Dorothy H. Apple
(1927 - 2004)

MONTPELIER - Dorothy Helen Apple, 77, of Montpelier, died Thursday, July 22, 2004, at Park View Nursing Center, Edgerton, where she had been a resident for the past four months.
Born April 29, 1927, at Defiance County, she was the daughter of Edna (Breininger) and Glenn Lee Apple.
An administrative assistant for the United States State Department-Department of Foreign Service for 25 years, she had served in Korea, Japan, Turkey, Africa and Afghanistan. She was a former member of the United Methodist Church in Washington D.C., the County Cousins and also the Rug Hooking Guild.
Surviving are two sisters, Neva Bok of Sherwood and Emma Faye Kammeyer of Bryan; three brothers, Richard (and wife, Joyce) Apple of Alvordton, Howard (Mildred) Apple of Bryan and Morris John Apple of Sarasota, Fla.
Preceding her in death were her parents and two sisters, Norma Lee Roesch and Zelma Lorraine Apple.
Visitation will be held Friday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. in the Krill Funeral Home, Bryan. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home with Evangelist James Stoner to officiate. Interment will be in Sherwood Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers-Hospice Care, or a charity of the donor's choice.

Percy Oliver Nelson
(1918 - 2004)

Percy Oliver Nelson, 86, of Bryan, died early Wednesday, July 14, 2004, at Harborside Healthcare Northwestern Ohio-Bryan.
Born Jan. 15, 1918, at Ellsworth, Wis., to Clara J. (Hilden) and Arthur S. Nelson, he married Aileen L. Spire-Miller on Nov. 27, 1954, at Auburn, Ind. and she preceded him in death on May 29, 2002. Employed by S.J. Groves Company from 1953 until 1976, he retired from Winzeler Excavating-Bryan in 1977.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Jim (Roberta) Dell of Bryan and Bonnie Manley of Ash, N.C.; five grandsons, Jeremy Miller, Taylor, Charles and Samuel Dell, and Ian Manley; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Orville (and wife, Doris) Nelson of Prescott, Wis. and Robert Nelson of Ellsworth, Wis.; and a sister, Gladys Longley of Crystal, Minn.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; a stepson, Daniel Miller; three brothers, Donald, Fred and John Nelson; and a sister, Alice Paulus.
Visitation will be held Saturday from 2-8 p.m. in the Oberlin-Ford Funeral Home-Bryan.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. David Miller to officiate. Burial will follow in the Farmer Cemetery, Farmer.
Memorials may be made to Lick Creek Church of the Brethren, Bryan.

Pauline Marie Jennings
(1922 - 2004)

WEST UNITY - Pauline Marie Jennings, 82, of West Unity, died Wednesday morning, July 21, 2004, at her residence.
Born Jan. 4, 1922, at Bryan, to Nettie (Shrock) and Homer Culbertson, she married Donald V. Jennings, and he preceded her in death on July 17, 1988.
A graduate of Bryan High School, she was employed at a secretary for the Mendelson's Egg Plant in West Unity for 30 years.
She was a member of the West Unity United Methodist Church, the Garden Club of West Unity, the Williams County Fair Foundation, Hilltop High School Boosters and a past member of the Hilltop High School Band Boosters.
Surviving is a son, Carson (and wife, Terry) Jennings of West Unity; two granddaughters, Mrs. Brad (Justine) Kosier of Bryan and Dawn Jennings of West Unity; two grandsons, Jeremy (Aubrey) Jennings and Jason Jennings, both of West Unity; four great-grandchildren, Kayleen and Carson Jennings and Jestin and Americus Maddox, all of West Unity; and a sister, Lola Pardee of Bryan. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Carter Jennings; a daughter, Janet Dickenson; a granddaughter, Carla Dickenson; three brothers, Howard, Nick and Herbie Culbertson; a sister, Dorothy Dossett; and a brother-in-law, Dick Pardee.
Visitation will held Friday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. in the Hollingshead-Beck Funeral Home in West Unity.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Ruth Ann Scoby to officiate. Burial will be in the Floral Grove Cemetery in West Unity.
Memorials may be made to the West Unity United Methodist Church.

Doris M. Rowe
(1921 - 2004)

Doris Marie Rowe, 82, of Bryan, died early Wednesday morning, July 21, 2004, at her residence.
Born Dec. 23, 1921, at Pulaski, to Myrtle ( White ) and Elsworth Bostater, she married Barton E. Rowe on Nov. 19, 1941, at Bryan, and he survives.
A homemaker, she was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church and the Farmer American Legion Auxiliary.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Barton F. (and wife, Pat) Rowe of Bryan; a daughter, Joyce M. Rowe of Largo, Fla.; four sisters, Mrs. Eldon (Viola) Leslie of Montpelier, Mrs. Thoral (Virginia) Mitchell of Bryan, Willina Kornrumpf of Bryan and Vileta Koch of Orlando, Fla.; four grandchildren, Mrs. Jeff (Denise) Marsh, Mrs. Ken (Sheila) Ramsay, Barton E. (Barbara) Rowe and Jandy Rowe; and nine great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents; a sister, Nellie Ladd; and five brothers, Roland Boothman, Elsworth Bud Bostater, Richard Bostater, Roger Bostater and William Bostater.
Visitation will be held today from 6-8 p.m. and Friday from 10 a.m. until noon in the Burr Funeral Home and Crematory, Bryan.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 3:30 p.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Roy Nelson to officiate. Burial will follow at Farmer Cemetery, Farmer.
Memorials may be made to Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers Hospice Program.

Raymond A. Avers
(1935 - 2004)

ARCHBOLD - Raymond A. Avers, 69, of Archbold, died suddenly Monday afternoon, July 19, 2004, at St. Vincent-Mercy Medical Center in Toledo, due to injuries sustained in a fall at his home earlier on Monday.
Born July 1, 1935, at Elliston, to Esther (Smearsoll) and Walter Avers, he married Leta Rae Blausey on Sept. 27, 1958, and she survives.
An Army veteran, he had worked for Dinner Bell Foods in Archbold for 33 years and at Sauder Woodworking in Archbold until his retirement. He was a member of St. Martin's Lutheran Church in Archbold where he held various positions of leadership within the church.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two sons, Dan (and wife, Angie) Avers and Tom (Brenda) Avers, both of Archbold; a daughter, Mrs. Paul (Carolyn) Ruew of Gainesville, Va.; four grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; seven stepgreat-grandchildren; his mother, Esther Avers of Elmore; three brothers, Richard (Peg) Avers of Greenville, Texas, Clarence (Becky) Avers of Cape Corral, Fla., and Kenneth (Donna) Avers of Clyde; and a sister, Mrs. Norm (Gladys) Kruse of Elmore.
Preceding him in death were his father; and a sister, Alice Heckman.
Visitation will be held Thursday and Friday from 2-5 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. in St. Martin's Fellowship Hall.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in St. Martin's Lutheran Church with Pastor Thomas Lyberg to officiate. Private interment will precede in the Archbold Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the church or to a charity of the donor's choice.
Short Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Dorothy V. Rossetti
(1919 - 2004)

HILLSDALE, Mich. - Dorothy V. Rossetti, 84, of Hillsdale, died Sunday, July 18, 2004, at the Hillsdale County Medical Care Facility.
The daughter of Cula (Hardesty) and Nelson Fisher, she was born Dec. 1, 1919, in Kunkle, Ohio. In 1942 she married Joseph Rossetti, and he survives.
She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Hillsdale, where she had served as president and vice president of the Altar Society. She had also been a Cub Scout and campfire leader. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are a daughter, Mrs. Greg (Kathy) Kurtz of Hillsdale; two stepdaughters, Judy Dospoy of North Adams and Mrs. Art (Kay Ann) Oberlin of Detroit; two grandchildren; eight stepgrandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were a son, Joey in 1962; two brothers; and two sisters. There will be no visitation.
A memorial Mass will be Saturday, Aug. 14 at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Memorials may be made to St. Anthony Catholic Church; Hillsdale County Senior Services Center; or Hospice of Hillsdale County.
Arrangements are by Kurtz Funeral Home of Hillsdale.
