Lydia Catherine (Hartman) Beagle
Mother of Tiffin resident

Lydia Catherine (Hartman) Beagle, 85, formerly of 10117 CR 26, Arlington, died at 10 p.m. Monday, Feb. 28, 2000, in the Good Samaritan Center, Arlington.

She was born in Hardin County, Oct. 11, 1914, to William and Sophia E. (Frank) Hartman. On April 20, 1935, in Arlington, she married Marvin A. Beagle, who preceded her in death May 17, 1973.

Survivors include: two sons, Jerry L. and Roger D. Beagle, both of the Arlington area; two daughters, Mrs. Charles "Bud" (C. Sue) Nutter of Tiffin and Mrs. Steve (Betsy L.) Porter of Fort Collins, Colo.; 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Harold Hartman of Arlington; and a sister, Marie Andrews, also of Arlington.

A grandchild; a brother, Clarence Hartman; and two sisters Della Bame and Luella Wolford, also preceded her in death

Mrs. Beagle, a homemaker, had formerly been employed at Brinkman's Cannery.

She was a member of the Good Hope Lutheran Church, Arlington and its Lady Aid Society.

The Rev. Jerry L. Nuernberger will be the officiant at the 11 a.m. Friday service in Good Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Bishop cemetery, Eagle Township.

Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today at the Crates Funeral Home, Arlington and one hour prior to the service Friday at the church.

Memorials may be made to the Good Samaritan Center, 100 Powell Drive, Arlington, OH or Good Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church, 300 S. Main St., Arlington.

Paul L. Hedden
Clyde Whirlpool retiree

Paul L. Hedden, 76, of Dublin, Ohio, died at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 29, 2000, in the Mayfair Village Nursing Home, Columbus.

He was born Nov. 14, 1923, in Seneca County, to Edward and Maude (Humbert) Hedden. His wife, Virginia M. (Johnson) Hedden, survives in Dublin.

Other survivors include: two sons, David Hedden of Westerville and Phil Hedden of Dublin; two daughters, Mrs. Scott (Linda) Stirgwolt of Port Clinton and Mrs. Scott (Paula) Chaney of Dublin; a brother, Lawrence Hedden of Tiffin; two sisters, Helen Yoder of Fostoria and Pauline Pasch of Fremont; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Two brothers, Harold and Fred Hedden; and two sisters, Leah Niemota and Susan Gee, also are deceased.

Mr. Hedden, a World War II U.S. Army veteran, retired in 1989 from the maintenance department at Whirlpool Corp. in Clyde, after 35 years of service.

He was a life member of the Clyde VFW, Bettsville American Legion and Tiffin Disabled American Veterans.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria. Burial will be in Kansas cemetery, where the Joint Service Group of Fostoria will conduct military honors at the graveside.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Robert S. 'Butch' Moore Sr.
Plastics company retiree

Robert S. "Butch" Moore Sr., 56, of 5473 N. TR 63, Fostoria, died at 12:07 a.m. Wednesday, March 1, 2000, in the Toledo Hospital.

He was born in Fostoria, Sept. 12, 1943, to the late George and Ella (Harrison) Moore. He first married Phyllis Annon, and she is deceased. He later married Roberta M. McDermott, who survives in Fostoria.

Survivors also include: four sons, Robert S. Moore Jr. of Tiffin and Michael, Jonathan and Jeremiah Moore, all of Fostoria; two daughters, Mrs. Richard (Brenda) Williams and Mrs. Anthony (Jessie) Pridemore, both of Fremont; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; a brother, George Moore of Clyde; and three sisters, Mrs. Marvin (Maxine) Cooper of Fostoria, Mrs. Alex (Mary) Miller Sr. of Crestline and Mrs. Robert (Margaret) Annon of North Dakota.

A sister, Barbara Moore; and a brother, Melvin Moore, also are deceased.

Mr. Moore, a member of the Fostoria Eagles, retired from Arbor Plastics in Fremont.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in the Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria, with Pastor Susan Hatfield officiating. Interment will be in Fountain cemetery, Fostoria.

Visitation is 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. today and 9:30 a.m. until time of the service at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Arthur C. Distel Jr.
National Machinery retiree

Arthur C. Distel Jr., 80, formerly of 201 Sycamore St., died at noon Wednesday, March 1, 2000, at his daughter's residence in Tiffin.

He was born Oct. 14, 1919, in Tiffin, to Arthur J. and Cora K. (Shultz) Distel. His wife, Harriet A. (Hudson) Distel, whom he married Sept. 4, 1943, at Camp Bowie, Texas, died Aug. 21, 1991.

Surviving are four sons, R. Scott, Paul A., Richard E. and Timothy J. Distel, all of Tiffin; four daughters, Mrs. Gerard (Mary Jane) Rumschlag of Fostoria, Mrs. John (Catherine) Gase and Mrs. Dennis (Elizabeth) Swecker, both of Tiffin and Mrs. Robert (Laura) Burns of New Riegel; five sisters, Mrs. Paul (Henrietta) Smyser and Mrs. John (Agnes) Zeiger, both of Tiffin, Sister Joan of Arc OSU, of the Ursuline Convent, Toledo, Mrs. Will (Dorothy) Dickson of Roseville, Mich. and Sister St. Martin OSU, also of Toledo; six brothers, Howard, Richard, Eugene, Robert and John "Butch" Distel, all of Tiffin and James Distel of Calabasas, Calif.; 19 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

A brother, Harvey Distel; and a grandson, Aaron Distel, also are deceased.

Mr. Distel, a lifelong Tiffin resident, retired as a test floor technician from the National Machinery Co., where he had been employed 1945-82.

A 1937 Calvert High School graduate, where he served as captain of the football team, he was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the National Machinery Quarter Century Club, Knights of Columbus, Serra Club and the Seneca Hills Golf Course.

He also served as a F.I.S.H. volunteer and was a member of St. Joseph Credit Union Board of Directors.

A World War II U.S. Army veteran, where he served as tech sergeant, he received a Bronze Star for retrieving an American tank behind enemy lines.

The Rev. James Say will be the celebrant at the 11 a.m. Saturday funeral Mass in St. Joseph Catholic Church, where the rosary will be recited at 10:45 a.m. Burial will be in the parish cemetery, with military graveside rites performed by the United Veterans Council.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home, where the Quarter Century Club will meet at 7 p.m.

Memorials may be made to Community Hospice Care, Tiffin, or a charity of the donor's choice.

Elenora R. Dunn
Former nurse/volunteer

Elenora R. Dunn, 90, formerly of Tiffin, died at 12:08 a.m. Wednesday, March 1, 2000, at her daughter's home in Livonia, Mich.

She was born in New Riegel, March 8, 1909, to Jerome and Rosa (Zoeller) Theis. On Oct. 1, 1935, in St. Boniface Church, New Riegel, she married James M. Dunn, who preceded her in death Dec. 25, 1960.

Survivors include: a son, Paul J. Dunn of Prescott, Ariz.; three daughters, Patricia Claydon of Tiffin, Mrs. Norman (Carolyn) McEwen of Livonia and Mrs. Thomas (Barbara) Mullins of Royal Oak, Mich.; three sisters, Florence Almeroth of Monroe, Mich., Frances Lonsway of Fremont and Mrs. Arthur (Doris) O'Connell of Port Richey, Fla.; seven grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Also preceding her in death were three brothers, Raymond, Alvin and Clarence; and a sister, Laurine Peiffer.

A 1926 graduate of Ursuline Academy and a 1930 graduate of Mercy School of Nursing, Mrs. Dunn had been employed at Mercy Hospital of Tiffin and as a private duty nurse.

She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, its Altar Rosary Society, the Daughters of Isabella and the Catholic Knights of Ohio.

A life member of St. Francis Auxiliary, she also served as a volunteer in Mercy Hospital Gift Shop and at St. Francis Home.

A funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Mary Catholic Church, with the Rev. Frank A. Murd and the Rev. Richard Dunn as con-celebrants. The rosary will be recited at 10:15 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be in St. Joseph cemetery.

Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Friday at the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home, where a wake service will be at 7:45 p.m.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Lavera Ann Hollenbaugh
Homemaker/retired nurse

Lavera Ann Hollenbaugh, 93, died at 2:15 p.m. Wednesday, March 1, 2000, in the Independence House, 1000 Independence Ave., Fostoria, where she resided.

She was born Jan. 6, 1907, in Fostoria, to William and Ada (Bullock) McClellan. Her husband, Kenneth M. Hollenbaugh, whom she married in July 1927, in the United Brethren Church, Fostoria, died in 1978.

Surviving are a son, Kenneth M. Hollenbaugh of Boise, Idaho; a daughter, Marjorie Ann Munoz of Fostoria; a sister, Ada Louise Shipman of Florida; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

A sister, Helen Gregg, also is deceased.

Mrs. Hollenbaugh, a homemaker, retired in 1982 as a nurse from Fostoria Community Hospital, where she had been employed for 30 years.. She was a member of Rehoboth Methodist Church, rural Fostoria.

The Rev. Gary Staat will conduct the 2 p.m. Saturday service in the Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria. Interment will be in Fountain cemetery, Fostoria.

There will be no visitation.

Memorials may be made to the church.

Margaret Sophia Fisher
Retired homemaker

Margaret Sophia Fisher, 95, of Heritage Nursing Home, Findlay, formerly of Carey, died at 10:20 a.m. Wednesday, March 1, 2000, at the nursing home. She was born Sept. 10, 1904, to Peter and Philomena (Korte) Schmitz. On Oct. 9, 1928, she married Theadore A. Fisher. He died Oct. 22, 1962.

Surviving are: three daughters, Mrs. Rita Smith of Kenton, Mrs. Ruth Phipps of Findlay and Mrs. Helen Herman of Ottoville; a sister, Mary Schmitz of Delphos; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

Preceding her in death were: a son, Robert Fisher; two daughters, Sister Dorothy Louise Fisher and Delores Louise Fisher; two brothers; three sisters: two great-grandchildren; and a grandchild.

Father Benjamen Knopp will officiate the 11 a.m. Saturday service at Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church, Carey. Burial will be at St. Mary's cemetery, Carey.

Visitation hours are after 3 p.m. today at Beach Funeral Home, Carey. The rosary will be recited at 8 p.m.

Memorials may be made to Masses.

Doris A. Morrone
New Riegel resident

Doris A. Morrone, 70, of 19 N. Perry St., New Riegel, died at 10:35 p.m. Wednesday, March 1, 2000, at Tiffin Mercy Hospital. She was born on June 13, 1929, to Jarvis and Alma (Toothman) Straight. On Sept. 3, 1948, she married John J. Morrone. He survives.

Other survivors include: four daughters, Mrs. Melissa DeMoss of New Riegel, Mrs. Suzette Clouse of rural New Riegel, Annette (Nettie) Eyer of New Riegel and Mrs. Camille Wolph of Fostoria; two brothers, Richard Straight of Grant Town, W.Va., and Hugh Straight of Sylvania; and seven grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were: three brothers.

Mrs. Morrone was a 1947 graduate of Fairview High School, Fairview, W.Va., she worked in the cafeteria at New Riegel High School, Jo Ann Fabric Shop and J.C. Penney in Tiffin. She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, New Riegel. She liked to sew and quilt and an avid New Riegel Athletic Booster.

Father Harry Cavanaugh and Father Leonard Kistler will officiate the 10 a.m. Saturday, March 4, 2000, funeral at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Alvada.

Visitation hours are 1-8 tonight at the Walton-Moore Funeral Home in Sycamore.

Paul E. Raines
Former teacher/coach

Word has been received of the death of Paul E. Raines, 72, of Sebring, Fla., who died Sunday, Feb. 21, 2000, at his home.

He was born in Tiffin and moved to Sebring from Clyde in 1990.

Mr. Raines is survived by his wife, Phyllis of Sebring; a son, Steven E. of Worthington; two grandchildren; and a sister, Dorothy Stevenson of Lancaster, Pa.

A son, Michael, is deceased.

He was a teacher and coach in Tiffin from 1948 until 1952 and at Fremont Ross High School from 1953 until 1960. He worked with the Fremont City School administration from 1960 to 1971 and was principal at the junior high school from 1971 until 1984. He was a member of the Elks Club in Fremont and the Golf Hammock Men's Golf Association in Sebring.

Arthur E. Francis
Tiffin resident

Arthur E. Francis, 62, of 3718 S. SR 231, died at 7:15 p.m. Friday, March 3, 2000, in Toledo Hospital.

Mr. Francis was born Oct. 29, 1937, in Fremont to Laurel and Marion (Stadler) Francis. On June 22, 1963, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin, he married Ruth Rumschlag who died Nov. 26, 1978.

Survivors include: a son, Daniel Francis of Tiffin; two daughters, Mrs. Michael (Amy) Twigg of Tiffin and Mrs. Dana (Deborah) Lattimer of Bellevue; nine grandchildren; a brother, David Francis of Fremont; and two sisters, Mrs. David (Marcia) Darmstadt of Elyria and Donna Safranek of Utica, Mich.

Preceding him in death were his parents and a daughter, Cheryl Marie Francis.

He was a United States Navy Veteran; retired from Findlay Electric Supply in Fostoria as a small motor repairman; previously worked for American Armature for approximately eight years; a lino typesetter for the Advertiser Tribune; and a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church.

The Rosary will be recited 15 minutes prior to the funeral mass at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. James Say officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Catholic cemetery with the United Veterans Council performing a military graveside ceremony.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at the Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the Diabetes Foundation, the Kidney Foundation or to the American Cancer Society.

Marie A. Wise
Hopewell Center teacher

Marie A. Wise, 90, formerly of 6157 S. Twp. Rd. 151 and of Elizabeth Schaefer Apartments, died at 7:12 a.m. Saturday, March 4, 2000, in the St. Francis Home.

She was born Dec. 28, 1909, in Tiffin to Clem and Pauline (Buchman) Steinmetz and married Charles Wise June 6, 1933, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. He died Sept. 1, 1994.

Survivors include: six sons, Thomas, James, Jerald, Donald and Robert of Tiffin and John of Bloomville; two daughters, Eileen DeBarbrie of Tiffin and Patricia Burks of Sycamore; 23 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by two grandchildren, Jack Wise and Adam Starner; two brothers, Ralph and Carl Steinmetz; and two sisters, Leona Smith and Victoria Steinmetz.

Mrs. Wise was a Valedictorian graduate of her 1927 Calvert High School graduating class; a normal school graduate from Bowling Green State University in 1929; a homemaker; a former teacher at Hopewell Center Grades 1-8; a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Calvert Alumni and belonged to St. Mary's Altar Rosary Society.

Funeral mass will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the St. Joseph Catholic Church where the Rosary will be recited 15 minutes prior to the mass. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Catholic cemetery.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Sunday at the Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to either the Calvert Foundation or to the Community Hospice Care of Tiffin.
