Gail Marie "Mayme" Elchert, 91, of Walker St., died at 5 p.m. Saturday, June 30, 2001, at Autumnwood Care Center in Tiffin.

Arrangements are pending at the Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home in Tiffin.

Laura May Glick
Resident of Tiffin

Word has been received that Laura May Glick, 82, of East Davis Street, died at 5:18 p.m. Saturday, June 30, 2001, at the home of her daughter.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Turner-Engle Funeral Home in Tiffin.

Visitation is 6-9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Patricia C. Meyers
Fostoria homemaker

Patricia C. Meyers, 76, of West Jackson St., Fostoria, died at 3:40 p.m. in her home on Thursday, July 5, 2001. She was born April 14, 1925 in Fostoria to Patrick and Catherine (Lemm) Ledwedge. On April 11, 1953 she married Donald P. Meyers. He died Dec. 3, 1998.

Surviving include: three sons, Timothy Meyers of Fostoria, Terrance meyers of Iler and Ted Meyers of Toledo; a sister, Julie Wasserman of Fremont; 8 grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

Deceased are two brothers, Robert and William Ledwedge.

Mrs. Meyers was a 1944 graduate of St. Wendelin High School. A Homemaker and member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Wendelin Catholic Church, where the Rosary will be recited at 10 a.m. Burial will be at St. Wendelin Parish cemetery in Fostoria.

Visitation hours are from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, with a Rosary Service at 7:30 p.m. at the Harold-Floriana Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to St. Wendelin Education Fund and/or Bridge Hospice of Hancock County.

James E. Cassidy
Lifelong Seneca Co. farmer

James E. "Jim" Cassidy, 70, of TR 59 in Fostoria, died at 1:13 a.m. Friday, July 6, 2001, in St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo.

He was born in Leopold, Ind., Jan. 14, 1931 to William E. and Mary Ellen (Peter) Cassidy. Both are deceased. On Feb. 7, 1959 at St. James Catholic Church in Kansas, he married Catherine A. "Mike" Frisch and she survives.

Survivors also include: two sons, David E. Cassidy of New Riegel and Rocky W. Cassidy of Mt. Gilead; three daughters, Mrs. Gregg (Joann M.) White and Mrs. Tim (Nancy L.) Dussel, both of Fostoria, and Sharon T. Horn of Lawton, Okla; six grandchildren; a brother, Norbert Cassidy of Tiffin; and four sisters, Mrs. Franklin (Bernice) Holman, Mrs. Donald (Irene) Holman, and Miss Marjorie Cassidy, all of Fostoria, and Mrs. Eugene (Rosalie) Holman of Findlay.

Deceased include: two brothers, Omer "Joe" and Mathias Cassidy; and one sister, Connie Steinmetz.

Mr. Cassidy was a U. S. Army Veteran and a retired lifelong Seneca County farmer. He also retired in 1986 as a Millwright from General Dynamics in Lima as well as retired from the former Fostoria Foundry.

He was a member of: St. Wendelin Catholic Church in Fostoria, Fostoria Eagles Aerie 430, New Riegel Moose Lodge 872 and the New Riegel American Legion Post 354.

A rosary will be prayed at 12:30 p.m. Monday followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1 p.m. in St. Wendelin Catholic Church. Burial with Military Funeral Rites will be conducted by the New Riegel American Legion in the parish cemetery.

Visitation is 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at Hoening Funeral Home in Fostoria, with a memorial service at 7 p.m. conducted by the New Riegel American Legion and a Christian Wake Service at 8:30 p.m.

Memorials may be made to St. Wendelin Church in Fostoria or a charity of the donor's choice.

Earl W. Hosler
Brother of Tiffin resident

Earl W. Hosler, 79, of Findlay, died at 11:33 a.m. Friday, July 6, 2001 at his residence.

He was born July 31, 1921, in Cloverdale to William and Mabel (Hanna) Hosler. Both are deceased.

Survivors include: five brothers, Cliff Hosler of North Baltimore, Orlo and Robert Hosler, both of Findlay, Ralph Hosler of Whitehouse, and William Hosler Jr. of Tiffin; two sisters, Betty Thompson of Pt. Clinton and Mary Ann Deppler of Findlay; and his caretaker and niece, Robin Deppler-Nungester of Findlay.

Deceased include ten brothers and sisters.

Mr. Hosler was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd United Methodist in North Baltimore.

He worked 14 years on the B & O Railroad and 14 years as a custodian for the Wood County Hospital.

Services will take place at 1 p.m. Monday, at Coldren-Crates Funeral Home, 205 W. Sandusky St. in Findlay. Burial will be in Maple Grove cemetery in Findlay.

Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Heartland Hospice, 3450 W. Central Ave., Suite 230, Toledo, Ohio 43606.

Newton Lawson
Retired truck driver

Newton Lawson, 73, of 71 Morningside Drive, in Tiffin, died at 1:30 a.m. Friday, July 6, 2001 at his residence.

He was born March 27, 1928, in Manchester, Ky., to Sherman and Barbry (Harris) Lawson. Both are deceased. On Dec. 27, 1949, in Newport, Ky, he married Dorothy Halley and she survives.

Survivors also include: five sons, Stephen and Mark Lawson of Bloomville, Jan Lawson of Columbus, Robert Lawson of Tiffin and Richard Lawson of Louisville, Ky; a sister, Mary Perkins of Manchester, Ky; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Deceased include: two brothers, Paul and Estill Lawson, and one sister, Susan Smith.

Mr. Lawson was a truck driver for Ray Mowery Trucking and retired in 1986. He received an award for one million accident-free miles driving truck. He was an avid woodworker, hunter, and fisherman.

Memorial services will take place at a later date. There will be no visitation.

Memorials may be made to the Community Hospice Care or to the Lawson family.

The Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Robert H. Miller
Railroad retiree

Robert H. Miller, 85, of Bellevue, died Thursday, July 5, 2001 in St. Francis Health Care Center in Green Springs, following a brief illness.

He was born April 23, 1916 in Bellevue, to Harley and Mary (Klechner) Miller. On March 17, 1938 in Covington, Ky., he married Thelma L. Schreck. She died Jan. 10, 1994.

Survivors include: a son, Michael J. Miller of Huron; a daughter, Mrs. Thomas (Roberta) Hunt of Pemberville; a brother, Paul Miller; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Deceased also include: a daughter, Carol Ann Miller; two brothers, Melvin and Willard Miller; and a sister Na Omi Miller.

Mr. Miller graduated in 1934 from Bellevue High School. He was employed with the former NKP Railroad and N & W Railway for 33 years and he retired in 1978.

Services will take place at 11 a.m. Monday at the Harris Funeral Home, 289 W. Main St. in Bellevue. Pastor Douglas Lewis will be the officiant. Burial will be in Bellevue cemetery.

Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to St. Francis Health Care Centre, 401 N. Broadway, Green Springs, OH 44836.

Walter Sheets
Green Springs resident

Walter Sheets, 50, died Wednesday July 4, 2001 in Green Springs.

He was born Oct. 29, 1950 in Kentucky, to Fred and Nail (Wolford) Sheets. Both are deceased.

His wife, Janet Sheets survives. They were married on June 5, 1986 in Ky. Additional survivors include: sons, Jerry and Roger Justice of Watwan, W. Va., Kelly Justice of Green Springs, and Mike Beckley of Fremont; daughters, Janice Justice of Green Springs and Heather Sheets of Matewan, W. Va; seven grandchildren; brothers, Donald Stacey of Fremont, Thurman Stacey of Green Springs, Herman, Carl and Tracey Stacey, all of Fremont, and Jimmy Stacey of Rayland, W. Va., sisters, Page Showe of Fenton, Mich., Juanita Fry of Fremont, Joyce Lucas of Virginia Beach, Va., and Martha Dotson of Ransom, Ky.

A daughter, Tonya Sheetsis also decesaed.

Mr. Sheets was a factory employee.

Services will take place at 1 p.m., Monday at the Engle-Young Funeral Home in Green Springs. The Rev. David Ritter will officiate. Burial will be in Green Springs cemetery.

Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Phyllis L. Tong
A O Smith retiree

Phyllis L. Tong, 68, formerly of Sycamore, died Sunday evening, July 1, 2001, at Brookpark in Tiffin.

She was born Nov. 30, 1932 in Wyandot County to Palmer and Edith (Bussinger) Getz. Both are deceased. On Aug. 30, 1951, she married Berlin Tong and later divorced.

Survivors include: two sons, Phillip Tong of Carey, and Steven Tong of Tiffin; a daughter, Mrs. Stephan (Laura) Woodard of Upper Sandusky; a brother, Garvin Getz of Upper Sandusky; and four grandchildren.

Deceased are; a son, Michael; a daughter, Karen; and two brothers Vinton and Melvin Getz.

Mrs. Lawson was a graduate of Upper Sandusky High School in 1950 and she retired from A.O. Smith in Upper Sandusky.

She enjoyed reading, writing, collecting, knickknacks, visiting with people and spending time with her grandchildren.

Graveside services will take place at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Oak Hill cemetery in Upper Sandusky. The Rev. Cathy Wirth will be the officiant.

There will be no visitations.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice in care of Lucas Funeral Home, P.O. Box 207, Upper Sandusky, OH 43351.

Joseph E. Hupertz
Tiffin resident

Joseph E. Hupertz, 94, of Autumnwood Care Center and formerly of 15 Boehler Street, died at 12:25 p.m. Saturday, July 7, 2001.

He is survived by his wife, Catherine; two sons, Bill Biddle of Tiffin and Thomas Biddle of Lima; two daughters, Mary Foster of Carrollton, Ky., and Dianna Whiteman of Orlando, Fla.; 17 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Private graveside services will be Monday in Fairmont cemetery. There will be no visitation.

Memorials may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church or in care of the family.

Turner-Engle Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Lucille M. Orwig
Tiffin resident

Lucille M. Orwig, 83, of 115 Lincoln Road, died Friday, July 6, 2001, at her residence.

She was born Oct. 18, 1917, in Fireside to Richard Good and Corinne (Sommers) Good. On March 5, 1938, in Fireside, she married Daryll L. Orwig and he died June 16, 1994.

Survivors include: two sons, Melvin D. Orwig of Rio Rancho, N.M., and Thomas E. Orwig of Fairway, Kansas; and four grandchildren.

Preceding her in death was a brother, James.

Mrs. Orwig attended Sandusky Business School and was bookkeeper and secretary for Frosted Foods in Tiffin.

She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Tiffin. She was past president, charter member and emeritus member of Altrusa Club. Additionally, she was a member of Col. George Croghan Chapter of DAR, the Denarah Court 10 of Toledo and the Lady Lions.

A memorial service will take place at 2 p.m. July 14 at Trinity United Church of Christ in Tiffin. The Rev. William Smith will be the officiant. Burial will be in Fireside cemetery.

There will be no visitation.

Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Trinity United Church of Christ, Community Hospice Care, Shriners Hospital, Lions Club or Altrusa Club.

Robert J. Wolpert
Relative of Tiffin residents

Robert J. "Bobby" Wolpert, 19, of Xenia, died Friday, July 6, 2001, in Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.

He was born June 6, 1982, in Findlay to Jeffrey Nimocks and Linda Nihiser, and both survive.

Survivors also include: two brothers, Justin Nimocks of Xenia and Gregory Wolpert of Tiffin; a sister, Jennifer Nihiser of Logan; and grandmothers, Barbara Stiverson and Betty Nimocks, both of Tiffin.

Mr. Wolpert attended Greenview High School and was employed at the Kay Bee Toy Store in Jeffersonville.

A memorial service will take place at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home with the Rev. Cathy Wirth officiating.

Visitation is 2 p.m. Tuesday prior to the services at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
