Paul L. Donaldson Sr.
General Dynamics retiree

Paul L. Donaldson Sr., 67, died at 1:15 a.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2001, at his home at 1725 Walnut St., Fostoria.

He was born Oct. 16, 1933, in Findlay, to Stanley P. Donaldson and Lula M. (Warner) Donaldson-Hindall. His mother survives in Findlay. On March 30, 1956, in Fostoria, he married Henrietta A. Berger, who survives in Fostoria..

Survivors also include: two sons, Paul L. Donaldson Jr. of Tiffin and Leonard W. Donaldson of Fostoria; two daughters, Mrs. Leo (Vickie) Dannenberger of Bradner and Mrs. Mario (Dawn) DeLaRosa of Fostoria; three half-brothers, Rupert Hindall of Mt. Cory, Lou Hindall of North Baltimore and Joe Hindall of Findlay; two sisters, Mrs. Patricia Nugester and Mrs. James (Donna) Bender, both of Findlay; 10 grandchildren and a step-grandchild.

Also deceased are his father and a granddaughter, Alisha A. DeLaRosa.

A U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict, Mr. Donaldson retired in 1994 as a tool and die engineer from General Dynamics in Lima, where he had been employed for 36 years.

He was a member of Hope Lutheran Church and Moose Lodge 1567, both of Fostoria.

The Rev. Dr. Larry W. Knigga will be the officiant at the 10:30 a.m. Saturday service in the Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria. Interment will be in Knollcrest Gardens, near Arcadia, where military graveside rites will be performed by the United Veterans of Fostoria.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, where Moose memorial services will be at 7 p.m.

Memorials may be made to Mooseheart or Community Hospice Care.

Robert L. Burkhart
Guardian Industries employee

Robert L. Burkhart, 55, of 8812 S. CR 43, Bloomville, died at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, 2001, at his residence.

He was born June 6, 1945, in Plankton, to the late Paul N. and Ersel L. (Price) Burkhart. On Sept. 6, 1991, he married Suzanne Maples, who survives.

Other survivors include: a step-son, Joe Slagle of Ashland; a brother, Norman C. Burkhart of rural Sycamore; and three sisters, Mrs. William (Lillian) Koehler of rural Upper Sandusky, Mrs. Rachel Havinga of Holland, Mich. and Mrs. Arthur (Joyce) Dummitt of McArthur.

Mr. Burkhart, a member of the Protestant Faith, was employed as a laborer at Guardian Industries in Upper Sandusky for 20 years.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and taking care of his yard and garden.

The Rev. Pat Fruth will conduct the 11 a.m. Saturday service in the Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore. Interment will be in Primitive Baptist cemetery, rural Melmore.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Community Hospice Care, Plankton United Methodist Church or a charity of the donor's choice.

Kenneth McKee
Mills Metal retiree

Kenneth McKee, 74, of West Church Street, Upper Sandusky, died at 5:52 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, 2001, in the Emergency Room of Wyandot Memorial Hospital, Upper Sandusky.

He was born April 18, 1926, in Upper Sandusky, to Ruth (Larick) McKee and raised by his grandparents, Louis and Bertha Larick. On June 22, 1968, in Upper Sandusky, he married Georgianna Gatchell, who survives.

Survivors also include: three sons, Michael Kenneth McKee of Marion, Steven Alton McKee of Upper Sandusky and Robert Mckee of Carey; two daughters, Mrs. Chuck (Julianne) Laudenslager of Upper Sandusky and Mrs. Dan (Ila Elizabeth) Lynch of Carey; 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Lou of Florida.

Two great-grandchildren are also deceased.

Mr. McKee, a 1944 graduate of Upper Sandusky High School, worked at Neumiester's Bakery in Upper Sandusky for 25 years and then worked for Mills Metal for 19 years, also of Upper Sandusky, retiring in 1991.

He attended Trinity Evangelical Church, Upper Sandusky and was a member of AmVets Post 777, Upper Sandusky and the Hickory Grove Country Club.

He also served as former president and union steward at the Mills Metal Co.

A U.S. Navy veteran, he enjoyed golfing, bowling, having bowled in the Buckeye League for 35 years, and playing cards, especially euchre and pinochle.

The service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Trinity Evangelical Church, Upper Sandusky, with the Rev. Derik Hines officiating. Interment will be in Salem Church cemetery, east of Upper Sandusky on SR 30.

Visitation will be 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Friday in the Lucas Funeral Home, Upper Sandusky and at the church one hour prior to the service on Saturday.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Dr. Frank A. Kostyu
Heidelberg College graduate

The Rev. Dr. Frank A. Kostyu, 81, a resident of Carol Woods Retirement Community, Chapel Hill, N.C., an award-winning photographer, writer, minister and craftsman, died Tuesday, March 6, 2001, at his home.

Surviving are his wife, Marjorie Ann (Butcher) Kostyu; a daughter, Mrs. Gary (Kathryn K.) Pasborg of Coral Springs, Fla.; two sons, Joel A. Kostyu of Durham, N.C. and Paul E. Kostyu of Delaware, Ohio; a sister, Mrs. Jim (Martha) Faulkner of Pollack Pines, Calif.; and seven grandchildren.

A 1943 graduate of Heidelberg College, Dr.Kostyu was the author of 10 books. The 1962 recipient of the prestigious Freedoms Foundation Award for his sermon "Dare to be a Daniel," He served churches in Milwaukee, Blue Island, Ill. and West Alexandria, Alliance and Dayton, all in Ohio; He moved to Durham, N.C. in 1981 after retiring as senior editor of "A.D." magazine, which was a New York City publication of the United Church of Christ and the Presbyterian Church (USA).

While living in North Carolina, Dr. Kostyu was an accomplished wood craftsman, whose work garnered prizes at craft fairs across the southeast. A world traveler, his photographs appeared in books, magazines and won prizes in two international competitions.

A native of Lorain, Ohio, he graduated from Heidelberg College in Tiffin with a bachelor of arts degree. He also was the recipient of an honorary doctor of divinity degree from Heidelberg, as well as a master of sacred theology degree from Oberlin College; a bachelor of divinity degree from Eden Theological Seminary in Webster Grove, Mo. and a doctor of ministry degree from Vanderbilt University.

He was a member of Pilgrim United Church of Christ in Durham.

Graveside services will take place in Rose Hill Burial Park, Akron.

Richard B. Rickard
Fostoria resident

Richard B. Rickard, 68, of 114 Findlay St., Fostoria, died at 1:00 a.m. Thursday, Mar. 8, 2001 at the Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center, Findlay. He was born Dec. 15, 1932 to Ben and Helen Alberta (Kiger) Rickard, both are deceased. On Jan. 31, 1965 he married Deloris Gollihue, and she survives.

Other survivors include: two sons, Steve Rickard of Downingtown, PA., and Richard Worth of Coatesville, PA.; two daughters, Sheila Kammeyer and Renee Worth, both of Fostoria a sister, Dorothy Cotterman of Cygnet; and 11 grandchildren.

Deceased are: a brother, Norman Rickard; and two sisters, Lorraine Van Scoder and Patricia Krassow.

Mr. Rickard was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in the Korean War. He worked in maintenance and cleaning at both the UAW and Days Inn, Fostoria.

The Rev. Donald Goodwin will officiate the 3 p.m. Saturday funeral service at the Mann-Hare Funeral Home in Fostoria.

Visitation hours are from two hours prior to the service in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center, 145 W. Wallace St., Findlay, Ohio 45840.

Clarence A. Knox
Retired Atlas employee

Clarence A. Knox, 85, of 412 Independence Ave., Fostoria, died Thursday morning, March 8, 2001, at his residence. He was born March 8, 1916 in Fostoria to Thomas H. and Augusta L. (Cox) Knox. On May 22, 1943 he married Lucille A. Kelbley. She died August 8, 1990.

Surviving are: a daughter, Mrs. Sherry McClellan of Fostoria; two grandsons; three great granddaughters; and a sister, Mrs. Augusta Wolf of Fostoria.

Deceased are: six brothers, Thomas, Dick, Harvey, Bob, Albert and Morris; four sisters, Mary Reeder, Anna Knox, Sarah Knox and Della Knox.

Mr. Knox was a Class of 1938 graduate of Fostoria High School. A U.S. Army Air Corp Veteran serving in WW II. He retired in 1980 from Atlas Crankshaft Company in Fostoria and also had been a carpenter. His memberships included: St. Wendelin Catholic Church; Eagles Aerie 430; Elks Lodge 935 and a third Degree Knight of Columbus, all of Fostoria and the Tiffin Moose Lodge 846.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, in St. Wendelin Catholic Church. Burial will be at St. Wendelin Parish cemetery.

Visitation hours are from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the Hoening Funeral Home. A Christian Wake Service will be held at 8:30 p.m. Sunday and a Rosary will be recited at 10 a.m. Monday at the church. Memorials may be made to St. Wendelin Church and/or to the charity of the donor's choice.

William Robert Miller
Fostoria resident

William Robert Miller, 66, of 904 Country Club Drive, Fostoria, died Thursday morning, March 8, 2001 at his residence. Funeral arrangements are pending at the Mann-Hare Funeral Home in Fostoria.

Ernest R. Schilling
Lifelong Eden Twp. resident

Ernest R. Schilling, 96, of CR 128, Upper Sandusky, died at 4 a.m. Thursday, March 8, 2001 at the Fairhaven Health Care Community in Upper Sandusky. He was born Aug. 21, 1904 to J.W. and Minerva (Kuenzli) Schilling. He married his first wife, Hazel Fern Snyder in June of 1933. She died in Nov. of 1953. He married his second wife, Ilva B. Brown on Aug. 21, 1960. She died Sept. 23, 1989.

Surviving include: three sons, Robert Schilling of Vancouver, WA., and Donald and David Schilling, both of Upper Sandusky; four daughters, Mrs. Ruth Wonder of Loveland, OH., Mrs. Margaret Eier of Waynesboro, PA., Mrs. JoAnn Klink of Eau Claire, WI., and Mrs. Emily Wolfe of Upper Sandusky; a brother, Edward Schilling of Newark; two sisters, Mary Burns of Baltimore, MD. and Martha Sobers of Washington Court House, OH.; 16 grandchildren; and 23 great grandchildren.

Deceased are: a grandson; five brothers, two sisters; and infant twin siblings.

Mr. Schilling was a Class of 1923 graduate of Eden High School, where he was vice-president and treasurer. He retired as an Eden Twp. farmer, he also worked as a guard at the former Westinghouse for Pickerington Securities; a bus driver for Eden Twp. School and Upper Sandusky High School; and was a custodian at Upper Sandusky High School. His memberships included: Salem United Methodist Church, east of Upper Sandusky, where he was a lifelong member and former Sunday school teacher, church treasurer, councilman and trustee; Wyandot County Farm Bureau Council; Eden Grange and Modern Woodsmen. He enjoyed fishing with his fishing buddy Bob Stuckey and flying in all sizes of airplanes, growing apples, roses and vegetables, traveling and eating out.

The Rev. Sonja Bender and the Rev. Cathy Wirth will co-officiate the 2 p.m. Sunday funeral service at the Salem United Methodist Church. Burial will be at Salem United Methodist Church cemetery in Upper Sandusky.

Visitation hours are from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the Bringman Clark & Co. Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Salem United Methodist Church and/or Life Enrichment Fund Fairhaven Health Care Community.

Shirley J. Clark
Former Fostoria resident

Shirley J. (Tatum) Clark, 51, of 815 Shannon St., Toledo, died at 3:37 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, 2001 at St. Vincent/Mercy Medical Center, Toledo. She was born Aug. 9, 1949 to Archie L. Tatum, he passed away, and Rosie L. (West) Tatum who survives in Fostoria.

Surviving include: three sons, Rodney A. Ferguson of Fostoria, John D. Ferguson of Lakewood, and Anthony Ferguson of Fostoria; three daughters, Mrs. Toya Gravely of Columbus, Ms. Monica Ferguson of Reston, VA. and Mrs. Tracey Farber of Findlay; step-father, James W. Lynch of Fostoria; step mother, Ms. Karen Tatum of Fostoria; two step-brothers, Ali Tatum and James Lynch, Jr., both of Fostoria; two step-sisters, Mrs. Jena Haralson and Ms. Jodi Jones, both of Fostoria; and 12 grandchildren.

Deceased is a son, Archie D. Ferguson.

Mrs. Clark was a 1967 graduate of Fostoria High School. She continued her studies at Bowling Green University, Tiffin College and Findlay University majoring in Business Administration. She attended Terra Technical College for studies in nursing and was employed by Good Shepherd Home as a certified nursing assistant, and also at General Electric, Marathon Oil Company and Whirlpool Corporation. A former member of Bethel Baptist Church.

The Rev. T.A. Smith will officiate the 1 p.m. Monday funeral service at the Mann-Hare Funeral Home in Fostoria. Burial will be at Fountain cemetery in Fostoria.

Visitation hours are from 4-7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Building Fund of Fostoria.

Tyler Jarrett Newsome
One of triplet sons

Tyler Jarrett Newsome, newborn, of East Twp. Rd. 178, Bellevue, died on Monday, Mar. 5, 2001 in St. Vincent's Medical Center, Toledo. His parents Troy M. and Traci (Drown) Newsome survive in Bellevue.

Other survivors include: twin brothers, Kade Michael and Brock Emmett Newsome at home; grandparents; Dennis and Diane Drown of Walbridge and Harry and Suzanne Newsome of Clyde; maternal great grandparents Marie Cleveland of Clyde and Margaret Drown of Fremont; and paternal great grandparents Ed and Fran Mosser of Clyde.

A private family funeral service will be Saturday at the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home in Clyde. Burial will be at McPherson cemetery.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, Forest St., Clyde.

Philip T. Young
Retired farmer

Philip T. Young, 87, formerly of 7248 N. SR 19, Green Springs, died at 6:15 p.m. Friday, March 9, 2001, in St. Francis Health Care Centre, Sandusky County, Green Springs, where he had been a resident since October 2000.

He was born July 13, 1913, in Adams Township, Seneca County, to Ervin Dewalt and Caroline Elizabeth (Tannreuther) Young. He had never married .

Surviving are two nephews, Philip F. and Karl E. Havens, both of Fremont; and many great nieces and nephews.

A nephew, John D. Havens, and a sister, Gertrude Havens-Hessick, also are deceased..

Mr. Young, a retired farmer, was born and lived his entire lifetime at 7248 N. SR 19, Green Springs.

A 1931 graduate of Green Springs High School, he attended Ohio State University and was a 50-year member of Green Springs Masonic Lodge 427.

The Rev. James A. Scott will be the officiant at the 11 a.m. Tuesday service in the Engle-Young Funeral Home of Green Springs. Burial will be in Green Springs cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour before the time of service Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Seneca County Cancer Society.

Glenna E. Musselman
Retired school teacher

Glenna E. Musselman, 90, of 38 S. Marion St., Bloomville, died Sunday evening, March 11, 2001, in the Ruffing Family Care Center, Bloomville.

She was born June 20, 1910, in Bloomville, to J. Schuyler and Dollie (Kimmel) Hossler. On May 25, 1940, in Republic, she married Raymond C. Musselman. He died July 12, 1978.

Surviving are a brother-in-law, R.W. "Pete" Leister of Bloomville; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are three sisters, Pauline Leister in 1997 and Grace Bower and Lucille George.

Mrs. Musselman, a graduate of Bloomville High School and Bowling Green State University, taught elementary school for 36 years at Bloomville Elementary, Republic School, Thompson School and the Tiffin City Schools.

She was a member of Bloomville United Methodist Church, its United Methodist Women; the State Retired Teachers Association, Ohio Education Association, the National Education Association and a 50-year member of Luella Chapter Order Easter Star of Bloomville.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Lindsey-Olds Funeral Home, 3085 S. SR 19, Bloomville, with the Rev. Gary Hicks officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn cemetery, Bloomville.

Visitation is 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home, where Eastern Star services will be at 6:30 p.m.

Memorials may be made to Bliss Memorial Library, Bloomville or the Bloomville Elementary School.
