Ralph H. 'Bud' Weaver
ODA retiree/vo-ag teacher

Ralph H. "Bud" Weaver, 75, of Sandusky CR 36, Kansas, Ohio, was pronounced dead on arrival at Fostoria Community Hospital Sunday evening, May 21, 2000.

He was born April 27, 1925, in Fostoria, to Ralph K. and Verdie (Howard) Weaver. On Dec. 1, 1956, in Fostoria, he married Lois Stiffler. She survives.

Survivors also include: two sons, John H. Weaver of Columbus and James "Tod" Weaver of Lonsdale, Minn.; a sister, Nancy Stratton of Columbus; and three grandchildren.

A 1943 graduate of Jackson Liberty High School, he attended Ohio State University for two years.

Mr. Weaver, who had worked at the Autolite in Fostoria for 15 years; was a dairy farmer with Ayrshire cattle until 1970 and retired from the Ohio Department of Agriculture in 1988. He also taught vocational agriculture for two years and served as a substitute teacher in the Sandusky County Schools for 16 years.

A member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Fostoria, he enjoyed raising and showing Bantam chickens the past several years.

He was a member of the American Bantam Association and a former member of the Sandusky County Sheep Association.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Nopper-Veh Funeral Home, Gibsonburg. Burial will be in Quinshan cemetery, Gibsonburg.

Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Arthritis Foundation or the Sandusky County Junior Fair Sheep Building.

Mary E. Dirmeyer
Homemaker/dairy store manager

Mary E. Dirmeyer, 92, of SH 182, Upper Sandusky, died at 9:24 a.m. Saturday, May 20, 2000, in Wyandot Memorial Hospital, Upper Sandusky.

She was born in Sycamore, Dec. 29, 1907, to Charles C. and Lottie T. (Tooley) Wolford. Her husband, Walter W. Dirmeyer, whom she married Nov. 27, 1945, in Sycamore, survives.

Other survivors include: a son, Charles W. Dirmeyer of Upper Sandusky; three grandchildren, David of Union City, Alena of Trenton and Wesley of Tiffin; and two great-grandchildren.

The last of her family, a brother, Edgar; and three sisters, Cora, Mae and Glena, also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Dirmeyer, a homemaker, managed the Dairy Store and Ice Cream Parlor in Upper Sandusky and assisted her husband on the family farm.

She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ and a 65-year member of the Pythian Sisters Lodge, Nevada.

She enjoyed eating out, traveling and flower and vegetable gardening.

The Rev. Cathy Wirth will be the officiant at the 11 a.m. Wednesday service in the Bringman Clark and Company Funeral Home, Upper Sandusky. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery, Upper Sandusky.

Visitation is 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the church, the Pythian Sisters Lodge or a charity of the donor's choice.

Wanda L. Hunter
Nursing home retiree

Wanda L. Hunter, 66, of 14228 TH 27, Carey, died at 7:40 p.m. Monday, May 22, 2000, in Winebrenner Village, Findlay.

She was born in Wirt County, W.Va., Nov. 18, 1933, to the late Cecil L. and Laura S. (Brown) Full. On Nov. 20, 1954, in Center Valley Church, PeeWee, W.Va., she married Howard D. Hunter. He survives.

Survivors also include: four children, James R. Hunter, Mrs. Daniel (Connie S.) Walter, Thomas E. Hunter and Mrs. Richard (Christine A.) Williams, all of Carey; eight grandchildren; three brothers, Bobby J. Full of Parkersburg, W.Va., Lewis Full of Elizabeth, W.Va. and Billy Full of Mineral Wells, W.Va.; and a sister, Karen Sue McFee of Northwest Palm Bay, Fla.

A grandson, also is deceased.

Mrs. Hunter, retired from the Wyandot County Nursing Home, Upper Sandusky, after 15 years of service and most recently was its activities coordinator.

A graduate of Wirt County High School, W.Va., she attended Glenville College, Glenville, W.Va.

A member of Memorial United Methodist Church, Carey and its United Methodist Women, she taught Sunday School for many years.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Memorial United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Paul Goetz and the Rev. Cynthia Morrison co-officiating. Burial will be in Spring Grove cemetery, Carey.

Visitation will be 2-5 and 6-9 p.m. Wednesday in the Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, Carey, and at the church one hour prior to the service on Thursday.

Memorials may be made to Dorcas Carey Public Library, Wyandot County Nursing Home Activities Fund or the church, in care of the Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, 225 W. Findlay St., Carey, Ohio 43316-1169.

Alvin M. Skilliter
Former Whirlpool employee

Alvin M. Skilliter, 70, of Spring Street, Clyde, died Tuesday, May 23, 2000, in the Arbors of Clyde.

He was born July 3, 1929, in Fremont, to Thomas and Emma (Wott) Skilliter. He had never married .

Survivors include: a brother, Willis Skilliter of Clyde; a sister, Bernice Kleber of Fremont; three nieces, two nephews and a great-nephew.

A sister, Maralyn Skilliter, also preceded him in death.

Mr. Skilliter, a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict, had been employed in the plastics department at Clyde Whirlpool.

A 1947 graduate of Clyde High School, he was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Clyde.

The Rev. Gerry Gosnell will be the officiant at the 1 p.m. Thursday service in St. Paul Lutheran Church. Interment will be in McPherson cemetery, Clyde.

Visitation is 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. today in the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, Clyde.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church Endowment Fund or the Kidney Foundation.

Marilyn Marie Runion
Retired school employee/artist

Marilyn Marie Runion, 61, of 1527 E. Main Cross St., Findlay, died at 9:07 p.m. Monday, May 22, 2000, in Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center, Findlay.

She was born in Tiffin, Jan. 27, 1939, to the late Roy and Wanda (Orians) Mathias. On May 9, 1961, in Fostoria, she married Jack E. Runion, who survives in Findlay.

Other survivors include: three sons, Leslie J. Mathias of Hampton, Va. and Todd C. and Timothy M. Runion, both of Fostoria; three daughters, Mrs. Rob (Roxann) Bilger of Houston, Texas, Mrs. Mark (Maria M.) Lawarre of Findlay and Mrs. Randy (Jackie) Emans of Bowling Green; 10 grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. John (Carol June) Coleman of Clifton, Va. and Mrs. Robert (Donna R.) Decker of Findlay; and a brother, Gene L. "Butch" Mathias, also of Findlay.

Mrs. Runion, who had attended Calvert High School, retired from the Fostoria City Schools and was a self-taught artist.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria. Burial will be in Fountain cemetery, Fostoria.

Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to a local Hospice organization.

Mavis Terhune Pollock
Retired Seneca Co. librarian

Mavis Terhune Pollock, 85, died at 3:20 p.m. Monday, May 22, 2000, at her home in Tiffin.

She was born in Babylon, N.Y., Oct. 17, 1914, to John Robbins and Amy Marguerite (Deady) Higbie. Her husband, John Edward Pollock, whom she married Sept. 12, 1948, in New York, N.Y., preceded her in death Jan. 3, 1995.

Survivors include: two nieces, Linda Higbie of Uniontown, Ohio and Carol Lupinacci of Dothan, Ala.; an aunt, five great nieces and nephews and 10 great nieces and nephews.

Two brothers, John Richard and Arthur H. Higbie, also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Pollock, a resident of Tiffin since 1953, worked for social agencies in New York City and American Cyanamid Corp. She also worked at the Tiffin-Seneca Public Library for 22 years, 1962-84.

She received her bachelor's degree from Vassar College and her graduate studies from Teacher's College of Columbia Univeristy.

A member of the Tiffin Garden Club, Seneca County Historical Society and the Seneca County Genealogical Society, she was formerly active in Tiffin Girl Scouts as troop leader, camp chairman and leader trainer in outdoor activities.

There will be a Committal service and burial at sea.

The Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the Seneca County Humane Society or the Tiffin-Seneca Public Library.

Ed LeForge
Retired Fostoria teacher

Ed LeForge, 70, of Maysville, Ky., died at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 23, 2000, in Meadowview Regional Medical Center, following a battle with cancer.

He was born June 30, 1929, to the late Robert and Della (Garrett) LeForge. In October 1953, he married Joyce Scott, who survives in Simon Kenton Acres, Maysville.

Other survivors include: three sons, Christopher LeForge of Fostoria, Scott LeForge of Akron and Dan LeForge of Mechanicsburg, Pa.; a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Melody) Whitman, also of Fostoria; eight grandchildren and three step-grandchildren; an aunt and numerous nieces and nephews.

A brother, Ronald LeForge, died in 1983.

A 1947 graduate of Maysville High School, where he was a member of the 1947 state basketball champions, Mr. LeForge was a member of the Kentucky State All Stars in the annual game against Indiana.

Also a graduate of Kentucky Wesleyan College in 1951, which he attended on a basketball scholarship, he was a member of its basketball and tennis teams.

Following his college graduation, he served in the U.S. Air Force for four years and then began his teaching and coaching career at West Union High School. He also taught and coached at Aberdeen High School, until the school was consolidated.

Mr. LeForge and his family moved to Fostoria where he continued teaching until his retirement in 1984.

He was a member of the Central United Methodist Church and enjoyed woodworking and furniture building.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Central United Methodist Church, Maysville, with Steve Pescosolido officiating. Burial will follow in Maysville cemetery.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday in the Knox and Brothers Funeral Home, Maysville, and one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Hope, 1 W. McDonald Parkway, Maysville, KY 41056 or the Central United Methodist Church, 912 E. Second St., Maysville.

Edward C. 'Eddie' Ruley
Brother of Tiffin resident

Word has been received of the death Edward C. Ruley of Baltimore, Md., brother of Renee Hook of Tiffin. He died Thursday, May 18, 2000, in Johns Hopkins Hospital.

Survivors include his sister and nieces and nephews.

Four brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.

A 35-year veteran of the Merchant Marine, he was known by his friends for his kindness and generosity and his love for animals.

His body was cremated and his ashes buried at sea. A memorial service took place in Maryland.

Norman L. Eberhard
France Stone Co. retiree

Norman L. Eberhard, 75, of Seneca CR 21, Clyde, died Wednesday, May 24, 2000, at his residence.

He was born Jan. 28, 1925, in Bellevue to Vernie L. and Hazel S. (Mackling) Eberhard. On April 28, 1951, he married Joan E. Leichty, who survives.

Survivors also include: two sons, Philip L. Eberhard of Clyde and Lynn J. Eberhard of Bellevue; two daughters, Mrs. Wayne (Corrine) Ross of Green Springs and Mrs. Jay (Hazel) Baker of Worthington; eight grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Robert (Margaret N.) Schriner of Bellevue and Mrs. Walter (Lois F.) Weller of Tiffin.

A brother, Ellis Eberhard, died in infancy.

Mr. Eberhard, a 1943 graduate of Thompson High School, retired from the France Stone Co. in 1990. He also was a self-employed farmer.

He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Seneca CR 21, Republic.

The Rev. Paul Long will be the officiant at the 10:30 a.m. Saturday service in Zion Lutheran Church. Interment will be in Lay-Butternut Ridge cemetery.

Visitation will be 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, Clyde.

Memorials may be made to the church..

Robert W. Crain
Retired OBES manager

Robert W. Crain, 80, of Cory Street, Fostoria, died at 5:40 p.m. Wednesday, May 24, 2000, at Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center.

He was born June 7, 1919, in Bascom to Bert and Nina (Hoffman) Crain. He married Anna M. Greenfield Nov. 27, 1949, in Fostoria. She survives in Fostoria.

He was: a 1937 graduate of Fostoria High School and attended Tiffin Business University; a World War II U.S. Army veteran; retired in 1981 as the manager of the Ohio Bureau of Employment Services in Fostoria and Tiffin with 30 years of service; a member of the High Street United Methodist Church in Fostoria, the Fostoria VFW, and AARP.

Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Emma Pillars Addition of Fountain cemetery in Fostoria with the Rev. Jeffrey L. Waite and the Rev. James T. Mussman officiating.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
