, William Schwab and her second husband, Harry Alt, are deceased.

Survivors include: two sons, Richard Schwab of Huron and Buddy Schwab of Old Fort; four daughters, Mrs. Floyd (Janice) Sisinger of Delphos, Mrs. Ronald (June) Stone of Carey, Mrs. Ronald (Nancy) Featheringill and Donna Weithman, both of Willard; a step-son, Leonard Schwab of Republic; 24 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.

Two sisters, Ireta Karl and Eleanor Westbrook; and two brothers, Joseph and Donald Rhinehart, are deceased.

Mrs. Alt, a member of St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Attica, retired as a housekeeper from the Willard Area Hospital.

A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, with the Rev. Joseph Szybka as celebrant. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the Secor Funeral Home, Willard, where a prayer service will be at 3:30 p.m.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Fred O. Roberts Jr.
Findlay Industries retiree

Fred O. Roberts Jr., 77, of 82 Bonny Shores Drive, Lakeland, Fla. and Crawford County, died in the Integrated Health Services, Lakeland, at 11:47 a.m. Monday, Feb. 21, 2000.

He was born July 18, 1922, in Hancock County, to Fred O. Sr. and Hazel (Marvin) Roberts. His wife, Barbara (Steinhelfer) Roberts, whom he married July 17, 1953, survives

Other survivors include: seven sons, Paul Roberts of North Port, N.Y., Jack Roberts of Atlanta, Ga., David Roberts of Lakeland, Fred Roberts III of Dayton, Robert Roberts of Galion, Kurt Roberts of Tampa, Fla. and Steven Roberts of Bucyrus; five daughters, Gwen McGrath of Atlanta, Ga.; Mrs. Jeff (Kathy) Johnston of Houston, Texas, Mrs. Dan (Patti) Halm of Wadsworth, Mrs. Michael (Denise) Lloyd of Sycamore and Mrs. Michael (Annette) Sherman of Sulphur Springs; 29 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; three brothers, John Roberts of Canton, Jim Roberts of Toledo and Donald Roberts of Vanlue; and three sisters, Mrs. Ralph (Mary Lou) Roszman of Upper Sandusky, Mrs. Paul (Margaret) Cook of Findlay and Mrs. Roger (Nancy) Lessig of Vanlue.

A son, Jon Roberts, died in 1973 and three brothers and two grandsons also are deceased.

Mr. Roberts, who was working at B&B Outlet in Lake Wales, Fla., retired from Findlay Industries and had been the co-owner of the B&R Sewing Centers in Bucyrus, Galion, Tiffin, Upper Sandusky and Marion. He also owned Morse Sewing Center in Sycamore.

He was a member of Our Masters Chapel, Benton, Ohio, where he served as a Sunday school teacher, superintendent and trustee and as a church representative to the Mexican Mission Field.

Also a member of the Crawford County Fair Board, he was the recipient of the 1944 Outstanding Senior Citizen of Crawford County award.

A World War II U.S. veteran, he served in the 127th Engineer Battalion of the 11th Airborne Army Division as a paratrooper. He also received two Bronze Stars and numerous other medals.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore, with the Rev. Charles McGlone officiating. Interment will be in Benton cemetery, Crawford County, where military graveside rites will be conducted by Sycamore American Legion Post 250.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Our Masters Chapel Mexico Missions Fund.

Oleta M. Peiffer
Retired homemaker

Oleta M. Peiffer, 75, of Tiffin, died at 5:20 p.m. Monday, Feb. 21, 2000, in the Autumnwood Care Center.

She was born in New Riegel, June 17, 1924, to Rubert and Stella (Scherger) Schultz. On Sept. 2, 1944, in St. Boniface Catholic Church, New Riegel, she married Wilfred E. Peiffer, who died Dec. 26, 1981.

Survivors include: a son, Larry E. Peiffer of Fostoria; a daughter, Mrs. Gary (Elaine S.) Smith of New Riegel; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Mrs. Lucille Hickman and Mrs. Leonard (Eileen) Brickner, both of Fostoria, and Mrs. Francis (Susie) Lucius of New Riegel.

A brother, Rubert Schultz Jr., is deceased.

A homemaker, Mrs. Peiffer was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria.

A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Wendelin Catholic Church, where the rosary will be recited at 10 a.m. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today in the Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria, where a Christian Wake service will be at 8:30 p.m. today.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

John R. Sugrue
Self employed barber

John R. Sugrue, 82, of 25 Christopher Drive, Fostoria, died at 12:20 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2000, in St. Catherine's Care Center, Fostoria.

He was born Aug. 26, 1917, in Point Place, to Cornelius and Blanch (Black) Sugrue. His wife, Mabel E. (Kistler) Sugrue, whom he married in 1961, died June 21, 1999.

Surviving are: two step-sons, Raymond "Gene" Hamilton of Findlay and James Arnold of Chesterfield Mich.; and two step-daughters, Rose Marie Kingery of Fostoria and Mrs. Russell (Linda) Ernst of Findlay.

Three sisters, Florence Swope, Teresa Sheeter and Blanch; and a brother, Patrick Sugrue, are deceased.

A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, Mr. Sugrue had worked at Dow Chemical and was a self-employed barber, both in Findlay.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday in the Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria. Burial will be in Memory Gardens, near Arcadia, where military honors will be provided at the graveside by the United Veterans of Fostoria..

Visitation will be one hour before the service on Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to St. Catherine's Care Center, Fostoria.

Bernice N. Wilson
Former grain/dairy/turkey farmer

Bernice N. Wilson, 97, of 21262 CR 7, Alvada, died at 10:35 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 20, 2000, in St. Catherine"s Care Center, Findlay.

She was born in Carey, Wyandot County, Sept. 7, 1902, to Lewis B. and Rilla V. (Hunter) Snyder. Her husband, Charles F. Wilson, is deceased.

Survivors include a daughter, Jean W. Willis of Findlay, and a granddaughter.

A sister, Hazel L. Snyder; and two brothers, Lester and Ralph Snyder, are deceased.

Mrs. Wilson, a grain and dairy farmer, specialized in raising turkeys. She was a member of the West Independence United Methodist Church.

The Rev. Lowell Reeder will conduct the 2 p.m. Thursday service in the Stombaugh Memorial Funeral Home, Carey. Interment will be in Spring Grove cemetery, Carey.

Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

George Robert Wolph
Wolph's Welding owner/operator

George Robert Wolph, 83, formerly of 930 Springville Ave., Fostoria, died at 4:23 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2000, in Fostoria Community Hospital.

He was born March 11, 1916, in Toledo, to George C. and Agnes S. (White) Wolph. His wife, Mary Joan (Lonsway) Wolph, whom he married June 28, 1941, in St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria, died Feb. 24, 1999.

Survivors include: a son, Thomas Wolph of California; two daughters, Sharyn Huffman of Wayne, Pa., and Cecelia Tasker of Fostoria; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Helen Wolph of Fostoria.

Preceding him in death were a granddaughter, Tiffanie Tasker; three brothers, Paul, William and John Wolph; and a sister, Jayne Behm.

Mr. Wolph, a retired welder, was the owner and operator of Wolph's Welding Co. in Fostoria.

A World War II U.S. Army veteran, he was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church.

Memorial services will be at a later date. His body has been donated to science.

Memorials may be made to Toledo Zoo or St. Catherine's Care Center Activity Department, in care of the Hoening Funeral Home, 242 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria, OH 44830, which is in charge of arrangements.

John R. 'Bob' Haney Jr.
Army National Guard officer

John Robert "Bob" Haney Jr., 53, of Vermilion, died Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 22, 2000, in Firelands Community Hospital, Sandusky, following a six-month illness.

He was born Dec. 22, 1946, in Murphy, N.C. His wife of 29 Years, Diane (Coleman) Haney, survives.

Other survivors include: three daughters, Shereen C. Brooks of Lodi, Carrie R. and Janette N. Haney, both of Vermilion; a son, Justin K. Haney of Vermilion; his mother, Mary Kathryn Tumeo of Gaffney, S.C.; and a sister, Melinda Hoiser of Talking Rock, Ga.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Haney Sr.

Mr. Haney, a sergeant first class N.C.O. Readiness officer for the Ohio Army National Guard for 20 years, also had been an air traffic controller in Oberlin.

A U.S. Air Force veteran, serving 1963-67, he enjoyed playing darts, racquetball, golf, sports and taking walks.

A Vermilion resident for the past 24 years, moving there from Lorain, he had been a member of the Baptist Temple, Akron.

Services will be at 8:30 p.m. Friday in the Riddle Funeral Home, Vermilion, with the Rev. Jerry Anderson, pastor of the First Baptist Church, Vermilion, officiating. Military graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Northlawn Memorial Gardens, Peninsula, Ohio.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7 p.m. Friday until time of the service at 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
