Benjamin 'Benny' Berrier Jr.
Former Tiffin Enterprise employee

Benjamin "Benny" Berrier Jr., 72, 1510 N. SR 101, died at 2:15 a.m. Monday, Aug. 14, 2000, in Mercy Hospital of Tiffin, where he had been a patient for two days.

He was born Aug. 4, 1928, in Tiffin, to Benjamin Sr. and Clara (King) Berrier. His wife, Rita R. (Miles) Berrier, whom he married June 5, 1950, in Indiana, died May 17, 1999.

Surviving are: four sons, Richard, Donald and Ken Berrier, all of Tiffin and Thomas Berrier of Bloomville; three daughters, Patricia Kerschner of Tiffin, Cheryl Zellner of Bloomville and Phyllis Lucius of New Riegel; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and five sisters, Geraldine Sheldon, Mary Lang and Estella Kelbley, all of Tiffin, Florence Williams of Findlay and Lucille Studer of New Washington.

He also was preceded in death by three children, Charles and Kevin Berrier and an infant Nancy Berrier; two sisters, Margarette Harshman and Annabelle Brickner; and a brother, John Berrier.

Mr. Berrier, who was retired, had worked at Tiffin Enterprise for 17 years, at Detrick Shell for 15 years and at the Benner Street Garage for three years. He also worked at the Tiffin Glass Co.

He had lived his lifetime in Seneca County.

The Rev. David Culp will conduct the noon Wednesday service in the Turner-Engle Funeral Home. Burial will be in Fairmont cemetery.

Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Beatrice M. Miller
Former Mary Kay representative

Beatrice M. Miller, 75, of 461 W. Lytle St., Lot 30, Fostoria, died at 1:20 a.m. Monday, Aug. 14, 2000, in St. Luke's Hospital, Maumee..

She was born Jan. 24, 1925, in Fostoria, to John and Gladys (Duffy) Soles. Four husbands, Ray Coble, Maury Shatzer, Vernon Opp and Thomas Miller Jr., also preceded her in death.

Surviving are three daughters, Diane L. Miller of Fostoria, Lisa J. Miller of Dallas, Texas and Vicki S. Miller of Florida; a brother, Gerald Kisabeth of Fostoria; a sister, Jean Hollenbaugh of Nevada; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A son, Stephen F. Miller; and a grandchild, also are deceased.

Mrs. Miller, a homemaker, formerly worked as a Mary Kay representative.

She was a member of Fostoria Elks Lodge 935 and Fostoria Emblem Club, where she had served in numerous offices.

The service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria, with the Rev.Jeffrey Waite officiating. Interment will be in Knollcrest Gardens, near Arcadia.

There will be no visitation.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation.

Winona Ruth Bennett
Former Bellevue G. E. employee

Winona Ruth Bennett, 78, formerly of 1001 E. Main St., Bellevue, died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2000, in the Orchard Grove Retirement Community, Bellevue.

She was born Aug. 19, 1921, in Chicago, Ill., to Townsend Wesley and Elsie May (Taylor) Bennett.

Survivors include a brother, Dwight L. Bennett of Orangeville, Ill.; a sister-in-law; two nieces and four nephews.

She also was preceded in death by two brothers, Seeley and Waldo Bennett.

Ms. Bennett, a member of Seybert United Methodist Church, Bellevue, was raised in a variety of communities in northwest Ohio including Pioneer, Wren and Republic as her father was an Evangelical United Brethren pastor.

A graduate of Hicksville High School, she earned her bachelor's degree, majoring in Bible and business, from Bob Jones University. She worked for General Electric in Bellevue 1955-85.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the Foos and Son Funeral Home, 311 W. Main St., Bellevue, with the Rev. Joseph Sopher officiating. A graveside service will be at 4 p.m. Friday in Woodland cemetery, Van Wert.

Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Forrest E. 'Gene' Fink
U.S. Postal Service retiree

Forrest E. "Gene" Fink, 77, of 912 S. Main St., Willard, died Tuesday morning, Aug. 15, 2000, in the Hillside Acres Nursing Home.

He was born Nov. 20, 1922, in Tiffin, to Forrest C. and Laura E. (Beelman) Fink. His wife of more than 50 years, Carmella Fink, survives in Willard.

Other survivors include: three sons, Gary and Michael Fink, both of Willard and Thomas Fink of Ontario, Ohio; a daughter, Mrs. Ric (Jean Ann) Buurma of Gregory, Mich.; nine grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and a great-grandchild; a sister, Phyllis Hill of Willard; and numerious nieces and nephews.

A brother, Willard "Woody" Fink, also is deceased.

Mr. Fink, a 1940 graduate of Willard High School, retired in 1986 as a letter carrier from the U.S. Postal Service in Willard, where he had been employed for more than 30 years.

He also was a self-employed house painter for many years.

An avid reader, he enjoyed hiking and hockey and also coached Little League and Pony League for many years.

Prayers will be recited at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in the Lindsey-Kocher Funeral Service, Willard, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Willard, with the Rev. Mel Verhoff officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph cemetery, Willard.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Arthur Earl Wyant
Self-employed farmer

Arthur Earl Wyant, 91, of Kansas, Ohio, died at 6:40 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2000, in the Good Shepherd Nursing Home, Fostoria.

He was born March 14, 1909, in Seneca County, to Charles and Anna Wyant. On Dec. 9, 1927, in Lexington, Ky., he married Bertha M. RInebold. She died April 24, 1995.

Survivors include: three sons, Richard Wyant of Kansas, Joe Wyant of Millersville and Art Wyant of Risingsun; two daughters, Mrs. Dick (Jean) Stein of Oregon and Shirley Sullivan of Risingsun; a brother, Willis Wyant of California; 19 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Also preceding him in death were a brother, Wilbur Wyant; two sisters, Gladys Massamer and Rowena Hill; and four grandchildren.

Mr. Wyant, a 1927 graduate of Jackson Township Centralized High School, was a self-employed farmer for many years.

He attended Kansas United Methodist Church.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria. Burial will be in Liberty cemetery, Kansas.

Visitation is 7-9 p.m. today in the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the church or the Good Shepherd Nursing Home, 725 Columbus Ave., Fostoria, OH 44830.

Fairy J. Ward
Carey homemaker

Fairy J. Ward, 93, formerly of 604 St. Mary's Ave., Carey, died at 9:45 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2000, in the Wyandot County Nursing Home, Upper Sandusky, where she had resided for the past year.

She was born April 29, 1907, in Wharton, to Earl O. and Madelon (Bristoll) Ward.

Surviving are four brothers and sisters, Marybelle McCarley of Carey, James Ward of Upper Sandusky, Madelon "Dolly" Tucker and Richard Ward, also both of Carey; and many nieces and nephews.

Ms. Ward, a homemaker, was a graduate of Carey High School.

The Rev. Paul DeMoss will be the officiant at the 11 a.m. Friday service in the Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, Carey. Interment will be in Spring Grove cemetery, Carey.

Visitation is 2-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Wyandot County or O.L.C. Trojan Boosters Association, in care of the Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, 225 W. Findlay St., Carey, OH 43316-1169.

Carl G. Pifher
Mansfield Brass employee

Carl G. Pifher, 61, of 7725 Lightsburg Road, Tiro, died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2000, in Mercy Hospital, Willard, following a short illness.

He was born Sept. 3, 1938, in Willard, to the late Clarence and Martha Pifher. His wife, Kathleen (Hosang) Pifher, whom he married Jan. 9, 1960, survives.

Other survivors include: four sons, Robert Pifher of New Washington and Randal, Scott and David Pifher, all of North Auburn; two daughters, Mrs. Craig (Laura) Orewiler and Karen Coder, both of Bucyrus; six grandchildren; and three sisters, Sister Romana Pifher of Tiffin, Mary Boes of Kirby and Janice Boes of Upper Sandusky.

Mr. Pifher worked for 44 years in the maintenance department at Mansfield Brass and Aluminum in New Washington.

He was a member of Mother of Sorrows and St. Bernard Catholic Churches in New Washington and North Auburn and the Knights of Columbus, of which he was a lifetime member.

An Auburn Township trustee, he served in the Army National Guard.

The Rev. Robert Dendinger will be the celebrant at the 10:30 a.m. Saturday service in St. Bernard Catholic Church, New Washington. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday in the Secor Funeral Home, New Washington, where the rosary will be recited at 8:45 p.m.

Memorials may be made to St. Bernard's Endowment Fund.

Leona A. Boyd
Fostoria resident

Leona A. Boyd, 84, of Walnut Street, Fostoria, died at 8:25 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2000, at her residence. She was born June 8, 1916, in Tiffin to John and Bertha (Warnement) Welter. On June 3, 1948, she married Hugh "Buck" Boyd at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Tiffin. He died July 25, 1996.

Surviving are a son, Chuck Boyd of Quincy, Ill.; four daughters, Mrs. Sue Reiter, Mrs. Nancy Whipple, Mrs. Martha Mireles and Mrs. Peggy Ward, all of Fostoria; a brother, Carl "Jake" Welter of Tiffin; a sister, Sister Margaret Welter, OSU, Toledo; and nine grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were six brothers, Pius, Leon, Reginald, Albert, Raymond and John "Jack" Welter; and a sister, Mary Homan.

Mrs. Boyd was a homemaker and worked at the SS Kresge Store in Tiffin. Her memberships included: St. Wendelin Catholic Church, its Rosary-Altar Society, Fostoria; Honorary member of the Circle of Mercy; Daughters of Isabella and its card flight; Fostoria Woman's Club; Fostoria Lineage Society; Child Conservation League and Fostoria Historical Society. She was a 1934 graduate of Calvert High School; she was an avid card player and genealogist.

The Rev. Daniel Ring will officiate the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, 2000, in St. Wendelin Catholic Church. Burial will be at Kansas cemetery, Kansas.

Visitation hours are 2-5 and 7-9 tonight at the Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria. A Christian wake service will be at 8:30 tonight at the funeral home, and a rosary will be recited at 10 a.m. Saturday in the church.

Memorials may be made to Ursuline Sisters Care Center, Toledo and/or Fostoria Home Health Care.

Eugene P. Bauman
Attica resident

Eugene P. Bauman, 72, of CR 24, Attica, died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2000, at the Medical College of Ohio, Toledo. He was born June 29, 1928, to Fred and Viola (Miller) Bauman. On April 11, 1950, he married Winifred Meyer. She survives.

Other survivors include: a son, Keith Bauman of Attica; two daughters, Shirley Anderson of Plymouth, Minn., and Mrs. Sharon Claus of Bellevue; a brother, Robert Bauman of Kettering; and four grandchildren.

Preceding him in death was a sister, Mary Alice Bauman in 1936.

Mr. Bauman was a 1947 graduate of Willard High School. A farmer, he retired from Center Manufacturing in 1991 after 40 years. He was a member of Reed Assumption Church; American Cancer Society; was lector and usher for Sorrowful Mother Shrine; Knights of Columbus, Attica, serving as Grand Knight 1982-1984 and 1995-1997; Knight of the Year 1983 and 1990; Family of the Year 1993; District Warden 1991-1993; was chairman of UAW for eight years; Farm Bureau; Eagles 490 4 County Young at Heart and officer for UAW for 15 years. Mr. Bauman was a wood worker in cabinetry.

The Rev. John Nagle will officiate the 11 a.m. Saturday service at the Reed Assumption Church. Burial will be at Reed Assumption cemetery.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today at the Auxter-Groff Funeral Home with Rosary and Knights of Columbus Services at 8:30.

Memorials may be made to Knights of Columbus and/or Sorrowful Mother Shrine.

Tom T. Lather
Former Tiffin resident

Tom T. Lather, 87, of Zolfo Springs, Fl., and formerly of Tiffin, Findlay and Pandora, died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2000, at Florida Hospital in Sebring, Fla. He was born Sept. 25, 1913, in Findlay to Harry C. and Flora (Beall) Lather. On Oct. 14, 1936 he married Mabel C. Florea. She survives.

Survivors also include: three sons, Phillip L. Lather of Columbus Grove, Frank C. Lather of Cape Coral, Fla., and Dale A. Lather of Zolfo Springs, Fla.; two daughters, Mrs. Ellen Junk of rural Pandora and Mrs. Donna Weese of rural Findlay; two brothers, Glen (Bud) Lather of Tiffin and Lee R. Lather of Port Charlotte, Fla.; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were four brothers, Harry C., John "Dell", Anthony "Tony" and Floyd Lather; and two sisters, Amanda Keller and Myrtle Barnhart.

Mr. Lather was a retired cable splicing contractor who had also worked for the Ohio Bell Telephone Co. in Tiffin for 13 years. He attended the Peace Valley Lutheran Church, Wanchula, Fla., and was a Mason for 52 years.

Memorials may be made to Peace Valley Lutheran Church, Stenston Road., Wachula, FL.

Edna M. Richendollar
Former Fostoria resident

Edna M. Richendollar, 87, of Van Buren, formerly of Fostoria, died at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 17, 2000, at St. Catherine's Care Center, Findlay. She was born March 25, 1913, to Willey Porter and Mary Ethel (Clark) Truitt. On July 22, 1940, she married Orylen A. Richendollar. He died Aug. 6, 1997.

Surviving are a son, Donald A. Richendollar of St. Petersburg, Fla.; two daughters, Mrs. Carolyn Fox of Van Buren and Mrs. Donna Dunnett of Spring Hill, Fla.; five grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Preceding her in death were a brother, Dennis Truitt, and a sister, Lola Ray.

Mrs. Richendollar was an assembler for Crowell Colliers Publishers Plant in Springfield, Ohio; she also worked for Ford Motor Co./Allied Signal (now Honeywell) in Fostoria, retiring in 1955. She was a member of the United Brethren Church of Jerry City.

The Rev. Ben Lowell will officiate the 10 a.m. Saturday service at the Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria. Burial will be at the Troy Township cemetery.

Visitation hours are one hour prior to the services.

Memorials may be made to the Shrine Children's Hospitals.
