Lillian K. Perong
Tiffin native/homemaker
Word has been received of the death of Lillian Katherine (McElfish) Perong, 84, of San Bernardino, Calif, who died at 11 p.m. Saturday, March 10, 2001, in St. Bernardine Medical Center, of heart failure.
Survivors include her husband, Vincent; a son, William of San Bernardino; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A son, Thomas, is deceased.
A native of Tiffin, Mrs. Perong lived in San Bernardino for 61 years.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Grandmothers' Club, the San Hi Bowling LEague and Our Lady of the Rosary Cathedral in San Bernardino.
Graveside services took place Thursday in Mountain View Mortuary and cemetery, 570 E. Highland Ave., San Bernardino.
Wilbur F. Jordan
Insurance agency owner
Wilbur F. Jordan, 83, of 519 E. Church St., Upper Sandusky, formerly of Carey, died at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, March 18, 2001, in Fairhaven Health Care Community, Upper Sandusky.
He was born May 9, 1917, in Kenton, to Joseph Wilbur and Cleo (Rufty) Jordan. He first married
Marcella I. Winebrenner, who died. He later married
Rosemary Ellis Stephan, who survives.
Other survivors include: a daughter, Mrs. Ronal (Sue Ann) Mangine of Fairview, Pa.; a son, Douglas J. Jordan of Carey; and three grandchildren, Christopher Mangine of Erie, Pa., Marcus Mangine of Ashville, N.C. and Nichole Mangine of Seattle, Wash.
A brother, Joseph R. Jordan, also is deceased.
Mr. Jordan had worked at the Ohio Power office for 21 years, then worked at Newell Johnson Insurance Agency, both of Upper Sandusky, for 10 years. For 16 years he owned and operated the Jordan Insurance Agency in Carey.
A World War II U.S. Army veteran, having served in the South Pacific, he was a life member of American Legion Post 344, Carey. He also was a member of John Stewart United Methodist Church, Upper Sandusky; VFW 3759, Carey and also a life member of B.P.O.E. 83, Upper Sandusky.
He enjoyed golfing, playing cards, gardening, cooking and square dancing.
The Rev. Wayne Geissinger will be the officiant at the 2 p.m. service today in the Bringman Clark and Company Funeral Home, Upper Sandusky. Burial will be in Grove cemetery, Kenton.
Visitation will be noon today until time of the service at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Wyandot County Hospice or the John Stewart United Methodist Church Building Fund.
Linus D. Holmer
G.E. Lamp Plant retiree
Linus D. Holmer, 84, of 3393 Kirby Rd., Memphis, Tenn, formerly of 8447 SR 269 South, Attica, died Sunday, March 18, 2001, in St. Francis Hospital, Memphis, following a brief illness.
He was born Dec. 20, 1916, in Attica, to John and Rosalie Holmer. His first wife, Ruth (Brandt) Holmer, died in 1965. He later married
Ruth Alleshouse, and she died in 1997.
Surviving are a son, Jerry Holmer of Battle Creek, Mich.; three daughters, Judy Kimberling of Memphis, Janice Conners of Laurel, Md. and Joanne Bogner of Reynoldsburg; eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, six step-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren; a brother, Arthur Holmer of Norwalk; and two sisters, Dixie Herner of Bellevue and Mary Falter of Bloomville.
Also preceding him in death were a daughter, Mary; two brothers, Urben and Bernard; and a sister, Martha.
Mr. Holmer retired from the General Electric Bellevue Lamp Plant in 1980, after 36 years of service.
A member of the Eagles, where he served as president 1971-72, the Knights of Columbus and the VFW, he had served at a German POW camp during World War II in Camp Swift, Texas.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with the Rev. Robert Tucceri officiating. Interment will be in St. Peter and Paul cemetery, Attica.
Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Wednesday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday in the Foos & Son Funeral Home, Bellevue, where the rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m. Thursday.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Hospital.
Lloyd Robert 'Bob' Runion
Sheet metal worker
Lloyd Robert "Bob" Runion, 74, 149 E. Davis St., died at 11:57 p.m. Sunday, March 18, 2001, in St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo.
He was born April 5, 1926, in Tiffin, to the late Henry O. and Catherine (Mitchel) Runion. He married
Beverly Ann (Oberst) Runion Jan. 30, 1947, in Tiffin. She died Feb. 10, 1999.
Survivors include: a son, Robert A. Runion of Tiffin; a daughter, Mrs. Larry (Patricia Lynn) Craig of Tiffin; two brothers, Richard Runion of Tiffin and Gene Runion of Charlottesville, Va.; his special friend, Gladys Frank, also of Tiffin; five grandsons, three great-granddaughters and three great-grandsons.
Mr. Runion, a World War II U.S. Army veteran, worked at Seneca Sheet Metal as a tin smith; at Sterling Abrasive for 23 years, Cramers Brothers for 18 years and M.J. Brown for eight years.
He was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Moose Lodge 846, VFW Post 2858 and AmVets 48.
He also enjoyed motorcycling and boating.
Graveside services will take place at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Fairmont cemetery, with the Margaret Marks officiating.
There will be no visitation. The Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Janet F. Schwochow
Rural Tiffin homemaker
Janet F. Schwochow, 63, 407 W. TR 118, died at 11:25 p.m. Sunday, March 18, 2001, in the Medical College of Ohio Hospital, Toledo, where she had been a patient for three weeks.
She was born Aug. 12, 1937, in Tiffin, to the late Franklin B. and Marie P. (Nye) Runion. On Dec. 29, 1956, in Trinity United Church of Christ, she married
Dale W. Schwochow Sr., who survives in rural Tiffin.
Other survivors include: two sons, Dale W. Schwochow Jr. of Bloomville and Daryl D. Schwochow of Tiffin; two daughters, Mrs. Rick (Jane M.) Frederick of Tiffin and Jody A. Rice of Huron; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Jeanne Pafenbach of Detroit, Mich. and Shirley Wollam of Fremont.
An infant son, David Schwochow, also is deceased.
Mrs. Schwochow, a homemaker, was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, its Marcella Circle and Trinity Twosome.
A 1956 graduate of Columbian High School, she also was a member of Tiffin T-Squares Dance Club and served as a past 4-H advisor.
The Rev. William H. Smith will conduct the 11 a.m. Wednesday service in the Trinity United Church of Christ. Burial will be in Greenlawn cemetery.
Visitation is 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. today in the Turner-Engle Funeral Home and at the church one hour before time of the service Wednesday.
Memorials may be made to the church or the Seneca County Dialysis Center.
Rolland J. Keegan
Former construction worker
Rolland J. Keegan, 83, died Sunday, March 18, 2001, at his residence on Sandusky CR 213, Fremont.
He was born July 16, 1917, in Vickery, to Fred and Bessie (Opper) Keegan. On July 29, 1943, he married
Alice Gilbert, who died June 30, 1998.
Surviving are two sons, Larry and Mark Keegan, both of Fremont; five grandchildren and a great-grandchild; and five brothers and sisters, Seline Helen Nye of Fremont, Mervin Keegan of Green Springs, Alva Keegan of Clyde, Ivan Keegan, also of Fremont and Lytle Keegan of Green Springs.
Also deceased are a son, Michael Keegan; a brother, Harvey Keegan; and four sisters, Doris Franks, Voleda Otto, Opal Hoke and Bertha Cook.
Mr. Keegan, a World War II U.S. Army veteran, worked at Herbrand Company for 15 years and then Ace Hayward Construction for 20 years.
A member of Calvary Baptist Church, he received his education in the Townsend Schools.
There will be no services or visitation. The Mitchell Auxter Funeral Home, Clyde, is in charge of arrangements.
Dorothy M. Bloom
Fremont resident
Dorothy M. Bloom, 91, of Fremont, died Sunday afternoon, March 18, 2001, in the Good Shepherd Home, Fostoria.
She was born Nov. 23, 1909, in Elmore, to Henry and Lydia (Wendt) Croll. Her husband, Oliver Bloom, whom she married
June 25, 1930, in Elmore, died in August 1995.
Survivors include: a daughter, Ardith Rinebold of Fostoria; a son, Lowell H. Bloom of Goodyear, Ariz.; a sister, Helen Stiger of Chambersburg, Pa.; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Deceased is a brother, Richard Croll.
Mrs. Bloom, a 1927 graduate of Elmore High School, was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Fremont and its Crusaders Class.
She enjoyed sewing and baking pies and camping with her husband.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in the Harris-Elmore Union cemetery, Elmore.
The Nopper-Karlovetz Mortuary, Fremont, is in charge of arrangements.

Mildred (Smith) Dick
Rural Bellevue homemaker
Mildred Dick, 92, of 4729 N. TR 82, Bellevue, died Tuesday, March 20, 2001, in St. Francis Home, Tiffin.
She was born Dec. 13, 1908, in Reed Township, to Frank and Molly (Herrig) Smith. On June 10, 1936, in Reed Assumption Catholic Church, she married
Leonard A. Dick. He died in 1993.
Surviving are a son, Eugene Dick of Bellevue; four step grandchildren and 10 step great-grandchildren.
Deceased are four brothers, Edward, Thomas, William and Victor Smith; and a sister, Anne (Smith) Dick.
Mrs. Dick, a homemaker, was a member of St. Michael's Alter-Rosary Society and the Senior Guild at St. Francis.
The Rev. John M. Nagele will be the officiant at the 11 a.m. Saturday service in St. Michael's Catholic Church, Bellevue. Burial will be in Bellevue Catholic cemetery.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Foos and Son Funeral Home, Bellevue, where the rosary will be recited at 8:30 p.m.
Memorials may be made to St. Michael's Church Steeple Fund.
Doris J. 'D.J.' Haubert
Mother of Tiffin resident
Doris J. "D.J." (Slane) Haubert, 67, died Tuesday, March 20, 2001, at her home on Morrison Street, Fremont.
She was born March 3, 1934, in Fremont, to the late Roy Slane and Viola Ruggles. On April 23, 1965, in Fremont, she married
Weldon Haubert, who survives in Fremont.
Other survivors include: two sons, Rex E. Haubert of Fremont and Benjamin Peticos III of Tiffin; a daughter, Linda Sabo of Fremont; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
A brother, Ronald Slane, is deceased.
Mrs. Haubert, a member of El Bethel United Church, was employed as a cook at the Saratoga and Buckeye Restaurants.
She also took care of foster children for four years and enjoyed cooking.
The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in the Wonderly-Horvath Funeral Home, Fremont. Interment will be in Oakwood cemetery at a later date.
Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the funer home.
Memorials may be made to Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
Mary Mackling
Retired nursing supervisor
Mary L. (Grimes-Kinney) Mackling, 91, a resident of the Ruffing Family Care Center, Tiffin, formerly of Sycamore, died at 1:45 a.m. Tuesday, March 20, 2001, in Mercy Hospital of Tiffin.
She was born Sept. 10, 1909, in Seneca County, to David and Louisa (McConnell) Grimes. She first married
Joe D. Kinney in 1928, They were later divorced. On Aug. 24, 1935, she married
George W. Mackling. He died Aug. 5, 1994.
Survivors include; a daughter, Mrs. Arthur (Jeanne) Beard of Bonneta Springs, Fla.; two sons, George D. Mackling of Tampa, Fla. and Larry A. Mackling Sr. of Sycamore; two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Two brothers, Eugene and Ralph Grimes; and a sister, Clemma Donaldson, are deceased.
Mrs. Mackling, a 1927 graduate of Columbian High School, retied in 1975 as a nursing supervisor from the former Tiffin State Hospital.
She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and Eagles Ladies Auxiliary 402.
She also liked to sew and crochet.
The Rev. Arthur Geyh and the Rev. Frank Murd will be the co-officiants at the 10 a.m. Friday service in the Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
