Jerald L. Donaldson Sr.
World War II veteran

Jerald L. Donaldson Sr., 80, formerly of Bush Street, Fremont, died Saturday, Nov. 18, 2000, at his daughter's home, where he had resided for the past three months.

He was born July 31, 1920, in Gibsonburg, to Bernice V. Donaldson and Eva Maude Smith. On July 29, 1949, in the Fremont home of the late Rev. H.W. Findlay, he married Naomi L. Fuller. She died Sept. 28, 1994.

Survivors include: a son, Jerald Donaldson II of Tiffin; a daughter, Diane Meyer of Fostoria; a sister, Bertha Davies of Ohio City; and five grandchildren.

Two brothers, Ira Richard "Don" and Harold C.; and three sisters, Freda Kill, Dorothy Reed and Mildred Lanier Hejduk, also are deceased.

Mr. Donaldson retired as a material handler in 1985 from Whirlpool Corp., where he had been employed for 36 years. Before that he had worked for Red Star Trucking for two years.

A life member of VFW Post 2947 Fremont, he served during World War II in the U.S. Army Air Corp in the Burma India Campaign, 1942-45.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Wonderly-Horvath Funeral Home, Fremont. Interment will be in Oakwood cemetery, Fremont.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Community Hospice Care, 182 St. Francis Ave., Tiffin, Ohio 44883 or the American Cancer Society.

Raymond J. 'Ray' Weaver
Atlas Crankshaft retiree

Raymond J. "Ray" Weaver, 73, of 414 West St., Carey, died at 11:51 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, 2000, in the Emergency Room at Wyandot Memorial Hospital, Upper Sandusky.

He was born June 22, 1927, in Crawford Township, Wyandot County, to William and Sophia (Landers) Weaver. His wife, Joann (Gase) Weaver, whom he married Oct. 4, 1950, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin, survives.

Other survivors include: six sons, Father Mark Weaver of El Salvador, Paul A. and John Weaver, both of Carey, James Weaver of Tiffin, Patrick Weaver of Findlay and Joseph Weaver, also of Carey; six daughters, Mrs. Ronald (Ann) Zoeller of Kansas,Ohio, Mrs. Greg (Jean) Patton of Carey, Mrs. David (Mary) Burget of Findlay, Mrs. Emery (Joan) Calloway of Upper Sandusky, Mrs. Lee (Jane) Mathias and Mrs. Alan (Lois) Taylor, also both of Carey; 37 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Catherine Vrana of Akron.

A sister, Dorothy Weaver, also is deceased.

Mr. Weaver retired in 1988 from the Atlas Crankshaft in Fostoria. He also was the owner of Weaver Radio for more than 30 years. His CB radio handle name was 'Charlie Weaver.'

A 1945 graduate of Carey High School, he was a member of the Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church, Carey; Carey Knights of Columbus, where he served as past and present grand knight; 4th degree member Archbishop Schrembs Assembly in Tiffin; served as district deputy of 54th District of Knights of Columbus and was a member of K of C's 3rd Degree team.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church, with Father Mark Weaver as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Mary's cemetery, Carey.

Visitation will be 2-5 and 6-9 p.m. Tuesday in the Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, Carey, where the 4th Degree will stand honor guard 7-9 p.m. The rosary will be recited at 2 p.m., a Christian scripture service will be at 8:30 p.m. followed by K of C services Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Central American Franciscan Mission, in care of the Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, 225 W. Findlay St., Carey, Ohio 43316-1169.

Greg A. Johnson
Construction foreman

Greg A. Johnson, 29, of Franklin Avenue, Fremont, died Saturday, Nov. 18, 2000, in Mercy Hospital of Tiffin.

He was born Aug. 26, 1971, in Columbus, to Gary and Alice (Felter) Johnson. They survive in Clyde.

Survivors also include: his fiance, Danylle Smith of Fremont; two children, Cody and Alexis Johnson, both of Fremont; and a brother, Jeffrey Johnson of Gibsonburg.

Mr. Johnson, a 1989 graduate of Clyde High School, was employed as a foreman for Ken Myers Construction. and worked in fiber optics.

He was a member of the Clyde Moose and Eagles.

The service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, Clyde. Interment will be in McPherson cemetery, Clyde.

Visitation is 5-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to his children, Cody and Alexis Johnson, 346 W. Buckeye St., Clyde, Ohio 43410.

Rhoda Belle Fruth
Homemaker/retired clerk

Rhoda Belle Fruth, 78, of 510 W. Fremont St., Fostoria, died at 4:25 a.m. Monday, Nov. 20, 2000, in Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center, Findlay.

She was born July 16, 1922, in Fostoria, to Edward and Hattie (Heiser) Evenbeck. On May 17, 1942, in West Independence, she married Dale E. Fruth, who preceded her in death Sept. 30, 1975.

Surviving are four sons, Ronald Dale Fruth of Fostoria, Garry E. Fruth of Vanlue, Terry L. Fruth of Wauseon and Lt. Col. Timothy D. Fruth of Washington, D.C.; a daughter, Ardis A. Taylor of Franklin, Ky.; a brother, Benjamin Evenbeck of Fostoria; three sisters, Margaret Hartman of Knoxville, Tenn, Lucy Reiter of Fostoria and Luella Lewis of Findlay; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

A granddaughter, Tonya Lynn Fruth; and a brother, Robert Evenbeck, also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Fruth, a homemaker, also had worked as a clerk in a doctor's office in Fort Myers, Fla. for 15 years, retiring in 1991.

A 1942 graduate of Arcadia High School, she was a member of High Street United Methodist Church, Fostoria and its choir.

She also served as a volunteer at Fostoria Community Hospital and the Sharing Kitchen.

The Rev. Jeffrey Waite will be the officiant at the 10:30 a.m. Wednesday service in the High Street United Methodist Church. Interment will be in West Independence cemetery.

Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today in the Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Dorothy M. Gear
Sister of Tiffin resident

Dorothy M. Gear, 87, of Dayton, died Monday, Nov. 20, 2000, in the Heartland of Kettering.

Her husband, Harry F. Gear, is deceased.

Survivors include: a daughter, Judy L. Cecil of Vandalia; a son, Gerald Gear of Columbus; a brother, Robert F. Wilson of Tiffin; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

A son, James Gear; and a daughter, Betty Jean McCann, also preceded her in death.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Tobias Funeral Home, East Third Street Chapel, 1817 E. 3rd St., Dayton, with Pastor Steve Kimpel officiating. Interment will be in Miami Valley Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Karen Sue Schneider
Caregiver

Karen Sue Schneider, 49, of 8090 W. CR 18, Fostoria, died at her home at 5:35 p.m. Monday, Nov. 20, 2000. Arrangements are pending at the Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, Carey.

Guy A. Leslie
Trout River Studio owner

Services for Guy A. Leslie, 45, 4781 E. TR 138, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Izaak Walton League Lodge, 3570 N. CR 33, Pleasant Township, north of Tiffin. He died Friday, Nov. 17, 2000, in the Emergency Care Center of Mercy Hospital of Tiffin. The Rev. Bryan Palmer Smith will officiate. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to the Izaak Walton League or the Tiffin-Seneca Public Library. Arrangements are under the direction of the Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home.

Dalton R. Watkins
Basic Refractories retiree

Dalton R. Watkins, 70, 41 Oakwood Drive, died at 6:33 p.m. Monday, Nov. 20, 2000, in Mercy Hospital of Tiffin. Arrangements are pending at the Turner Engle Funeral Home.

Robert A. Weaver
Seneca County native

Robert A. Weaver, 83, formerly of New Washington Road, Lykens, died at 7:05 a.m. Monday, Nov. 20, 2000, in the Veterans Home in Sandusky. He had been in failing health the past several years.

He was born March 2, 1917, in Seneca County, to William and Anna (Reed) Weaver. His wife, Helene Margaret (Shock) Weaver, whom he married May 1, 1948, died Dec. 25, 1990.

Surviving are a son, Paul Weaver of Tiffin; a daughter, Mrs. Eugene (Barbara) Kocher of Bucyrus and four grandchildren.

A sister, Ruth Aldine Strohm, also is deceased.

Mr. Weaver, a Swan Rubber Co. retiree, also farmed and worked as a fireman on the Pennsylvania Railroad in Crestline.

A 1936 graduate of Chatfield High School, he was a member of College Hill United Church of Christ.

Pastor Dan Ward will conduct the 10:30 a.m. Wednesday service in the College Hill United Church of Christ. Burial will be in College Hill cemetery.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home, Bucyrus.

Memorials may be made to the church, in care of the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home, 215 N. Walnut St., Bucyrus, Ohio 44820.

Mildred E. Cramer
Retired school secretary

Mildred E. Cramer, 74, of 460 Linwood Ave., Fostoria, died at 8:35 a.m. Monday, Nov. 20, 2000, in the Independence House, Fostoria.

She was born May 13, 1926, in Marion, to Martin H. and Lottie (Oberlin) Groman. On Jan. 2, 1949, in Fostoria, she married Karl Cramer, who died in 1986.

A son, Major Gregory K. Cramer U.S.M.C. of Virginia Beach, Va., survives.

She also was preceded in death by a brother, Martin Groman Jr.; and two sisters, Helen Groman and Theodocia Brown.

Mrs. Cramer, a 1944 graduate of Fostoria High School, had been employed as a secretary for 10 years in the Fostoria City Schools, retiring in 1990.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Elks Emblem Club, both of Fostoria and a former member of the Fostoria Country Club.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria. Interment will be in Fountain cemetery, Fostoria.

There will be no visitation.

Memorials may be made to Kaubisch Memorial Public Library, Fostoria or the the Ritz Theatre.

Justin David Abel
Seneca East sophomore

Justin David Abel, 15, 5956 TR 106 (Coe Road), died Monday afternoon, Nov. 20, 2000, in an automobile accident on Coe Road.

He was born Nov. 24, 1984, at the U.S. Military Academy &endash; West Point, N.Y., to James and Shannon (Eckard) Abel, who survive at 5956 TR 106.

Other survivors include his maternal grandparents, James and Mary Eckard of Toronto, Ohio; paternal grandparents, Ronald and Patricia Abel of Oreana, Ill. and Marshall and Nancy Conway of Decatur, Ill.; and a sibling, Stephanie Abel, at home.

Jason, a sophomore at Seneca East High School, was active in wrestling, track, band, concert choir and show choir.

A resident of the Tiffin area for the past 13 years, he was a member of the First Christian Church in Tiffin.

Memorial services are at 3 p.m. today in the First Christian Church, with the Rev. David Mills officiating.

Visitation is 1:30 p.m. today until time of the service at the church.

The Turner-Engle Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the Seneca East Music Boosters or the church.

Dorothy Winkler-Schafer
Retired health department clerk

Dorothy Winkler-Schafer, 96, died at 5:13 p.m. Monday, Nov. 20, 2000, in St. Catherine's Care Center, Findlay, where she resided.

She was born June 18, 1904, in Hancock County, to Charles and Susan (Gossman) Winkler. On June 24, 1939, in Findlay, she married Harold Schafer, who died Nov. 7, 1948.

Several nieces and nephews survive.

Also preceding her in death were four brothers, Lloyd, Ivan, Ralph and Leroy Winkler; and four sisters, Ruth Winkler, Lillian Crane, Bessie Marquart and Kathryn Thompson.

Mrs. Schafer, a 1922 graduate of Rawson High School, retired in 1972 as a clerk from the Hancock County Health Department.

She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Findlay and the Findlay Senior Citizens.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the Eagle Creek cemetery, New Stark, Ohio, with the Rev. Susan J. Kronbach officiating.

There will be no visitation. The Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Harold T. 'Ted' Miller
Farmer/inventive mechanic

Harold T. "Ted" Miller, 79, of 13623 E. SR 162, Republic, died Monday, Nov. 20, 2000, in St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo, following a brief illness.

He was born July 26, 1921, in Reed Township, Seneca County, to Joseph A. and Amelia (Bischoff) Miller. He first married Mary Dorothy Fox, who died Nov. 30, 1978. He later married Irene M. (Phillips) McLaughlin on Sept. 8, 1979, in St. Joseph's Church, Plymouth. She survives.

Survivors also include: three sons, Stephen R. and Charles E. Miller, both of Republic and William J. Miller of Windsor, Pa.; four daughters, Elizabeth A. Miller of Galion, Barbara M. Dietrich of Fayetteville, N.C., Joanne D. Bernard of Attica and Regina L. Williams of Tiffin; 28 grandchildren and a great-granddaughter; a brother, Leon J. Miller of Republic; three step-daughters, Rosemarie Jaeckin of Plymouth, Barbara A. Holt of Ventura, Calif. and Mary L. Martin-Bandman of Shelby; a sister, Mrs. Robert (Tillie) Grover of Attica.

Mr. Miller, a life-long farmer, also was an inventive mechanic.

A U.S. Navy veteran, he was a member of Reed Assumption Catholic Church.

The Rev. John M. Nagele will conduct the 10 a.m. Saturday service in Reed Assumption Catholic Church, Reed Township. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Visitation will be 1-5 and 7-9 p.m. Friday in the Lindsey-Foos-Kocher Funeral Service, 1295 W. Tiffin St., Attica, where a Christian wake service will be at 8:30 p.m..

Memorials may be made to the church, the American Heart Association, the Kidney Foundation or the donor's choice.
