Glennon F. Buxton
Brother of New Riegel resident

Glennon F. Buxton, 90, died at 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2001, in the Sterling House Assisted Living in Oklahoma City, Okla.

Mr. Buxton was born in Oklahoma City on Dec. 23, 1911, and was a life-long resident of Oklahoma.

On Oct. 26, 1940, he married Agnes H. Lonsway in St. Boniface Church, New Riegel. She died April 4, 1999.

He is survived by a brother-in-law, Charles J. Lonsway of New Riegel, and several nephews and nieces.

He was a member of St. Patricks Catholic Church where a wake service was conducted Thursday evening. There was a funeral mass Thursday morning at the church celebrated by the Rev. Moore with interment in the Parish cemetery.

Funeral arrangements were under the supervision of Smith and Kernke Family, Oklahoma.

Bernadette M. Fox
1938 class valedictorian

Bernadette M. Fox, 81, of 22 Clinton St., Bloomville, and formerly of Tiffin, died Thursday, Aug. 23, 2001, in Ruffing Family Care Center, Bloomville.

She was born Nov. 30, 1919, in Hopewell Township to Frank G. and Clara M. (Walliser) Fox. She never married .

Survivors include: three brothers, Martin of Monroe, La., Leo of Attica, and Leonard of Cincinnati; and two sisters, Mrs. John (Helen) Roth of Republic, and Mrs. Edwin (Joan) Rose of Spokane, Wash.

Three brothers, Edmund and two infant brothers; and a sister, Mary Dorothy Miller, preceded her in death.

She was a 1938 Columbian High School graduate, class valedictorian and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Monday in St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. James K. Say officiating. Entombment will be in St. Joseph Mausoleum.

Visitation will be 9:30-11 a.m. Monday in the church with the Rosary recited at 10:45 a.m.

Memorials may be made to the Ruffing Family Care Center of Bloomville or to a charity of the donor's choice.

The Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Margaret T. Nemeth
Retired administrative assistant

Margaret T. Nemeth, 83, of 8051 Bay Branch Drive, The Woodlands, Texas, and formerly of Siesta Drive, died Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2001, in the Methodist Diagnostic Hospital, Houston, Texas.

She was born Feb. 8, 1918, in Cleveland to Frank and Matilda (Schablauer) Trestyen. She married Frank L. Nemeth on Feb. 8, 1942, in Cleveland, and he died Aug. 22, 1995.

Two sons, Gary and Gerry, of The Woodlands, Texas, survive.

Mrs. Nemeth was a 1940 graduate of Penn College in Cleveland; retired from Mutual of New York in 1972 as administrative assistant to Robert McDonald in the Tiffin office; and was a member of Old Trinity Episcopal Church and the Altar Guild.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the Old Trinity Episcopal Church with the Rev. John Trumble officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross cemetery, Brook Park.

Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Sunday in the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Community Hospice Care or Old Trinity Episcopal Church.

Dale K. Barbour
Retired farmer

Dale K. Barbour, 85, of Barbour Road, Fostoria, died at 7:45 a.m. Friday, Aug. 24, 2001, at Independence House, Fostoria.

He was born Nov. 2, 1915, in Fostoria to Walter and Bertha (Girton) Barbour. He married Alma C. Frankart in Fostoria Oct. 26, 1939, and she survives in Fostoria.

Other survivors include: a son, Gary of Fostoria; a daughter, Mrs. Marshal (Jane) Burns of Fostoria; two grandchildren; and a brother, Carl of Fostoria.

He was preceded in death by: a son, John; two brothers, Harold and Ralph; and two sisters, Hilda Barbour and Mrs. Hubert (Gaynell) Dalton.

Being a self-employed farmer all his life, he retired in 1970.

There will be no visitation or services.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria.

Blanche Shultz
Fostoria homemaker

Blanche Shultz, 89, of East Sixth Street, Fostoria, died Thursday morning, Aug. 23, 2001, at her residence.

She was born Dec. 2, 1911, in Weston to Gordon and Rosa (Herringshaw) Heinsman. She married Alfred Shultz June 21, 1939, in Toledo, and he died May 25, 1964.

Survivors include: a son, Layton of Fostoria; a brother, Ray Heinsman of Ocala, Fla.; and two sisters, Julie Graves of Atlanta, Ga., and Loreen Hill of Kingston, Tenn.

She was also preceded in death by: two sons, Gary and Terry; and a daughter, Linda Shultz.

Mrs. Shultz was a 1929 graduate of Weston High School and a homemaker.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria. Burial will be in Fountain cemetery, Fostoria.

Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Doyle A. Baker
Retired truck driver

Doyle A. Baker, 71, of 1311 Stratford Lane, Fostoria, died at 2:32 p.m., Friday, Aug. 24, 2001, in Fremont Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Baker was born in Bettsville to Forrest L. and Gladys (Feasel) Baker. He married Carolyn J. Frankart June 2, 1951, in St. Wendelin Catholic Church and she survives in Fostoria.

Other survivors include: seven sons, John and Charles of Findlay, Robert, Michael, Mark, Brian and Thomas, all of Fostoria; two daughters, Mrs. Bo (Jeanne) Risner of Findlay, and Mrs. Timothy (Louanne) Grine of Fostoria; 26 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Forrest Donald of Burgoon; and a sister, Mrs. Kenneth (Evelyn) Butzier of Kansas.

A 1947 graduate of Jackson Liberty High School, he was a U.S. Navy veteran; and retired in 1989 as a trucker driver after 38 years with BOC Airco, Sentle and Craun Transportation. Memberships included: St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus 1197 Third Degree, American Legion Post 71 and Fostoria United Sportsmen.

The Rosary will be recited at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Wendelin Catholic Church followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in St. Wendelin Parish cemetery.

Visitation is 2-5 and 6-9 p.m. Sunday in the Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria, where Christian Wake services will be conducted at 8:30 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the St. Wendelin Schools Educational Foundation, 222 N. Wood St., Fostoria, OH 44830.

John W. Adkins
Upper Sandusky resident

John W. Adkins, 62, of 452 W. Fairview St., Upper Sandusky, died at 1:35 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24, 2001, at his residence.

He was born March 15, 1939, in Grimms Landing, W.Va., to Elmo D. and Mary A. (Douglas) Adkins.

He married Mary M. Matheny July 4, 1959, in Point Pleasant, W.Va., and she survives along with: his mother of Grimms Landing, W.Va.; two sons, Steven D. and Elben "Elrod" D., both of Upper Sandusky; a daughter, Mrs. Rick (Jane) Wood of Upper Sandusky; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Dean of LaRue, and Benny Joe of St. Augustine, Fla.; and five sisters, Minnie Jeffers of Pt. Pleasant, W.Va., Gertrude "Sue" Sullenberger of Fostoria, Helen Bowers, Brenda Tucker and Wanda Flemmings, all of Grimms Landing, W.Va.

Preceding him in death were: his father; a grandson, Spencer; a brother, Mack; and a sister, Elizabeth.

Mr. Adkins served in the U.S. Navy. He was a past employee of Tecumseh Products, Marion, and retired from the New Ezy-Gro Co., Carey. He was of the Protestant faith and was a life member of AMVETS 777, a member of the Moose Lodge 1093, a past member of the American Legion 225 of Upper Sandusky, and a past member of the Dads of Foreign Wars of Upper Sandusky.

Graveside service will be at noon Tuesday in the Oma Chapel of the Tucker cemetery, Grimms Landing, W.Va.

Visitation is 1-3 and 5-7 p.m. Monday at the Bringman Clark and Co. Funeral Home, Upper Sandusky.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Wyandot County.

Earl Walter
Carey resident

Earl E. Walter, 89, of Carey, died at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 24, 2001 in Heartland of Browning Care Center in Waterville.

He was born July 23, 1912 in Wyandot County to the late Fred E. and Sylvia E. (Gault) Walter. He married Florine Fruth May 19, 1936 and she died June 19, 1971. He later married G. Ruthanna Plott-Gault on May 10, 1972 and she died Oct. 20, 1996.

Survivors include three sons, Ray Walter of Glendale, Ariz., Darrel Walter of Mt. Blanchard, Ohio and Claren Walter of Findlay; two daughters, Mrs. Paul (Faye) May of Carey, and Mrs. Elizabeth Gault of Findlay; 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 7 step-grandchildren and 16 step-great-grandchildren.

Deceased include: two stepsons, Earl Arthur Gault and Carl Gault, Sr; two brothers, Jacob Walter and Milton Walter, and one step-daughter, Alice Young.

Mr. Walter was a retired farmer and enjoyed wintering at North Fort Myers, Fla.

He was a member of Beech-Grove Wesleyan Church in Carey.

Services will take place at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Beech-Grove Wesleyan Church. The Rev. Floyd Thomas will be the officiant. Burial will be in Zion Bloom cemetery in Vanlue.

Visitation is 2-9 p.m. Monday at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home in Carey, and one hour prior to Tuesday's services at the church.

Memorials may be made to Beech-Grove Wesleyan Church in Carey or Creighton Dialysis Center in Findlay.

Francesco Longo
Retired CIA officer

Francesco "Frank" Longo, 61, formerly of Tiffin, died Monday, Aug. 20, 2001. He was born Feb. 1, 1940, to Francesco and Philomena (Colatruglio) Longo.

His wife of 41 years, the former Marilyn Souders of Coconut Creek, Fla., survives. Other survivors include: two sons, Antonio of Washington, D.C., and Francesco III of Los Angeles; a daughter, Mrs. Carlos (Tina Marie) Bueno of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; a grandson; his mother, Philomena Longo of Tiffin; five sisters, Sister Marianne Longo, RSM, of Fremont, Mrs. Greg (Joann M.) Elchert of Warrington, Pa., Mrs. Bob (Connie M.) Archer, Mrs. Joe (Rosie M.) Mangus, and Mrs. Ed (Rita M.) Schwab, all of Tiffin; and a brother, Leonard A. Longo, also of Tiffin.

He was preceded in death by his father and a sister, Carol.

Mr. Longo entered the U.S. Navy in January 1958 and completed radioman training in Norfolk, Va. He served on a variety of Navy ships and commands, completing a total of more than 21 years of service &emdash; 13 in the active Navy and eight in the Naval Reserves, before retiring as a radioman, chief petty officer.

Mr. Longo was recruited by the Central Intelligence Agency and began his employment in 1970. After 22 years with the CIA, he retired in 1992 and settled in Florida.

Mr. Longo received many awards during both of his careers, including the CIA's Intelligence Commendation Medal.

Interment took place Aug. 24 at the National cemetery in Bushnell, Fla., in a full military service.

A memorial Mass will be offered at St. Mary Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Sept. 1.

Memorials may be made to Our Lady of the Pines Retreat Center, Fremont.

John Fiegelist
Retired machinist

John Joseph Fiegelist, 84, of 19 Linwood Rd., Tiffin, died Saturday, Aug. 25, 2001 at St. Francis Home.

He was born Aug. 10, 1917, in Tiffin, to Ervin J. and Verena (Niederkohr) Fiegelist and they are deceased. He married Kathleen A. Teeple on Aug. 2, 1943 at St. Wendelin Catholic Church in Fostoria and she survives.

Survivors also include: two sons, John T. and Michael J.

Fiegelist, both of Tiffin; a daughter, Mrs. David (Mary Ann) Pahl of Tiffin; a brother, Wade Fiegelist of Tiffin; six grandchildren and two great-grandsons.

A sister, Margaret Studer, preceded him in death.

Mr. Fiegelist was a 1935 Calvert High School graduate, a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and he retired as a machinist at National Machinery.

He was a member of the National Machinery Quarter Century Club; Moose Lodge 846, Knights of Columbus; and Seneca County Historical Society. He enjoyed gardening, bird and squirrel feeding, Cleveland Indians and NASCAR. He was an amateur Seneca County historian and had written articles for the Advertiser-Tribune.

A mass will take place at 1 p.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Reverends Richard Dunn and Frank A. Murd officiating. The rosary will be recited at 12:45 p.m. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Visitation is 5-9 p.m. Monday at Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home, where a wake service will be at 8:45 p.m.

Memorials may be made to Calvert High School Foundation, St. Francis Home, or a charity of the donor's choice.

Robert Sacksteder
Retired accountant

Robert P. Sacksteder, 83, of 182 St. Francis Ave., Tiffin, died Friday, Aug. 24, 2001 in St. Francis Home.

He was born April 9, 1918 in Tiffin to the late Andrew and Katherine (Carringan) Sacksteder.

Survivors include: a brother, Thomas J. Sacksteder of Fostoria; two sisters, Kathryn L. Sacksteder and Mrs. Lawrence (Miriam S.) Fanshaw, both of Tiffin.

Two brothers, James L. and Richard G. preceded him in death.

Mr. Sacksteder was a Calvert High School graduate and a St. Joseph College graduate of Rensselaer, Ind. He was a World War II Navy First Lieutenant, an accountant and owner of Sacksteder and Associates. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin Elks Lodge 94, and American Legion Post 169.

Services will take place 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. James K. Say officiating. The rosary will be recited at 10:45 a.m. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Visitation is 6-9 p.m. Monday at Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Calvert High School or St. Joseph Grade School.
