George Gribben
Owner of Gribben's Plumbing & Heating of Sycamore

George Gribben, 82, of 126 1/2 South Sycamore Ave., Sycamore, died at 3:15 p.m., Thursday. He was born July 3, 1917 to John Ray and Pearl (Stover) Gribben. On April 23, 1938 he married Helen M. Rapp, and she survives.

Other survivors include: four daughters, Mrs. Virginia Weininger, and Mrs. Jean Konkle, both of Sycamore, Mrs. Jana Kuenzli of Nevada, and Mrs. Peggy Sandridge of Upper Sandusky; ten grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and a great-great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by: a sister, Mrs. Katherine Benson.

Mr. Gribben was a Sycamore High School graduate. He is the owner of Gribben's Plumbing & Heating of Sycamore for 55 years, member of: Sycamore United Church of Christ; United States Trotting Association; former member of Upper Sandusky Elks Lodge 83; Wyandot County Horseman's Association; and Seneca County Horseman's Association; social member of Sycamore American Legion Post 250; Enterprise lodge 579 F & A.M., Sycamore. His hobby was raising and racing standard bred race horses.

The Rev. Edgar W. Shelly will officiate the 3 p.m., Sunday funeral service at the Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore. Burial will be at the Pleasant Ridge cemetery, Sycamore.

Visitation hours are from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and/or Sycamore united Church of Christ.

Dorothy Jeanette Rohrbach
Former Tiffin resident

Dorothy Jeanette Rohrbach, 90, formerly of 498 E. Market St., died at 11 p.m. Thursday, June 1, 2000, at Ruffing Family Care Center, Bloomville.

Mrs. Rohrbach was born Feb. 7, 1910, in Wood County to Jacob Richard and Sarah Etta (Yant) Smith. She married Henry R. (Hank) Rohrbach Dec. 15, 1966, in Tiffin and he died March 15, 1993.

Survivors include: two stepsons, William T. Rohrbach of Tiffin and Eugene F. Rohrbach of Lecantro, Fla.; five nephews, Bruce and Eugene Smith of Michigan, Harry Smith Jr. of Tiffin, James Smith of Tennessee, and Robert Smith of Akron; three nieces, Mrs. Jack (Betty Lou) Benson of Michigan, Mrs. Glenn (Janie) Williams and Mrs. Donald (Patti) Gibson of Tiffin; numerous step grandchildren; and several stepgreat-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were two stepsons, Robert J. Rohrbach and Charles H. Rohrbach; three brothers, Clayton Smith, Harry Smith and Melvin Smith; and a nephew, Bill Smith.

She was a welder during World War II, a telephone operator in Old Fort and retired in 1966 as a receptionist for Dr. John Gedert in Clyde; a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Senior Citizens, Senior Community Center, and Kiwanis Manor.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Monday at the Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home with the Rev. Gail Angel officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Union cemetery, Old Fort.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the St. Paul's United Methodist Church or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Bruce E. Meade
Pro motorcycle racer

Bruce E. Meade, 32, of 1021 CR 37, Fremont, died at 2 a.m., Friday, June 2, 2000, in the emergency room of the Fremont Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Meade was born Nov. 19, 1967, to Daniel T. Meade and Carol J. (Butzier) Gannon. They survive at 4475 Darr Rd., Fremont, and 96 Third Ave., Tiffin, respectively.

Other survivors include: a son, Trevor J. Meade of Fremont; a brother, Aaron Meade of Fremont; three stepbrothers, Michael Leady of Risingsun, Gary Leady of Florida and Dan Leady of Luckey; grandparents, Mrs. Mark Hamilton of Fort Seneca and Mrs. Marjorie Butzier of Kansas.

He was a 1986 graduate of Old Fort High School; spent most of his life in the Old Fort area; was a mechanic at Tod Motors, Fremont; and raced motorcycles professionally.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Turner-Engle Funeral Home with the Rev. Jon Bravinder officiating and burial in the Pleasant Union cemetery, old Fort.

Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 Monday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Son-Trevor Meade, c/o of Old Fort Banking Co.

Beverly L. Bussell
Findlay resident

Memorial services for Beverly L. (Jarbis) Bussell will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Disabled American Veterans, 201 Front St., Findlay.

Pauline D. Bowman
Bellevue homemaker

Pauline D. Bowman, 95, died Friday, June 2, 2000, at her residence at 611 W. Gardner St., Bellevue, following a long illness.

She was born in Fostoria, Nov. 27, 1904, to Louis and Jane (Van Waggner) Peltier. Her husband, Gailard R. Bowman, also is deceased.

Surviving are a daughter, Stephanie Eisenhauer of Bellevue, seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

A daughter, Patricia Palmer, is deceased.

Mrs. Bowman, a homemaker, attended Tiffin University. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Bellevue, and enjoyed playing bridge.

Services in Foos and Son Funeral Home, Bellevue, will be private.

There will be no visitation.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

John Abraham 'Abe' Hetzel
Cooper Tire employee

John Abraham "Abe" Hetzel, 25, of 4991 CH 16, Sycamore, died at about 6 p.m. Friday, June 2, 2000, north of Mexico, Ohio on TR 28.

He was born in Tiffin, July 12, 1974, to Ronald L. and Kristi M. (Loy) Hetzel, who survive.

Other survivors include: his paternal grandmother, Alta Hetzel of Upper Sandusky; maternal grandparents, Clayson and Irene Loy of Tiffin and his fiance, Debra Lynn Smalley of Carey.

A 1993 graduate of Mohawk High School, where he was active in cross country and the wrestling team, he had been a member of the choir and a National Machinery Citizenship recipient.

Mr. Hetzel had worked for the former Hetzel Tree Service, Tiffin and at Worthington Custom Plastics Industry, Upper Sandusky for four years. He had just began to work at Cooper Tire in Findlay.

A former H.O.G. member, he was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Upper Sandusky, which he attended regularly and the American Motorcycle Association. He also had been a member of the Almost Anything Goes 4-H Club.

His hobbies included camping, boating, fishing, snow sking, riding his Harley-Davidson, snowmobiling in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, jet sking and his 1970 Chevy Nova which he had restored.

Pastor Jerry Elsholz, the Rev. Ernest Waechter and Brother Bruno will be the officiants at the 10:30 a.m. Wednesday service in St. Paul Lutheran Church. Interment will be in Pleasant Ridge cemetery, Sycamore.

Visitation will be 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday in the Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.

Memorials may be made to the church, the Muscular Dystrophy Association or the Wyandot County 4-H Endowment Fund.

Robert J. Dayton
Sterling Abrasives retiree

Robert J. Dayton, 80, formerly of 278 Wentz St., died at 11:55 a.m. Saturday, June 3, 2000, in the Autumnwood Care Center.

He was born Oct. 17, 1919, in Tiffin, to Leroy and Ada (Blott) Dayton. On June 6, 1939, in Frankfort, Ky., he married Lorenia Locker, who survives.

Survivors also include: a son, James R. Dayton of Sycamore; two daughters, Mrs. Larry (Bobbie) Molyett and Mrs. Larry (Carolyn) Laugherty, both of Tiffin; two brothers, Warren W. and Kenneth Dayton, both of Tiffin; a sister, Mrs. Donald (Vivian) Seislove, also of Tiffin; seven grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

A sister, Marjorie Ferguson, is deceased.

A World War II U.S. Army veteran, Mr. Dayton retired as a sander from Sterling Abrasives.

He was a member of the Protestant faith.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dr. Robert E. Buckley officiating. Burial will be in Seneca Memory Gardens.

Visitation is 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Tiffin-Seneca Alzheimer's Support Group or a charity of the donor's choice.

Stephen Hartman
Former Tiffin resident

Stephen Hartman, 50, of 3715 W. Tacon St., Tampa, Fla., died at 2:25 p.m. Friday, June 2, 2000, in Vencor Central Hospital, Tampa, following an extended illness.

He was born in Tiffin, Feb. 8, 1950, to Norman and Marilyn (Weisheit) Hartman. His mother, now Mrs. Richard Seitz, survives in Tiffin. He never married .

Other survivors include: three brothers, James and Daniel Hartman, both of Tiffin and Michael Hartman of Westerville; a step-brother, Alan Seitz of Westerville; a niece and four nephews, and his long-time friend, Jeff Fugere of Tampa.

His father is deceased.

A 1968 graduate of Calvert High School and a 1972 graduate of Tiffin University, Mr. Hartman had been employed as an accountant. He had lived in Tampa since 1985.

Memorials services will take place in Tampa and his ashes will be buried in St. Joseph cemetery in Tiffin at a later date.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

The Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

Dwight L. Lear
Conrail Railroad retiree

Dwight L. Lear, 70, of 9711 CH 111 Apt. 1, Upper Sandusky, died at 2:58 a.m. Sunday, June 4, 2000, in Wyandot Memorial Hospital, Upper Sandusky.

He was born in Wyandot County, Feb. 12, 1930, to John W. and Margaret A. (Karg) Lear. His wife, Charlotte M. (Vail) Lear, whom he married Feb. 2, 1954, in Frankford, Ind., survives.

Survivors also include: a brother, Paul V. Lear, and a sister, Mrs. Betty E. Oney, both of Upper Sandusky; and several nieces and nephews.

A daughter, Teresa Ann Lear;, eight brothers and four sisters are deceased.

Mr. Lear retired in 1991 after 46 years of employment with the Conrail Railroad Co.

He formerly attended the Faith in Christ Christian Church, Upper Sandusky and enjoyed fishing, working on cars, traveling and visiting with his family.

The Rev. Milo Johnston will conduct the 1:30 p.m. Wednesday service in the Bringman Clark and Company Funeral Home, Upper Sandusky. Interment will be in Old Mission cemetery, Upper Sandusky.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Apostolic Full Gospel Church, in care of the Bringman Clark and Company Funeral Home, P.O. Box 246, Upper Sandusky, Ohio 43351 or the Dwight L. Lear Fund, also in care of the funeral home.

Elizabeth J. Kercher
Clyde homemaker

Elizabeth J. Kercher, 73, died Sunday, June 4, 2000, at her residence at 632 Vine St., Clyde, following a long illness.

She was born in Bellevue, Oct. 9, 1926, to the late George J. and Leona E. (Coy) Paul. On June 26, 1982, she married Fred Kercher. He died in 1992.

Survivors include: two sons, Kenneth G. and Alan L.Winke, both of Clyde; a daughter, Carol S. VanFleet, also of Clyde; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A brother, Roy E. Paul, also is deceased.

Mrs. Kercher, a graduate of Bellevue High School, was a homemaker and also worked as a waitress.

She was a former member of the Eagles Auxiliary and Ladies of the Moose, both of Clyde.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Foos-Klein Funeral Home, Clyde, with Roger A. Miller officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, Clyde.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Memorial Hospital, Clyde, or the American Cancer Society.

Linda Louise Moyers
Carey housewife

Linda Louise Moyers, 49, of 315 Grove St., Carey, died at 9:15 a.m. Sunday, June 4, 2000, in Wyandot Memorial Hospital, Upper Sandusky.

She was born in Tiffin, March 4, 1951, to Ransom B. and Viola M. (Vaughn) Fletcher. They survive. On July 8, 1967, in Grove Street Tabernacle Church, Carey, she married Billy J. Moyers, who also survives.

Other survivors include: a son, Scott A. Moyers of Carey; a daughter, Mrs. Charles A. (Jody L.) Jones of Findlay; three grandchildren; two brothers, Randy and Dennis Fletcher, both of Carey; and a sister, Mrs. Jarrell (Phyllis) Buck of South Charleston, Ohio.

Mrs. Moyers was a housewife.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Harvest Time Chapel, Vanlue, with the Rev. Robert Dye officiating. Burial will be in Spring Grove cemetery, Carey.

Visitation will be 2-9 p.m. Tuesday in the Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, Carey and at the church one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice, in care of the Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, 225 W. Findlay St., Carey, Ohio 43316-1169.

Lowell F. Sorenson
Father of Tiffin resident

Lowell F. Sorenson, 90, formerly of 1325 Shady Lane, Findlay, died Sunday, June 4, 2000, in the Fox Run Manor, Findlay, where he resided.

He was born Nov. 9, 1909, in Marquette, Mich., to Frank and Nellie (Wilson) Sorenson. On Dec. 25, 1937, in Marquette, he married Viola H. Peterson, who survives.

Survivors also include: a daughter, Mrs. Lewis (Carol) Campbell of Tiffin; a son, David Sorenson of Hudson; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and a brother, Clyde Sorenson of Marquette.

Mr. Sorenson, a former Kiwanis Club member, worked in sales for Cooper Tire for more than 25 years, retiring in 1975. After his retirement he obtained his real estate/broker's license and sold real estate.

He was a member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church, where he served as a volunteer for many years.

The Rev. Lowell Reeder will be the officiant at the 11 a.m. Wednesday service in the Routson Funeral Chapel, 201 Osborn Ave., Findlay. Burial will be in Knollcrest Gardens (formerly Memory Gardens),. near Arcadia.

Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Medical College of Ohio Urology Department or the West Central Kidney Foundation, 1001 Bellefontaine Ave., Lima, OH 45804.
