Bernice M. Ross
Former Bloomville resident

Bernice M. Ross, 88, of the Carlisle House and formerly of Chatfield, died Friday, March 23, 2001, at the Carlisle House.

She was born Feb. 9, 1913, in Bloomville to Stephen and Martha Suzanne (Weisenauer) Saul. On June 5, 1938, she married Marvin F. Ross. He died July 17, 1998.

Survivors include: a daughter, Mary Sue Ross of Columbus, sons, the Rev. Robert Ross of Castle Rock, WA., John Ross of Hamilton, OH., Stephen Ross of Bucyrus, seven grandchildren and one great grandson.

Deceased are; four brothers, Jay, J. Allen, Arthur and Charles Saul; five sisters, Mabel Dove, Mary Sherwood, Florence Gearhart, Cora and Esther Saul.

Mrs. Ross was a public school teacher for over 35 years and had taught at Bloomville, Lykens, Chatfield and Buckeye West. She was a member of the Nazareth Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday school for over 40 years, where she was active in with the Women of the Church, the senior choir and the Vesper Circle.

Services will take place at 11 a.m., Thursday, at the Nazareth Lutheran Church, Bucyrus, with the Rev. Ron Clausen officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Wednesday, at the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home, Bucyrus.

Memorials can be made to the Nazareth Lutheran Church or the Honey Creek Primitive Baptist Church, in care of the funeral home.

Mildred Rose De Nardo
Former Tiffin Resident

Mildred Rose De Nardo, 82, of 6440 W. 34th St., Indianapolis, IN, died at 5:45 a.m. at the Northwest Manor Health Care, Indianapolis.

She was born on Dec. 4, 1918, in Tiffin to John V. and Irene Albert. Her husband, Vernon A. De Nardo preceded her in death.

Survivors are: a daughter, Vicki Watts of Indianapolis, two brothers, Henry Albert of Tiffin and Don Albert of Del Rio, TX., a sister, Dorothy Smith of Tiffin, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Also deceased are a son, Gary DeNardo.

A memorial service will take place at 11 a.m., Tuesday, at the Speedway Christian Church, 5110 West 14th St., Speedway, IN., and will be officiated by the Rev. Andy Crowley.

There will be no visitations.

Memorials can be made to the Speedway Christian Church.

The Owen-Weilert-Duncan Funeral Home, 2722 S. Washington St., Marion, IN. is in charge of the arrangements.

George A. Chapin
Retired CPA

George A. Chapin, 83, of 855 Rambo Lane, Fremont, died Sunday, March 25, 1002, in Memorial Hospital, Fremont.

He was born March 29, 1917, in Roundhead, Ohio, to George P. and Anna Elnora (McClish) Chapin. He first married Helen Lutz June 24, 1950. She died Oct. 31, 1989. He later married C. June Harding Struble on July 11, 1992. She survivees in Fremont.

Other survivors include: a son, G. Keith Chapin of Bloomington, Mich.; two daughters, Carole Cobb of Cincinnati and Anita Schaible of Findlay; eight grandchildren; two step daughters, Susan Hoy of Gibsonburg and Sandra Smith of Woodville; two step grandchildren and a step great-grandchild; two brothers, Paul Chapin of Findlay and Ralph Chapin of Oceanside, Calif.; and a sister, Grace Shiere of Durham, N.H.

A sister is deceased.

Mr. Chapin, a graduate of Findlay College, earned his master's degree at Ohio State University. He taught school at the Thompson School, near Republic.

He also worked as a C.P.A. for Ernst adn Ernst in Columbus, started wtih Clauss Cutlery in Fremont as financial vice president in 1959 and retired in 1986.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, where he served as former deacon and elder; the C.P.A. Accounting Board of State of Ohio, Northwest Ohio C.P.A. Organization and the American Institute of Accountants.

The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the First Presbyterian Church, Fremont. Interment will be in Benton Ridge cemetery.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 6:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to the service Thursday at the church.

Memorials may be made to The Cure for Lymphoma Foundation or the church.

Jose C. 'Joe' Bernal Sr.
Former Fostoria resident

Jose C. "Joe" Bernal Sr., 50, of Pasadena, TX., died at 11:35 p.m., Saturday, March 17, 2001, in Ben Taub General Hospital, Houston, TX.

He was born Nov. 28, 1950 in Fostoria, to Ismael B. and Maria C. (Carmona) Bernal. They survive in San Antonio, TX. Mr. Bernal married Emma Martinez, they later were divorced. In 1992, he married Anecia Miller. She died in 1999.

Survivors also include: two sons; Jose Miller of Louisiana and Jose C. Bernal, Jr. of Cleburne, TX, 3 daughters; Lisa A. Bernal, of Fostoria, Angel Verdin, of Louisiana, and Joann Bernal, of Rosenberg, TX., six brothers; Marvin, Gilbert "Bob", Raul "Rudy", and John P. Bernal all of Fostoria, Miguel "Mike" Bernal of San Antonio, TX., and Mario Bernal, of Needville, TX., five sisters; Mrs. Lloyd (Aurora) Robinson, Mrs. Agapito (Alicia) Gonzales and Estelle Bernal all of Fostoria, Sylvia Hoening of Liberty Center and Rosalinda Bernal of San Antonio, TX.

Mr. Bernal had been employed for 18 years at National Transmission, Houston, TX., and had worked locally at the former Bill O'Donnell Chevrolet in Fostoria. He attended Fostoria High School, was a former member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria and was a member of St. Pius Catholic Church, Pasadena, TX.,

A funeral mass was held, Wed. March 21, in St. Pius Catholic Church with burial in South Park cemetery, Pearland, TX.

A memorial mass will be held 1:00 p.m., Saturday, in St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria.

Memorials can be made to the St. Wendelin Catholic Church or the Bureau of Concern, Fostoria, in care of Hoening Funeral Home.

Kent C. Decker
Bellevue resident

Kent C. Decker, 53, of East Rd. 32, Bellevue, died Monday, March 26, 2001, at his farm.

He was born on May 11, 1947, to Charles and Hazel (Musser) Decker. His father is deceased. His mother survives in Bellevue. On August 28, 1976, he married Beth Dinehart, who survives.

Survivors also include: a son; Kevin Decker, and a daughter; Sevanne Decker, both of Bellevue, a twin brother; Keith Decker, of Bellevue, two sisters; Mrs. Paul (Etta) Meisner, of Green Springs and April Smith of Bellevue.

A brother, Dean Decker is deceased.

Mr. Decker, a lifetime Thompson Twp. resident, was a 1965 Thompson High School graduate as well as an area Bellevue farmer. He was employed at Whirlpool Corp. from 1965-1990 and retired after 25 years. He was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ in Bellevue and an active member in it's fund raising affairs, a member of the Seneca County Farm Bureau, the Fair Board and was the Chairman of the tractor pull.

Services will take place at 11 a.m., Friday, at the church. The Rev. Candace Thomas will be the officiant.

Visitation is 2-4 and 6-9 p.m., Thursday, at the Auxter Funeral Home, Bellevue.

Memorials may be made to the Zion United Church of Christ Church Memorial Fund, 13525 Twp. Rd. 178, Bellevue, OH., 44811.

Vesta J. Parmelee
Former teacher

Vesta J. Parmelee, 70, of Legacy Oaks Circle, Roswell, GA., died at 12:00 noon, Saturday, March 24, 2001, in the North Fulton Hospital, Alpharetta, GA.

She was born on June 11, 1930, in East Canton, OH., to the Rev. Lewis G. and Anna Betty (Fry) Fritz. Both are deceased. On June 19, 1954, in New Bremen, she married Robert E. Parmelee, who survives.

Survivors also include: two sons; Christian Gardiner Parmelee of Roswell, GA., and Clayton Lewis Parmelee of Hermosa Beach, CA., and a brother; Finley M. Fritz of Lakeside, CA.

Mrs. Parmelee was a first grade teacher for many years at Parma, Abington, PA., Melrose, MA., Rochester, NY., Westfield, N.J., and Severna Park, MD.

She was a member of the Fellowship Bible Church, Roswell, GA. and a Sunday school teacher for several years and a Superintendent. She received her B.A. from Heidelberg College.

The Rev. Roy Howell will be the officiant at the 11 a.m. Thursday service at Bringam-Clark and Co. Funeral Home, Upper Sandusky. Burial will be in Bethel cemetery, McCutchenville.

Visitation is one hour prior to service at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Assoc., in care of Bringman-Clark Funeral Home, P.O. Box 246, Upper Sandusky, OH 43351 or to the Learning Center at Fellowship Bible Church, 480 W. Crossville Rd., Roswell, CA.

Dorthy E. Falter
Former Tiffin Glass Employee

Dorothy E. Falter, 93, formerly of 296 S. Sandusky St., died at 9:10 p.m., Monday, March 26, 2001, at St. Francis Home.

She was born Feb. 1, 1908, in Geneva, IN, to Stephen and Jessie (Eyanson) Kenney. On June 17, 1930, in Geneva, IN., she married Roman J. Falter. He preceded her in death in 1994.

Surviving are: a son; Jerome "Jerry" Falter and a daughter; Mrs. Herman (Eloise) Keiffer, both of Tiffin, three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Deceased are: two sisters; Alice Eierman and Glennis Hoackenson, and two brothers; William and Edward Kenney.

Mrs. Falter attended college in Angola, IN., and taught school in St. Stephens, OH. She was employed at the Tiffin Glass Factory and General Electric, and was a member of the Altar-Rosary Society and St. Mary's Catholic Church.

A mass will take place at 11 a.m., Friday, at St. Mary's Church with the Rev. Frank A. Murd officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Visitation is 9-10:30 a.m., Friday at the Hoffman-Gottfried Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Church or St. Francis Home.

D. Welma (Heuberger) Walter
Former Westinghouse employee

D. Welma (Heuberger) Walter, 85, of 952 St. Hwy. 568, Carey, died at 6:55 p.m. at St. Catherine's Care Center, Fostoria.

She was born March 3, 1916, in Wood County, to Joseph and Leona (Coger) Kerr. On Oct. 7, 1937, she married Glenn D. Heuberger. He died in1952. On Dec. 24, 1955, she married Paul E. Walter, who survives.

Also surviving are: sons; Dale L. Walter of Sylvania, Ted and Gene Walter both of Carey, Vern Walter of Honolulu, daughters; Mrs. Robert (Doris) Walker of Risingsun, Mrs. Richard (Darlene)

Knowlton of Findlay, Mrs. Joe (Arlene) Bennett and Mrs. Olin (Sharon) Nuzum, both of Arlington, Mrs. Lewis (Marlene) Young of Bourbonnais, IL., and Darlene Walter of Carey, 21 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Deceased are two sons, Donald Heuberger and John Walter, three sisters, Anna Stump, Aletha Passet and Edith Kerr, and a granddaughter.

In 1952, she was the first female Postmaster of the Wharton Post Office. She was a former employee of Westinghouse in Upper Sandusky and a homemaker, a 33 year member of Ridge Chapel Church of the Nazarene near Carey and had also attended Trinity Baptist Church in Findlay, where she was a church organist and pianist for many years.

A 1934 graduate of Warton High School, she volunteered at the Broken Arrow Home, enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading, travelling and gardening.

Sevices will take place at 10 a.m., Friday, at the Ridge Chapel Church of the Nazarene, Carey, with the Rev. Buck Traylor officiating. Burial will be at the Wharton-Richland Union cemetery, Wharton.

Visitation is 2-9 p.m., Thursday at the Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, Carey, Friday, and one hour prior to the service.

Memorials can be made to the Dorcas Carey Public Library, Ridge Chapel Church of the Nazarene or the Broken Arrow, in care of the funeral home.

M. Fay Jay
Autolite retiree

M. Fay Jay, 87, of Walnut St., Fostoria, died at 5:10 p.m., Tuesday, March 27, 2001, at her residence.

She was born in Artamus, PA., to Gordon and Leah Smith.

Surviving are daughters; Leona Clagg and Ruthann Little, both of Fostoria, and Leota Dieterle of West Millgrove, six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Deceased are a brother, Woodrow Smith and two grandchildren.

Mrs. Fay retired from Autolite, March 1979, after 30 years of employment and was a member of the First Christian Church and the Moose Lodge in Fostoria.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, at the Riverview cemetery, West Milgrove, followed by burial.

Memorial may be made to the Fostoria Home Health Care.

Charles R. Wyant
Fostoria resident

Charles R. Wyant, 68, of East Center St., Fostoria, died Tuesday morning at his home.

He was born in Findlay, on May 12, 1932, to Frank and Maggie (Morratt) Wyant. Both are deceased. On Sept. 3, 1960, in Findlay, he married Barbara Little, they later divorced.

Survivors include: sons; Tracy Wyant of Garrett, IN., Richard and Bill Wyant, both of Maumee, and Frank Wyant of Fostoria, daughters; Mrs. Tim (Susan) Altvater of Forest, Shirley Kruszynski of Fostoria, and seven grandchildren.

Deceased are two brothers.

Service will take place 1 p.m., Friday, at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home and will be officiated by Mark Bishop.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
