Miriam J. Brocklesby, 83, of 521 S. 8th St., Upper Sandusky, died at 6:25 a.m. Friday, Dec. 15, 2000, in the Fairhaven Health Care Community, Upper Sandusky.

She was born July 22, 1917, in Wyandot County to Edward and Fanny V. (Kail) Horn. She married Charles Brocklesby March 20, 1953, and he survives.

Also surviving are: two sons, Joseph A. of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Dallas E. of Upper Sandusky; a step-son, Robert W. of Upper Sandusky; two daughters, Mrs. David (Judith) Ashmore of Columbus, and Mrs. Kenneth (Cheryl) Bachtell of Upper Sandusky; 14 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers, Charles Horn of Cleveland and Chester Horn of Forest.

Preceding her in death were a grandson; two brothers, Howard and Kenneth Horn; and a sister, Bernice Stalder.

She was a 1936 graduate of Marseilles High School; homemaker; worked for Ohio Bell, Upper Sandusky, for 20 years and had been employed at Kimmel Cleaners; member of Marseilles Presbyterian Church and attended Trinity Evangelical Church of Upper Sandusky, Ladies Auxiliary of VFW of Upper Sandusky, Ladies Auxiliary of Eagles, Upper Sandusky; liked to sew, cook, can; and enjoyed her grandchildren and her garden.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Bringman Clark and Co. Funeral Home, Upper Sandusky, with the Rev. Derik Hines and the Rev. John Hoover officiating. Burial will be in the Old Mission cemetery, Upper Sandusky.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to either the Wyandot Health Foundation or to the Wyandot County Home Health Agency, c/o Bringman Clark and Co. Funeral Home, 226 E. Wyandot Ave., Upper Sandusky, OH 43351.

Dorothy M. Jones
Retired registered nurse

Dorothy M. Jones, 83, of St. Catherine's Care Center and formerly of Upper Sandusky, died at 5:25 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 14, 2000, in St. Catherine's Care Center, Findlay.

She was born Aug. 2, 1917, in Kenton to Roy and Lena (Beach) Crawford and married Harold A. Jones April 25, 1941. He died Sept. 11, 1982.

Surviving are: a son, Larry A. Jones of Findlay; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A brother, Verdin Crawford, preceded her in death.

She graduated from Kenton High School and the St. Rita's School of Nursing in Lima; a retired registered nurse for 50 years working at Wyandot Memorial Hospital, Wyandot County Nursing Home, Wyandot Manor and Wyandot Home Health Agency; was a member of Mt. Victory United Methodist Church; and loved to make crafts and play cards.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Bringman Clark and Co. Funeral Home, Upper Sandusky, with the Rev. John Hoover officiating and interment in Oak Hill cemetery.

Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Wyandot County Home Health Agency, c/o Bringman Clark and Co. Funeral Home, 226 E. Wyandot Ave., Upper Sandusky, OH 43351.

Nancy E. Brinkman
Turkey farm co-owner

Nancy E. Brinkman, 79, of 16314 SR 68, Findlay, died at 12:33 a.m. Friday, Dec. 15, 2000, in the emergency room at Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center.

Mrs. Brinkman was born July 3, 1921, in Delaware Twp., Hancock County, to William Fred and A. Pearl (Weidman) Rinehart. She married Rex E. Brinkman Feb. 14, 1940, in Decatur, Ind. and he survives.

Also surviving are: two sons, Larry E. and Joe R., both of Arlington; two daughters, Mrs. Herbert W. (Brenda S.) Seelbach Jr. of Findlay and Mrs. Robert D. (Linda C.) Elsea of Arlington; six grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Hindall of Findlay and Evelyn Griswold of Chesterton, Ind.

Preceding her in death were: a step-great-grandchild; a brother, S. Joe Rinehart; and a sister, Helen Savidge.

She was a 1939 graduate of Mt. Blanchard High School; a member of St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, Findlay; a homemaker; co-owner of Brinkmans Turkey Farm, Inc. where she was currently secretary and treasurer.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, Findlay, with the Rev. Douglas N. Mullins officiating. Burial will be in Bishop cemetery, Eagle Twp., Hancock County.

Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. today and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the Coldren-Crates Funeral Home, Findlay and one hour prior to the the funeral on Monday at the church.

Memorials may be made to St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, Findlay, or to Appleseed EMS or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Jean Audrey Huesman
Aunt of Tiffin residents

Jean Audrey Huesman, 61, of Ackley, Iowa, and formerly of Forest and Findlay, died Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2000, in Cedar Falls, Iowa.

She was born Sept. 10, 1939, to Robert F. and Mary Marguerite (Arnold) Huesman, Sr.

She is survived by four sisters, Joan Omlor of Findlay, Ruth Sons and Kathy Huesman of Tucson, Ariz. and Mary Wieth of Des Moines, Wash.; many nieces and nephews including Christopher Huesman, Mary Huss and Elizabeth Herron of Tiffin.

Her parents and a brother, Robert F. Huesman, Jr. are deceased.

She was a homemaker.

A memorial service will be conducted at a later date.

Florence L. Karle
Homemaker

Florence L. Karle, 89, 182 St. Francis Ave., formerly of 40 Indian Lane, died at 7:26 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, 2000, in Mercy Hospital of Tiffin.

She was born Aug. 15, 1911, in Old Fort, to John William and Caroline (Zitzer) Elmers. On Nov. 26, 1932, in Fremont, she married Rudolph Karle, who preceded her in death Dec. 8, 1984.

Survivors include: two sons, Rudolf E. Karle of Tiffin and William Max Karle of San Manuel, Ariz.; two daughters, Mrs. John (Marilyn) Grieselding of Fort Myers Beach, Fla., and Mrs. Timothy (Sandra) Robenalt of Marquette, Mich.; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Two grandchildren; five sisters, Anne, Caroline, Gertrude, Estella and Alma; and a brother, William, also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Karle, a homemaker, was employed as a cook for 10 years in the Columbian High School cafeteria.

A 1929 graduate of Fremont High School, where she served as class valedictorian, she was a member of First Lutheran Church and its Victory Class.

The Rev. Margaret M. Marks will be the officiant at the 2 p.m. Monday service in the First Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Seneca Memory Gardens.

Visitation is 7-9 p.m. today in the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Community Hospice Care, St. Francis Home or the church.

Walter C. Bertsch
Retired pipe fitter

Walter C. Bertsch, 80, of 137 Charlotte Ave., Bellevue, died Saturday, Dec. 16, 2000, in the Ohio Veterans Home, Sandusky.

He was born Sept. 15, 1920, in Seneca County, to John and Loretta (Michaels) Bertsch. His wife, Leona E. (Schneider) Bertsch, whom he married June 15, 1949, at the Sorrowful Mother Shrine, died in 1998.

Surviving are three sons, John Bertsch of Clyde, Eugene "Gene" Bertsch of Columbus and James "Jim" Bertsch of Wapakoneta; two daughters, Mrs. Bob (Joan) Sweet of Bellevue and Mrs. Jim (Linda) Barber of Raleigh, N.C.; eight grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and a brother, Arthur Bertsch of Bellevue.

Eight brothers, Edward, Albert, George, Leander, Richard, Herman, Robert and an infant; and two sisters, Gertrude Ecos and Cordula Wise, also are deceased.

Mr. Bertsch, a World War II U.S. Army Air Corp veteran, having served 1942-45, retired as a pipe fitter from New Departure in Sandusky, where he had been employed 1947-85.

He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Knights of Columbus, Third Degree, Eagles, VFW and American Legion, all of Bellevue.

The service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 231 E. Center St., Bellevue, with the Rev. Robert Tuccerri officiating. Interment will be in Bellevue Catholic cemetery.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday in the Foos and Son Funeral Home, Bellevue, where the rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m.

Memorials may be made to Immaculate Conception Endowment Fund, 231 E. Center St., Bellevue, OH 44811; Stein Hospice, 1200 Sycamore Ave., Sandusky; or the Sorrowful Mother Shrine, 4106 N. SR 269, Bellevue.

James L. Rowles
Retired bank vice president

James L. "Jimmy" Rowles, 79, of 3188 Stuart Road, Fostoria, formerly of Bloomdale, died at 9:59 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15, 2000, in Fostoria Community Hospital.

He was born May 21, 1921, in Fostoria, to James L. Sr. and Laura "Pet" (Knipfer) Rowles. On Oct. 10, 1942, in Fostoria, he married Mildred J. Pelton, who died Aug. 21, 1994. He later married Hazel G. Coppler on Nov. 11, 2000, in St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria. She survives in Fostoria.

Other survivors include: a son, David M. Rowles of Toledo; and a grandson, Andrew James Rowles, also of Toledo.

A sister, Dorothy L. Dennis, also is deceased.

Mr. Rowles, a 1939 graduate of Fostoria High School, retired in 1985 as vice president from Society Bank (now KeyBank) in Fostoria, after 44 years of service.

He also had written for the Fostoria Focus the past year under the pen name L.J. Selwor.

A World War II U.S. Army Air Force veteran, he was active in the Fostoria Glass Gallery.

The Rev. Daniel J. Ring of St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria, will conduct the 10:30 a.m. Tuesday service in the Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria. Interment will be in Riverview cemetery, West Millgrove, where military graveside rites will be conducted by the United Veterans of Fostoria.

Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Humane Society or a charity of the donor's choice.

Francis E. Russell
St. Francis Home resident

Francis E. Russell, 97, died Sunday, Dec. 17, 2000, in St. Francis Nursing Home of Tiffin, where she resided. Arrangements are pending at the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home.

Helen V. Wax
Centenarian/retired teacher

Helen V. Wax, 102, formerly of 704 Napoleon St., Fremont, died at 4:15 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 16, 2000, in Bethesda Care Center, Sandusky County, Fremont, where she had been a resident since Nov. 25, 1992.

She was born Sept. 25, 1898, in Wyandot County, to Cyrus and Hattie (Bretz) Bartholomew. On May 7, 1919, in her home in Bloom Township, Seneca County, she married Clifford John Wax, who is deceased.

Surviving are seven children, Mrs. Earl (Harriet) Major of Mechanicsburg, Pa., Mrs. William (Margaret) Boehm of West Palm Beach, Fla., Dale C. Wax of Woodville, Mrs. Art (Violet) Huebner of Waterville, Nevin L. Wax of Murfeesboro, Tenn., Mrs. Burnell (Anita) Moneghan of Port Clinton and Howard E. Wax of Castalia; 16 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and a step-great-great-grandchild.

Also preceding her in death were two grandchildren; two brothers, Paul and Harry Bartholomew; and three sisters, Naomi Gordon, Hattie Ziegler and Alta Williams.

Mrs. Wax, a retired school teacher and homemaker, had lived in the Sandusky County area since 1934 at 708 Napoleon St., Fremont and at Sunny Knoll Farm, 911 CR 181, Fremont.

She was a member of the First Church of God, Fremont and a former member of Green Creek Women's Farm Club, Sandusky County Farm Bureau Council, Green Springs Grange, Pomona Grange, State and National Grange, Community Weavers Guild, the Missionary Guild of the church and Fremont Talented Quilt Makers.

She also served on the Board of Elections as an election worker in Ballville Township, Sandusky County.

Pastor Richard C. Mick will be the officiant at the 11 a.m. Tuesday service in the Engle-Young Funeral Home of Green Springs. Burial will be in Bakertown cemetery, rural Clyde.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. Tuesday until time of the service at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Lucile Bowersox
Bascom native

Lucile Bowersox, 84, of St. Joseph Street, Fremont, died Sunday, Dec. 17, 2000, in the Forrestal Skilled Nursing and Rehab Center, Princeton, N.J.

She was born Jan. 21, 1916, in Bascom, to George Ammon and Elma (Hartzel) Walter. Her husband, Clifford W. Bowersox, whom she married Nov. 28, 1935, died March 6, 1961.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Chuck (Marilyn) Rutledge of Pennington, N.J.; a son, Larry Bowersox of San Diego, Calif.; two grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, a great-grandchild and five step-great-grandchildren; a sister, Evelyn Weller of Bascom; and two brothers, M. Donald Walter of Mission Viejo, Calif. and C. Robert Walter of Bascom.

Two brothers, Orville E. Walters and Kenneth E. Walter; and a grandson, also are deceased.

Mrs. Bowersox, a homemaker and former bookkeeper for Whirlpool Cafe and Limerick Builders, was an active member of Mount Carmel United Methodist Church.

Also a member of York Circle, Clyde Senior Citizens, Fremont Eagles Auxiliary and its REAC, she was the recipient of the Eagles "Mother of the Year" award.

She was a former secretary of the Ohio State Home Demonstration Council and served as a volunteer in the Golden Threads office of Fremont Memorial Hospital.

The Rev. David Vensel will conduct the 1 p.m. Thursday service in Mount Carmel United Methodist Church. Interment will be in York Free Chapel cemetery.

Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. Wednesday in the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, Clyde.

Memorials may be made to the church.

Howard J. Fredritz
Seneca/Wyandot County farmer

Howard J. Fredritz, 74, of 10403 W. CR 58, Carey, died at 1:41 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, 2000, in Fostoria Community Hospital.

He was born Sept. 22, 1926, in Seneca County, to John and Matilda (Reinhart) Fredritz. On Feb. 4, 1948, in St. Boniface Catholic Church, New Riegel, he married Agnes M. Ariza, who survives.

Other survivors include: 10 children, Thomas J. of Tiffin, Mrs. Howard (Norma R.) Fox of Millfield, Donnie W., Joe C., Bob H. and Mrs. Earl (Martha A.) Weinandy, all of Carey, Mrs. Dan (Teresa A.) Smith, also of Tiffin, Mrs. Tom (Donna M.) Bouillon of New Riegel, Mrs. Douglas (Debra S.) Rall of Upper Sandusky and Eddie J. of Carey; 30 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren; four brothers, Paul of Vanlue, Herman of Alvada, James and William, both of Carey; and a sister, Mrs. Howard (Rita) Pahl of Carey.

Also preceding him in death were a great-granddaughter; and a brother, Henry.

Mr. Fredritz, a life-long Seneca/Wyandot County farmer, was a member of the Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church, Carey.

An avid bowler, hunter and fourwheeler, he was an honorary member of Knights of Columbus 1925, Carey; and a member of Moose Lodge 872, New Riegel and the North America Hunting Club.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church, with the Rev. Arthur Young OFM Conv., as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery, Carey.

Visitation will be 2-9 p.m. Tuesday in the Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, Carey, where a Christian wake service will be at 8:30 p.m., followed by K of C memorial services.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
