John H. Alleman
Retired salesman

John H. Alleman, 80, died early Saturday morning, July 1, 2000, of natural causes, at his residence at 2281 Fox Run Circle, Findlay.

He was born Aug. 12, 1919, in Wauseon, to Henry and Pearl (Benner) Alleman. On Feb. 26, 1949, in Holgate, he married Virginia Welz, who survives.

Other survivors include: two sons, John H. Alleman Jr. of Cadiz, and Martin J. Alleman of Dallas; two daughters, Mrs. Gary (Jane) Heminger of Findlay and Mrs. Jim (Susan) Ferrell of Dayton; eight grandchildren; two brothers, Richard J. Alleman of Ormand Beach, Fla., and Ora K. Alleman of Holland, Ohio; and a sister Emma Ruggiero of Toledo.

A brother, Wilbur R. Alleman, also is deceased.

Mr. Alleman, a graduate of Fayette High School, Fayette, Ohio, retired as a salesman from the Bostwick-Braun Co. in Ohio and Pennsylvania, after 42 years of employment.

A World War II U.S. Army veteran, having served in Africa and throughout Europe, he was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Findlay, and the Tiffin YMCA, where he served as past president.

He also attended the University of Toledo and formerly served as a hospital volunteer in Meadville, Pa.

A memorial service will be private and burial in Maple Grove cemetery also will be private.

There will be no visitation. The Routson Funeral Chapel, Findlay, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to any Hospice organization.

Shirley B. Daniel
Rural Tiffin homemaker

Shirley E. Daniel, 53, died at 5:30 p.m. Monday, July 3, 2000, at her residence at 3408 S. CR 19.

She was born Jan. 27, 1947, in Alvada, to the late Cyril J. Sr. and Germaine R. (Gosche) Nye. On Jan. 27, 1968, in St. Peter Catholic Church, Alvada, she married Ed Daniel, who survives.

Other survivors include: four daughters, Mrs. Tony (Amy) Lombardi of Milan, Mrs. Ron (Sara) Brown of Tiffin, Mrs. Mike (Jackie) Ewald of Stow and Mrs. Brian (Gwen) Weikert of Delaware, Ohio; eight grandchildren; five brothers, Cyril M. Jr. and Donald G. Nye, both of New Riegel and Delbert J., Carl J. and Richard L. Nye, all of Alvada; and six sisters, Mrs. Luke (Mary Lou) Weinandy of Alvada, Idella Reinhart of Fremont, Mrs. Lewis (Eloise) Reinhart of Fostoria, Mrs. Ralph (Teresa) Szablewski of Tiffin, Mrs. Eugene (Donna) Reinhart, also of Alvada and her twin sister, Mrs. Marvin (Sharon) Hohman of New Riegel.

A sister, Berneida Lichtle, also is deceased.

Mrs. Daniel, a 1965 New Riegel High School graduate, was a homemaker and worked with her husband on the family farm.

A member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and its Rosary Altar Society, she served as a volunteer for St. Joseph School Library and as a 4-H advisor.

A funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Friday in St. Joseph Catholic Church, with the Rev. James K. Say and Deacon Lewis Reinhart officiating. The rosary will be recited at 10:45 a.m. Friday at the church. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Visitation will be 1-4 and 5-9 p.m. Thursday in the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to FACT (Financial Assistance for Cancer Treatment) of Seneca County or Community Hospice Care of Seneca County.

Claude R. Huss
Retired railroad engineer

Claude R. Huss, 87, formerly of Bellevue and Green Springs, died late Sunday evening, July 2, 2000, in Parkview Care Center, Fremont.

He was born Feb. 16, 1913, in Fremont, to Russell and Iliza (Roe) Huss. On July 20, 1935, in Green Springs, he married Evelyn Willis, who died April 27, 1995.

Survivors include: two daughters, Yvonne Scott and Janet Huss, both of Findlay; and a brother, Clair Huss of Green Springs.

Also preceding him in death were a brother, Clyde Huss; and three sisters, Doris Donaldson, Jean Lowe and Marguerite Hetrick.

A graduate of Green Springs High School, Mr. Huss had been employed as a railroad engineer for Norfolk and Western Railroad System, retiring March 28, 1975.

He was a member of Seybert United Methodist Church, Bellevue.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in the Nopper-Karlovetz Mortuary, Fremont. Burial will be in Green Springs cemetery.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Memorial Hospital or a charity of the donor's choice.

Kenneth D. Hostler
Brother of Tiffin resident

Kenneth D. Hostler, 76, of Venice, Fla., died Monday, July 3, 2000, in Florida.

He was born Dec. 24, 1923, in Tiffin., moved to Lakeland, Fla. and then to Venice in 1989.

Survivors include: two daughters, Mrs. Donnie (Mary) Jordan and Mrs. Wayne (Karen) Roberts, both of Venice; a brother, Lowell Hostler of Tiffin; four grandchildren and a great-grandson.

Mr. Hostler, a claims manager with Nationwide Insurance, retired after 25 years of service. He also was employed as an investigator with the Public Defenders office and assigned to hearing court cases in the 13th Judicial Court, Tampa and the 12th Judicial Court, Venice.

A World War II U.S. Army veteran, he was assigned to the Counter-Intelligence Corps and served as a Major of the 841st Intelligence Detachment. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves.

Also an assistant Florida State director for A.A.R.P. 1987-95, he was a graduate of Kent State University and Akron Law School.

Visitation will be 6-7 p.m. Thursday in the Ewing Funeral Home, 140 E. Venice Ave., Venice, Fla. The service will follow at 7 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment will be in Florida National cemetery, Bushnell, Fla.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Foundation of S.W. Florida, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, Fla. 34238 or a charity of the donor's choice.

Mary Lou Baresich
Nurses aide

Mary Lou Baresich, 65, formerly of Moore Street, Fremont, died Monday evening, July 3, 2000, at the home of her daughter, following a long illness.

She was born Nov. 17, 1934, in Fremont, to the late Samuel and Francis (Petrobich) Baresich.

Surviving are a daughter, Pamela Robison of rural Bellevue; three grandchildren; two brothers, Samuel Baresich of Sandusky and Bobby Baresich of Fremont; and a sister, Annie Leiter of Clyde.

She also was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Staci Billings.

Mrs. Baresich, a member of Grace Community Church, Fremont, worked as a nurses aide at Memorial Hospital, Fremont, for 24 years. She later worked at Countryside Continuing Care Center for 18 years, retiring in 1997.

Friends will be received at Grace Community Church, 900 Smith Road, Fremont noon until time of the service at 2 p.m. Thursday. The Rev. J. Ward Tressler will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, Clyde.

The Foos-Klein Funeral Home, Clyde, is in charge of arrangements.

Mary Bailey
Bellevue homemaker

Mary Bailey, 89, formerly of East Main Street, Bellevue, died Sunday, July 2, 2000, in Providence Care Center, Sandusky.

She was born June 28, 1911, to Fred and Ida (Gerhardstein) Bumb.

Survivors include: two daughters, Mrs. William (Regina) Linkenbach of Mansfield and Mrs. James (Dolores) Limbird of Monroeville; four grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Irene Stockmeister of rural Attica.

She also was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles, William and Russell Bumb; two sisters, Ida B. Mong and infant Helen Bumb; and a great-grandson, James C. Limbird.

Mrs. Bailey, a homemaker, served as a volunteer for many years at the Bellevue Hospital.

A Mass of Christian Burial is at 11 a.m. today in St. Sebastian Catholic Church, with the Rev. Richard Friebel officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

Family visitation will be private.The Foos and Son Funeral Home, Bellevue, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the church or the Sorrowful Mother Shrine.

Robert D. Tupps
Retired plant superintendent

Robert D. Tupps, 73, of Bellevue, died Monday, July 3, 2000, in the Bellevue Hospital.

He was born May 27, 1927, in Bucyrus, to Donald D. and Edith (Hilderbrandt) Tupps. His wife, Jacqueline H. (Timmons) Tupps, whom he married March 28, 1945, in Mansfield, survives.

Survivors also include: a brother, Thomas T. Tupps of Ocala, Fla.; a sister, Margaret Gray of Lake Alfred, Fla.; and a half-sister, Violet Munshi of Kansas.

A sister, Patricia Ploss, also is deceased.

Mr. Tupps was employed from 1959, as plant superintendent until his retirement in 1985, at the Faulhaber Co. in Monroeville.

An avid golfer he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a member of the Bellevue Eagles 490 and VFW Post 1238. He also enjoyed fishing.

Memorial services will be announced at a later date. There will be no visitation. The Foos and Son Funeral Home, Bellevue, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the donor's favorite charity.

Gordon K. White
U.S. Army-retired

Gordon K. White, 82, of 414 Sherman St., Bellevue, died at his residence Saturday, July 1, 2000.

He was born Nov. 19, 1917, in Willard, to Cecil G. and Thelma (Jacobs) White. On Aug. 22, 1957, he married Eunice V. Hass, who is deceased.

Also preceding him in death were two sisters, Betty Dudley and Margaret Rischel.

Mr. White, retired after 20 years service in the U.S. Army. He also retired from O'Ryan Gear in Holland Park, Ill.

Graveside services in Fort Sheridan, cemetery, Fort Sheridan, Ill., will be private.

There will be no visitation. The Foos and Son Funeral Home, Bellevue, is in charge of arrangements.

Calvin R. Predmore
Retired machinist

Calvin R. Predmore, 72, of 269 Duck Pond Road, Upper Sandusky, died at 6 p.m. Monday, July 3, 2000, in the Wyandot Manor Nursing Home, Upper Sandusky.

He was born Feb. 4, 1928, in Columbus, to Errett N. and Hazel May (LaVanway) Predmore. His wife, Helen M. (Shafer) Predmore, whom he married Feb. 19, 1949, in Greenup, Ky., survives.

Other survivors include: two sons, Larry L. Predmore of Upper Sandusky and Douglas A. Predmore of Columbus; a daughter, Mrs. James (Theresa) Polk of Columbus; six grandchildren; three brothers, Richard of Bucyrus, Gordon of Upper Sandusky and Donald of Carey; and a sister, Mrs. Catherine Schoenberger of Upper Sandusky.

Two sisters, Dorothy Chandler and Jacqueline Stoll are deceased.

Mr. Predmore, a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, Upper Sandusky, retired in 1988 as a machinist from the Eaton Mfg. in Marion, after 33 years of employment.

A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, he served as a volunteer at St. Vincent dePaul Society. He was a member of Knights of Columbus 2050 and American Legion Post 225, Upper Sandusky. He enjoyed fixing everything, taking care of lawn and cooking out.

The Rev. James Holmer will be the officiant at the 10:30 a.m. Friday service in St. Peter Catholic Church, Upper Sandusky. Burial will be in Old Mission cemetery, Upper Sandusky.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday in the Bringman Clark and Company Funeral Home, Upper Sandusky, where a Biblical wake service will be at 8:45 p.m.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Wyandot County, the church or St. Vincent dePaul Society, in care of the Bringman-Clark and Company Funeral Home, P.O. Box 246, Upper Sandusky, OH 43351.

Loretta A. Claus
Bellevue homemaker

Loretta A. Claus, 83, of Del Moy Avenue, Bellevue, died Wednesday, July 5, 2000,in the Bellevue Care Center.

She was born April 8, 1917, in Marywood, Franks, Seneca County, to Frank and Catherine (Schreiner) Frisch. On May 10, 1938, she married Walter C. Claus, who survives.

Other survivors include: six children, Martin Claus of Bellevue, Mrs. Gene (Terry) Missler of Norwalk, Mrs. Robert (Ruth) Frankfather, Raymond and Roger Claus, all of Bellevue and Mrs. John (Patricia) Loose of Monroeville; 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Stockmaster of New Washington and Helen Meyers of Milan; and a brother, Frank Frisch Jr. of Tiffin.

Also preceding her in death were a granddaughter, five sisters, Nora Alt, Ann Guloski, Hilda Moyer, Marcella Heyman and Rose Stockmaster; and two brothers, Lawrence and Leo Frisch.

Mrs. Claus, a homemaker, was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Bellevue, and its Altar Rosary Society.

A life-time Bellevue area resident, she attended the Franks Area School.

The Rev. Robert Tucceri will be the officiant at the 11 a.m. Saturday service in Immacualte Conception Catholic Church. Interment will be in the Bellevue Catholic cemetery.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday in the Auxter-Groff Funeral Home, Bellevue, where the rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m.l

Memorials may be made to Immaculate Conception School, Father Bishop Memorial Fund or Stein Hospice, Sandusky.

Robert L. Porter
Bucyrus Post Office retiree

Robert L. Porter, 75, of 3490 S. SR 4, Attica, died Tuesday evening, July 4, 2000, in the Bellevue Hospital, after an illness of several months.

He was born June 19, 1925, in Green Camp, Ohio, to Francis and Zella (Daughtery) Keppler. On Sept. 30, 1967, in Attica, he married Dolores A. Binninger, who survives.

Survivors also include: a daughter, Mrs. Todd (Becky) Radel of Jackson Center; two sons, Steven Porter of Jackson Center and William Porter of Bartow, Fla.; a sister, Mrs. Dwight (Nina Ruth) Hedges of Green Camp; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Aldene Daniels and a brother, William Keppler.

Mr. Porter, a 1943 graduate of Marion Harding High School, worked as a clerk for the U.S. Postal Service in Bucyrus, retiring in 1986, after 30 years of service. He had previously worked for the Ohio State Patrol.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater, where he received a Purple Heart for wounds sustained in combat. He was a 37-year member of Colonel Crawford American Legion 181, Bucyrus

Also a member of Attica United Methodist Church, he served many years as a United Methodist Lay speaker.

He was a 50-year member of Attica Lodge 367, a 30 year member of both the Golden Rule Chapter 167 and Golden Rule Council 132, both of Willard. He also was a member of DeMolay Commandry 9 of Tiffin and the Demolay Commandry Drill Team. Mr. Porter was head of all four Masonic bodies several times and also was a member of the Knight York Cross of Honor, Scottish Rite Valley of Toledo, Seneca Scottish Rite Association, Zenobia Shrine Temple of Toledo, Tall Cedars of Lebanon-Emerald Council 7 and the Masonic Camping-National Camping Travelers.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in the Attica United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Thom Kalb and the Rev. Malcome Brooks as co-officiants. Burial will be in Attica-Venice cemetery, where military graveside services will be conducted by Colonel Crawford American Legion Post 181.

Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today in the Lindsey-Olds Funeral Home, 3085 S. SR 19, Bloomville, where Masonic services will be at 6:30 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the Knight Templar Eye Foundation or the church.
