Leota K. Hainen
Former Fostoria homemaker

Leota K. Hainen, 91, formerly of Fostoria, died at 11:36 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001, in the Ruffing Care Center, Tiffin, where she resided.

She was born Aug. 22, 1909, in Hancock County, to Nicholas and Katherine (Fruth) Hainen.

Several cousins survive.

She also was preceded in death by a brother, Lavoin N. Hainen.

A homemaker, Miss Hainen was a former member of High Street United Methodist Church, Fostoria and attended the First Lutheran Church in Tiffin.

The Rev. Margaret M. Marks will be the officiant at the 11 a.m. Thursday service in the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria. Burial will be in Union cemetery, West Independence.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Allen Eiry Senior Center.

Patricia Ellen Dick
Former Clyde resident

Patricia Ellen Dick, 50, of Canton, formerly of Clyde, died Monday, Jan. 1, 2001, in Canton, following a long illness.

She was born in Monroe, Mich. to Albert and Nellie (Fultz) Dick, who survive in Rockford, Ind. On April 8, 1975, in Bellevue, she married David Dick. He survives in Canton.

Other survivors include: three sons, David L. Dick of Delphi, Ind., Mark Dick of Alliance and Shannon Dick of Canton; two daughters, Sara Hoover of Canton and Lynn Bucklew of Fremont; 18 grandchildren; three brothers, David, Carlie and Steven Fultz, all of Pittsburg, Ind.; and two sisters, Elizabeth Allison of Dayton and Karen Daniels of Texas.

Mrs. Dick, a homemaker, was a former member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Clyde.

The service will be at noon Saturday in the Earl B. Jack Funeral Home, 1307 Ohio Ave., Canton, where visitation will take place from 11 a.m. until time of the service..

Friends also will be received 12:30-1 p.m. Monday in Greenlawn Memory Gardens Chapel, Clyde. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Greenlawn Memory Gardens.

The Foos-Klein Funeral Home, Clyde, is in charge of arrangements.

Charles Junior Cable
Father of Republic residents

Charles Junior Cable, 74, of 2839 Old NC Highway 18, Morganton, N.C., died Friday, Dec. 29, 2000, in the V.A. Hospital, Oteen, N.C.

A native of Swain County, N.C., he was the son of the Late Charles A. and Flora (Mitchell) Cable. His wife, Betty (White) Cable, died Dec. 23, 2000.

Survivors include: a son, Jeffrey Cable of Morganton; two daughters, Marian Green and Vyjean Young, both of Republic; two brothers, Russell and Don Cable, both of Marion, N.C.; three sisters, Glenna White of Wilmington, N.C.and Evelyn Monroe and Jean Gordon, both of Marion, N.C.; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

A great-grandson, also is deceased..

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Western North Carolina State Veteran's cemetery, with the Rev. Don Cable officiating. Military honors will be conducted at the graveside by the Buncombe County Memorial Team.

The Asheville Mortuary, Asheville, N.C., is in charge of arrangements.

Mary Jo Gase
Webster retiree/glass worker

Mary Jo Gase, 88, 2320 W. CR 6, formerly of 213 Fourth Ave., died at 8:20 a.m.Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001, in the Ruffing Family Care Center of Tiffin.

She was born Feb. 15, 1912, in Tiffin, to Joseph and Margaret (Zapf) Kastner. Her husband, Herman J. Gase, whom she married in St. Joseph Church, Tiffin, died Oct. 15, 1980.

Surviving are two brothers, Paul and George Kastner, both of Tiffin; and 14 nephews and nieces.

Two brothers, William and Ray Kastner, also are deceased.

Mrs. Gase, a 1928 graduate of Calvert High School, had been employed as a glass cutter at the former Tiffin Glass Co. for 25 years. She also retired from Webster Mfg. Co. after 13 years as a drill press operator in the machine shop.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, its Altar Rosary Society and choir.

A funeral Mass will take place at 10:30 a.m. Friday in St. Joseph Catholic Church, with Msgr Edward Dunn as celebrant. The rosary will be recited at the church at 10:15 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday in the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home, where a wake service will be at 3:45 p.m.

Memorials may be made to Calvert Foundation, the church or a charity of the donor's choice.

Virgil Hoffbauer
Alvada Tractor Sales owner

Virgil Hoffbauer, 88, of Alvada, died at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001, in Elmwood Assisted Living, Tiffin, following an extended illness.

He was born May 25, 1912, in Alvada, to Peter and Margaret (Kinn) Hoffbauer. His wife, Mary Magdelin (Haubert) Hoffbauer, whom he married Nov. 29, 1934, in St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Frenchtown, died March 5, 2000.

Survivors include: a daughter, Mrs. Michael (Judy) Hall of Alvada; and two grandsons..

Also preceding him in death were four brothers, Philemon, Fidalious, Emmett and Ernest Hoffbauer and six sisters, Helen Finsel, Lucy Mathias, Regina Yost, Rosie Hoffbauer, Frances Hoffbauer and Sister Irene O.S.F.

Mr. Hoffbauer, a World War II U.S. Navy veteran, was the life owner/operator of Alvada Tractor Sales.

He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, Alvada; Third Degree Knights of Columbus Council 1197, Fostoria; Fostoria Eagles 430, New Riegel American Legion Post 354 and Moose Lodge 872, New Riegel.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Peter Catholic Church, with the Rev. Harry Cavanaugah C.PP.S. officiating. The rosary will be recited at the church at 10:10 a.m. Saturday. Interment will be in the parish cemetery, where military graveside honors will be led by New Riegel American Legion.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Friday in the Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria, where a Christian wake service will be at 3:30 p.m. and American Legion memorial services at 8 p.m.

Memorials may be made to St. Peter's Bell Tower Restoration Fund, St. Mary's School Library or Tiffin Right to Life.

Grace Moyer Donnenwirth
Retired teacher

Grace Moyer Donnenwirth, 92, formerly of Woodland Place, Clyde, died Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001, in the Elmwood Nursing Home, Green Springs.

She was born Feb. 10, 1908, in Sandusky County, York Township, to Edward J. and Katherine Lilly Moyer. On June 10, 1947, she married George A. Donnenwirth, who died April 26, 1977.

Surviving are two nieces, Pat Zepernick of Fremont and Sharon Thayer of Clyde; and a nephew, David Moyer, also of Clyde; and great nieces and nephews.

Two brothers, Glenn and Clarence "Pete" Moyer, also are deceased.

Mrs. Donnenwirth, a 1926 Clyde High School graduate, a 1928 Bowling Green Normal School graduate and a 1933 graduate of Bowling Green State University, was employed as a teacher in the Chippewea, Townsend and York Schools for 38 years, retiring in the i970s..

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and its Philathea Circle, Eastern Star 73, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and the Clyde Garden Club, all of Clyde; the Sandusky County Retired Teachers, Ohio Education Association and the National Education Association.

The Rev. John Bailey will be the officiant at the 1:30 p.m. Saturday service in the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, Clyde. Interment will be in McPherson cemetery, Clyde.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. Saturday until time of the service at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the church, Alzheimer's Association or Sandusky County Hospice.

Mahlon Charles Bradford
Father of Fostoria resident

Mahlon Charles Bradford, 70, of Circle Drive, Fremont, died Wednesday morning, Jan. 3, 2001, in the Emergency Room of Memorial Hospital, Fremont.

He was born March 16, 1930, in Fremont, to the late Arthur J. and Luelle May (Beard) Bradford. In 1950, he married Lucille J. Schultz, who preceded him in death in 1995. He later married Lois (Bouyack) Carnicom on May 2, 1999, in St. Mark Lutheran Church, Fremont. She survives.

Other survivors include: two daughters, Mrs. Don (Cheryl Marie) Karr and Cynthia May Preston, both of Fremont; a son, Joseph L. Bradford of Fostoria; two step sons, Kevin Carnicom of Toledo and Kent Carnicom of Fremont; a step daughter, Karen Heater of Fremont; a brother, George W. Bradford of Bowling Green, Ky.; nine grandchildren, three step grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He also was preceded in death by a sister, Henrietta Brockway.

Mr. Bradford, a 1949 graduate of Fremont Ross High School, was a semi-retired electronic technicial with La Mar Joseph's TV and Appliance.

He was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, where he served as vice president of its Church Council and was a member of its choir. He also served as treasurer of the NorthWest Ohio Amateur Astronomers Club.

He enjoyed golf, tennis, music, computers and researching geneaology.

The service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in St. Mark Lutheran Church, where his body will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, Clyde.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday in the Nopper-Karlovetz Mortuary, Fremont.

Memorials may be made to the church.

Outh Chaialee
Grocery store owner/seamstress

Outh Chaialee, 64, of 2699 Minerva Ave., Columbus, formerly of Bucyrus, died at 5:40 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001, in the Emergency Room of St. Ann's Hospital, Westerville.

She was born Oct. 13, 1936, in Laos, to the late Thep and Nang Gibbuopa. In 1949, in Laos, she married Inphay Chaialee. He survives in Stockton, Calif.

Other survivors include: six sons, Oune, Salong and Chamloy Chaialee, all of Carey, Loph Chaialee of Marion, Taduan Chaialee of Boston, Mass. and Boonseun Chaialee, also of Carey; a daughter, Sengdao (Chaialee) Franklin of Columbus;19 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; a brother, Chan Gibbuopa of Thailand; and a sister, Van Gibbuopa of Laos.

A brother, Laud Gibbuopa, also is deceased.

Mrs. Chaialee, who attended Good Hope Lutheran Church, Bucyrus, was the former owner of a grocery store in Laos and also worked as a seamstress.

The service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, Carey. Burial will be in Spring Grove cemetery, Carey.

Visitation will be 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice, in care of the Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, 225 W. Findlay St., Carey, OH 43316-1169.

Lucile J. Koch
Retired elementary teacher

Lucile J. Koch, 86, of Westwood Court, Tiffin, died at 12:40 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001, in the Fairhaven Retirement Community, Upper Sandusky.

She was born June 13, 1914, in Fostoria, to Albert and Ruth (Harris) Jury. Her husband, Leonard Koch, also is deceased.

Survivors include: three sisters, Mrs. Jess (Gwen) Graham of Alamo, Texas, Mrs. Art (Betty) McCarty of Norwalk and Mrs. Paul (Joanne) Gongwer of Harpster; and several nieces and nephews.

A brother, Ted Jury, also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Koch, a retired elementary teacher, taught in the Wyandot, Bloomville, Clinton and Tiffin Schools, retiring in 1974, after 35 years of teaching.

A 1933 graduate of Mt. Zion High School, she received her degree from Bowling Green State University.

She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, its United Methodist Women; 50 year memberof Order of Eastern Star, Republic; the Seneca County Retired Teacher's Association, American Association of University Women and the Republic Grange.

She enjoyed playing golf and bridge.

The Rev. Gail Angel will conduct the 2 p.m. Friday service in the Lucas Funeral Home, Upper Sandusky. Burial will be in Grand Prairie cemetery, Brush Ridge, Ohio.

There will be no public calling hours.

Memorials may be made to the church or the donor's favorite charity, in care of the Lucas Funeral Home, P.O. Box 207, Upper Sandusky, OH 43351.

Paul Russell Kopca
Tower Automotive supervisor

Paul Russell Kopca, 49, of 133 John St., Bellevue, died at 7:05 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001, in St. Michael Hospital.

He was born Nov. 27, 1951, in Milwaukee, to the late Paul and Bernice (Wearing) Kopca. His wife, Carol (Wimer) Kopca, whom he married July 28, 1990, survives.

Survivors also include: a daughter, Mrs. Tom (MIchelle) Johnson of Milwaukee, Wisc.; two sons, Eric and Cory Kopca, both of Bellevue; a granddaughter; and a brother, Richard Mieritz, also of Milwaukee.

Mr. Kopca, a 1969 graduate of Wisconsin Lutheran High School, Milwaukee, had been employed as a supervisor at Tower Automotive for 30 years.

He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and the Bellevue Eagles.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Auxter Funeral Home, Bellevue, with the Rev. David Wistelmann officiating.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
