Dorothy Louise Frederick
Seneca County Sheriff's Office retiree

Dorothy Louise Frederick, 64, 15745 SR 12, Findlay, died at 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2000, at her home.

She was born May 14, 1936, in Vanlue, to the late Franklin and Gladys (Johnson) Breitigam. Her first husband, Conley P. Cook, is deceased. She later married Jack G. Frederick, who also is deceased.

Survivors include: two daughters, Connie Karcher of Findlay and Christine Fetters of Bucyrus; three grandchildren; a brother, Paul Breitigam of Tiffin; and a sister, Kathleen Spaun, also of Tiffin.

A son, Michael Cook; and two brothers, Wayne and Robert Breitigam, also preceded her in death.

A member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Mrs. Frederick retired as a lieutenant in 1988, from the Seneca County Sheriff's Office.

She also was a member of the Buckeye State Sheriff's Association, the Eagles Auxiliary and Ladies of the Moose, both of Tiffin.

Mrs. Frederick, who had lived in Naples, Fla. for 11 years after her retirement, also worked as a volunteer at Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center in Findlay.

A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday in St. Michael Catholic Church, East, Findlay, with The Rev. Doug Taylor as celebrant. Burial will be in Seneca Memory Gardens, Tiffin.

Visitation is 6-9 p.m. today in the Coldren-Crates Funeral Home, Findlay, where a vigil service will be at 8:30 p.m.

Memorials may be made to Cancer Patient Services, 820 N. Main St. Suite 7, Findlay, Ohio.

Etta M. Erwin
Retired insurance secretary

Etta M. Erwin, 73, of 412 Burnham Drive, Fostoria, died at 10:40 p.m. Monday, Oct. 2, 2000, in St. Luke's Hospital, Tempe, Ariz.

She was born May 2, 1927, in Sharon, Pa., to William and Beatrice (Davis) Ritenour. Her husband, Joseph T. "Mickey" Erwin, whom she married April 15, 1950, in Washington, D.C., died May 16, 1985.

Survivors include: a daughter, Mrs. James (Cynthia S.) Phipps of Fostoria; three grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Erwin was employed as a secretary for the former Wollam-Heiser Realty and then Hollinger Insurance Agency, both of Fostoria, for more than 15 years, retiring in 1996.

She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Elks Lodge 935 and numerous Bridge clubs, all in Fostoria and the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.

She also served as a volunteer at Fostoria Community Hospital.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria, with the Rev. Branson J. Hawkes officiating. Interment will be in Fountain cemetery, Fostoria.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Clifford E. Mullican

Word has been received of the death of Clifford E. Mullican, 94, of West Palm Beach, Fla., who died Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2000.

He was born in Green Springs, to George and Edith Mullican. His wife of 64 years, Hollis Mullican, preceded him in death.

Surviving are: a daughter, Mrs. Kenneth (Lynda) Schneider of Wellington, Fla.; three grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and three great-granddaughters.

A grandson, also preceded him in death.

Mr. Mullican, a retired automobile and aeronautical mechanic, resided in Florida for many years.

A memorial service took place Sept. 23 in the E. Earl Smith and Son Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Isabelle M. Helle
Retired Avon distributor/cook

Isabelle M. Helle, 82, formerly of 21 Hall St., died at 7:35 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2000, in St. Francis Home.

She was born April 23, 1918, in Fostoria, to Ignatius and Veronica (Mangett) Yost. On Nov. 23, 1939, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin, she married John F. Helle, who preceded her in death in 1954.

Survivors include: a brother, Gerald Yost of Tiffin; and a sister, Mrs. Harold (Rita) Knaup, also of Tiffin.

Also preceding her in death were three sisters, Mary Elizabeth Hess, Lenora Yost and Gertrude Clouse; and four brothers, Marcus, Eugene, Leonard and Cletus Yost.

Mrs. Helle, a retired Avon distributor, also retired as a cook from numerous locations in Tiffin.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, its Rosary Altar Society and Daughters of Isabella. She also enjoyed bowling and bingo.

The Rev. James Say will be the celebrant at the 11 a.m. Saturday funeral Mass in St. Joseph Catholic Church. The rosary will be prayed 15 minutes prior to the Mass at the church Saturday. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday in the Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the church, St. Francis Home or a charity of the donor's choice.

Hilda R. Hale
Former owner Hale's Grocery Store

Hilda R. Hale, 79, of 1720 SH 231, Sycamore, died at 11:15 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2000 at St. Vincent Medical Center, Toledo. She was born Sept. 13, 1921 to Frank C. and Edla (Clemens) Mackling. On July 4, 1938 she married Charles N. Hale, he died Jan. 29, 1998.

Surviving include: a son, James P. Hale of Tiffin; two daughters, Mrs. Vivian Hendricks of Wapakoneta, and Mrs. Janis Sattler of Tiffin; two sisters, Mrs. Reva Dutcher of Sycamore, and Mrs. Helen Cole of Carey; three grandchildren; and a great grandchild.

Preceding her in death were: a grandson: five brothers; and two sisters.

Mrs. Hale was a homemaker and former owner of Hale's Grocery Store in Sycamore. A member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness in Tiffin, she enjoyed reading, crocheting and garage sales.

The Elder Richard Tate will officiate the 2 p.m. Monday funeral service at the Walton-Moore Funeral Home. Burial will be at Pleasant View cemetery in Sycamore.

Visitation hours are from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness, Tiffin; Wyandot County Heart Support Group; or to the charity of the donor's choice.

Elizabeth Jean Shelt
Former area resident

Elizabeth Jean Shelt, 78, of Port Charlotte, Fl., formerly of Tiffin, died Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2000 at Fawcett Memorial Hospital in Port Charlotte. She was born May 8, 1922 in Bascom and moved to Port Charlotte, Fl. in 1988 from Tiffin.

Surviving include: her husband, Charles L. Shelt of Port Charlotte, Fl.; a daughter, Kristine K. Palisano of St. Petersburg, FL.; three sisters, Dorothy Pullins of Bascom, Clair Hossler of Scottsdale, AZ., and Judy Hull of Knoxville, TN.; and two grandchildren.

Mrs. Shelt retired as a first grade teacher, a member of the Port Charlotte United Methodist Church; Charlettes of the Elks Lodge 2153; Retired Teachers Association of Port Charlotte; and the American Legion Auxiliary Post 110.

Pastor James R. Kuse will officiate the 10 a.m. Monday funeral services at the Roberson Funeral Home Chapel, 2151 Tamiami Trail, Port Charlotte, Fl. Burial will be at Restlawn Memorial Gardens.

Visitation hours are from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Port Charlotte United Methodist Church, 21075 Quesada Ave., Port Charlotte, FL. 33952-2546.

Alberta M. Watkins
Clyde resident

Alberta M. Watkins, 73, of Fairhome Ave., Clyde, died Thursday, Oct. 5, 2000 at Bellevue Hospital. She was born May 29, 1927 to Albert and Pearl (Mason) Linden. On Nov. 26, 1954 she married William L. Watkins, he died June 2, 1985.

Surviving include: a daughter, Jada C. Watkins of Clyde; and a brother, Billy Lee Linden of Sandusky.

Mrs. Watkins was a 1945 graduate of Clyde High School, she worked for Clyde Porclein Steel and Urges Cake Decoration in Fremont and Sandusky. She was an avid doll collector and animal lover.

The funeral services will be private. Burial will be at McPherson cemetery.

There are no visitation hours scheduled. Funeral arrangements made by the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, Clyde.

Charles T. Dill
Retired Whirlpool Corporation employee

Charles T. Dill, 56, of 325 South Patterson St., Carey, died at 7:44 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2000 in the Emergency Room of Marion General Hospital. He was born Aug. 10, 1944 in Carey to William D. and Geneva Belle (Nutter) Dill, both deceased. On Dec. 20, 1966 he married Margaret J. "Maggie" McClish, and she survives.

Also surviving include: two daughters, Connie D. Kelley of Portsmouth, OH., and Annette M. Myers of Carey; a brother, William Dill of Findlay; four sisters, Mrs. Margaret Barth, Mrs. Jane Bame, Mrs. Ruth Miller, all of Upper Sandusky, and Mrs. Lois Prater of Carey; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by: a granddaughter, Amber M. Weatherholtz; two brothers, Kenneth and George Dill; and a sister, Sarah Swartz.

Mr. Dill was a 1963 graduate of Carey High School. A Veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving from 1964-68. He retired from Whirlpool Corporation of Findlay in May of 1994. A member of Crawford United Methodist Church, Crawford and American Legion Earl Green Post 344 of Carey.

The Rev. Cynthia Morrison will officiate the 10:30 a.m. Saturday funeral service at the Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, 225 West Findlay St., Carey. Burial will be at Spring Grove cemetery.

Visitation hours are from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m., tonight, at the funeral home. A Graveside Military service will be held following the Graveside Service.

Memorials may be made to Wyandot County Heart Support Group, c/o the funeral home.

Guy A. Pangle
American Standard employee

Guy A. Pangle, 77, of Newark, died Thursday, Oct. 5, 2000, at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus.

He was born Nov. 29, 1922, in Strasburg, Va., to the late James A. and Zelda (Beeler) Pangle. He married Evon Schorger, who survives.

Other survivors include: a son, Allen G. of Tampa, Fla.; a daughter, Linda Rae Haynes of Newark; a granddaughter; two brothers, Hershel and Roy A. of Virginia; and two sisters, Loraine Bell of Fort Royal, Va., and Ruth Beeler of Virginia.

He was preceded in death by nine brothers and a sister.

Mr. Pangle, a veteran of the U.S. Air Force who served during World War II, was the owner and operator of Mar-cel Potato Chip Factory and was formerly employed by American Standard Manufacturing Co. He was of the Methodist faith.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the Newark Chapel of Henderson, Van Atta and Johnston Funeral Service with the Rev. Robert Knox officiating. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. in Greenlawn cemetery, Tiffin.

Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, 59 North 5th St., Newark.

Darlene A. Wagner
Fostoria homemaker

Darlene A. Wagner, 79, of 127 Rock St., Fostoria, died Friday, Oct. 6, 2000, in the Toledo Hospital.

She was born July 26, 1921, in Fostoria, to the late Foy and Bessie (Sims) Goebel. On March 20, 1943, in Fostoria, she married Junior E. Wagner, who preceded her in death July 25, 1992.

Surviving are: two sons, D.J. Wagner of Tiffin and Robin M. Wagner of Menlo Park, Calif.; two daughters, Darla J. Steinhauer of Fostoria and Mrs. Dean (Danene M.) Durant of Mebane, N.C.; two brothers, Gene Goebel of Fostoria and Dennis Goebel of North Carolina; three sisters, Mrs. Daniel (Shirley) Flagg of Fostoria, Mrs. Jerry (Marilyn) Hopkins of Cape Coral, Fla. and Mrs. Lee (Joanne) Horvath of Bradenton, Fla.; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Also preceding her in death were a brother, Robert Goebel; and a sister, Marcella Cooper.

Mrs. Wagner, a homemaker, was a graduate of Fostoria High School. She was a member of the Fostoria Eagles Auxiliary.

Public graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Knoll Crest Gardens, near Arcadia, with the Rev. Jeffrey Waite, of High School United Methodist Church, officiating.

Visitation at the Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria, will be private.

Memorials may be made to Kaubisch Memorial Public Library, 205 Perry St., Fostoria, Ohio 44830.

Alma Genevieve (Daniel) Wise
Area residents mother

Alma Genevieve (Daniel) Wise, 89, of Ash Street, Willard, died Saturday, Oct. 7, 2000, in the Hillside Acres Nursing Home, Willard.

She was born May 24, 1911, in Bismark, to William V. and Emma T. (Berberick) Daniel. On June 20, 1933, she married Edward F. Wise, who died July 17, 1973.

Survivors include: five daughters, Mrs. Frank (Rose) Fisher of New Washington, Mrs. Dick (Alice) Shell of Tiro; Mrs. Bob (Evelyn) Langjahr of Attica, Mrs. Norm (Patricia) Shade of Houston, Texas and Mrs. Martin (Margie) Amburgy Mutnansky of New London; 20 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.

A son, Bill Wise; a grandson; a great-granddaughter, a son-in-law, two sisters, Cora Mink and Irene Daniel; and two brothers, Carl and Ambrose Daniel.

Mrs. Wise. who had lived the past 23 years in Willard, was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, its Altar Rosary Society and 55-Plus.

She also was a member of the Senior Citizens group and 60-Plus, both of Willard.

A funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Willard, with the Rev. Melvin Verhoff officiating. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in St. Sebastian Catholic cemetery, Bismark.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday in the Secor Funeral Home, Willard, where a prayer service will be at 8:45 p.m.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
