Roy L. Woodruff
Retired Carey handyman

Roy L. Woodruff, 79, of 138 East Brown Ave., Carey, died at 7:50 p.m. Wednesday, April 19, 2000, at Wyandot Manor, Upper Sandusky. He was born Dec. 17, 1920, to Bertrum and Dorothy (Austin) Woodruff, both deceased. He married Alice M. Lake Oct. 10, 1948. She died Nov. 23, 1990.

Surviving are two sons, Roy K. Woodruff and Donald Joseph Woodruff, both of Upper Sandusky; two daughters, Susan Woodruff of Upper Sandusky and Mrs. Donna Hall of Carey; three sisters, Mary Cracciolo of Newburg, N.Y., Betsy Brundage of Scotmills, Ore., and Dorothy Cramden of Liberty, N.Y.; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by five brothers, a sister and a great-grandson.

Mr. Woodruff was a retired laborer. After he retired he became a community handyman. A veteran of the U.S. Army, and was a member of: Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church of Carey; Fostoria Lake Plains Barbershoppers for 15 years; SPEB&QSA, Inc.; Carey Senior Citizens; and past member of Carey American Legion Post 344.

The Vicar Patty Heath will officiate the 11 a.m. Tuesday service at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church of Carey. Burial will be at Spring Grove cemetery, Carey.

Visitation hours will be 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at the Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, Carey, and 10-11 a.m. Tuesday at the church.

Memorials may be made to Wyandot County Hospice or the American Cancer Society (c/o the funeral home)

Robert A. Barth, III
Resident of Fostoria

Robert A. Barth, III, 22, of 206 McDougal St., Fostoria, formerly of Monroe County, Mich., died at his home Wednesday, April 19, 2000.

He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Sandra Grabarczwk; father, Robert Barth Jr.; grandfather, Harold Miller; siblings, Gerald and Crystal Willis, and Christopher and Katlin Barth, all of Toledo and Michigan.

Mr. Barth worked with Laware Cleaning Co., and was a graduate of Bedford High School and the Michigan Career and Technical Institute.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at the H.H. Birkenkamp Funeral Home, Trilby Chapel, Toledo. Burial will be at Toledo Memorial Park.

Visitation hours will be noon-3 p.m. Saturday.

Local funeral arrangements are being handled by Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria, and local memorials may be made in care of the Hoening Funeral Home, 242 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria.

Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Jeffery P. Gladish
Former Bellevue resident

Jeffery P. Gladish, 58, of Fort Myers, Fla., and formerly of Bellevue, died Thursday, April 20, 2000, at Health Park Medical Center, Fort Myers.

Arrangements are pending at Foos & Son Funeral Home, Bellevue.

Charles E. Straub
Lifetime area resident

Charles E. Straub, 87, of 4084 SR 100, died at 12:53 a.m. Thursday, April 20, 2000, in Mercy Hospital of Tiffin.

HE was born Nov. 18, 1912, in Tiffin to Henry and Amelia Molly (Kingshirn) Straub.

He married Madelyn Perrine in Portland, Ind., Sept. 4, 1937. She survives, along with five sons, Edward Straub of Bettsville, Charles Simon-Straub of Toledo, Daniel Straub of Traverse City, Mich., David Straub of Caledonia and James Straub of Tiffin; a daughter, Mrs. Donald (Julia) Cahill of Tiffin; 17 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; five brothers, Henry and Lloyd of Tiffin, Robert of Bettsville, Albert of South Carolina, and Clarence of McCutchenville; and six sisters, Florence Creeger of Port Clinton, Helen Randall and Dorothy Lake of Tiffin, Marie Kizer of Bettsville, Rosemary Huff of Fostoria, and Bernice Payne of California.

Preceding him in death were three brothers, William, Paul and Donald.

Mr. Straub was a World War II veteran; a retired carpenter; a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Fraternal Order of Eagles, and United Brotherhood Carpenters and Joiners Union.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, with Monsignor Richard Dunn officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph cemetery, where the United Veterans Council will conduct a service at 2 p.m.

Visitation will be Monday from noon until the time of the service at the church.

The Turner-Engle Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Hestor F. Black
National Machinery retiree

Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mary Catholic Church for Hestor F. Black, 86, of Tiffin. He died Monday, April 17, 2000, at his residence.

Memorials may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church, Community Hospice Care of Tiffin, or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Maria V. Gaietto
Homemaker

Maria V. Gaietto, 81, of 41 Rosewood Dr. died at 3:50 p.m. Tuesday, April 18, 2000, at St. Charles Mercy Hospital.

She was born Feb. 14, 1919, in Joliet, Ill., to Justin and Lucy (Gaietto) Tapparo. She married Michael D. Gaietto in St. Mary Catholic Church, Tiffin, May 25, 1949. He died March 15, 1984.

Survivors include: two sons, James M. and Christopher A., both of Tiffin; two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Patricia) Stiverson of Tiffin and Mrs. Stephen (Marilyn) Werling of San Antonio, Texas; 12 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; three brothers, Dominic Tapparo of Valley Stream, N.Y., Joseph Tapparo of Yonkers, N.Y., and Gino Tapparo of Ivera, Italy; and two sisters, Cicilla Tapparo of Flushing, N.Y., and Justina Spagnoli of Long Beach, N.Y.

In 1927 Mrs. Gaietto went to Italy and lived there until 1939. She lived in New York for 10 years and in Tiffin for 51 years. She was a homemaker and a member of the St. Mary Catholic Church.

The rosary will be recited at 9:45 a.m. followed by the funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the St. Mary Catholic Church, with the Rev. William Rose officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary cemetery.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday in the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home, where a Christian Wake Service will be at 8:45.

Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association, the Children of Bangladesh Fund c/o Father Robert Depinet, or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Loren E. Snider
Retired sanitarian

Loren E. Snider, 70, of 356 Walker St., died at 12:16 p.m. Friday, April 21, 2000, in St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center where he had been a patient for four weeks.

Mr. Snider was born Oct. 29, 1929, in Richwood to Elmer and Alice Marie (Spencer) Snider. He grew up in Forest and had lived in Tiffin since 1953. He married Ruth Graham May 10, 1951, in the Methodist Church in Forest. She survives.

Also surviving are: a son, Dean A. of Denmark, Ohio; a daughter, Deborah Osborn of Tiffin; three grandchildren; a brother, Robert, of Forest; and two sisters, Patricia Morrison of Marion and Dolly Rodman of Forest.

Preceding him in death were a son, Douglas E., who died in 1974 at 18 years of age; and three brothers, Burton, Donald and Lee J.

Mr. Snider was a 1947 graduate of Forest High School, an Army Infantry veteran of the Korean Conflict, a member of the First Lutheran Church of Tiffin and a barber for 24 years at the Varsity Barber Shop in Tiffin. He retired as the administrative sanitarian for the Seneca County General Health Department after 24 years.

The Rev. Richard Hofmann will conduct the funeral at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the First Lutheran Church. Military graveside services will be conducted by the United Veterans Council in the Seneca Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at the Turner-Engle Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the First Lutheran Church.

Michael A. Waltermyer
Seneca Wire retiree

Michael A. Waltermyer, 50, of 1212 42nd St., Fostoria, died at 2:18 a.m. Friday, April 21, 2000, in the Medical College of Ohio Hospital.

He was born July 26, 1949, to George L. and Lillian (LaFountaine) Waltermyer. He married Helen Cole Aug. 8, 1984, in Fostoria. She survives.

Also surviving are: two sons, Harold L. of Columbus and Jonathon G. of Fostoria; two stepsons, George N. Loy and Glenn E. Loy, both of Fostoria; a daughter, Tonya K. Waltermyer of Fostoria; a stepdaughter, Ginger R. Loy of Fostoria; three grandchildren; a brother, Dennis R. of Fostoria; three sisters, Karen S. Williamson, Lori E. Waltermyer, and Mrs. Dennis (Cheryl) Payton, all of Mt. Gilead.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a son, Ronald.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving in the Vietnam War, and was a wire cutter at Seneca Wire for 23 years, retiring in 1998.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, in the Knollcrest cemetery, near Arcadia, with the Pastor Vince Lyons officiating. Military graveside rites by the United Veterans of Fostoria.

Visitation will be private.

Memorials may be made to Seneca County Veterans Services, c/o Mann-Hare Funeral Home, 407 N. Countyline St., Fostoria.

Orrin Burdell Fritz
Former Green Springs resident

Orrin Burdell Fritz, 68, of CR 78, Gibsonburg, died Friday morning, April 21, at his home after being ill for one and one-half years.

Mr. Fritz was born Oct. 24, 1931, in Green Springs to George W. and Florence M. (Miller) Fritz. On Dec. 15, 1951, he married Erma Lee Dillow in Fremont. She survives.

Other survivors include: his mother of Green Springs; a son, Burdell Wayne of Gibsonburg; two daughters, Debra Huber of Fremont and Donna Misner of Clyde; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, the Rev. Geraland Fritz of Fremont; and a sister, Loretta Wise of Tiffin.

Preceding him in death were his father and an infant son, Daryl Lee.

Graduating in 1949 from the Ross High School, he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War; was a carpenter for several area contractors; a member of the Full Gospel Church, Tiffin; and a former member of the American Legion Post 17, Gibsonburg.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. today at the Nopper-Veh Funeral Home, 319 W. Madison St., Gibsonburg.

Visitation will be today from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the funeral at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the family, to Hospice of Sandusky County, or to the church.

Francis Bruggeman
Former Bellevue resident

Francis Bruggeman, 87, formerly of 125 Kinney St., Bellevue, died Friday, April 21, 2000, in the emergency room of the Providence Hospital, Sandusky.

He was born Oct. 14, 1912, in Clyde to John B. and Esther (Vale) Bruggeman.

He is survived by three sisters, Anne Fritz of Collins, Esther Cox and Agnes Moffet, both of Fullerton, Calif.

Preceding him in death were two brothers, John Jr. and the Rev. Sylvester.

Mr. Bruggeman was an Army veteran, serving in World War II; a security guard for Johnson Products; a member of the Immaculate Conception Church, Knights of Columbus, American Legion Post 46, and Eagles Arie 490.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Immaculate Conception Church, Bellevue, with the the Rev. Robert Tuccheri officiating. Intermet will be in Bellevue Catholic cemetery.

Calling hours will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at the Foos and Son Funeral Home, 311 W. Main St., Bellevue, where the Rosary will be recited at 3 p.m.

Memorials may be made to Immaculate Conception Church.

Carol A. Smith
Fostoria homemaker

Carol A. Smith, 56, of Liberty Street, Fostoria, died at her residence at 10 p.m. Friday, April 21, 2000.

She was born in Monterville, W.Va., Sept. 23, 1943, to the late Charles E. and Pansy E. (Helmick) Peters. On June 19, 1964, in Brady Gate, W.Va., she married Ernest A. Smith, who survives.

Other survivors include: five brothers, Jim and Harry Peters of Fostoria, Roger Peters of Alvada, Charles Peters of Cleveland and Robert Peters of Balley Head, W.Va.; a half-brother, Johnnie Bennett of Balley Head; and five sisters, Nancy Stein, Sue Eddington and Mary Miller, all of Fostoria, Betty Welch and Cathy Crumm, both of Balley Head.

Also preceding her in death were a brother, William Peters, and three sisters, Dorothy Brown, Velma Fouts and Helda May Peters.

A homemaker, Mrs. Smith was a member of Trinity United Brethren Church, Fostoria.

The Rev. Keith Davis will be the officiant at the 10:30 a.m. Tuesday service in the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria. Burial will be in Fountain cemetery, Fostoria.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the church.

Thomas H. Warnement
Seneca County Highway Dept. retiree

Thomas H. Warnement, 71, died at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, April 22, 2000, at his home at 885 S. TR 15.

He was born in Tiffin, May 17, 1928, to Paul R. and Marian (Sexton) Warnement. His father survives in Tiffin. On Sept. 9, 1950, in St. Mary Catholic Church, Tiffin, he married Margaret C. "Peg" Wurm, who survives.

Other survivors include: two sons, Kevin Warnement of Tiffin and Brad Warnement of Republic; three daughters, Deborah Hoerig, Mrs. Larry (Diana) Warnement-Hunter and Mrs. Michael (Carol) Dell, all of Tiffin; a brother, Richard Warnement of Tiffin; nine grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

His mother; a son, Tom Warnement II; a brother, Ed Warnement; and a son-in-law, are deceased.

Mr. Warnement, a 1947 graduate of Calvert High School, retired as a heavy equipment operator from the Seneca County Highway Department, where he had been employed for 47 years. He also was engaged in farming.

A U.S. Army veteran, he was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Farm Bureau, Calvert Alumni Association, Calvert Boosters and the Columbian Boosters. He also was an avid Notre Dame fan.

The Rev. James K. Say and the Rev. Frank A. Murd will be the concelebrants at the 11 a.m. Wednesday funeral Mass in St. Joseph Catholic Church. The Rosary will be recited at the church at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Tuesday in the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home, where a wake service will be at 8:45 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the Linda Wurm Scholarship Fund, St. Joseph Activity Center, Calvert Tuition Fund or the donor's choice.
