Mary Kathryn 'Kitty' Nieset
Clyde resident

Mary Kathryn "Kitty" Nieset, 70, of Race St., Clyde, died in her home on Friday, May 18, 2001. She was born April 9, 1931 to William J. and Catherine H. (McCann) Cullen. On Aug. 19, 1950 she married Gerald F. Nieset, and he survives.

Other survivors include: four sons, Joseph Nieset of Green Springs, David Nieset of Mishawaka, Ind., William Nieset of Clyde, and James Nieset of Clyde; three daughters, Mrs. Susan Dymond of Clyde, Mrs. Patricia Kingsborough of Fremont, and Mrs. Margaret "Peggy" Lieske of Green Springs; a brother, Thomas Cullen of Clyde; two sisters, Eileen Graham of Waukegan, Ill. and Mrs. Margaret Doyle of Huntington Beach, CA; 18 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Preceded in death were: a sister, Jane Cullen; and two brothers, John "Jack" Cullen and James Cullen.

Mrs. Nieset was a Class of 1948 graduate of Clyde High School, she was a homemaker and her memberships included: St. Mary's Catholic Church, Altar and Rosary Society and St. Mary's D.O.V.E. for 25 years; Past president St. Francis Guild; and former presiding judge for the election board in her precinct.

The Funeral Service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Clyde. Burial will be at St. Mary's cemetery.

Visitation hours are from 2-9 p.m., Sunday, at the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home with Christian Wake Services at 8:30 p.m.

Memorials may be made to Clyde St. Mary's School and/or Sandusky County Hospice.

C. Alton Zimmerman
Retired farmer

C. Alton Zimmerman, 91, of 5244 N. TR 137, Tiffin, died at 12:30 p.m. Friday, May 18, 2001 at St. Francis Health Care Center. He was born April 10, 1910, to Homer and Nora (Mayer) Zimmerman. On Oct. 8, 1938 he married Julia Margaret "Peggy" Factor. She survives.

Other survivors include: a son, David Zimmerman of Tiffin; a daughter, Mrs. Donna Swint of Brighton, Mich.; four grandchildren, Levinda Zimmerman of Clyde, Jennifer Swint of Brighton, Mich., Jason Swint of Oak Creek, Wis., and Jaime Swint of Charleston, S.C.

Preceding him in death were: two sisters, Ida Evans and Helen Hoeltzel.

Mr. Zimmerman was a 1928 graduate of Old Fort High School. He was born and lived his entire life at his home and retired as a farmer. His memberships included: Shiloh United Methodist Church; 50-year member and past president of Old Fort Lions Club; board member and past president of Peoples Mercantile Elevator; board member of Maple Grove Elevator; board member and past president of the Old Fort School Board; former Liberty Township Trustee; member and past president of the Fairmont cemetery Association.

The Rev. James T. Mussman will officiate the 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 21, 2001, funeral at Turner-Engle Funeral Home in Tiffin. Burial will be at Fairmont cemetery.

Visitation hours are 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. The Old Fort Lions Club services will be at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Old Fort Lions Club and/or Shiloh United Methodist Church.

George O. Barr
Retired Webster Mfg. employee

George O. Barr, 80, of Tiffin, died Sunday, May 20, 2001, in the Ruffing Care Center of Tiffin.

He was born Nov. 1, 1920, in Castalia, Ohio to Howard and Bertha (Stewart) Barr. Both are deceased. On June 2, 1945, in

Sandusky, he married Ruth J. Bennington. She died Jan. 14, 1991.

Survivors include: two sons, Ronald L. Barr of Pocatello, Idaho, and Neal A. Barr of Belton, Texas; five daughters, Mrs. Floyd (Judy) Zabel of Western, Neb., Mrs. William (Kathleen) Decker of Findlay, Ruth Scott, and Mrs. Duane (Cheryl) Wisebaker both of Tiffin., and Mrs. Walter (Charlene) Miller of McCutchenville; 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Deceased are two brothers, Fay and Lee Barr and a sister, Clara Mae Morrow.

Mr. Barr was employed as a spray painter at Webster Mfg. from 1970-1988, when he retired. He was of the Methodist Faith and a Norwalk High School graduate.

Services will take place at 11 a.m., Wednesday at the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home in Tiffin. The Rev. Larry Smith will be the officiant. Burial will be in Seneca Memory Gardens.

Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Helen M. Davenport
Green Springs resident

Helen M. Davenport, 88, formerly of 4115 Smith Rd., Green Springs, died at 9:20 p.m., Saturday, May 19, 2001, in the Bethesda Care Center in Fremont, where she had been a patient since Oct. 1999.

She was born on Dec. 10, 1912, in Bowling Green, to Orville and Flora Irene (Fuller) Ward. Both are deceased. On Feb. 8, 1936, in Endicott, N.Y., she married Lewis L. Davenport. He died Jan. 8, 1977.

Survivors include: sons, Eldon Davenport of East Brewton, Ala., Harold Davenport of Green Springs, Sanford Davenport of Vickery, Marvin Davenport of Fremont; a daughter, Beverly Barr of Vickery; brothers, Robert Ward of Dayton, Richard Ward of Atlanta, William and John Ward, both of Bowling Green;19 grandchildren; and 25 great grandchildren.

Deceased include: a son, Donald Davenport; a brother, Howard Ward; two sisters, Geraldine Garrett and Mary Miller; a grandchild; and a great-grandchild.

Mrs. Davenport was a homemaker and member of the Green Creek Farm Women Organization. She graduated in 1930 from Bowling Green High School.

Services will take place at 11 a.m., Tuesday, at the Engle-Young Funeral Home of Green Springs, with the Pastor Paul Finney officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens in Clyde.

Visitation is 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Unit of Bethesda Care Center or the American Heart Association.

Judith Ann Saylor
Mother of Tiffin resident

Judith Ann Saylor, 57, of Weston, died at 12:45 p.m., Tuesday, May 22, 2001 at St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo.

She was born on May 30, 1943, in Bowling Green, to Lawrence R. and Nellie (Kistner) Stinehart. He died Nov. 14, 1994, and she survives in Weston. On March 16, 1963, in Indiana, she married Richard H. Saylor, and he survives in Weston.

Survivors also include: three sons: Adam, Derrick and Jeff Saylor, all of Weston; seven daughters, Lindsey and Sara Saylor of Weston, Lori Saylor of Westerville, Dawn Steere of St. Joe, Ind., Tanya Tolles of Custar, Krista Saylor of Tiffin, and Shelly Walston of Pemberville; two sisters, Sandra Miller of Westerville, and Karen Wilhelm of Findlay; and 10 grandchildren.

Mrs. Saylor was a homemaker and a 1961 graduate of the former Westwood High School, and the former Warner School of Cosmetology in Toledo. She was a member of Weston Church of Christ.

Services will take place at 11 a.m., Friday, at the Weston Church of Christ in Weston and will be officiated by the Rev. Kim Huffman. Burial will be in the Weston cemetery.

Visitation is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Thursday, at the Loomis-Hanneman Funeral Home in Weston.

Memorials may be made to the Weston Church of Christ, Weston, Ohio 43569.

Phyllis M. Lucius
ITT Abrasives retiree

Phyllis M. Lucius, 76, formerly of 7 W. Market St., Tiffin, died Monday, May 21, 2001 at Autumnwood Care Center.

She was born May 31, 1924, in Orrville, Ohio, to William G. and Eva B. (Saylor) Heebsh. Both are deceased. On May 23, 1948, in Trinity United Church of Christ in Tiffin, she married Henry P. Lucius. He died Nov. 12, 1993.

Surviving is a half brother, Richard Heebsh of Findlay.

Deceased include: a step-mother, Helen Heebsh and a sister, Miriam Eaton.

Mrs. Lucius, was a Columbian High School Graduate and attended Tiffin University for one year. She was employed at Sterling ITT Abrasives for 40 years in the clerical department.

She was a member of the Trinity UCC of Tiffin as well as the Friendship Circle at the church, Eastern Star Tiffin Chapter 189, Daughters of America, Diabetics Association and Seneca County Home Auxiliary.

Graveside services will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday at Greenlawn cemetery with the Rev. Roger D. Perl officiating.

There will be no visitation.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Robert J. Lee Jr.
Computer Engineer

Robert J. Lee, 31, of 54 Dunwoody Springs Drive, Atlanta, Ga., died Monday May 21, 2001.

He was born on February 25, 1970 in Tiffin, to Robert J. and Marianne (Sherman) Lee, Sr. and both survive in Tiffin.

Survivors also include: a sister, Mrs. Matthew (Christine M.) Villenauve of Hudson; and his grandmother, Virginia R. Lee of Tiffin.

Deceased include: a grandfather Robert H. Lee, and grandparents Donald and Ann Sherman.

Mr. Lee was a 1988 Calvert High School graduate and a 1993 Bowling Green State University graduate. He was the lead software engineer for Applied Systems Intelligence Inc. in Roswell, Ga.

He was a member of the Cathedral of Christ the King Church in Atlanta and its CTK singles group, and a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity.

A rosary will be recited at 10:45 a.m., Friday, followed by a funeral mass at 11a.m., at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Tiffin. The Rev. Michael G. Dandurand will be the officiant. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation is 6 -9 p.m., Thursday, at the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home in Tiffin.

Memorials may be made to the Calvert High School Computer Lab or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Judy Robinson
Tiffin resident

Judy Robinson, 53, of 150 Railroad St., died at 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 22, 2001, at her residence.

She was born on Dec. 28, 1947 in Columbus, to Vernie and Alma (Canter) Moyer, and he is deceased and she survives in Upper Sandusky. Her husband, Charlie Robinson survives.

Other survivors include: four sons, Daniel, Craig, and Lee Reinhart, and James Pocock, all of Tiffin; a daughter, Michelle Brickner of Pigeon Forge, Tenn; a brother, Willie Merrill of Ft. Myers, Fla.; five sisters, Linda Wagner of Urbana, Shirley Greene and Dorothy Rhinesmith, both of Ladylake, Fla., Rose Kilbarger of Dayton, and Ethel Moyer of Billings, Mont., and11 grandchildren.

Deceased include: a daughter, Constance Reinhart, and a sister, Barb Gaietto.

Mrs. Robinson was formerly employed as a food preparer at Frisch's Big Boy in Tiffin. She was also a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Tiffin.

Services will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, at the Hannay-Traunero Home, in Tiffin, with the Rev. Wendell Shepherd officiating. Burial will be in Seneca Memory Gardens.

Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Thursday, and one hour prior to Friday's services at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Community Hospice Care of Tiffin, or to the Church of the Nazarene.

Samuel C. Newcomer
Carey resident/WWII Veteran

Samuel C. "Sam" Newcomer, 84, formerly of Yule Tree Drive in Carey, died at 3:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 22, 2001 at Wyandot County Nursing Home in Upper Sandusky.

He was born May 25, 1916, in Alvada, to Harvey and Inice Newcomer. On Oct. 13, 1940, in Memorial Evangelical Church in Carey, he married L. Arlene Perkins. She is deceased.

Survivors include: two sons, Roger Newcomer of Stockbridge, Ga., and Donald Newcomer of Mt. Vernon; a daughter, Mrs. William (Betsy) Gosciewski of Sidney; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert Newcomer of Stockbridge, Ga., and two sisters, Mrs. Nina King of Troutman, N.C., and Mrs. Larry (Carol) Walter-Sargent of Findlay.

Mr. Newcomer was a retired auto salesman, a 60 year member of Memorial United Methodist Church in Carey, a former member of the dartball team at the church, and a 1934 graduate of Vanlue High School. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp. during WWII. He also loved fishing and bowling.

Services will be at 11 a.m., Friday, at the Memorial United Methodist Church in Carey, with the Reverends Paul Goetz and Robert Klingel officiating. Burial will be in Spring Grove cemetery in Carey.

Visitation is 2-5 and 7-9 p.m., Thursday, at the Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, 225 W. Findlay St., in Carey, and one hour prior to Friday's services at the church.

Memorials may be made to the Activity Fund at Wyandot County Nursing Home in care of the funeral home.

Betty J. Hunt
Airfoil Textron retiree

Betty J. Hunt, 70, of N. Vine St., Fostoria, died at 2:51 p.m., Tuesday, May 22, 2001 at St. Charles Hospital in Toledo.

She was born on March 5, 1931, in Leon, W. Va., to John H. and Virginia B. (Davis) Sayre. Both are deceased. On Feb. 2, 1952, in Cottageville, W. Va., she married William P. Hunt and he survives.

Survivors also include: a son, Mickey A. Hunt of Fostoria; three daughters, Mrs. Larry (Vicki) L. West of Chesterfield, Ind., Mrs. Richard (Paula) Reinhart, and Heather D. Hunt, both of Fostoria, a sister, Nellie Casto of Evans, W. Va., seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Hunt retired in 1991 from Airfoil Textron (formerly X-Cello) with over 30 years of employment. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Fostoria, a 1949 graduate of Ripley High School in Ripley, W. Va., and a member of the Fostoria Women's Club.

Services will take place at 11 a.m., Friday, at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home in Fostoria with the Rev. Donald Goodwin officiating. Burial will be in Knollcrest Gardens in Arcadia.

Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

George R. Ritter Sr.
Former Clyde resident

George R. Ritter, Sr., 84, formerly of Clyde and Sandusky, died Wednesday, May 23, 2001 at Rutherford House in Fremont.

He was born Aug. 26, 1916, in West Lodi, to John and Bessie (Zechman) Ritter. They are deceased. On Oct. 5, 1940, he married

June Colvin. She died July 22, 1973.

Survivors include: a son, George R. Ritter Jr. of Birmingham, Ala., two daughters, Mrs. Thomas (Susan) Leber of Clyde and Jennifer Ritter of Columbus; a brother, John Ritter of Ft. Myers Beach, Fla., a twin sister, Mrs. Milo (Virginia) Hart of Lakeland, Fla., nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and one step-grandchild.

Deceased are three brothers, LeeRoy, Paul and Warren Ritter and a sister, Marie Dick.

Mr. Ritter, a 1935 graduate of York High School, was a truck driver with Shippers Dispatch in Sandusky where he retired from in 1984. He then worked at Security Delphi. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Sandusky.

Services will take place at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, at the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home in Clyde. The Rev. Bill Grandi will officiate. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memory Gardens.

Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Sandusky County.
