Betty A. Walton
Upper Sandusky resident

Betty A. Walton, 56, of 271 Duck Pond Road, Upper Sandusky, died at 4 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 9, 2001. She was born Aug. 15, 1944 to the late Russell D. Newell and Martha J. (Gottfried) Newell, who survives in Upper Sandusky. On March 29, 1964 she married Allen L. Walton. He died July 26, 1987.

Other survivors include: a son, Nathan N. Walton of Colorado Springs, CO; two daughters, Mrs. Alison L. Cheney of Upper Sandusky and Mrs. Tiffany A. Kern of Findlay; a brother, Ronald Newell of Upper Sandusky; two sisters, Beverly S. Batton and Mrs. Bonnie J. Menningen, both of Upper Sandusky; and four grandchildren.

Mrs. Walton was a 1962 graduate of Upper Sandusky High School. A homemaker, co-owned and operated with her husband The Country Shop from 1978 to 1987, helped on family farm and worked at Fine Furniture Gallery in Upper Sandusky from 1990 to 1994. A member of Little Sandusky Bible Church, Little Sandusky, a former Sunday school teacher, organist for 21 years and an avid Ohio State University and Cleveland Indians fan.

The private graveside funeral service will be held at Union United Methodist Church cemetery in Upper Sandusky.

Visitation hours are from 4-8 p.m. Saturday at the Bringman-Clark and Co. Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky. Funeral arrangements being handled by the Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home of Carey.

Memorials may be made to Little Sandusky Bible Church and/or Hospice of Wyandot County c/o the funeral home.

Richard Marc Heimlich
Former Attica resident

Richard Marc Heimlich, 46, of 201 Barnhart St., Marion, died on Wednesday August 8, 2001 at Marion General Hospital. He was born on Nov. 7, 1954 to Richard E. and Fannie W. Heimlich of Attica, and they survive.

Other survivors include: three brothers, Joseph E. Heimlich of Columbus, Wesley H. Heimlich of Miami, Fla., and Clifford R. Heimlich of Tiro; a sister, Maria E. (Lawrence) Stampahar of Pittsburgh, PA.; six nieces and nephews; 10 aunts and uncles; numerous cousins and a great uncle, Melvin Lehner.

Mr. Heimlich was a 1973 graduate of Seneca East High School in Attica, he received his associate degree in data processing from MTC and worked for Southland Mall.

The funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Denzer-Farison-Hattinger Funeral Home, 360 East Center St., Marion. Burial will be at Glendale Union cemetery in Cardington.

Visitation hours are from 4-8 p.m., tonight, at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Lion's International Sight First and/or The Salvation Army.

Ora L. Eyer
Retired General Electric Foreman

Ora L. Eyer, 84, of 308 S. Pennington Street, Sycamore, died at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2001 at Wyandot Manor Nursing Home, Upper Sandusky. He was born July 11, 1917 in Bucyrus to Roy J. and Grace M. (Miller) Eyer. On June 5, 1943 he married Evelyn Hushour, and she survives.

Other survivors include: three sons, Richard O. Eyer of Sandusky, Thomas E. Eyer of Johnstown and Duane E. Eyer of Bucyrus; a daughter, Mrs. Janie Benson of RR# Nevada; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

DeceaSED include: two brothers; four half-brothers; and a half-sister.

Mr. Eyer was a 1935 graduate of Melmore High School. A U.S. Army Veteran serving during WW II. He retired as general foreman of operations from General Electric of Tiffin after 33 years, he also worked as a farmer. His memberships included: 50 year member Melmore United Methodist Church; 50 year member Enterprise Lodge 579 F&AM, Sycamore and past master of the lodge; 32nd Degree Scottish Rite, Valley of Toledo; Toledo Zenobia Shrine; Tiffin Shrine; charter member Bonita Springs Florida Shrine Club; Bonita Springs 12 Noble Travelers; Sycamore American Legion post 250; Mohawk Historical Society; Stockbuster II Stock Club; General Electric Quarter Century Club; Past president United Electrical Union, Tiffin; past president and board member Lykens School Board. He was an avid fisherman, loved playing cards and pitching horseshoes.

The Rev. Howard Huston will officiate the 11 am. Saturday funeral service at the Melmore United Methodist Church. Burial will be at Pleasant View cemetery in Sycamore.

Visitation hours are from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., tonight, at the Walton-Moore Funeral Home in Sycamore. Masonic Services are at 8:45 p.m., tonight at the funeral home. Military Graveside service conducted by Sycamore American Legion Post 250.

Memorials may be made to Shriners Children's Hospital and/or Enterprise Lodge 579 F&AM Sycamore Temple Fund.

Brian A. DeRan
Former Tiffin residents' son

Word has been received of the death of Brian A. DeRan, 19, of Lorraine Avenue, Bowling Green, who died Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2001, as a result of injuries sustained in an auto accident.

He was born Feb. 4, 1982, to Dennis and Tracy (Wigg) DeRan in Bowling Green, and they survive along with a brother, Brandon; a sister, Taylor; and grandparents, Marjorie DeRan of Toledo and Philip and Betty Wigg of Bowling Green.

Deceased is his paternal grandfather, Robert C. DeRan.

A 2000 graduate from Bowling Green High School, he attended Owens Community College; participated in both Bowling Green Youth Hockey and Sylvania Metro Hockey leagues; and worked for Todd Messenger Contracting Co.

Funeral service were Aug. 10, at the Dunn Funeral Home, Bowling Green and burial was in Oak Grove cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Leo H. Weis
Attica area mechanic

Leo H. Weis, 64, of Attica died Friday, Aug. 10, 2001, at his residence.

Mr. Weis was born Aug. 3, 1937, in Willard to Leo H. Sr. and Clara (Swint) Weis. He married Mary E. Setzler May 9, 1964, and she survives.

Also surviving are: a son, Gary L. of Attica; a daughter, Rhonda Hayes of Bellevue; five grandchildren; and a sister, Ruth Ann Bumb of Willard.

Deceased include: his parents; two brothers, Norbert and Robert Weis; and three sisters, Rosemary Schletterer, Eva Morman, and Gertrude Hay.

He worked as a mechanic for Clay Distributing and Beck Suppliers in Attica and surrounding areas; also worked for Roth Sohio in Willard; a member of the Reed Assumption Catholic Church in Bellevue and the Attica Fraternal Order of Eagles.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Reed Assumption Catholic Church, Bellevue, with the Rev. John M. Nagele officiating. Burial will be in Reed Assumption Catholic cemetery.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday in the Foos-Lindsey-Kocher Funeral Home, Attica, with a Rosary conducted at 8:30 p.m.

Memorials may be made to: Reed Assumption Catholic Church; or to Stein Hospice, 182 St. Francis Ave., Rear Suite, Tiffin; or to American Cancer Society, 1045 N. Main, Unit B, Bowling Green, OH 43402-0047.

Ralph Hawkins
Former Tiffin resident

Ralph Hawkins 55, of Pearl St., Shiloh, died Thursday, Aug. 9, 2001, at James Cancer Center in Columbus.

He was born Sept. 18, 1945, in Tiffin to Vernon and Mary Hawkins who are deceased.

Survivors include: his wife, Lois, of 36 years; step mother, Geneva Hawkins of Bettsville; three sons, Richard Hawkins of Ashburn, Va., Steven Hawkins of Linden, N.J., and Michael Hawkins of Hamilton; two grandchildren; and a step-brother, Ronald Bland of Tiffin.

Deceased include a brother, David Hawkins; and a step-brother, Robert Bland.

Mr. Hawkins worked for the Sprint Telephone Co. in Mansfield; was a member of the I.B.E.W. Union Local 688 in Mansfield; and a former member of the Cass Bloomingrove Fire Department in Shiloh.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Secor Funeral Home, Plymouth.

Calling hours are 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Cass Bloomingrove Fire Department in Shiloh.

R. Kent Wellman
Tiffin resident's grandson

R. Kent Wellman, 39, of Norwalk died unexpectedly Thursday, Aug. 9, 2001, in Chicago of a sudden illness.

Mr. Wellman was born April 6, 1962, in Ypsilanti, Mich., to Ronald P. and Peggy L. Wellman, who survive.

Other survivors include: his wife, Ruth Cannon, of 12 years; two daughters, Theresa L. and Casey M., both at home; his paternal grandmother, Evelyn Wellman of Tiffin; two brothers, Steve of Rossford, and Brian of Pittman, N.J.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He had been driving truck for Norwalk Furniture for eight years; a member of the West Hartland United Methodist Church, the Huron County Humane Society, and Eagles Aerie 711; a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Germany; and enjoyed sports and watching his children's sporting events and spending time with his family and friends, watching movies and golf.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Walker Funeral Home, Norwalk, with the Rev. Carl Fannin officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn cemetery.

Visitation will be 2-6 p.m. Sunday and 7-9 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Wellman Family.

Roselene Elizabeth Klickman
Clyde resident

Roselene Elizabeth "Rosie" Klickman, 80, of Limerick Road, Clyde, died Friday, Aug. 10, 2001, in St. Francis Skilled Care of Green Springs.

She was born July 25, 1921, in Bradner to Milo Gregg and Sarah Elizabeth (Bell) Keller. She married A.E. "Bud" Klickman July 14, 1945. He died April 11, 1997.

Survivors include: a son, Calvin C. of Lima; a daughter, Christine E. Klickman of Clyde; and a grandson, Ryan Klickman of Lima.

She was a 1939 graduate of Fremont Ross High School; a waitress at Ess's Restaurant and Country Inn, both in Clyde; and a member of the First United Methodist Church, Clyde.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Bakertown cemetery, Clyde, with the Rev. John Hill officiating.

There will be private visitation.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church Endowment Fund or to Sandusky County Hospice, Fremont.

The Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, Clyde, is in charge of the arrangements.

Rachael A. Coe
Fostoria resident

Rachael A. Coe, 83, of Fostoria, died at 7:25 p.m., Friday, Aug. 10, 2001, at Independence House, Fostoria.

Arrangements are pending at Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria.

Carol S. Kraylek
Fostoria High School retiree

Carol S. Kraylek, 58, of 637 Maple St., died at 8:55 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 12, 2001 at her residence.

She was born Oct. 20, 1942 in Fostoria, to Robert and Hazel M. (Hopkins) Clark, and both are deceased. She married Robert Thompson and he died in 1980. She then married Jim C. Kraylek on Dec. 28, 1990 in Fostoria, and he survives in Fostoria.

Survivors also include: a son, Steven R. Thompson of Dallas, Texas; two daughters, Mrs. Leroy (Laura) Rega of Dallas, Texas, Mrs. Robin (Lisa) Hughes of Middleville, Mich., a step-daughter, Mrs. James (Lisa) Siebenaller of Fostoria; a sister, Myrtle Mason of Troy; and nine grandchildren.

Mrs. Kraylek was a Custodian at Fostoria High School and retired in 1995. She was a graduate of Fremont Ross High School.

Services will be 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Mann-Hare Funeral Home in Fostoria.

Visitation is 2-4 and 6-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, prior to services, at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the family in care of the funeral home, P. O. Box 47, Fostoria, Ohio 44830.

Helen M. Sullivan
Tiffin resident

Helen M. Sullivan, 89, of 255 E. Perry St., formerly of 28 Tiffin St., died Saturday, Aug. 11, 2001, at her home.

She was born July 21, 1912, in Kansas, Ohio to the late Earl and Stella (Myers) Kisabeth. She married Ephrion Sullivan on Sept. 21, 1931 in New Port, Ky. He preceded her in death Jan. 15, 1967.

Survivors include: two daughters, Mrs. Gene (Janice Kay) Hill of Tiffin, and Mrs. Joe (Bonnie L.) Lee of Ellenton, Fla., and a sister, Evelyn Swartzmiller of Bettsville.

Preceding her in death included an infant daughter.

Mrs. Sullivan attended Jackson Burgoon High School.

Graveside services will take place at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Pleasant Union cemetery in Old Fort, with the Rev. David Mills officiating.

There will be no visitation.

Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church, 2016 S. CR 19, Tiffin, Ohio 44883.

Hoffmann Gottfried Funeral Home is in charge of services.

Charles H. Bower
State of Ohio retiree

Charles H. Bower, 85, of Upper Sandusky, died at 4:14 p.m. Sat. Aug. 11, 2001 in St. Vincent Hospital in Toledo.

He was born Oct. 20, 1915 in Marseilles Township, Wyandot County, Ohio, to the late Marion C. and Minnie E. (Lamb) Bower. He married Helen I. Berg on Sept. 16, 1945 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Upper Sandusky and she survives.

Survivors also include: a son, Don E. Bower of Republic; a daughter, Mrs. Win (Carolyn) Cummings of Saratoga, Calif., three brothers, Harold Bower of Upper Sandusky, Richard Bower of Forest, and Robert Bower of Marion; two grandsons, and one great-grandson.

Preceding him in death also include: a brother, Raymond and sisters, Eleanor Newell and Olive Moser.

Mr. Bower was a Marseilles Township farmer and was employed by the Ohio State Highway Department. He retired as Manager of the Ohio State Liquor Store(s) in Upper Sandusky and Findlay. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Upper Sandusky and its Fellowship Class; was a life member of American Legion Post 225, VFW Post 2842, Charter member of Moose Lodge 1093, past member of BPOE 83 and a member of Lions Club, all in Upper Sandusky; a life member of Disabled American Veterans in Findlay, a member of Wyandot County Rod and Gun Club, a charter member of Ducks Unlimited, a past Cub Scout Leader, and past Girl Scout Camp Leader.

He was honorably discharged as as an Army Scout in World War II, having served from Sept. 10, 1943 - Nov. 18, 1945 in the 7th Infantry, 3rd Division. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart, the American Theatre Ribbon, the European African Middle Eastern Theatre Ribbon with four bronze campaign stars, the Good Medal Combat Medallion, the Victory Ribbon, and the Combat Infantry Badge.

Mr. Bower was involved in several bowling leagues, enjoyed fishing, boating, hunting and trapping.

Services will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Upper Sandusky. The Rev. Jerry Elsholz will be the officiant. Burial will be in Old Mission cemetery in Upper Sandusky.

Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Bringman-Clark and Co. Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky, and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church; Wyandot County Rod and Gun Club; and/or a charity of the donor's choice in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 246, Upper Sandusky, Ohio 43351.
