Norbert J. Gosche
Tiffin Machine and Auto Parts retiree

Norbert Joseph Gosche, 78, of 545 W. Market St., died Monday, Aug. 13, 2001 in the Ruffing Family Care Center of Tiffin where he had been a resident for a month.

He was born Dec. 23, 1922 in New Riegel to Claude and Eleanor (Wetzel) Gosche and they preceded him in death. He married Jean C. Weisenberger June 29, 1946 in St. Mary Catholic Church in Tiffin and she survives.

Survivors also include: two daughters, Mrs. Joseph (Judy) Lonsway of Tiffin, and Mrs. Timothy (Janet) Opsitnick of Avon, Ohio; a brother, Cyril G. Gosche of New Riegel; a sister, Mrs. Bernard (Agnes) Thiel of Marion; and seven grandchildren.

Preceding him in death included two brothers, Hubert and Carl Gosche.

Mr. Gosche was a 1941 graduate of New Riegel High School and he served in the U. S. Army from 1943-1946 during World War II. He retired in 1978 as parts manager/salesman for Tiffin Machine and Auto Parts, having been employed for 30 years; and he worked part time at Buckeye and Cardinal Auto Parts in Tiffin.

He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Tiffin; and a member and past president of Catholic Knights of Ohio New Riegel Branch 52; a member of the Holy Family Society of USA; Loyal Order of the New Riegel Moose; and New Riegel American Legion Post 354.

A Mass will take place at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Tiffin, with the Rev. Frank Murd officiating. A rosary will be recited at 9:45 a.m. Military graveside services will be conducted by the New Riegel American Legion Post 354 Members in the parish cemetery.

Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home, where the Catholic Knights of Ohio will conduct a service at 7:30 p.m., and a wake service will begin at 7:45 p.m.

Memorials may be made to Mercy Hospital Intensive Care Unit, New Riegel Catholic Knights of Ohio Branch 52, or a charity of the donor's choice.

Irene K. McQuiston
Lifetime Bascom resident

Irene Kathryn McQuiston, 90, formerly of 5600 W. SR 18, died Sunday, Aug. 12, 2001 at Seneca House in Tiffin.

She was born May 15, 1911 in Fort Seneca, to the late Ervin and Nora (Shiley) Whitman. She married E. Wilbur McQuiston on May 20, 1939 in Findlay. He preceded her in death.

Survivors include: three sons, Clifford E. of Tiffin, Larry of Fremont, and Steven W. of Davenport, Iowa; a daughter, Patricia Butturff of Tiffin; two brothers, Emery and Kenneth Whitman, of Tiffin; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Mrs. McQuiston was a member of Bascom United Methodist Church.

Graveside services will take place at 10 a.m. Thursday at Seneca Memory Gardens. The Rev. Scott Hayward will be the officiant.

There will be no visitations.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Turner-Engle Funeral Home in Tiffin is in charge of arrangements.

Richard E. Runion I
Alvada resident

Richard E. "Boone" Runion I, 52, of 3027 SR 23, Alvada, died at 5:50 a.m. Monday, Aug. 13, 2001 at his residence in Alvada.

He was born Nov. 28, 1948 in Tiffin to the late Everett D. and Alice E. (Long) Runion. He married Jane Runion and later divorced. She survives.

Survivors also include: a son, Richard E. Runion II of New Riegel; a daughter, Lisa Ann Runion of Tiffin; three brothers, Robert E. Runion of Tiffin, Dale Duffey of Ada, and Glen Duffey of Indiana; five sisters, Mrs. Charles (Joyce) Moyer, Mrs. James (Ruth) Hurt and Mrs. Charles (Martha) Smith, all of Tiffin, Shirley Freeze of Green Springs, and Mrs. Frances Feasel of Ohio; and five grandchildren.

Preceding him in death include a daughter, Alicia Runion; two brothers, Virgil and Harry Duffey; and a granddaughter.

Mr. Runion was employed at Farmland Foods in New Riegel and was a member of Sons of the American Legion, and United Food Workers Local 911.

Services will take place at 10 a.m. Thursday at Turner-Engle Funeral Home in Tiffin, with the Rev. Wendell Shepherd officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge cemetery.

Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Troy Moore
Junior Home Kid

Word has been received that Troy Moore, 77, of Rogers, Ark., died April 23, 2001, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rogers, Arkansas.

He was born June 11, 1923, in Old Fort, N. C., to James O. and Mamie (Beech) Moore.

Survivors include: a son, Jerome Moore of Rogers, Ark., three brothers, George Moore of Long Beach, Calif., Eugene Moore of Tiffin, and Benny Moore of Nebo, N. C.

Mr. Moore was a Master Sergeant in the U. S. Air Force for 25 years prior to his retirement. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Mulvane, Kan., and he enjoyed woodworking.

Graveside services took place April 27, 2001 at Rogers cemetery in Arkansas.

Robert E. Mitten
Son/brother of Bascom residents

Robert E. Mitten, 59, of St. Johns, Mich., died Saturday, Aug. 11, 2001.

He was born June 12, 1942, in Elyria to Kenneth and Doris (Crabill) Mitten. He married Sally Lewis on Sept. 26, 2994 and she survives.

Survivors also include: his father, Kenneth Mitten of Bascom; three sons, Mike Mitten of Lawrenceville, Ga., Mark Mitten of Marysville, and Jason Hufnagel of St. Johns, Mich., three daughters, Mrs. Michael (Michele) McDaniel of N.C., Mrs. Robert (Angela) Anderson of DeWitt, and Mrs. Mitch (Susan) Deminski of New Albany; two sisters, Mrs. Robert (Jan) Fruth of Lexington, Ky., and Mrs. Roy (Kay) VanBeneren of Bascom; and 12 grandchildren.

His mother, Sally, preceded him in death.

Services will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the

Osgood Funeral Home in St. Johns, Mich.

Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home, 104 East Cass St., St. Johns, Mich.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Joseph C. McDole
Father/brother of Tiffin residents

Joseph C. McDole, 60, of Tulsa, Okla., died Sunday, Aug. 12, 2001.

He was born July 23, 1941 in Tiffin to Willard C. and Martha L. (Gary) McDole. They are deceased. He married Paula Jantzen of Feb. 24, 1988 in Tulsa, Okla., and she survives in Tulsa.

Survivors also include a son, Keith McDole of Fla., four daughters, Charleen at home, Beth and Kathy of Fla., and Eloise Dotson of Tiffin; two brothers, Fred and Richard of Tiffin; four sisters, Patricia Dotson and Sharon Nominee, both of Tiffin; Sandra Golden of Sault St. Marie, Ontario, Canada, and Suzanne McDole of Toledo; two grandsons and a granddaughter.

Preceding him in death is a son, Joseph.

Visitations will be at the Moore Funeral Home in Tulsa, Okla. Wednesday and Thursday of this week.

Harold W. Factor Jr.
Seneca Medical employee

Harold W. Factor, Jr. 52, of 206 W. Jefferson St., Republic, died Monday morning, Aug. 13, 2001 at his home following a sudden illness.

He was born July 18, 1949, in Tiffin, to Harold and Charlotte (Dunn) Factor. He is deceased and she survives in Sycamore. He married Martha Elchert on April 24, 1976 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Republic, and she survives.

Survivors also include: a son, Tony Factor of Republic; two daughters, Mrs. Dwayne (Alicia) Prenzlin of Tiffin and Carolyn Factor of Republic; two sisters, Mrs. Tom (Cindy) Kalinoski of Powell, and Mrs. Ken (Bonnie) Landis of Independence, Ky., and one grandchild.

He was preceded in death by a baby daughter, Pamela Lynn in 1981.

Mr. Factor was a graduate of Tiffin Columbian High School, a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Republic, the Republic Knights of Columbus, a U. S. Army and 20 year Ohio National Guard Veteran, an Auxiliary member of the Bloomville EMS and Fire Department. He was a former member of the Tiffin VFW, Caufield American Legion Post 434 in Bloomville and the Bloomville Lions.

He was employed at Seneca Medical in Tiffin, having worked in the Shipping and Receiving Department of Medical Supplies. He also worked part-time as a clerk at the Tiffin K-Mart.

A mass will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Republic, with the Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating. Military graveside services will be conducted by the United Veterans Council in Woodlawn cemetery in Bloomville.

Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today at the Lindsey-Olds Funeral Home in Bloomville, with a Christian Wake Service at 8:45 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the church, the Polycystic Kidney Disease or to a charity of the donor's choice.

McClelland J. 'M. J.' Brown
Owner/Operator M. J. Brown Company, Inc.

McClelland J. "M. J." Brown, 86, of 3728 S. TR 17 in Tiffin, died at 1:10 a.m. Tuesday, August 14, 2001 at St. Vincent Mercy Hospital in Toledo, where he had been a patient for 23 days.

He was born Oct. 1, 1914 in Whitesburg, Ky., to the late Elihu and Rachel (Tyree) Brown. He married Carol Stine on Feb. 14, 1965 in Ojai, Calif., and she survives.

Survivors include: five sons, Michael L. Brown, Mark A. Brown, Matt G. Brown, and David Brown, all of Tiffin, and James Brown of Oak Ridge, Tenn., 20 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Deceased include: a daughter, Mary Jane Mericka; 10 brothers; and four sisters.

Mr. Brown was the owner/operator of M. J. Brown Company, Inc. for 50 years and the owner/operator of Clinton Mobile Homes for 31 years. He was a member of Melmore United Methodist Church, a lifetime member of the Elks Lodge, and Green Springs Lions Club.

Services will take place at 11 a.m. Friday at Melmore United Methodist Church. The Rev. Howard Huston will be the officiant. Burial will be in Greenlawn cemetery in Tiffin.

Visitation is 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Thursday at Turner-Engle Funeral Home, Tiffin, and one hour prior to Friday's services at the church.

Memorials may be made to Melmore United Methodist Church or Shriners Children Hospital.

Herman B. Comer Sr.
Basic Refractories retiree

Herman B. Comer, Sr., 75, of Veterans Home in Sandusky, died at 5:25 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2001 in the Secrest Care Facility in Sandusky where he had been a patient since July.

He was born April 28, 1926, in South Carolina to the late Thomas F. and Grace (Wooten) Comer. He married Ella Blanche Pollock on April 10, 1946 in New York. She is deceased.

Survivors include: two sons, Herman B. Comer, Jr. and David W. Comer, both of Tiffin; and three daughters, Ethel L. Mathias of Tiffin, Deb Depinet of Tiffin, and Tammi Maners of Rock Hill, S. C.,

a brother, Paul R. Comer of York, S. C., 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Deceased include: six brothers, James E., George, Joseph N. (Neil), Lewis (Ted), and Thomas E. Comer; and three sisters, Louise McSwain, Annie Mae Comer, and Jean Comer Gardner.

Mr. Comer retired from Basic Refractories (Premier Corp.), and was a member of American Legion, Eagles, Amvets, DAV, and was a Junior Home Kid. He was a USS Hornet-U.S. Navy World War II Veteran.

Graveside services will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday at Fairmont cemetery, and will be conducted by members of the United Veterans Council.

There will be no visitations.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Melvin 'Mouse' Overmyer
Western Sugar Company/Fremont retiree

Melvin "Mouse" Overmyer, 80, of Clearwater, Fla., died Aug. 6, 2001 in Florida.

He was born in Lindsey to Hardy and Myrtle Overmyer. He married Lois Magsig and she survives.

Also surviving are: a son, Ken Overmyer, and a daughter Marla McGee; six grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Merton of Fremont, Calvin of Tiffin, and Royce "Dick" of Green Springs.

Deceased include: a daughter, Melva Lohr; a grandchild; three brothers, George, Maurice R. and Galen; and two sisters, Betty Murphy and Lois Stout.

Mr. Overmyer was a veteran of World War II and retired from Great Western Sugar Company in Fremont. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Fremont.

Memorial services will take place at 3 p.m. Thursday at Grace Lutheran Church in Fremont.

Mr. Overmyer was cremated at Golfbreeze Crematory in Clearwater, Fla.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

The Wonderly-Horvath Funeral Home in Fremont is in charge of arrangements.

Shirley Ann Uribe
Upper Sandusky resident

Shirley Ann Uribe, 66, of Upper Sandusky, died at 7:20 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2001 in Wyandot Manor Nursing Home in Upper Sandusky.

She was born July 8, 1935 in Wyandot County, Ohio to the late Walter H. and Sarah A. (Ulrich) Messmer. She married Angel (Poncho) Uribe in 1960 and later divorced. He survives in Marion.

Surviving also include: two sons, Steven J. Messmer of Nevada and Jeffrey Lee Uribe of Camp Fiala, Bosnia and Herzegovina; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three brothers, Earl Messmer of Wharton, Robert Messmer of Marion, and David Messmer of Mid West City, Okla; and two sisters, Alice M. Smith of Ft. Myers, Fla., and Reva Jane Thompson of Marion.

Deceased include brothers, Raymond, Vernon, Paul, Myron, Francis, Richard, and Wayne Messmer; and a sister, Bernice Kirian.

Mrs. Uribe was an Inspector at Black Hawk Automotive in Upper Sandusky for 46 years. She was a member of First Lutheran Church and the Eagles, all in Upper Sandusky. She enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas and enjoyed playing bingo.

Services will take place at 11 a.m. Friday at Bringman-Clark and Co. Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky, with Pastor Julianne Smith officiating. Burial will be in Old Mission cemetery.

Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with an Eagles Memorial at 7:45 p.m.

Memorials may be made Hospice of Wyandot County or a charity of the donor's choice.
