Rev. Leslie W. Miller

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Rev. Leslie W. Miller, died Saturday, Aug. 7, 2004, at Home of Hope Hospice Center in Grand Rapids.
He and his family attended First Presbyterian Church for many years, including while he was attending Louisville Presbyterian Seminary. He then pastored the First Presbyterian Church in Hicksville from 1964 until 1969, while the church building was constructed on West Arthur St. A move to Michigan allowed him to serve in Lenawee County at Adrian First Presbyterian, Cadmus Presbyterian and Britton Community (where he retired on his 75th birthday) as well as two Presbyterian churches in the Vernon, Ind. area.
He co-founded a couseling center and several Bible-based community programs. Before entering full-time ministry, he followed his first college degree working in the agriculture industry with Farm Bureau on the west side of the Square in Bryan, Ohio.
Surviving is his wife of 57 years, Mary Miller, who was employed by Spangler Candy and Rural Co-operative Electric Company until her move to Michigan; two daughters, who attended Bryan Public Schools, Margaret Freund of Grand Rapids, Mich. and Ruth Miller of Carrollton, Ga.; a son, Clifford Miller of Oceanside, Calif.; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Edna Faye Craig and Vina Knapp.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, Aug. 22, at 2 p.m. in Grand Rapids, Mich. Call daughter Margaret at 616-940-0818 for details. The body has been donated to the Medical School at the University of Michigan.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to an organization of choice supporting underprivileged children or children's ministry of the Presbyterian Church.

Ann Isabell Barker
(1929 - 2004)

ANGOLA, Ind. - Ann Isabell Barker, 74, of Angola, Ind., died Thursday, Aug. 12, 2004, at Lakeland Nursing Center, Angola.
Born Dec. 14, 1929, at Auburn, she was daughter of Georgia (Mason) and Dale Van Wagner. Employed at Scotts Grocery in the deli and seafood department, she was a 1948 graduate of Ney High School where she was salutatorian.
A member of the Ney Methodist Church in Ney, Ohio, she had also worked as a nurses aide at Hillside Nursing Home and Bryan Nursing Care in Bryan, Ohio, and at Lakeland Nursing Center in Angola.
Surviving are three sons, David (and wife, Debbie) Barker of Lynchburg, Va., Jeff (Donna) Barker of Fort Wayne, and Quinn Barker of Waterloo; four daughters, Mrs. Joe (Karen) Winebrenner of Angola, Susan Kellogg and her companion, Randy Layman of Alvordton, Mrs. Ron (Mary) Hall of Lewisburg, Tenn., and Becky Caldwell of Kendallville; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Joe (Peggy) Van Wagner of Springhill, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Robert and Raymond Van Wagner. Visitation will be held Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the Weicht Funeral Home, Angola. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Steuben County.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Jack R. Sheets
(1926 - 2004)

Jack R. Sheets, 75, of Bryan, died Friday, Aug. 13, 2004, at Parkcliffe Alzheimer's Community in Toledo.
Born Dec. 11, 1928, in Williams County, he was the son of Evelyn (Meyer) and George Sheets. A retired brick layer, he was a member of the AMVETS and VFW of Bryan.
Surviving is a son, Jack (and wife, Denise) Sheets II of Bryan; a daughter, Mrs. Neil (Jill) Wonderly of Sherwood; three grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Merle (Betty) Betts of Kearneysville, W.Va. and Mrs. Robert (Gladys) McArthur of Pittsford, Mich.; and former wife, Dorothy Sheets of Bryan.
Preceding him in death were his parents and twin infant sons, Ronald and Donald Sheets. Visitation will be held Sunday from 6-8 p.m. in the Oberlin-Ford Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be private at Brown Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Ameotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (Lou Gehrig Disease) Foundation.

Brooke Lalah Baker
(Aug. 11, 2004)

EDON - Brooke Lalah Baker, infant daughter of Jessica L. Joice and John A. Baker, of rural Edon, was stillborn Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2004, at Community Memorial Hospital in Hicksville.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by a brother, Austin Baker; maternal grandparents, Marc Joice and Mrs. Paul (Debra) Green, both of Edon; paternal grandparents, Ron Baker of Edon and Mrs. Ray (Darlene) Calvin of Montpelier; maternal great-grandparents, Jim and Rosie Thiel of Blakeslee and Mary Joice of Edon; and paternal great-grandparents, Ralph and Doris Baker of Hamilton, Ind. and Lynn and Emma Penrod of Angola, Ind.
Visitation will be held Monday from noon until 1 p.m. in the Krill Funeral Home, Edon.
Services will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. in the funeral home.

Raymond C. Kuszmaul
(1912 - 2004)

Raymond C. Kuszmaul, 92, of Graceville, Fla. and formerly of Bryan, died Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2004.
Born May 8, 1912, at Bryan, to Anna (Robinson) and Charles Frank Kuszmaul, he married Marjorie Sinkey on May 31, 1936, and she preceded him in death in 1988. He then married Thelma Spangler, and she preceded him in death in 1998.
An Army veteran of World War II, he was a retired truck driver from Sentle Trucking Company. He was a member of VFW Post No. 2489 of Bryan and a member of Military Order of Cooties No. 16 of Bryan.
Surviving is a daughter, Mrs. Earl (Joan) Bechtol of Montpelier; a son, Ray (and wife, Adele) of Graceville, Fla.; four granddaughters, Mrs. Jack (Kathy) Foster of Clyde, Sherry Daniels of Montpelier, Kimberly Deck of Montpelier and Mrs. David (Teri) McPhail of Graceville, Fla.; two grandsons, Earl Bechtol Jr. of Montpelier and Steve (Gina) Kuszmaul of Phoenix, Ariz.; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mildred Gerry of Montpelier and Mrs. Delvain (Clara) Kittle Sr. of Edgerton.
In addition to his wives, he was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Herbert, Lavon, Lester and John Kuszmaul; and two sisters, Vera Coy and Wilma Ramey.
Graveside services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Shiffler Cemetery, Pulaski, with the Rev. Fred Brandon to officiate.
Memorials may be made to the VFW or to the donor's choice.
Arrangements are by Burr Funeral Home and Crematory, Bryan.

Infant Son Chase
(Aug. 10, 2004)

DEFIANCE - An infant son was stillborn to Tara (Dukes) and Robert Chase of Defiance on Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2004, at the Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers-Bryan. Surviving, in addition to his parents, are two sisters, Kloee and Morgan Chase at home; grandparents, Ed and Pam Chase of Defiance and Duane and Sandy Dukes of Bryan; great-grandmothers, Dorothy Chase of Defiance, Pauleen Biggs of Defiance, Berneice Hageman of the state of Florida, and Ruby Dukes of Leipsic.
Preceding him in death were great-grandfathers, Okla Hageman, Edwin Dukes, Robert Bigger and Ted Chase; great-grandmother, Florann Boisseau; and an uncle, Matthew Dukes.
Graveside services will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Poplar Ridge Cemetery, Defiance County, with the Rev. Glen Whisler to officiate.
Memorials may be made to the family.
Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Wayne 'Craig' Taylor
(1951 - 2004)

RADFORD, Va. - Wayne 'Craig' Taylor, 52, of Radford, died Tuesday, July 6, 2004.
Born Oct. 9, 1951, at Allentown, Pa., to Lucelia (Miller) and Wayne Taylor, he married Teresa Bly Clark on May 23, 1983, at West Unity, Ohio, and she survives.
An employee of Alliant Tech Systems for 29 years, he was a 1975 graduate of Virginia Tech with a degree in aerospace engineering and a masters degree in business management from Frostburg State in Maryland.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are his two children, Mitchell and Bethany Taylor, all of Radford; his mother, Lucelia  Taylor of St. Marys, Ga.; a brother, Danny  Taylor of Tampa, Fla.; three sisters, Debbie  Taylor of Orlando, Fla., Mrs. David (Eileen) Simons of St. Marys, Ga. and Mrs. Bill (Judee) Stine, of St. Marys, Ga. and formerly of West Unity, Ohio; his father-in-law, Lewis Bly of Bryan, Ohio; and special friends, Josephine Clark of Montpelier, Ohio, and Shawn and Pam Clark of Pioneer, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his father, Wayne Joseph Taylor.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the United Methodist Church, West Unity, with the Rev. Ruth Ann Scoby to officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Radford Fire and Rescue, 1500 Wadsworth St., Radford, Va. 24141.
