Sherri LiAnne Phoenix
Carey resident

Sherri LiAnne Phoenix, 35, of 129 Dow St., in Carey, died at 2:43 p.m., Monday, June 11, 2001, in Wyandot Memorial Hospital in Upper Sandusky.

She was born Aug. 23, 1965, in Findlay, to Richard and Louise (Sopher) Buckingham. Her father survives in Minnesota and her mother survives in Carey. On Jan. 14, 1985, she married Kenny Phoenix and he survives.

Also surviving include two sons, Tyler and Trevor Phoenix, and a daughter, Sarah Phoenix, all residing in Carey; two sisters, Mrs. Bill (Missy) Scott of Upper Sandusky, and Sandy Will of Carey.

Mrs. Phoenix was a member of Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church in Carey, and was a representative for Buckeye Girls State and attended Ohio State University. She was coach of Carey Soccer Club, a member of Carey Athletic Boosters, Carey Women's Bowling League, and assisted with childrens sporting events.

A Mass will take place at 11 a.m., Saturday, at Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church in Carey. Officiating services will be Father Peter Damian Massengill. Burial will be in Spring Grove cemetery in Carey.

Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Friday, at Beach Funeral Home in Carey.

Memorials may be made to the family in care of the Beach Funeral Home, 214 W. Findlay St., Carey, Ohio 43316.

Mildred N. Carroll
Clyde resident

Mildred N. Carroll, 72, of West Maple St., Clyde, died on Thursday, June 14, 2001 at Bellevue Hospital. She was born Jan. 18, 1929 to DeWitt Baylock and Edwina (King) Baylock Courtney. She married her first husband, Arvel Akers, Jr. in 1946. He died in 1950. She then married Orville Carroll on Sept. 29, 1951. He died Jan. 17, 2000.

Surviving include: two sons, Gregory Akers of Tiffin and Dale Carroll of Clyde; two daughters, Mrs. Karen Jo Akers McClenathan and Lisa Carroll, both of Clyde; a sister, Noreen Keys of Natchez, Miss.; ten grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.

Deceased are: three brothers.

Mrs. Carroll worked for Clyde Cutlery and was former co-owner of Erlin Bar with her husband from 1969 to 1975. Her memberships included: St. Mary's Catholic Church; Altar Rosary Society; Eagles Auxiliary; and VFW Auxiliary, all of Clyde and former member of Top Hats. She was an avid baker, wrestling fan and enjoyed NASCAR.

The Rev. Jeff Nordhaus will officiate the 10 a.m. Tuesday funeral service at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Clyde. Burial will be at Bakertown cemetery in Clyde.

Visitation hours are from 6-9 p.m. Monday, with Rosary being recited at 8:45 p.m. at the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to St. Mary's School, 609 Vine St., Clyde, OH 43410.

Sara L. Grover Eichar
Area residents' sister

Sara L. Grover Eichar, 61, of 1330 Foraker Ave., Findlay, died at 9:49 p.m. Thursday, June 14, 2001, in the Intensive Care Unit at Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center, Findlay.

She was born Jan. 14, 1940, in Tiffin to Cloyce E. and Mary V. (Storehalder) Grover. She married David H. Eichar Aug. 16, 1984, and he survives.

Other survivors include: a son, Kevin P. Grover of Findlay; a stepson, Charles David Eichar of North Baltimore; three stepdaughters, Mrs. Steve (Cheryl Anne) Newman of Omaha, Neb., Mrs. Frank (Sandra Jeanne) Simon of Findlay, and Sheila Jayne Eichar of Homested, Fla.; 14 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; three brothers, Carl Grover of Tiffin, Robert Grover of Attica, and Richard Grover of McDonough, Ga.; four sisters, Alice Williams of North Royalton, Mrs. Raymond (Suzanne) Huffman and Mrs. George (Virginia) LaFontain of Tiffin, and Dolores Grover of Findlay.

Her parents and a brother, Mark Grover, are deceased.

Mrs. Eichar was a 1958 graduate of Calvert High School. She had been a 1st Lt. in the Civil Air Patrol.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday in St. Michael Catholic Church, downtown Findlay, with the Fr. Doug Taylor officiating. Burial will be in Knollcrest cemetery, east of Findlay.

Visitation is 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday in the Kirkpatrick-Behnke Funeral Home, Findlay, where there will be a scripture service at 8:30 p.m.

Memorials may be made to St. Michael Catholic Church or Howard United Methodist Church.

Marjorie E. Romick
Former Ohio Bell operator

Marjorie E. Romick, 82, of 3155 CR 220, Findlay, died at 3 a.m. Friday, June 15, 2001, at her residence.

She was born July 25, 1918, in Champaign County, Ohio, to Herman and Harriet (Craig) Huber. She married Robert C. Romick on Oct. 12, 1940. He died April 22, 1988.

Survivors include: two daughters, Mrs. Donald (Julie) Ruehle of Findlay, and Beth Harper of Tiffin; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Two sisters, Frances Burke and Ruth Thompson, preceded her in death.

Mrs. Romick was a former telephone operator at Ohio Bell for 20 years; a member of St. Marks United Methodist Church, Telephone Pioneer Club, Blanchard Valley Hospital Auxiliary, Crusade Sunday School Class, Mary Circle at church, and Laurate Beta Phi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in the Coldren-Crates Funeral Home, Findlay, with the Rev. Lowell Reeder officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove cemetery, Findlay.

Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to bridge Home Health and Hospice, 425 Frazer St., Findlay, OH 45840 or St. Marks United Methodist Church, Findlay.

Dr. H.R. Wenner
Carey veterinarian

Dr. H.R. Wenner, 80, of 312 W. Findlay St., Carey, died at 3:51 a.m., Friday, June 15, 2001, in Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center, Findlay.

Dr. Wenner was born Aug. 14, 1920, in rural Carey to C.C. and Cecil (Beebe) Wenner. He married Mary Frances Snobarger Aug. 31, 1940, and she survives.

Other survivors include: his step-mother, Alice Wenner of Tiffin; two daughters, Mrs. John (Tracy) Raymaley of Upper Sandusky, and Mrs. Ronald (Cassandra) Kromer of Carey; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a step-sister, Jeanne Christian of Tiffin.

Deceased include: a brother, Robert Wenner; a step-brother, Robert Bacon; and two sisters, Martha Carter and Ruth Coppler.

He was a 1937 graduate of Carey High School; attended Ohio Northern University 1938-1939; and received his DVM degree from The Ohio State University in 1943. As a college student, he was a member of the U.S. Army Specialized Training Program from 1941-43 and was a veteran of World War II. He was a veterinarian in Carey for the past 57 years.

Memberships include: a life member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, Carey where he served on church council; American Veterinary, Ohio Veterinary and North Central Veterinary Medical Associations; charter member of Carey Jaycees and served as first president; life member Earl Green American Legion Post #344, Carey; and Masonic-Carey Lodge #420 F and AM, Carey Chapter #159 R.A.M. He served 12 years on Carey Board of Education; served as board member of Angeline School of Opportunity; inducted into Carey Hall of Fame in 1985; inducted into the Wyandot County 4-H in 1958; was recognized for meritorious service to the Wyandot County 4-H in 1978; and received the Carey Jaycees Distinguished Service Award for his community service.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, Carey, with the Rev. Paul DeMoss officiating. Burial will be in Spring Grove cemetery, Carey.

Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Sunday at the Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, Carey.

Memorials may be made to Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church Memorial Gift Fund, Carey Ecumenical Choir or Our Lady of Consolation School, c/o Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, 225 W. Findlay St., Carey, OH 43316-1169.

Robert E. Snider
Retired Westinghouse employee

Robert E. Snider, 78, 513 E. Lima St., Forest, died at 6:26 a.m., Wednesday, June 13, 2001, in Hardin Memorial Hospital, Kenton.

Mr. Snider was born May 21, 1923, in Forest to Elmer E. and A. Marie (Spencer) Snider.

Survivors include: two sisters, Mrs. James (Dolly) Rodman of Forest, and Mrs. Rick (Pat) Morrison of Marion.

Deceased are four brothers, Donald, Lee Jay, Burton and Loren Snider.

He was in the U.S. Army and a World War II veteran; and a life member of the McVitty VFW Post #1182, Forest.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. today at the Shields Funeral Home, Forest, with the Rev. Donald Clinger officiating. Burial will be in Hueston cemetery, Forest, where there will be military graveside services by McVitty VFW #1182 and American Legion Post #259, both of Forest.

Richard E. Richardson
Retired Mohawk principal

Richard E. Richardson, 73, of 204 W. 9th St., Sycamore, died at 11:45 p.m. Thursday, June 14, 2001, at St. Marys Medical Center, Saginaw, Mich.

Mr. Richardson was born July 30, 1927, in Buckland, Ohio, to Jule and Dorothy (Coil) Richardson. He married Helen Powell April 18, 1954, and she survives.

Other survivors include: two sons, Randall of Springfield, and Mark of Findlay; a daughter, Mrs. Michael (Cathy) Sadlak of Sterling, Mich.; five grandchildren; a brother, Vernon of Spencerville; and three sisters, Mrs. Julia Gruebmeyer and Mrs. Ruth Nolan, both of Spencerville, and Mrs. Richard (Virginia) Place of Buckland.

Deceased are: a brother, Ronald; and two sisters, Faye and Opal.

He graduated from Buckland High School in 1945; served in the U.S. Navy during World War II; received his bachelors and masters degrees from Bowling Green State University. He retired from the Mohawk School system where he spent 34 years, teaching 17 years at Sycamore and 17 years as elementary principal at Melmore.

He was a member of Sycamore United Church of Christ where he served on the church consistory as president and also as superintendent of Sunday School. He was past president of the Wyandot County Teachers Association and the Mohawk Teachers Association; served on the Sycamore Village Council; active with the Sycamore Boy Scouts; member of Sycamore Lions Club and Enterprise Lodge #579 F and A.M.; and an avid fisherman.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Sycamore United Church of Christ with the Rev. William Chidester officiating; and burial will be in Pleasant View cemetery, Sycamore.

Visitation is 7-9 p.m. Sunday; 1-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at the Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore. The body will lie in state from 10-11 a.m. Tuesday in the church prior to service.

Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association, Wyandot County Heart Support Group or Sycamore United Church of Christ.

Arthur Freeman
Amsden resident

Arthur Freeman, 67, of TR 1002, Amsden, died at 1:05 a.m., Sunday, June 17, 2001, at his home.

He was born May 12, 1934, in Fount, Ky., to Theodore and Eva (Smith) Freeman. They are deceased. On April 28, 1956, in Jellico, Tenn., he married Juanette Nicholson and she survives in Amsden.

Survivors also include: three sons, Arthur Freeman Jr. of Fostoria, Theodore Freeman of Amsden and Steven Freeman of Risingsun; two daughters, Cindy Freeman of Findlay and Mrs. Charles (Phyllis) Cavey of Fostoria; three brothers, Steve Freeman of Hudson, James Freeman of East Lake and William Freeman of Ravenna; a sister, Lorene McMarlin of Ravenna; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Two brothers, Ralph and Theodore Freeman, and one great-grandchild are deceased.

Mr. Freeman retired in 1996 from Premier Refractories (Basic) with more than 30 years of service. He was a member of the Quarter Century Club.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home in Fostoria. Burial will take place in Zion Lutheran cemetery near Fostoria.

Visitation is 6-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Seneca County Hospice.

Sister Mary Emmanuel Heinlen, OSU
Calvert H.S. teacher

Sister Mary Emmanuel Heinlen, 99, of the Toledo Ursuline Sisters, died Saturday, June 16, 2001, at the Ursuline Center.

There are no immediate survivors.

She was born June 16, 1902. As the former Wilma Heinlen, she entered the Ursuline Convent July 16, 1921, from St. Joseph Parish in Garrett, Ind., and professed her final vows on Feb. 27, 1927.

A graduate of the former St. Ursula Academy in Tiffin, Sister Mary Emmanuel received a bachelor's degree from Toledo Teachers' College and a master's degree from the University of Notre Dame. She did further graduate study at Catholic University of America, Notre Dame University and Georgetown University.

Sister Mary Emmanuel taught in several Toledo diocesan elementary schools and was principal of St. Patrick Historic. Beginning 1935, she taught Latin and Spanish at Calvert High School in Tiffin for 37 years and she retired in 1975. She was inducted into the Calvert Fall of Fame.

She was the author of three texts for teaching Latin: "Quomodo Dicitur," "Via Latina" and "Dic Mihi Latine"The American Classical League of Miami University in Oxford distributes the books.

A funeral Liturgy will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Ursuline Center Chapel in Toledo. Burial will be at 2 p.m. in St. Joseph Parish cemetery in Tiffin.

Visitation will be after 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Ursuline Center, 4035 Indian Road, in Toledo, with a vigil service at 7 p.m. in the Ursuline Center Chapel.

Memorials may be made to the Ursuline Convent of the Sacred Heart Retirement Fund.

Arrangements are being made with the Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 S. Reynolds Rd., in Toledo.

James E. Herman
Nickel Plate retiree

James E. "Pickle" Herman, 72, of Ellis Avenue in Bellevue, died Saturday, June 16, 2001, at St. Francis Nursing Home in Green Springs.

He was born July 6, 1928, in Fremont, to Clarence John and Gertrude (Halbeisen) Herman, and both are deceased.

Survivors include: a brother, Robert Herman of Bellevue; and two sisters, Mrs. Edward (Rita) Hartzell and Mrs. William (Patricia) Manahan, both of Bellevue.

A brother, Donald Herman, died in 1989.

Mr. Herman was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Bellevue, Bellevue Eagles, Moose and VFW. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed baseball and football.

He attended Bellevue schools and was a U.S. Army veteran,having served in the Korean Conflict. He worked as a pipefitter for 42 years with Nickel Plate Road (now part of Northern Southern Railroad).

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Immaculate Conception Church in Bellevue with the Rev. Robert Tucceri officiating. Burial will be in Bellevue Catholic cemetery.

Visitation is 6-9 p.m. Tuesday, with Christian Wake services at 8:45 p.m., at the Auxter Funeral Home in Bellevue.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Dorothy Ann Kimes
Mother of Fostoria resident

Dorothy Ann Kimes, 79, of Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Fostoria, died at 8:10 a.m. Saturday, June 16, 2001, at the nursing home.

She was born Oct. 24, 1921, in DeKaub County, Ind.,

to Terry and Pearle (Hoffman) Worman, and both are deceased. On May 3, 1940, in Fort Wayne, Ind., she married Charles E. Kimes, and he died Sept. 8, 1997.

Survivors include: a son, Elery Kimes of Belleville, Texas; a daughter, Mrs. Gary (Eloise) Knox of Fostoria; three brothers, George Worman of Coldwater, Mich., Lewis Worman of Albion, Ind., and Richard Worman of Butler, Ind., a sister, Betty Laux of Winslow, Ariz.; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A brother, Wayne Worman, a daughter, Mary Ann Kimes, and a sister, Cora Bauman, are deceased.

Mrs. Kimes was a 1939 graduate of Spencerville High School in Spencerville, Ind., was a homemaker and a member of DeLeon Springs United Methodist Church in DeLeon, Fla.

Services will take place at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home in Fostoria, with the Rev. Jeff Raker and the Rev. Alan Sandford presiding. Burial will be in DeLand Memorial Gardens in DeLand, Fla.

Visitation is 7-9 p.m. Monday and one hour prior to Tuesday's services at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to DeLeon Springs United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 807, DeLeon, Fla., 32130-0807.
