Donna E. Tsantles
Fostoria retired bailiff

Donna E. Tsantles, 76, of Bradenton, Fla., and formerly of Fostoria, died at 7:26 a.m. Wednesday, April 11, 2001, at Surrey Place in Bradenton, Fla.

She was born Aug. 18, 1924, in Findlay to Orrin and Florence (Houser) Breidigan. She married James P. Tsantles on Dec. 23, 1944, and he survives in Bradenton, Fla.

Surviving are: three sons, Nick T. of Bradenton, Fla., Pete J. of Nashville, Tenn., and Steve A. of Fostoria; a daughter, Mrs. Marty (Christine A.) Phillips of Fostoria; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ruth Ellen Driggs of Fostoria.

Two sons, Michael and Tommy, are deceased.

Mrs. Tsantles graduated from Fostoria High School in 1942; was a retired bailiff for City of Fostoria; member of First Presbyterian Church of Fostoria, Fostoria Business Women Association, Fostoria Republican Club, and chairperson of Fostoria Day in Florida.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria, with interment in Fountain cemetery, Fostoria.

Visitation is 7-9 p.m. Sunday and 9-11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Ohio Parkinson Foundation, Northwest Region, Inc., 12740 Twp. Rd. 114, Fostoria, OH 44830.

Dorothy A. Kiehl
Upper Sandusky resident

Dorothy A. Kiehl, 85, formerly of 220 N. 7th St., Upper Sandusky, died at 9:45 p.m., Thursday, April 12, 2001, in Fairhaven Health Care Community, Upper Sandusky, where she had lived since July of 1997.

Mrs. Kiehl was born June 3, 1915, in Wyandot County to Elmer and Lydia (McFarland) Wertman. She married Russell A. Kiehl on Feb. 3, 1934, in Newport, Ky. He died Dec. 30, 1968.

Survivors include: two sons, Karl F. of Montpelier, and Daniel F. of Upper Sandusky; three daughters, Ruth Strinka and Shirley Shifflet, both of North Ridgeville, and Janis Chinn of Vanceburg, Ky.; 12 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and a brother, Ira Wertman of Upper Sandusky.

Deceased are; a brother, Virgil; and a sister, Mary Ellen White.

She was a homemaker; worked for the Stubbs family; a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church; a volunteer at Wyandot County Senior Citizens Center, Upper Sandusky Fire Department Women's Auxiliary; and enjoyed playing cards, bingo and growing flowers.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Monday in the Bringman Clark and Co. Funeral Home, Upper Sandusky, with the Rev. Jerry Elsholz and the Rev. Cathy Wirth officiating. Burial will be in Old Mission cemetery, Upper Sandusky.

Visitation is 3-5 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, Fairhaven Health Care Community, Wyandot County Senior Citizens or to a charity of the donor's choice, c/o Bringman Clark and Co. Funeral Home, P.O. Box 246, Upper Sandusky, OH 43351.

William E. Hoerig
ITT /J. A. Miller Tile retiree

William E. Hoerig, 70, of 473 N. Sandusky St., died Thursday, April 12, 2001, at his residence.

He was born July 21, 1930, in Tiffin, to Carl L. and Ruth (Bish) Hoerig. On March 22, 1949, at St. Joseph Church in Lawrenceburg, Ind., he married Margrette Elchert, and she survives.

Survivors also include: sons, Rick T. Hoerig of Fostoria, Michael A. Hoerig of Tiffin, Daniel J. Hoerig of Fostoria, Kevin J. and Christopher L. Hoerig, both of Tiffin, and Steven J. Hoerig of Fostoria; daughters, Mrs. James (Diana) Omlor of Fostoria, Cheryl Burns of Bettsville, Mrs. Marty (Teresa) McQuistion and Nancy Fleming, both of Tiffin; brothers, Mel Hoerig of Florida, Harold Hoerig of Tiffin, James Hoerig of Michigan and Jerry Hoerig of Wakeman; 32 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Deceased are: a son, Larry E. Hoerig, a brother, Charles Hoerig, two infant sisters, and a grandson, Andrew James Omlor.

Mr. Hoerig attended Melmore Public Schools and was employed at ITT Abrasives as a wheel balancer, and J. A. Miller Tile Co. in Bascom.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Eagles Aerie 402 and Moose Lodge 846. He was an avid camper, fisherman and gardener.

The Rev. Keith Stripe will officiate services 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Church with a rosary to be recited at 9:45 a.m. Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery.

Visitation is 1-3 and 6-9 p.m. Monday in the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the Andy James Omlor Scholarship Fund in care of Hopewell-Loudon School, Bascom, or to the family.

Marie G. Saunders
Fostoria resident

Marie G. Saunders, 79, of Fostoria, died at 11:55 a.m., Friday, April 13, 2001, at Fostoria Community Hospital.

She was born June 3, 1921, in Gallia County, to Alfred Monroe and Jennie (Strickland) Hatfield. She was first married to Myrl Roberts, and he died. Later, she married Walter Saunders, and he also died.

Survivors include: four sons, Eugene Roberts of Austin, Texas, Paul Roberts of Fremont, Roger Roberts of Columbus, and Phillip Roberts of Bidwell; three daughters, Nargena Dimitrovski of Naples, Fla., Barbara Woodruff and Carolyn Miles, both of Fostoria; a brother, George Hatfield of Napoleon; two sisters, Faye Hanley of Fostoria and Rilla Luckadoo of Gallipolis; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.

Mrs. Saunders was a member of Springfield Baptist Church and the Old Red Brick Church in Gallia County.

She retired as a nurse from Holzer Medical Center and the Gallipolis Developmental Center in Gallipolis.

Services will take place at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home in Gallipolis. Burial will be at the Centenary cemetery.

Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 2500 N. Reynolds Road, Toledo, OH 43615-2820.

The Mann-Hare Funeral Home in Fostoria is handling local arrangements.

Mary L. Shiley
Carey resident

Mary L. Shiley, 81, of 328 West St., Carey, died at 7:15 a.m. Saturday, April 14, 2001, at her home. She was born March 30, 1920, in Tiffin to Urban J. and Marie C. (O'Connor) Phillips. On Aug. 29, 1940, she married Harold F. Shiley at St. Mary Catholic Church, and he survives.

Other survivors include: three daughters, Carolyn M. Shiley of Toledo, Mrs. Harry (Barbara A.) Traxler of McCutchenville and Kathleen L. Johnson of Toledo; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Franklin (Jane A.) Reinhart of Carey.

Her parents and a grandson, Lon Traxler, are deceased.

Mrs. Shiley was a homemaker and a special occasions cake baker for many years in the Carey area.

She was a member of the National Shuffleboard Association and the Ohio Shuffleboard Association and was a national champion in 1967. She was a member of the Rosary Altar Society and was a 1938 graduate of Calvert High School in Tiffin.

A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation, Carey, with the Rev. Benjamin Knopp officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery, Carey.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Monday at the Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home in Carey with a Christian wake service at 8:30 p.m.

Memorials may be made to Our Lady of Consolation Church or a charity of the donor's choice.

Mary I. Gerlinger
Fostoria resident

Mary I. Gerlinger, 94, of 130 W. Culbertson St., Fostoria, died at 11:30 a.m. Friday, April 13, 2001, at the Independence House, Fostoria.

She was born Nov. 9, 1906, in Somerset, to David L. and Florence I (Chalfant) Rousculp. She married Dr. Lawton C. Gerlinger on June 9, 1930, in Columbus. He died Feb. 7, 1967.

Surviving are: a son, Dr. Lawton C. Gerlinger Jr. of Dayton; a daughter, Mrs. David (Ann) Haney of Upper Arlington; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Also preceding her in death were: her parents; three brothers, Alfred, Edward and Wayne Rousculp; and two sisters, Wilda Koenig and Helen Ridenour.

Mrs. Gerlinger had been a secretary with Radio City Music Hall in New York City and Ohio Bell Telephone Co. in Columbus. A long-time member of Hope Lutheran Church, Fostoria, she was a 1925 graduate of East High School in Columbus and attended Capital University in Columbus for two years.

She was a member of the Fostoria Woman's Club, National Society of D.A.R., Fostoria Historical Society and several genealogical societies. She was also a volunteer for the American Red Cross and Fostoria Community Hospital.

A celebration of life service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Hope Lutheran Church with the Rev. Dr. Larry Knigga officiating. Burial will be in Fountain cemetery in Fostoria.

Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria.

Memorials may be made to Hope Lutheran Church or the American Heart Association.

Marianne E. Nusser
Fostoria resident

Marianne E. Nusser, 71, of 843 N. Main Street, died at 6:03 p.m., Saturday, April 14, 2001, at St. Catherine's Care Center.

She was born Nov. 4, 1929, in Fostoria, to Caples Ash and Kathryn (Stafford) Warner. On July 15, 1950, in Fostoria, she married James E. Nusser. He preceded her in death on Dec. 14, 1976.

Survivors include: sons, James A. and Robert K. Nusser, both of Fostoria; sisters, Barbara Wilder of Ft. Myers, Fla., and Helen Perkins of Hutchinson Island, Fla., and four grandchildren.

Deceased also include a grandchild.

Mrs. Nusser, a homemaker, was a 1947 graduate of Fostoria High School, and had been employed at the Gray Printing Co., and as a cook at the Good Shepherd Home, both in Fostoria. She was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church.

Services will take place 11 a.m., Tuesday, at the Mann-Hare Funeral Home with the Rev. Branson J. Hawkes officiating. Interment will be in the Fountain cemetery.

Visitation is 10-11 a.m., prior to the services, Tuesday, at the funeral home.

Marjorie Anita Eberly
Former Tiffin resident

Marjorie Anita Eberly, 81, of 617 S. Blanchard St., Findlay, died at 1:55 a.m., Sunday, April 15, 2001, at Winebrenner Village.

She was born March 20 1920, in Tiffin, to Dr. Orlen O. and Carolina Shafer. On July 19, 1939, in Tiffin, she married Gordon F. Eberly, and he survives.

Survivors also include: a son, Dennis F. Eberly, of Findlay and a grandson.

Mrs. Eberly was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church of Findlay, and the Findlay Chapter 362 Women of the Moose.

Services will take place 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, at the Coldren-Crates Funeral Home, 205 W. Sandusky St., in Findlay, with the Rev. Gene Milioni officiating. Burial will be in the Fairmont cemetery in Tiffin.

Visitation is 7-9 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home.

Norman F. Clauss
Fostoria resident

Norman F. Clauss, 38, of 1308 42nd Street, died at 9:20 p.m., Saturday, April 14, 2001, at the Toledo Hospital.

He was born July 5, 1962, in Fostoria, to George F. and Lois A. (Boyd) Clauss, and they both survive. His fiancé, Sheryl J. Burtch survives in Fostoria.

Other survivors include: brothers, David F. and Robert S. Clauss both of Fostoria, and Michael W. Clauss of Adrian.

Preceding him in death is a sister, Ellen Clauss.

Mr. Clauss, was a 1981 graduate of Lakota High School, Owens Community College graduate, with an Associate Degree, and a Terra Community College graduate, earning four Associates Degrees.

He had been employed for several years as a Child Life Assistant at Toledo Hospital. He was a member of TRIO (Transplant Recipients) and a Cystic Fibrosis summer camp counselor for many years.

The Rev. Ralph N. Geiger will officiate services at 10 a.m., Wednesday, at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home in Fostoria. Burial will be in Fountain cemetery.

Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Summer Camp Program.

Mary F. Schriner
Wife of former Tiffin doctor

Mary F. Schriner, 97, of 2297 N. SR 53, Tiffin, died Sunday, April 15, 2001, at the Autumnwood Care Center.

She was born Dec. 17, 1903, in Fairfield, Ohio, to Frank and Ida (Mitchell) Creed. On August 10, 1935, in Richmond, Ind., she married Dr. Robert E. Schriner. He preceded her in death, Jan. 21, 1971.

Survivors include numerous nieces and nephews.

Deceased are: brothers, Fred, Jerry, and Tom Creed; sisters, Theresa Hensel, Marie James, Cornelia Keller, and Lucile Forester; a nephew and a niece.

Mrs. Schriner graduated from the Columbus Business College, and was a secretary for the medical profession, including the office of her late husband, Dr. Robert E. Schriner.

She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, a 50 year member of Eastern Star, Mohawk Country Club, and CIC (Catawba Island Club).

Services will take place at noon, Tuesday, at the Hoffman-Gottfried Funeral Home, with the Rev. Gail Angel officiating. Burial will be in the Forrest Rose cemetery in Lancaster, Ohio.

Visitation is 11 a.m.-noon, Tuesday, prior to the service, at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Tiffin, the Shriner's Burn Hospital, or the charity of the donor's choice.

Clifford Burke
Webster MFG. retiree

Clifford Burke, 83, of 252 Shawhan Ave., Tiffin, died at 6:19 a.m, Sunday, April 15, 2001, in Mercy Hospital.

He was born April 7, 1918, in Monticello, Ky., to Henry Harrison and Mima (Ball) Burke. On Dec. 7, 1941, in Whitley City, Ky., he married Lonnie E. Morrow, and she survives.

Survivors also include: a son, Ronald Burke of Ft. Seneca; daughters, Mrs. Ralph (Dorothy) Jacumin of Rutherford College, N. C., Mrs. Paul (Patricia) Walker of Bloomville, and Mrs. Robert (Diane) Barrier of Valdese, N.C., a brother, Richard Burke of Whitley, Ky., 15 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

Deceased are: a son, Bill Lee Burke in 1971, eight brothers, a sister, and a granddaughter, Lisa Rana Walker.

Mr. Burke was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church, in Tiffin, and was employed with Webster Mfg. from 1951 until he retired in 1983.

Services will take place at 10 a.m., Wednesday, at the Turner-Engle Funeral Home, with the Reverends David Spradlin and Merl Landrum, and Brother Watson Combs officiating. Burial will be in the Fairmont cemetery.

Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Freewill Baptist Church.
