ARCHBOLD - Carolyn J. Aschliman, 63, of Archbold, died Sunday morning, Aug. 8, 2004, at the Helen Street House in Paulding.
Among survivors are her parents, Vernon and Alice Aschliman. Arrangements are pending at Short Funeral Home in Archbold.

QUINCY, Mich. - William R. Kroa, 73, of Quincy and formerly of Jonesville and Bryan, Ohio, died Sunday, Aug. 8, 2004, at his residence. Arrangements are pending at the Eagle Funeral Home, Jonesville.
Louise C. Jones
(1905 - 2004)
WAUSEON - Louise C. Jones, 98, of Wauseon, died Saturday, Aug. 7, 2004, at the Fulton Manor Nursing Home in Wauseon.
Born Aug. 17, 1905, in Wauseon, to Alice Marie Louise (Charpiot) and Charles P. Grisier, she married Clair Jones and he preceded her in death.
An active member of the First Christian Church - Disciples of Christ in Wauseon, she occupied many leadership roles in the Church's Christian education programs. She was superintendent of the churchÕs primary department for many years and was also active in many other community organizations.
She was a past Worthy Matron of Fulton Chapter 67, Order of the Eastern Star and was later elevated to Deputy Grand Matron of District 7, OEA.
She attended Ward-Belmont College in Nashville, Tenn. and the Curry School of Expression in Boston, Mass. Upon returning to Wauseon, she engaged in numerous theatrical productions and pageants. In 1953, she and her mother wrote a pageant depicting the history of Wauseon for the city's centennial celebration. She also directed the pageant. In 1962, she and her sister Catherine wrote the script for "One Hundred Years With The First Christian Church In Wauseon" which she also directed. In 1957, she and her mother again collaborated to write the script for the one hundredth anniversary of the Fulton County Fair. As a result, she was invited to speak on behalf of the Fulton County Fair Board at the State Fair Board's meeting on Columbus that year and helped the county win the coveted "Best Fair of the Year" award.
In 1972, she was enshrined in the Exchange Club's "Book of Golden Deeds"for her unselfish service to family, friends, her church, and her community. In 1991, she was elected to the Fulton County Agricultural SocietyÕs Hall of Fame for her service to 4-H Camp Palmer, gifts to agricultural scholarships, contributions to the fair and other services to the agricultural community in general. Surviving are eight nieces and nephews, Mrs. Allen (Donna Grisier) Segrist, Mrs. Joe (Nanette Grisier) Eckert, Mrs. Doug (Carolyn Canter) Haney, Mrs. Albert (Patricia Canter) Williams, Jim (and wife, Arlene) Roos, Tom (Kathy) Roos, Phil (Pat) Roos, Mrs. Mike (Kay Roos) Meuth; 18 great-nieces and nephews; and 21 great-great-nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Catherine L. (Grisier) Roos and Alice L. (Grisier) Canter; and a brother, Donald K. Grisier.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. in the Edgar-Grisier Funeral Home in Wauseon. Fulton Chapter OES services will be held at 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the First Christian Church - Disciples of Christ in Wauseon. Interment will follow in the Wauseon Union Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church or 4-H Camp Palmer.
Gary L. Stuckey
(1947 - 2004)
WEST UNITY - Gary Lee Stuckey, 56, of West Unity, died Saturday, Aug. 7, 2004, due to an accident while farming in West Unity.
Born Aug. 26, 1947, at Napoleon, to Rutheda Marie (Grieser) and Loren Levi Stuckey, he married Marlene Faye Gerig on Nov. 2, 1968, and she survives and resides in West Unity.
A 1965 graduate of Archbold High School, he was employed for two years, from 1965 to 1967, at the Sarasota Memorial Hospital in Sarasota, Fla. in the 1-W Service. He became the owner/operator of Stuckey and Sons Equipment of West Unity and was a farmer.
He was a member of the Lockport Mennonite Church in rural Stryker. Surviving, in addition to his wife of 35 years, are his mother, Rutheda Marie Stuckey of Archbold; three sons, Timothy Lee Stuckey of West Unity, Chris Allen (and wife, Brenda) Stuckey of Wauseon, and Ryan Gary Stuckey of Bryan; a daughter, Mrs. Mark (Amy Lynne) Stevens of Scottsdale, Ariz.; two grandsons, Christian and Preston Stevens of Scottsdale, Ariz.; two granddaughters, Stephanie and Melissa Stevens of Scottsdale, Ariz.; a sister, Mrs. Mark (Glenda) Nofziger of West Unity; three brothers, Dean (Colleen) Stuckey of West Unity, Allen (Judy) Stuckey of West Unity and Phil (Barb) Stuckey of Archbold.
He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Andrew Stuckey.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 2-8 p.m. in the Lockport Mennonite Church at 9269 Co. Rd. 21/N in Stryker.
Memorial services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. from the church with Pastor Allen G. Rutter to officiate. There will be a private burial in the Lockport Mennonite Church Cemetery in rural Stryker. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.

Earl C. Maier
(1924 - 2004)
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -The Times has received word that Earl C. Maier, 79, formerly of Hamilton, Ind., also a resident of Napoleon, Mich. and a 20-year resident of Hartville, died Saturday, Feb. 14, 2004, in The Lodges Nursing Home in Springfield.
The son of Marcia (Bell) and Henry Maier, he was born Nov. 9, 1924, in Hamilton, Ind. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he was a 32nd degree Mason and a teacher for the Cassidy Lake Technical School in Chelsea, Mich., a division of the Michigan Prison system, for 23 1/2 years, retiring in 1979. He had received his bachelor of science degree from Purdue University and his master's degree from Michigan State University.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Wayne (Marcia) Warner of The Dalles, Ore.; a grandson, Christopher Wayne Warner; a sister, Mabel Rohrbough of Okeechobee, Fla.; a brother, Jack Householder of Hartville; former spouse, Norma (Griffin) Maier-Phillips of Florida; 15 nieces and nephews; and many grandnieces and grandnephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; a son, Alvin Conan Maier; and a brother, Harold Maier. There will be no visitation.
Graveside services will be Monday, Aug. 9 at 11 a.m. in the Edon, Ohio, Cemetery with graveside military rites conducted by the Edon American Legion Post 662.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Fannie M. Rathburn

Fannie M. Rathburn, 80, of Bryan, and formerly of Napoleon, died Thursday afternoon, Aug. 5, 2004, at the home of her daughter in Bryan.
The daughter of Flossie (McMorcik) and Hershel Conner, she was born Aug. 15, 1923, in Tiffin. On Sept. 20, 1946, she married Robert W. Rathburn I, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 26, 1968.
A homemaker, she was also a former production worker for the Foster Canning Co. of Napoleon and the Napoleon Egg Auction.
Surviving are two sons, Robert W. Rathburn II of Garrett, Ind., and Ronald L. (and wife, Vickie) Rathburn of Butler, Ind.; two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Peggy) Spegel of Nevada, Ohio, and Cecilia Rohdy of Bryan; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Anna Hall of Sycamore. Preceding her in death, in addition to her husband, were two brothers, William and Hershel Conner. Visitation will be Sunday from 2-4 and 5-8 p.m. at the Walker Mortuary in Napoleon.
Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. in the mortuary, with the Rev. Rick Chickering officiating. Interment will be in Highland Memory Gardens in Waterville.
Memorials may be made to the Henry County Humane Society or to a charity of the donor's choice.
Lura Vivian Shannon
(1916 - 2004)
BUTLER, Ind. - Lura Vivian Shannon, 88, of Butler, died Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2004, at Laurels of DeKalb Nursing Home.
Born April 8, 1916, at DeKalb County, to Ruth (Swinehart) and Frank Gift, she married Harold E. Shannon on April 24, 1937, at Blakeslee, Ohio, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 12, 1988. She had been employed at Universal Tool.
Surviving are a son, James (and wife, Marie) Shannon of Butler; a granddaughter, Mrs. Chris (Brenda) Geiser of Auburn; great-grandchildren, Mrs. Lynn (Allison) Graber of Grabill, and Ashley, Audra and Sean Geiser of Auburn.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Allen and Raymond Gift.
Visitation will be held Saturday from 9-11 a.m. in the H.E. Johnson & Son Funeral Home, Butler. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home, with Pastor Saneta Maiko to officiate. Interment will be in Eddy Cemetery, Hamilton.
Memorials may be made to the Zion United Methodist Church.
