Ruth C. Kennedy
Sears Roebuck Co. retiree

Ruth C. Kennedy, 86, 7 W. Market St., died at 1:25 a.m. Saturday, April 1, 2000, in the Autumnwood Care Center.

She was born in Cleveland, March 3, 1914, to Emil and Lillian Boetticher. In June 1941, she married Dr. George F. Nisius and they were divorced. On April 27, 1951, she married Alexander K. Kennedy, who is deceased.

Surviving are two sons, George R. Nisius of Tiffin and Alexander Kirk Kennedy II of Brook Park; four grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. John (LaVerne) Nisius.

Mrs. Kennedy retired from the office at Sears Roebuck Co. in Cleveland.

Services in the Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home, with Msgr. Edward Dunn officiating and visitation will be private. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park, North Olmsted.

Memorials may be made to the Betty Jane Center, designated for Seneca County Dialysis.

Sherri L. Pierce
Intersil employee

Sherri L. Pierce, 44, of 1605 Washington Ave., Findlay, died at her residence at 4:55 p.m. Friday, March 31, 2000.

She was born April 4, 1955, in Findlay, to James B. and Mary A. (Radebaugh) Waaland, who survive in Findlay. She first married Ricky May on Nov. 19, 1972 and they were divorced. On March 4, 1995, she married Mark R. Pierce, who survives in Findlay.

Other survivors include: three daughters, Christina L. and Candy A. May and Mrs. Joseph (Heather S.) Yambor, all of Findlay; two step-daughters, Mrs. Justin (Heather) Waite of Indiana and Elizabeth A. Pierce of Bowling Green; a son, Heath A. May of Findlay; a step-son, Daniel A. Pierce of Findlay; seven grandchildren and a step-grandson; and three brothers, James Waaland II of Toledo, John Waaland of Arcadia and Mark Waaland of Findlay.

Mrs. Pierce, a 1973 graduate of Findlay High School, was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, Findlay.

She had been employed at Intersil (formerly RCA) since 1983.

The Rev. Gregory W. Creech will conduct the 10 a.m. Tuesday service in St. Paul United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Maple Grove cemetery, Findlay.

Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today in the Coldren-Crates Funeral Home, Findlay.

Memorials may be made to Cancer Patient Services, 820 N. Main St., Suite 7, Findlay, Ohio, 45840-3570.

Gene A. Cole
Campground owner/operator

Gene A. Cole, 61, of 5530 TH 11, Sycamore, died at his home at 5:05 a.m. Sunday, April 2, 2000.

He was born in Wyandot County, Aug. 9, 1938, to Henry A. and Mary E. (Shaffer) Cole. His mother survives in Carey. On Dec. 31, 1959, in North Carolina, he married M. Frances Hanes, who survives.

Survivors also include: two sons, Tony Cole of El Paso, Texas and David Cole of Wellington; four grandchildren; three brothers, Henry Jr., Rich and Donald Cole, all of Carey; five sisters, Mrs. Larry (Diane) Stevens of Findlay, Mrs. Gary (Margaret) Cramer of Fostoria, Mrs.Charles (Dorothy) Graves, Rosemary Billock and Mrs. Robert (Cathy) Parsons, all of Carey.

His father is deceased.

Mr. Cole, a member of Wildwood Chapel, Upper Sandusky, was formerly employed at Worthington Custom Plastics in Upper Sandusky. He also owned and operated Tymochtee Trailer Campground in Sycamore.

The Rev. Ron Renauro will be the officiat at the 2 p.m. Wednesday service in the Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, Carey. Burial will be in Zion Bloom cemetery, Vanlue.

Visitation will be 2-5 and 6:30-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Wildwood Chapel or Hospice of Wyandot County.

Ima O. Cain
Mother of Tiffin resident

Ima O. Cain, 96, formerly of Findlay, died at 11:40 p.m. Sunday, April 2, 2000, in the Putnam Acres Care Center, Ottawa.

She was born Sept. 18, 1903, in Mt. Cory, to Enoch and Sarah (Hilty) Barkimer. On April 1, 1922, she married Alva L. Cain. He died in December 1983.

Surviving are: three daughters, Mrs. Carl (Doris) Smith of Findlay, Mrs. Robert (Helen) Nemire of Tiffin and Mrs. Ronald (Connie) Crawford of Colton, Ohio; six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Barbara Saltz and Mrs. Martha Cain, both of Findlay.

Also preceding her in death were four brothers, Harvey, Carl, Paul and Roy Barkimer; and four sisters, Ruth Oman, Mary Lightfoot, Lizzie Brink and Sarah McCarty.

Mrs. Cain, a member of Howard United Methodist Church, Findlay, at one time was employed at the former Hughes Dry Cleaners.

She was a 55-year member of the Findlay Chapter 23 Order of Eastern Star.

The Rev. Wayne B. Geissinger will be the officiant at the 11 a.m. Wednesday service in the Coldren-Crates Funeral Home, Findlay. Burial will be in Maple Grove cemetery.

Visitation is 7-9 p.m. today and one hour before the service Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the church, Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children, Zenobia Shrine Temple, 1511 Madison Ave., Toledo, OH 43624 or a charity of the donor's choice.

Joshua Clark Glover
Infant son

Joshua Clark Glover, infant son of Greg Alan and Michelle Lynn (Hankins) Glover, 320 Clinton Ave., was stillborn at 1:02 p.m. Saturday, April 1, 2000, in Mercy Hospital of Tiffin.

Survivors include his parents; three siblings, Meredith and Claire Glover and Zachary Ferris, all at home; maternal grandparents, Karl and Kay Hankins of Tiffin; paternal grandparents, Lowell and LaVaughn Glover of Clyde; maternal great-grandmother, Genevive Johnson of Duluth, Minn.; and paternal great-grandmother, Mirtie Glover of Bellevue.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family.

The Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Ebenezer United Methodist Church of a charity of the donor's choice.

Claribel Lanning
Burgoon homemaker

Claribel Lanning, 90, of Main Street, Burgoon, died in the Grant Medical Center, Columbus, Monday morning, April 3, 2000, from complications of a broken hip.

She was born Sept. 27, 1908, in Helena, to Elmer and Florence Chattie (Shull) Havens. Her husband, Theodore Lanning, whom she married April 20, 1929, in the Helena E.U.B. parsonage, died May 26, 1986.

Survivors include: three daughters, Janet Baker and Mary Meyer, both of Burgoon and Janie Simpson of Rawson; 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchld.

A son, Robert and two grandchildren, also are deceased.

A homemaker, Mrs. Lanning graduated from Jackson Burgoon High School in 1928. She attended Burgoon United Methodist Church.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Nopper-Veh Funeral Home, Gibsonburg. Burial will be in Kansas cemetery.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the church.

Harry R. Miller Sr.
Diesel mechanic

Harry R. Miller Sr., 56, of TR 101, Bascom, died at 5:50 a.m. Monday, April 3, 2000, in Fostoria Community Hospital.

He was born in McComb Dec. 11, 1943, to the late Harold and Marjorie (Wolley) Miller. On Jan. 2, 1965, in Fostoria, he married Gloria J. Ball. She survives in Bascom.

Other survivors include: three sons, Harry Miller Jr. of Fremont, Brian "Scott" Miller of Tiffin and Christopher Miller of Bascom; his stepfather, Jacob Schroen of Findlay; two brothers, Roger Schroen of Tiffin and Marvin Schroen of Findlay; a sister, Edith Farson of Findlay; and three grandchildren.

Mr. Miller, a 1962 graduate of Fostoria High School, was employed as a diesel mechanic at John's Welding and Towing in Tiffin.

A U.S. Army veteran, he was a member of the Bascom Volunteer Fireman and a former member of Bascom EMT.

The Rev. Robert Chew will be the officiant at the 8 p.m. Wednesday service in the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Josephine M. 'Mickey' Corbin
Home care nursing employee

Josephine M. "Mickey" Corbin, 75, of 14909 CH 47, Upper Sandusky, died at 9:50 p.m. Sunday, April 2, 2000, in the Winebrenner Village, Findlay.

She was born in Marion Jan. 22, 1925, to William and Mayme B. (Cook) Armbruster. Her first husband, Herman Emerine, whom she married April 26, 1941, died Feb. 5, 1972. She later married Fredrick E. "Tim" Corbin July 28, 1978. He survives.

Survivors include: two daughters, Joyce Butcher and Mrs. Neil (Diane) McAlexander, both of Findlay; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Roger (Carol) Daughenbaugh of Carey; two stepsons, Gary and Solomon Richardson, both of Wharton; seven grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and a step-great-grandchild.

Also preceding her in death were three sons, Bill, John and an infant Herman Emerine; four brothers and two sisters.

Mrs. Corbin, a member of Wharton Church of God, worked at Blanchard Valley Hospital during the 1960s and did home care nursing through the 1970s-80s and '90s.

The Rev. Wayne Geissinger and the Rev. Melvin Summy will be the co-officiants at the 11 a.m. Thursday service in the Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, Carey. Interment will be in Wharton-Richland Union cemetery, Wharton.

Visitation will be 4-9 p.m. Wednesday and 9-11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Bridge Hospice.

Isabelle G. Collet
Retired bookkeper

Isabelle G. Collet, 85, of 1669 N. Union St., Fostoria, died at 11:50 a.m. Sunday, April 2, 2000, in Fostoria Community Hospital.

She was born in Carey March 10, 1915, to Peter M. and Caroline (Moes) Collet.

A sister, Charlotte Kleinfelter, survives in Fostoria.

Four brothers, Gerald, Raymond, an infant Arthur and Father Edward Collet; and a sister, Teresa Collet, also are deceased.

Miss Collet had been a bookkeeper for 30 years, working at Shang's Auto Service, Carey Implement Store and the Indian Trail Nursing Home.

A long-time former member of the Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church, Carey, she was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria; the Rosary Altar Society; and the Secular Franciscans, for whom she had been in charge of the Retreat Center for 10 years.

A promoter for the Franciscan Mission Association since 1955, Miss Collet was a charter member of the Poverello Federal Credit Union, where she had served as assistant treasurer for some time.

A Mass of Christial Burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church, with the Rev. Daniel J. Ring as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Mary's cemetery, Carey.

Visitation is 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. today at the Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, Carey, where a vigil service will be at 8:30 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the Franciscan Mission Association or a charity of the donor's choice.

T. June (Anderson) Samsel
Retired sales manager

T. June (Anderson) Samsel, 66, formerly of Wilmington, Del., died at 2:03 p.m. Sunday, April 2, 2000, at her home at 107 W. 11th St., Sycamore.

She was born Aug. 16, 1933, in Mexico, Ohio, to the late Boyce Anderson and Mildred D. (Stump) Anderson Hufford. Her mother survives in Sycamore. On May 25, 1952, in Sycamore, she married Dale E. Samsel. He died Aug. 3, 1993.

Survivors include: a son, Mark E. Samsel of Chesterfield, Mo.; two daughters, Mrs. Philip (Denise) Thomas of Elyria and Mrs. Dennis (Kim) Fackler of Rutland, Ohio; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and four brothers, Jack W. Anderson of Morganton, N.C., Gordon H. Hufford of Toledo;, Conrad C. Hufford of Tiffin and Bradford L. Hufford of Sycamore.

Mrs. Samsel, a member of Sycamore United Church of Christ, retired as manager of the Northeast Regional Sales Office for Hercules Inc., Wilmington, Del.

A 1951 graduate of Sycamore High School, where she was a member of the National Honor Society, she was a 33-year member of Bootwyn, Pa., American Legion Auxiliary Post 951, where she served as president for five years and treasurer for three years. She recently transferred to Sycamore American Legion Auxiliary Post 250.

The Rev. Edgar W. Shelly will conduct the 11 a.m. Wednesday service in the Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Chester Bethel cemetery, Wilmington., Del.

Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Wyandot County.

Dan Reuwee
Former Tiffin resident

Dan Reuwee, 56 of Liberty, Mo., died suddenly Sunday, April 2, 2000, in the Liberty Hospital.

Memorial services took place in Liberty Christian Church Wednesday.

He was born June 29, 1943, in Findlay, to Alvin Daniel and Pauline L. Reuwee, and grew up in Tiffin. His mother survives in Tiffin and his wife, Barbara, survives in Liberty.

Other survivors include: a daughter, Laura Reuwee of New York, N.Y.; a son, Brian, a student at the University of Missouri in Columbia; and a sister, Rebecca Reuwee of Columbus.

His father preceded him in death.

Mr. Reuwee, a 1961 graduate of Columbian High School, continued his education at the Ohio State University, where he was a member of the Alpha Zeta Fraternity.

After graduation he served two years active duty as a supply officer in the Army Ordnance Corps. For his service he was awarded the Bronze Star and attained the rank of captain. Following his Army tour, which included duty with the 4th Infantry Division in Vietnam, he returned to Ohio State and earned a master's degree in journalism in 1969.

He joined the National Future Farmers of America in 1969 as director of information, a position he held for nine years prior to his move to the American Soybean Association.

Mr. Reuwee worked in the dairy industry since 1992 as director of corporate communications at Mid-America Dairymen in Springfield, Mo., and for the past two years at Dairy Farmers of America in Kansas City, Mo.

While in Springfield, he held a two-year term as treasurer of public relations of the Ozarks; served as past president of the Agricultural Relations Council and as an associate member of the American Agricultural Editors Association and National Association of Broadcasters. Since 1996 he served on the board of directors of the Missouri Institute of Cooperatives (MIC) and in 1998 he served as MIC president.

His hobbies included woodworking, hiking and John Deere two-cylinder tractors.

He was a member of Liberty Christian Church, where he sang in the choir.

The Rev. Gail Angel will conduct graveside services in Fairmont cemetery at 11 a.m. Saturday. Family and friends are invited to attend the service and join the family following the service at St. Paul's United Methodist Church.

Military graveside services will be conducted by the United Veterans Council.

The Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Habitat for Humanity, the Ohio State University College of Food and Agriculture Environmental Science or the Reuwee Fund, in care of the Development Office, 2120 Fyffe Road, Columbus, OH 43210.

Owen F. Fruth
Clyde Whirlpool retiree

Memorial services for Owen F. Fruth, 68, of Green Springs, who died Nov. 16, 1999, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Rock Creek cemetery. The Green Springs VFW and American Legion will conduct the service. The Turner-Engle Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
