Clarence 'Skeeter' Miller
ITT Abrasive retiree

Clarence "Skeeter" Miller, 80, died Friday, June 16, 2000, at his home at 10 Gibson Court.

He was born June 17, 1919, in Delaware, Ohio, to Clarence J. and Katherine (Swickheimer) Miller. His wife, Lois (Baker) Miller, whom he married July 3, 1948, in St. Paul's Methodist Church, Tiffin, died Jan. 7, 1991.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Kenneth (Jan) Foy of Tiffin; two grandchildren; and a brother, Robert J. Miller of Clearwater, Fla.

A brother, Ellis Miller, preceded him in death.

Mr. Miller, a 1937 graduate of Willis High School, Delaware, and a 1948 graduate of Heidelberg College, retired as manager of product engineering from ITT Abrasive.

A U.S. Air Force veteran, having served in World War II and the Korean Conflict, he retired as a Lieutenant Colonel.

He was a life member of Tiffin Elks 94, the Kiwanis Club, H-Association (of Heidelberg College), Columbian Boosters, Bombardiers Association, Swiss Interness Association and the 8th Air Force Historical Society.

Mr. Miller ran the "chain gang" for football games for more than 30 years for Columbian High School and 40 years for Heidelberg College. He also was a member of Washington Street United Methodist Church and the Elks and Seneca Hills Retirees Golf Leagues.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Turner-Engle Funeral Home, with the Rev. Larry P. Smith officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn cemetery, where the United Veterans Council will conduct military graveside services.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the church.

Nina E. Tooman
Homemaker/retired housekeeper

Nina E. Tooman, 89, of 300 Highland Parkway, Upper Sandusky, died at 2:53 p.m. Friday, June 16, 2000, in Wyandot Memorial Hospital, Upper Sandusky.

She was born Sept. 14, 1910, in Wyandot County, to Milton Harrison and Mary Gertrude (Altvater) Chadwick. On April 1, 1933, in Upper Sandusky, she married Irvin L. Tooman. He preceded her in death Jan. 23, 1984.

Survivors include: two sons, Gene Tooman of Bucyrus and Jack Tooman of Broken Sword; a daughter, Mrs. Don (Nancy) Eudy of Durham, N.C.; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three brothers, George Chadwick of Findlay, Milton Chadwick of Upper Sandusky and Marion Chadwick of California; and two sisters, Goldie Hansen of Bowling Green and Mary Evelyn Scheck of Danville.

Two brothers, Kenneth and Lawrence, and a sister, Florence Chadwick, also are deceased.

Mrs. Tooman, a homemaker, retired as a housekeeper from Wyandot Memorial Hospital. She also worked for the former Rice and Scheck's Market (now Willson's Grocery Store) in Upper Sandusky.

A 1928 graduate of Upper Sandusky High School, she was a member of Wildwood Chapel Church and Wyandot County Senior Citizens, both of Upper Sandusky. She enjoyed playing cards and fishing.

The Rev. Ronald Renauro will be the officiant at the 3 p.m. Tuesday service in the Bringman Clark and Co. Funeral Home, Upper Sandusky. Interment will be in Old Mission cemetery, Upper Sandusky.

Visitation will be one hour before the service Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the church or Hospice of Wyandot County, in care of the Bringman Clark and Co. Funeral Home, 226 E. Wyandot Ave., Upper Sandusky 43351.

Hazel E. Moyer
Northern Ohio Telephone retiree

Hazel E. Moyer, 81, of Bellevue, died Sunday, June 18, 2000, in the Bellevue Care Center.

She was born June 30, 1918. Her husband, Lawrence John Moyer Sr., whom she married Jan. 28, 1939, preceded her in death.

Survivors include: a son, Lawrence J. Moyer Jr. of Castalia; two daughters, Lois Binger of Clyde and Gladys Newman of Toledo; 14 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Charles Soule of Clyde and James Soule of Vickery; and four sisters, Mabel Hunter and Mrs. Wayne (Betty) Roth, both of Sandusky, Mrs. George (Lynette) Spitler of Clyde and Mrs. Roy (Donna) Aspden of Fremont.

Also preceding her in death were her parents; two sisters, Esther and Luella; and three grandchildren.

Mrs. Moyer delivered the Sandusky Register for six years after her retirement in 1969, from Northern Ohio Telephone, later GTE.

An active member of the Four County Young at Heart Club, she also was a member of the First Baptist Church, Bellevue and its American Baptist Women.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the First Baptist Church. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, Clyde.

Visitation is 7-9 p.m. today and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday in the Foos and Son Funeral Home, Bellevue. The body also will lie in state after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Memorial Hospital, Clyde, or the church.

Robin L. Lieske
Truck driver

Robin L. Lieske, 56, of Kilbourne Street, Bellevue, died Saturday, June 17, 2000, in the Medical College of Ohio Hospital, Toledo.

He was born Jan. 22, 1944, in Cleveland, to the late Julius and Harriett (Havener) Lieske. On Oct. 17, 1964, he married Sandra Weller, who survives.

Other survivors include: two sons, Christopher Robin Lieski of Green Springs and Troy Lieski of Fremont; a daughter, Mrs. Stewart (Dana) Smith of Bellevue; eight grandchildren and two step-grandchildren; two brothers, Merryl Lieske of Green Springs and Jeffery Lieske of Helena; and four sisters, Mrs. Robert (Mary) Blausey of Gibsonburg, Mrs. Ronald (Patricia) England of Florida, Mrs. Jeff (Deborah) Zimmerman of Bowling Green and Mrs. Tim (Melinda) Martin of Fremont.

A sister, Judith Ferguson, also is deceased.

Mr. Lieske, a 1963 Thompson High School graduate, was employed as a truck driver for SouthShore Transportation, Sandusky. He formerly worked for KAS.

A resident of the Bellevue area since 1962, coming there from Oak Harbor, he was a member of Zion United Church of Christ, Fireside, the Moose and Eagles, both of Bellevue.

The Rev. Candace Thomas will be the officiant at the 11 am. Wednesday service in Zion United Church of Christ. Interment will be in Fireside cemetery.

Visitation will be 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday in the Auxter-Groff Funeral Home, Bellevue, where Moose and Eagles services will be at 6:45 p.m. and the Green Springs Fire Department service at 7 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the church.

Theresa Leona Kimmet
Tiffin homemaker

Theresa Leona Kimmet, 70, 332 W. Perry St., died at 1:34 a.m. Monday, June 19, 2000, in St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo.

She was born Jan. 23, 1930, in Parkersburg, W.Va., to the late George and Besy (Angle) Harmon. Her husband, Robert A. Kimmet, whom she married July 1, 1950, in St. Andrew Church, Liberty, survives.

Survivors also include: three sons, George H. Kimmet of Pinellas, Fla., Robert E. and Joseph A. Kimmet, both of Tiffin; two daughters, Mrs. Randall (Helen B.) Gillogly of Republic and Mrs. Joel (Donna M.) Frey of Tiffin; a brother, Chester Harmon of Toledo; 18 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

A sister and two brothers, also are deceased.

Mrs. Kimmet, a homemaker, was a member of the Pillar of Faith Church.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home, with Pastor Virgil E. Cole officiating. Burial will be in Seneca Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

John A. Brodman III
Door company employee

John A. Brodman III, 19, died Sunday morning, June 18, 2000, at his residence at 489 N. Third St. Apt. 7, Upper Sandusky.

He was born Aug. 29, 1980, in Marion, to John A. II and Kelly L. (Brewer) Brodman. They survive in rural Upper Sandusky.

Other survivors include: his fiance, Joyce Stanley; paternal grandmother, Mary E. Barber; and three brothers, Kenneth, Marcus and Lucas Brodman. All are of Upper Sandusky.

Mr. Brodman had been employed at the Diamond Roll Up Door Co., Upper Sandusky, and at Jim Gilliland Farms. He also had worked at the Nathan Frey Hog Farm.

He attended Wynford High School, where he was a member of the track team and the FFA. He also enjoyed painting landscapes, working on his Camaro, listening to music and at one time had played midget league football on the Raiders team.

He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, Upper Sandusky.

The Rev. James Holmer will be the officiant at the 10:30 a.m. Thursday service in the Bringman-Clark and Company Funeral Home, Upper Sandusky. Interment will be in St. Mary's Catholic cemetery, Kirby.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, where a Biblical scripture service will be at 8:45 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the John A. Brodman III Memorial Fund, in care of the Bringman-Clark and Company Funeral Home, P.O. Box 246, Upper Sandusky, OH 43351.

Hattie E. Bechstein
Bellevue resident

Hattie E. Bechstein, 80, formerly of 525 Kilbourne St., Bellevue, died Monday, June 19, 2000, in the Med Central Medical Center, Mansfield.

She was born May 10, 1920, in Bellevue to Oscar C. and Ella M. (Kindred) Boyer. On May 10, 1940, she married Clarence Lewis Bechstein. He is deceased.

Survivors include: three sons, Ernest Lewis Bechstein of Spartanburg, S.C., Charles Arthur Bechstein of Norfolk, Va., and Dennis William Bechstein of Charleston, S.C.; two grandchildren; a niece and two nephews.

Also preceding her in death were a brother, Clarence Kindred; and a sister, Jeanette Link.

Mrs. Bechstein, a former member of the Bellevue Eagles and Fremont Moose Auxiliaries, was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Bellevue; the Bellevue Garden Club, Four County Young at Heart, Firelands Doll Club, the Late Bloomer Doll Club and the National Association of Miniature Enthusiasts.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Foos and Son Funeral Home, Bellevue, with the Rev. David Wietelmann officiating. Burial will be in Bellevue cemetery.

Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the church.

Martin W. 'Dudley' Nissley
Exel employee

Martin W. "Dudley" Nissley, 63, of 334 Elm St., Fostoria, died at 12:40 a.m. Tuesday, June 20, 2000, in the Hospice of Perrysburg.

He was born Nov. 7, 1936, in Pennsylvania, to the late Byron P. and Margaret Nissley. On Jan. 6, 1978, in Fostoria, he married Janette Jane (Hoffman) Ray, who survives in Fostoria.

Other survivors include: five step-daughters, Mrs. Robert (Jan) Caunter of Toledo, Mrs. Linda Augsberger of Pemberville, Mrs. Gary (Cheryl) Adelsperger of Fostoria, Mrs. Stan (Robyn) Blackburn of Bloomdale and Mrs. James (Carole) Lanker, also of Fostoria; a step-son, Robert Ray of Toledo; 11 step-grandchildren; and three sisters, Barbara N. Elder and Debra L. White, both of Harrisburg, Pa. and Emma L. Van Auken of Mechanicsburg, Pa.

A sister, also is deceased.

Mr. Nissley, a graduate of John Harris High School, Harrisburg, currently worked in management at Exel in Fostoria.

A Korean Conflict veteran, having served in the Air Force Medical Corp, he was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Arcadia; the Fostoria Moose, where he served as past governor and its golf league; Zembo Temple of Harrisburg, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Harrisburg, Robert Burns Lodge 464, and Free and Accepted Masons the Harrisburg Consistory.

Pastor David A. Bliss will be the officiant at the 10:30 a.m. Thursday service in Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Fountain cemetery, Fostoria, where military graveside services will be conferred by the United Veterans of Fostoria.

Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today in the Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria and one hour before the service at the church on Thursday. Moose memorial services will be at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Diabetes Foundation and the Alzheimer's Association of Northwest Ohio.

Henry M. Mullins
Retired Bloomville Elem custodian

A memorial graveside service for Henry M. Mullins, 57, of Beeghly Avenue, Bloomville, who died at his home May 26, 2000, following an extended illness, will be at 4 p.m. Friday in Greenlawn cemetery, Tiffin. The Rev. Clarence Mullins will officiate. Memorials may be made to the family, the Bloomville Lions Club or Community Hospice Care of Tiffin. The Lindsey-Olds Funeral Home, Bloomville, is in charge of arrangements.

Marthella Louise Cook
Retired secretary

Former Green Springs resident, Marthella Louise Cook, 78, of 3429 Spring Lake Drive, Findlay, died at 2:22 a.m. Tuesday, June 20, 2000, in Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center, Findlay, where she had been a patient for five days.

She was born Aug. 12, 1921, in Cass County, Ind., to Raymond and Ruth (Pearson) Hicks. On Nov. 16, 1940, in Arcadia, Ind., she married Joseph Vern Cook Jr.,who preceded her in death.

Survivors include: a son, William Cook of Kansas, Ohio; a daughter, Mrs. Sam (Marcia Cook) Bello of Findlay; a grandchild, three step-grandchildren, a great-grandchild, five step-great-grandchildren and two step-great-great-grandchildren.

A brother, John Henry Hicks; and a sister, Delores (Hicks) Leonard, also are deceased.

Mrs. Cook, a graduate of Arcadia High School, Arcadia, Ind., retired as a secretary from Miller Pipeline Corp.

She was a member of Green Springs United Methodist Church and the Phi Beta Psi Sorority and a former member of the Activities Circle and Care Bears organization of the church.

She had resided in Green Springs for four years.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the Engle-Young Funeral Home of Green Springs, with the Rev. James Scott officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Friday (Indiana time) in Crownland cemetery, Noblesville, Ind.

Visitation will be two hours before the servive at the funeral home Thursday.

Memorials may be made to Cancer Patient Services, Findlay, or the church.

Jon C. Brough
High school technology teacher

Jon C. Brough, 38, died Thursday, June 15, 2000, at his home in Tolland, Conn.

He was born Aug. 8, 1961, in Fostoria, to Dr. Gerald and Jo Ann (Simpson:) Brough, who survive in Fostoria. His partner, Evelyn Eisenhardt, survives in Tolland.

Survivors also include: two brothers, Jeffrey D. Brough of Waterville and Jay F. Brough of Fostoria; and a sister, Jessie Jo Segretti of Atlanta, Ga.

Mr. Brough, a 1979 graduate of Fostoria High School, attended the University of Toledo and graduated in 1983 from Bowling Green State University with a bachelor of science degree in communications. He then received his certificate of teaching in 1999 from Central Connecticut University.

He was employed as a high school technology education teacher in Plainville, Conn.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Hope Lutheran Church, Fostoria, with the Rev. Karl Kessler officiating.

There will be no visitation. The Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria, is in charge of local arrangements.

Memorials may be made to North Central Hospice, 8 Keynote Drive, Vernon, Conn. 06107 or the American Cancer Society.
