Clarence J. Droll, 69, of 502 College Ave., Fostoria, died at 12:30 p.m. Friday, March 16, 2001, at his residence.

Mr. Droll was born May 24, 1931, in Fostoria to John Joseph and Mary M. (Parish) Droll.

Survivors include: four sisters, Mary C. Shroeder, Florence L. Droll and Mrs. Don (Margaret) Schetter all of Fostoria, and Mrs. Ronald (Emma) Sprankle of Findlay.

His parents, five brothers and two sisters are deceased.

He graduated from St. Wendelin High School in 1949; was a U.S. Army veteran; attended the Toledo Museum of Art; was a former artist; a designer for "Schaffner Designs," Fostoria; and a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church.

Rosary will be prayed at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Wendelin Church followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 with burial in St. Wendelin Parish cemetery.

Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday in the Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria, where a Christian wake service will be conducted at 8:30 p.m.

Memorials may be made to Community Hospice Care of Seneca County, St. Wendelin Schools Educational Foundation, or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Daniel Edmund Yarnell, Sr.
Atlas inspector retiree

Daniel Edmund Yarnell, Sr., 64, of Fostoria and Clermont Fla., died Thursday, March 15, 2001, in Southlake Hospital, Clermont, Fla.

He was born April 25, 1936, in Napoleon to Lester D. and Renelda T. (DePage) Yarnell. On Nov. 8, 1948, he married Harriet A. Phillips at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Cygnet. She survives in Fostoria and Clermont, Fla.

Also surviving are: his mother of Clermont, Fla.; three sons, Daniel, Jr. of Snow Camp, N.C., James M. of Fostoria and Lester J. of Bairdstown; two daughters, Mrs. Jose (Mary Kay) Mauricio of Bairdstown and Mrs. Harold (Peggy S.) Hebert of Bloomdale; eight grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; a brother, Thomas of Martin, Tenn.; and two sisters, Mary Ann DeWit of Liberty Center and Mrs. Andrew (Suzanne) Gillies of Louisville, Ky.

His father preceded him in death.

Mr. Yarnell was a 1954 graduate of Deshler High School; a U.S. Army veteran; retired in 1991 after 30 years as an inspector at Atlas, Inc., Fostoria; and a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church and Fostoria United Sportsman.

Rosary will be prayed at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Wendelin Church, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in St. Wendelin Parish cemetery with military graveside honors conducted by the United Veterans of Fostoria.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday in the Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria, where Rosary will be prayed at 8:30 p.m.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Mary Rose McGrady
Tiffin Calvert graduate

Mary Rose McGrady, 73, formerly of Curtice, died Thursday, March 15, 2001, in Riverside Hospital, Toledo.

She was born to Patrick and Carmella (Palumbo) Spino and married John A. McGrady. He died in 1981.

Survivors include: three sons, Timothy, Patrick and Michael; a daughter, Kathleen; eight grandchildren; two brothers, Tony and Joe; and two sisters, Phil "Flore" Herrig and Lucille Tieman.

Also preceding her in death were: four brothers, Sam, Leo, John and Carmen Spino; and two sisters, Mary Salpietro and Philomena Spino.

Mrs. McGrady graduated in 1947 from Calvert High School; a graduate of Mary Manse College nad Mercy Hospital School of Medical Technology; active in the Mary Manse Alumni Association; retired as a medical technologist for St. Charles Hospital for 26 years and retiring March 5, 1993; served as a Red Cross volunteer since 1968; and a member of the St. Charles Auxiliary. Being an active member of the St. Ignatius Church, she was a member and past president of the Altar Rosary Society, a past officer for the Toledo Diocesan Catholic Women's Association, a member of the Ursuline Association and a Eucharistic Minister for the church and St. Charles Hospital.

Funeral services will begin at the Hoeflinger Funeral Home, 3500 Navarre Ave., Toledo, at 9:15 a.m. Monday continuing with a Mass of Resurrection at St. Ignatius Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Ignatius cemetery.

Visitation is 4-9 p.m. today and 2-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home where a scripture service will be conducted at 7 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the St. Ignatius Catholic Church.

Evelyn Fayne Watt
Clyde homemaker

Evelyn Fayne Watt, 81, died Saturday, March 17, 2001, at her residence on Nelson Street, Clyde.

She was born Dec. 21, 1919, in Townsend Township, Sandusky County, to Ivan and Lucy (Humburg) Colvin. On March 19, 1936, she married Nelson Watt, who survives.

Other survivors include: four daughters, Mrs. James (Donna June) Wernz of Philomath, Ore., Mrs. Richard (Kathryn Anne) Gasdorf of Fort Wayne, Ind., Mrs. Arne (Martha Lyn) Johansson of Huntington Beach, Calif., and Mrs. John (Betty Caroline) Trapp of Perkasie, Pa.; 15 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a brother, Clair Ivan Colvin of Statesborough, Ga.

A sister, June Ritter, also is deceased.

Mrs. Watt, a homemaker, received her education in the Townsend Township Schools. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Clyde.

The Rev. Gerhardt Gosnell will be the officiant at the 11 a.m. Wednesday service in the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, Clyde. Interment will be in McPherson cemetery, Clyde.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church Endowment Fund, Forest Street, Clyde, OH 43410.

Claire B. Bemis
Self-employed accountant

Claire B. Bemis, 90, of East Sand Road, Port Clinton, died Friday, March 16, 2001, in Providence Care Center, Sandusky.

He was born Oct. 26, 1910, in York Township, Sandusky County, to Burton and Hattie (Krugh) Bemis. His wife, Mae (Moyer) Bemis, whom he married July 19, 1939, died July 26, 2000.

Survivors include: a daughter, Mrs. John (Karen) Vardyan of Port Clinton; three grandchildren, Mrs. Renee Cronin, Ian and Kurt Vardyan; and two great-grandchildren.

Also preceding him in death were a brother, Glenn Bemis, and a sister, Ruth Sheets.

Mr. Bemis, a 1928 graduate of Clyde High School, had been employed as an accountant for Bechler and Sons of Clyde, then later self-employed.

A member of the First Presbyterian Church, Mr. Bemis also had served as a grip in movie studios in Hollywood, Calif.

The service will be at 11 a.m. Monday in the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, Clyde, with the Rev. Douglas Nagel officiating. Interment will be in McPherson cemetery, Clyde.

Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. until time of the service Monday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Habitat for Humanity.

Nupur Dinesh Thekdi
John Hopkins student

Nupur Dinesh Thekdi, 269 Lelar St., died Thursday, March 15, 2001, at his home of natural causes.

Surviving are his parents Dr. Dinesh Chhotalal and Bharati Thekdi; a brother, Ashish Thekdi; and a sister, Sonal Thekdi.

He attended Maumee Valley Country Day School in Maumee, graduating in 1992. He graduated summa cum laude from Harvard University in 1996, with a major in biochemistry. He was in his fifth year of a combined MD/PhD program at John Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, Md.

He was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society.

The service took place at noon Saturday in Tiffin.

Contributions in Nupur Thekdi's name may be made to the Association for India's Development or a charity of the donor's choice.

The Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Charles Kessler
Retired electrician

Charles Kessler, 66, 884 Columbus Ave., Fostoria, died at about 4 p.m. Saturday afternoon, March 17, 2001, in the Medical College of Ohio Hospital, Toledo. Arrangements are pending at the Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria.

Burta Link
Former Attica resident

Burta Link, 96, formerly of 109 S. Main St., Attica, died at 8:05 p.m. Friday, March 16, 2001, in the Oak Grove Manor Nursing Home, Mansfield, following a long illness.

She was born May 26, 1904, in Floyd County, Ky., to Malcom and Parthenia (Amburgy) Gearheart. Her husband, Joseph C. Link, also preceded her in death.

Survivors include: three brothers, John Gayheart and Ellis and Bud Gayheart; six sisters, Dellie Martin, Maudie Martin, Rosie Gayheart, Mollie Gearheart, Madge Osborn and her twin Murta Cook; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Link, a member of Mansfield Faith Assembly Church, retired from the former Shelby Spring Hinge Co.

The service will be at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Lindsey-Foos-Kocher Funeral Service, 1295 W. Tiffin St., Attica, with her nephews, the Rev. Edward Gayheart and the Rev. Charles Saunders of the Mansfield Faith Assembly Church, officiating. Burial will be in Attica-Venice Township cemetery, Attica.

Visitation will be 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Mansfield Faith Assembly Church, 2727 Lexington Ave., Mansfield, OH 44904.

Robert E. Wagner
Midwest Industries retiree

Robert E. Wagner, 66, of 2774 S. SR 4, Attica, died early Saturday morning, March 17, 2001, in Mercy Hospital of Tiffin.

He was born June 6, 1934, in Indiana, to the late Frank and Mabel (Waggoner) Wagner.

Surviving are four daughters, Sandra Wagner of Attica, Mrs. John (Patricia) Shafer of Willard, Mrs. Todd (Barbara) Craig of Tiffin and Mrs. Jeff (Kathy) Wolf, also of Attica; four grandchildren; a brother, John Wagner of Pennsylvania; two sisters, Laura Smith of Arizona and Linda Chapman of Indiana; and a special friend, Mary Smith of Willard.

Mr. Wagner retired from Midwest Industries in Willard.

The Rev. David Mills of First Christian Church of Tiffin will conduct the 10 a.m. Tuesday service in the Lindsey-Foos-Kocher Funeral Service, Attica. Burial will be in Maple Grove cemetery, New Haven.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Joseph W. Weisenberger
AT&T retiree

Joseph W. Weisenberger, 70, 160 Cherry St., died at 1:35 a.m. Friday, March 16, 2001, in Mercy Hospital of Tiffin.

He was born Sept. 7, 1930, in Tiffin, to Edward Joseph and Evelyn M. (Huth) Weisenberger. His mother survives in Tiffin. On April 25, 1953, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin, he married Margaret Lorentz, who also survives.

Other survivors include: three sons, Edward J. Weisenberger of Upper Arlington, Joseph P. Weisenberger of Westlake and Michael A. Weisenberger of Tiffin; a daughter, Wendy C. Klopp of Mesa, Ariz.; a brother, John E. Weisenberger of Hinsdale, Ill.; two sisters, Mrs. Dale (Ruth) Gerber and Mrs. Norbert (Jean) Gosche, both of Tiffin; and nine grandchildren.

His father is deceased.

Mr. Weisenberger, a 1948 graduate of Calvert High School, retired after 34 years as a communication systems technician for AT&T.

A U.S. Navy veteran, he was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, American Legion Post 169, AmVets Post 48, where he was a life member; Eagles 401, VFW Post 2858, where he also was a life member; Moose Lodge 846, the Pioneer Club and Elks Lodge 94.

There will be no service or visitation.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Community Hospice Care of Tiffin.

The Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Sister Mary Estelle Warnement
73-year Ursuline Sister

Sister Mary Estelle Warnement, OSU, 91, a Toledo Ursuline Sister for 73 years, died Saturday, March 17, 2001, in the Ursuline Center, Indian Road, Toledo.

Surviving are three brothers, Paul and Elmer, both of Tiffin, and Herman of Canton; a sister, Alice of Tiffin; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were two brothers, Ralph and Urban, and two sisters, Frances Eichhorn and Genevieve.

The former Mary Bertha Warnement, entered the Ursuline Convent from St. Joseph Parish, Tiffin, Nov. 6, 1927, and professed her final vows Aug. 21, 1933.

A graduate of Calvert High School, she received a bachelor of arts degree and a bachelor of science in education degree from the former Mary Manse College. She did graduate studies in education at the Catholic University of America, Washington, D.C. She also completed courses for the Sight Saving Certificate in the Visually Handicapped Institute at Catholic University.

Sister M. Estelle taught in the elementary schools of the Diocese of Toledo beginning in the former Cathedral Chapel in 1928. Other Toledo schools included Rosary Cathedral, St. Agnes, St. Thomas Aquinas and St. Patrick of Heatherdowns.

She also taught at St. Mary and St. Joseph in Tiffin for 13 years, Grand Rapids Nazareth Hall and Perrysburg St. Rose.

She served as treasurer of Nazareth Hall for nine years. From 1982-89 she was a part-time staff member at St. Angela Hall, Toledo. Upon retirement, she resided at the Ursuline Center on Indian Road.

Reception of the body and visitation will begin at the Ursuline Center, 4035 Indian Road, after 2 p.m. Monday. The vigil service will be in the Ursuline Center chapel at 7 p.m. Monday and the funeral liturgy will be at the Ursuline Center at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Burial will be in St. Joseph Parish cemetery, Tiffin, at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 S. Reynolds Road, Toledo, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Ursuline Convent of the Sacred Heart Retirement Fund.
