Samuel A. Hull
Retired farmer
Samuel A. Hull, 84, 1924 W. CR 61, died at 5:30 a.m. Saturday, July 1, 2000, in the Emergency Room of Memorial Hospital, Fremont.
He was born April 14, 1916, in Liberty Township, Seneca County, to Wilbur and Blanche D. (Littler) Hull. His wife, Hazel (Neeley) Hull, whom he married
Oct. 9, 1937, in First Baptist Church, Tiffin, survives.
Survivors also include: a daughter, Mrs. Timothy (Phyllis) Riley of rural Tiffin; a son, Thomas W. Hull, also of rural Tiffin; and eight grandchildren
Preceding him in death were a son, Roger S. Hull, and a sister, Pauline L. Hull.
Mr. Hull, a 1935 graduate of Bettsville High School, retired from farming.
A lifetime Liberty Township resident, he was a member of Zion United Church of Christ, Bettsville, and Tiffin Moose Lodge.
The Rev. Gary L. Adams will be the officiant at the 1 p.m. Monday service in Engle Funeral Home of Bettsville. Burial will be in Pleasant Union cemetery, Old Fort.
Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the church or a charity of the donor's choice.
Irene R. Newberger
Former Fremont resident
Irene R. Newberger, 97, formerly of Buckland Avenue, Fremont, died Saturday, July 1, 2000, in The Arbors of Clyde.
She was born Dec. 19, 1902, in Bellevue, to Jacob and Carrie (Ball) Rauch. Her husband, Clarence Newberger, whom she married
Jan. 22, 1923, in Bellevue, preceded her in death.
Survivors include: a son, Elwood Newberger of Bellevue; a granddaughter, Mrs. Rick (Cynthia) Horn of Bellevue; a great-granddaughter and several nieces and cousins.
Mrs. Newberger, who enjoyed gardening, was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Bellevue, and a former member of Sandusky County Historical Society, Sandusky County Farm Bureau and the Horizon Garden Club and the Farm Women Club, both of Fremont.
Services will be Monday in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with the time pending. Burial will be in Bellevue Catholic cemetery.
Visitation is 7-9 p.m. today in Foos and Son Funeral Home, Bellevue.
Memorials may be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic School.
Bernard A. Holmer
Whirlpool retiree
Bernard A. "Bernie" Holmer, 74, of 13531 E. Seneca CR 36, Republic, died Saturday, July 1, 2000, in the Bellevue Care Center.
He was born April 30, 1926, in Republic, to John and Louisa (Strub) Holmer Jr. On June 30, 1990, in Willard, he married
Norma Hale, who survives in Republic.
Other survivors include: three sons, Robert Holmer of Willard, Larry Holmer of Fremont and Gary Holmer of Republic; four daughters, Janet Barnett of Attica, Brenda Holmer of Bellevue, Sharon Cole of Albion, Mich., and Karen Shafer of Willard; three step-sons, Marvin Hale of Plymouth, Rick Hale of Willard and Randy Hale of North Fairfield; two step-daughters, Beverly Gayheart of Bloomville and Anita Hall of Willard; 19 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; numerous step-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Beard of Mansfield; and his first wife, Frances Holmer of Willard.
He was preceded in death by a son, Leo Holmer; two brothers, Alios and Lawrence; and three sisters, Helen Bertsch, Amelia Brobst and Agnes Stefan.
Mr. Holmer, a World War II U.S. Army veteran, retired in 1988 from Whirlpool Corp., Clyde Division.
He enjoyed playing the guitar and singing.
The service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Lindsey-Foos-Kocher Funeral Service, Attica. Interment will be in Attica-Veneca cemetery, Attica, where military honors will be conducted at the graveside.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Ralph T. Lynch
Avid fisherman
Ralph T. Lynch, 90, formerly of 5137 N. SR 53, died at 5:03 p.m. Saturday, July 1, 2000, in the Bethesda Care Center, Fremont, where he resided.
He was born Feb. 24, 1910, in Harveysburg, Ohio, to David H. and Laura Ann (Owens) Adams Lynch. On March 9, 1936, in Tiffin, he married
Alma Marie Auck, who preceded him in death Feb. 15, 1985.
Survivors include: three sons, Charles Lynch of Fremont and Robert and James Lynch, both of Tiffin; two daughters, Phyllis Boyd of Findlay and Linda Smith of Bettsville; a sister, Edna Carrothers of Green Springs; 14 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
Also preceding him in death were four brothers and three sisters.
Mr. Lynch, a retired Fairmont cemetery superintendent, also worked as a mill operator at Old Fort Elevator 1946-86.
An avid fisherman, he was a member of Tiffin Moose Lodge 846 and the National Grange. He also enjoyed dancing.
A World War II U.S. Navy veteran, he also served in the U.S. Coast Guard.
The Rev. Jerry Wiles will be the officiant at the 10 a.m. Thursday service in the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home. Burial will be in Fairmont cemetery.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, where Moose services will be at 8:30 p.m.
Memorials may be made to Fort Seneca Community United Church of Christ.
James L. Pfrisch
Retired farmer
James L. Pfrisch, 80, died Thursday, June 29, 2000, at his home at1000 Maplewood, Apt. 118, Willard.
He was born in Crawford County, to Henry C. and Effie (Kimble) Pfrisch.
Surviving are two brothers, Henry Pfrisch of Shiloh and Daryl Pfrisch of Laurel, Mont.; two sisters, Ruth Pfrisch of Mansfield and Mary Stephens of Bucyrus; and several nieces and nephews.
A brother, Richard Pfrisch, also is deceased.
Mr. Pfrisch was a retired farmer.
Private graveside services are today in Whetstone cemetery, Crawford County.
The Lindsey-Kocher Funeral Service, Willard, is in charge of arrangements.
Fredrick Eugene Dunn
Step-father of Tiffin resident
Fredrick Eugene Dunn, 67, of 234 E. Yates Ave., Findlay, died at 3:48 a.m. Sunday, July 2, 2000, in Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center, Findlay.
He was born April 18, 1933, in Findlay, to the late Leo S. and Ada (Schaaff) Dunn. On Aug. 29, 1959, he married
Patricia Ann (Lee) Gusler, and they were later divorced. His second wife, Lucille (Marple) Dunn, whom he married
Jan. 29, 1977, survives.
Other survivors include: three sons, Christopher Douglas Dunn of Colorado Springs, Colo., Samuel Douglas Dunn of Nashville, Tenn and Joseph Douglas Dunn of Findlay; a step-son, Mark R. Pierce of Findlay; three step-daughters, Karen R. Pierce of Tiffin, Tamara R. Stallard and Sharon L. Kuenzli, both of Findlay; three grandchildren, 11 step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren; a brother, Leo "Jack" Dunn Jr. of Lovell, Wyo.; and a sister, Mrs. John (Virginia) Steen of Findlay.
A sister, Mrs. Alan (Mary Jo) Kraus, also preceded him in death.
Mr. Dunn retired in November 1988 from the Findlay Post Office, after 35 years of employment.
A U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Korean Conflict, he was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Findlay and a former member of the Findlay American Legion.
Services will be at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Coldren-Crates Funeral Home, Findlay, with Pastor Linda Zaye officiating. Interment will be in Maple Grove cemetery, Findlay, where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Hancock County Veterans Memorial Squad.
Visitation will be 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the church in Mr. Dunn's memory.
Orren A. 'Pappy' Dehring
Former Fostoria Foundry employee
Orren A. "Pappy" Dehring, 75, of 248 Rock St., Fostoria, died at 7:30 a.m. Sunday, July 2, 2000, in Fostoria Community Hospital.
He was born July 16, 1924, in Rocky Ridge, Ohio, to Herman G. and Fredricka (Ohm) Dehring. On May 1, 1948, in St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria, he married
Dorothy M. Keiffer, who died in 1981.
Surviving are two sons, Mark H. Dehring of Fostoria and Robert L. Dehring of Findlay; two daughters, Janet R. Gilson of North Webster, Ind. and Susan M. Tyson of Fostoria; eight grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and nine step-great-grandchildren.
Also preceding him in death were: four brothers, Lester, Oscar, Reuben and Justin Dehring; and three sisters, Viola Henderson, Leah Sprague and Doris Warren.
Mr. Dehring, a World War II U.S. Army veteran, had been employed at the Fostoria Foundry/Chrysler 1963-76.
A lifelong member of Moose Lodge 1567, where he had received the "Volunteer of the Year" award, he also was a member of Eagles 430, AMVETS Post 69 and the United Sportsmen Club, all of Fostoria.
The Rev. Branson J. Hawkes will be the officiant at the 11 a.m. Wednesday service in the Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria. Interment will be in St. Wendelin cemetery, Fostoria.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home, where Moose memorial services will be at 7 p.m. Visitation also will be one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mary Catherine Russell
Retired cook
Mary Catherine Russell, 67, of 148 Morgan St., Oberlin, died Thursday, June 29, 2000, in Elyria Memorial Hospital.
She was born Nov. 4, 1932, in Findlay, to the late Titus and Mary Revona (Adams) Stevenson.
Survivors include: two sons, L. Steven Russell of Dunkirk and Marquis Anthony Russell of Wellington; two daughters, Kellie Ellen Russell of Oberlin and Karen Revona Allen of Kissimmee, Fla.; six grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
A sister, Joyce E. Lawson, also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Russell retired in 1994 as a cook from the Oberlin Public Schools, after 20 years of employment.
She also served as a volunteer cook for the Hot Meals in Oberlin and enjoyed bowling.
The Rev. T.A. Smith, of the First Baptist Church, will be the officiant at the 2 p.m. Thursday service in the Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria. Interment will be in Knollcrest Gardens, near Arcadia.
Visitation will be noon-2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Diabetes Association or the Kidney Foundation.
Jack R. LeComte
Retired research chemist
Jack R. LeComte, 76, of 1050 N. Countyline St., Fostoria, died at 2 p.m. Monday, July 3, 2000, in St. Catherine's Care Center, Fostoria.
He was born Sept. 21, 1923, in Wayne, to Harold A. and Blanche (Dicken) LeComte.
Surviving are two daughters, Janet M. Peterson of Hingham, Maine and Debra S. Rohrer of Springfield; a brother, James H. LeComte of Judsonia, Ark.; and four grandchildren.
A brother, Charles E. LeComte, also is deceased.
Mr. LeComte, a research chemist for Dupoint in Wilmington, Del., retired in 1985.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Springfield.
Graveside services in Fountain cemetery, Fostoria, will be private. The Rev. Jeffrey Waite of High Street United Methodist Church, will officiate.
There will be no visitation. The Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria, is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Mabel G. Holcomb
Former G.E. inspector
Mabel G. Holcomb, 93, formerly of Findlay and Bradner, died
at 11:55 a.m. Monday, July 3, 2000, in the Independence House, 1000 Independence Ave., Fostoria, where she resided.
She was born Nov. 17, 1906, in Bowling Green, to Charlie and May (Reed) Silverwood. Her husband, Harry A. Holcomb, whom she married
June 26, 1928, in Gibsonburg, preceded her in death April 3, 1961.
A sister, Katie McCoy of Bradner, survives.
Also preceding her in death were a brother, Cloyce Silverwood; and two sisters, Roberta Rhoades and Leona Loucks.
Mrs. Holcomb, a graduate of Bradner High School, had been employed as an inspector at the former General Electric in Tiffin, for 20 years.
She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Fostoria.
