Mary A. Wheeler

Mary A. Wheeler, 69, of Fostoria, died at 3:31 p.m. Tuesday, July 10, 2001, at Mercy Hospital of Tiffin.
She was born Jan. 22, 1932, in Hunter, Okla., to Henry T. and Bernice (Canfield) Garner, both are deceased. On March 1, 1950, she married
Robert F. Wheeler in Goshen, Ind. He died Nov. 19, 1992.
Surviving include: a son, Norman R. Wheeler of Fostoria; two daughters, Carol A. McAfee, and Patricia A. Spencer, both of Fostoria; two brothers, Wayne Garner of Bradner, and Ted Garner of Fostoria; a sister, Lenora Roth of Green Springs; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Deceased include: four brothers, Tom, Bill, Alvin and Merle Garner; two sisters, Daisy D. Corbin and Bessie Rubel; and a granddaughter.
Mrs. Wheeler was a member of King Parish in Hatton.
Services will take place at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Mann-Hare Funeral Home in Fostoria, with the Rev. Mary Slaughterbeck officiating. Burial will take place in Union cemetery in Gibsonburg.
Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.

Patricia Ann Wall
Daughter of Tiffin resident
Patricia Ann Wall, 71, of Findlay, died at 8 p.m. Monday, July 9, 2001, at Winebrenner Health Care Center.
She was born in Tiffin on May 23, 1930, to John R. and Mary Alice (Mathias) O'Connell. Her mother survives in Tiffin and her father is deceased. On June 16, 1951, she married
Robert F. Wall and he survives.
Survivors also include: two daughters, Mrs. William (Linda) Moser and Bonnie Wall, both of Findlay; a brother, Timothy J. O'Connell of Lakeside-Marblehead; a sister, Sally J. O'Connell of Toledo; and two grandchildren.
Deceased is an infant daughter, Mary Jane.
Mrs. Wall was a graduate of Tiffin Calvert H.S. and attended B.G.S.U. She worked for Patterson's Dept. Store and was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church and was active in several ministries including common distributor for homebound and hospital residents.
She sang in the funeral choir and was active in the YMCA and its Bridge League, and played bridge at the Senior Center. She was a long-time member of BVRHC Auxiliary as a greeter, C.D.S. Admissions helper, Nearly New Shop and Snack Cart Distributor, and a member of the Child Conservation League and American Cancer Society, Heartbeat of Hancock County, a former member of the Findlay Art League, a former Camp Fire and Girl Scout Leader. She loved to travel with her husband, having visited all 50 states and 78 countries.
Services will take place at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Michael Catholic Church-East with the Rev. Mike Hohenbrink officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today, at the Kirkpatrick-Behnke Funeral Home in Findlay.

Kenneth C. Saul
American Electric Power retiree
Kenneth C. Saul, 85, of 175 St. Francis Ave. in Tiffin and formerly of Bloomville, died Monday, July 9, 2001, in the emergency room of Tiffin Mercy Hospital after a sudden illness.
On Nov. 17, 1915, he was born in Bloomville, to Arthur and Zelpha (Cooley) Saul. On Nov. 25, 1948, he married
Margret Schoenegge in Sandusky, and she survives.
Also surviving are: a son, Kenneth Saul of Carey; a sister, Marjorie Wertz of Tiffin; a grandson, and stepmother, Mrs. Margaret Saul of Ottawa.
Mr. Saul was a supervisor in the meter department for American Electric Power in Bucyrus and Tiffin for 35 years, and retired in 1980.
He was a WW II Army veteran, a life member of American Legion Caufield Post 434 in Bloomville and the American Electric Power Veterans Association.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, at the Lindsey-Olds Funeral Home in Bloomville, with the Rev. Buck Traylor of the Ridge Chapel Nazarene Church in Carey, officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn cemetery in Bloomville, with the United Veterans Service Council conducting military graveside services.
Visitation is 6-9 p.m. today, at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Harry Lee Kellogg
American Standard Inc. employee
Harry Lee Kellogg, 39, of Fremont, died Monday, July 9, 2001, in Medical College of Ohio, from injuries sustained from a motorcycle accident.
He was born Nov. 24, 1961 in Fremont, to Dean R. and Carolyn (Boatman) Kellogg. He is deceased and she survives. On Oct. 14, 1995, at St. John's Lutheran Church, he married
Julie A. Bloom, and she survives.
Survivors also include: a son, Dean Kellogg at home, and a sister, Lynn Calmes of Fremont.
Deceased include: an infant daughter, Elizabeth, and two brothers, James D. and Scott R. Kellogg.
Mr. Kellogg was employed as a laborer for 6-1/2 years at American Standard, Inc., in Tiffin. He served in the U.S. Marines, where he received the Rifle Sharpshooter Badge, Good Conduct Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, his 2nd Pistol Expert Badge, and Meritorious Mast and Letter of Appreciation.
He was a 1980 graduate of Fremont Ross High School and enjoyed woodworking, outdoor grilling and camping.
Services will take place at 10 a.m. Friday, at St. John Lutheran Church in Fremont with the Rev. Robert Quillen officiating. A military graveside service will be provided by the V.F.W. and the American Legion at Smith cemetery in Bettsville.
Visitation is one hour prior to services, Friday, at the church.
Memorials may be made to the family.

George H. Gill
Clyde resident
George H. Gill, 90, of Clyde, died Monday, July 9, 2001, at Elmwood Assisted Living in Fremont.
He was born March 5, 1911 in Seneca County, to Thomas M. and Mary VeDella (Holtz) Gill Huddle.
On Oct. 23, 1930, he married
Helen M. Burdette, and she survives.
Survivors also include two sons, Donald R. Gill of Bunnell, Fla., and Ernest Gill of Clyde; and two daughters, Mrs. Roy (Lois) Farmer of Selma, Ala., and Mrs.Ted (Sherry) Boyer of Green Springs; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.
Deceased include: two brothers, A.R. and Frederick Gill, and a grandson, David.
Mr. Gill attended Bloom Township Seneca County schools, worked as a carpenter until 1961, and worked as an assembler at Whirlpool Corp until 1976. He was a member of Senior Citizens and Vacationland Travelers.
Services will take place 11 a.m., Thursday, at the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home in Clyde, with the Rev. Rodney Shaull officiating. Interment will be in McPherson cemetery.
Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Sandusky County Hospice.
Joanne M. Steinmetz
Willard resident
Joanne M. Steinmetz, 74, of Willard, died Monday, July 9, 2001, at the St. Vincent Mercy Hospital in Toledo.
She was born April 21, 1927, in North Auburn, Ohio, to Clem and Eleanor (Schreiner) Steinmetz, and both are deceased.
Surviving include: two brothers, Neil and Robert Steinmetz of Willard; five sisters, Germaine Stevens of New Haven, Holly Helen Beamer of Bellevue, Irene Hershiser of Willard, Esther Postema and Mary Gross, both of Shelby.
Deceased include: two brothers, George and Donald Steinmetz; and a sister, Shirley Hay.
A funeral mass will take place at 10 a.m. Friday, at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Willard, with Fr. Melvin Verhoff officiating. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Catholic cemetery in Willard.
Visitation is 6-9 p.m. Thursday at the Secor Funeral Home in Willard with a prayer service at 8:45 p.m.
Memorials may be made to St. Francis Xavier School Endowment Fund.
Thelma D. Hahn
Retired Bush Chevrolet Accountant
Thelma D. Hahn, 96, of Fremont, died at 5 p.m. Tuesday, July 10, 2001, in Fremont.
She was born in Bettsville Feb. 22, 1905, to Myrle and Mary (Shertzer) Swickard. On Oct. 23, 1930, she married
Andre Hahn in Toledo. He died Aug. 25, 1981.
Survivors include three sisters, Geraldine Yoakum and Betty Ash, both of Fostoria, and Joanne Phillips of Bettsville.
A brother, Willis Swickard is deceased.
Mrs. Hahn attended Bettsville schools and graduated from Tiffin Columbian H.S. She retired as an accountant from Bush Chevrolet in Tiffin. She was a member of Bettsville United Methodist Church and attended Nazarene Church in Fremont.
Services will be private and there will be no visitation.
Turner-Engle Funeral Home in Bettsville is handling arrangements.

William J. Reiter
Betty Jane Center retiree
William J. Reiter, 59, of Upper Sandusky, died at 8 a.m. Wednesday, July 11, 2001, at Riverside Hospital in Columbus.
He was born in Carey, Feb. 11, 1942, to Joseph and Marguerite M. (Ritter) Reiter. Both are deceased.
Surviving include a son, Paul Jeff Reiter of Tiffin, and a brother, John Reiter of Upper Sandusky.
Mr. Reiter was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church in Fostoria and retired from Betty Jane Center in Tiffin. He was an avid golfer, loved sports, and was a Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Peter's cemetery in Upper Sandusky, with Fr. James Holmer officiating.
Visitation is one hour prior to services, Friday, at the Bringman-Clark and Co. Funeral Home in Upper.

Donald L. Saxton
Fostoria resident
Donald L. Saxton, 83, of Fostoria, died at 3:14 p.m. Wednesday, July 11, 2001 at his residence.
He was born in West Jefferson, to Lewis H. and Louise (Burch) Saxton, both are deceased. On July 3, 1937, in Tiffin, he married
Thelma M. Hoover, and she survives in Fostoria.
Surviving also include: a son, Gary D. Saxton of Tiffin; a daughter, Sharon L. Saxton of Fostoria; a brother, Ray Saxton of Tiffin; and three grandchildren.
Deceased include two sons, Gerald L. and David L. Saxton; two brothers, John and Harvey Saxton; and three sisters, Edith Carles, Myrtle Wilkins, and Virginia Saxton.
Mr. Saxton retired in 1980 as a truck driver with Central Transport in Tiffin. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WW II and a member of the Fostoria C.B. Club.
Services will take place at 10 a.m., Saturday, at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home in Fostoria, with the Rev. Terry McBeath officiating. Burial will be in Seneca Memory Gardens in Tiffin.
Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home.

Samuel L. Schubert
Heidelberg Hall of Fame Inductee
Samuel "Sam" L. Schubert, 60, of Bellevue, died Wednesday, July 11, 2001, in Bellevue Hospital.
He was born July 1, 1941, in Alvada, to Carl W. and Helen M. (Martin) Schubert of Alvada. He is deceased and she survives. On July 6, 1063 in the Reformed U.C.C. in Bascom, he married
Carol E. Sours and she survives.
Survivors also include: two sons, Brian L. Schubert of Bellevue and Bradley S. Schubert of Avon, Ohio; and two brothers, Robert C. Schubert of Bismark, N.D., and Edwin R. Schubert of Sparta, N.J.
Mr Schubert was a member and deacon of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Bellevue. He chaired the property committee of the church and played on the church dart ball team, and was a self-employed painting contractor.
He graduated in 1959 from Hopewell Loudon High School in Bascom and in 1963, he graduated from Heidelberg College with a Liberal Arts Degree.
He was a four year member of the Student Princes Basketball Team, and was co-captain during the all-Ohio Athletic Conference second team selection. He was also a standout player on the Heidelberg Baseball team. He later earned his Master's Degree at B.G.S.U.
He taught science and coached basketball at Anthony Wayne School System in White House. In 1964, in the Bellevue School System, he taught science, was a guidance counselor, was a JV and Varsity basketball coach, athletic director, and was active in the Bellevue H.S. boosters.
In 1989, he was inducted into the Heidelberg College Hall of Fame and served on its committee. Services will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, in Bellevue, with the Rev. Marvin W. Rettig officiating. Burial will be in Bellevue cemetery.
Visitation is 1-9 p.m. Friday at Harris Funeral Home, 289 W. Main St. in Bellevue.
Memorials may be made to St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Bellevue, The Sam Schubert Memorial Fund in care of Firelands Federal Credit Union in Bellevue, or to the Bellevue City Schools designated by his family.
Lothar M. Meyer
Basic, Inc. retiree
Lothar M. Meyer, 62, of 1548 S. SR 53, Trailer #12, died at 3:59 p.m. Thursday, July 12, 2001, in the emergency room in Mercy Hospital of Tiffin.
Mr. Meyer was born in Berlin, Germany, Dec. 2, 1938, to Ewald and Erna Meyer who are deceased. He married
Marlene Shere Dec. 21, 1963, in Republic and she survives.
Other survivors include: three sons, Kenneth Lee, Dean Allen both of Toledo, and Jerry Craig of Tiffin; a daughter, Mrs. Eugene (Crystal) Steel of Tiffin; 11 grandchildren; two brothers, Velna and Greta of Berlin, Germany; and two sisters, Vera, Gertie Kerschner, both of Alabama.
A son, Mark Menfer, also is deceased.
He graduated from high school in Berlin, Germany and came to the United States as a young man, spending most of his life in the Tiffin area. He retired as working in tow motors at Basic, Inc.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday in the Turner-Engle Funeral home with Bruce A. Eckhart of the Salvation Army officiating. Burial will be in Knoll-Crest cemetery, Arcadia.
Visitation is two hours prior to the service in the funeral home.
